MyFaces on OC4J 10.1.2.0.2 - JspParseException

I just completed an application and it works fine at my test server (Win2003).
Deploying the very same EAR-file at the production server went smooth, but calling any page returns the following error:

I have another application running fine at this server - using the same technology, but older versions (MyFaces 1.1.1 vs. 1.1.3, Tomahawk 1.1.1 vs. 1.1.2).
I'm stuck - could anybody push me out?
thx

Has anyone had any luck with this yet? I'm running into a similar situation with a webapp using Tomahawk 1.1.3 on OC4J 9.0.4. The web browser returns the following exception:

The funny thing in my case is that the application works like a champ on 10.1.2 and also on my local instance of 9.0.4 standalone. My mind is sufficiently boggled.

    Does anyone know how to fix this??
    thanks!

    Ok, I solved the problem. For some reason OC4J chokes on the DTD declaration in web.xml and halts processing, well this causes many issues. If you remove the declaration everything works like magic!
    I'm guessing either the xml parser included with OC4J has a problem or the DTD URI is not accessible to the system.

    How can I resolve this problem? Do I need to config the OC4J server?

    I am a little new to library management in this environment. I am also doing CDB Development and since the libraries are different from what is bundled with JDeveloper 10.1.3.x, I am curious, how did you end up dealing with the library conflicts in a production environment?
    Also, I was under the impression that libraries defined in the application and included in the deploy (ear file) would take presidence over the "global" libraries. Is this not correct?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Using the OTN2 tech preview build 4684 now available on OTN, I used the JDEVHOME/jdev/bin/start_oc4j script to startup the embedded server in standalone mode and cannot reproduce these errors.
    Can you try with build 4684 from OTN and see if the same issue still reproduces?
    If so, does it occur even before ever deploying any applications of your own to the instance?

  • Problems with combination of ADF Faces, Tomahawk, Facelets and MyFaces

    Hello,
    I am trying to combine all things named in the Subject and run into several problems:
    1. ADF Render Kit forces the Tomahawk Components to be rendered in a wrong way or stop there functionality.
    Example 1: The clickable parts of the t:dataScroller Tag can not be accessed because an empty a Tag will be rendered after the outputText.
    Example 2: The t:commandSortHeader Tag can be clicked but the table content will not be sorted anymore.
    The given examples works if i remove the default-render-kit-id element from the faces-config.xml
    2. The ad:table Tag runs into an ClassCastException, only when I put a simple example code snipped into my xhtml file.
    Code snipped:
    <af:table>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <af:outputText value="Firstname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Lastname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    </af:table>

    I followed all steps for the ADF installation and the suggested steps for using ADF with Facelets.
    Used versions:
    - Oracle ADF Faces 10.1.3 Early Access
    - myFaces 1.1.1
    - Facelets 1.1.1
    - oc4j 10.1.2.0.2
    Has somebody try to use these things together, too?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi,
    Inside our fusion applications(ADF/Webcenter) using combination of JSTL and ADF Faces is good practice or pitfal?
    To suggest a a rule of thumb: Try ADF Faces on-board functionality first before reaching out to JSTL. The difference between JSF in general and JSTL is that the JSTL expressions are evaluated at page compile time wheras JSF expressions are evaluated deferred. This difference may have an impact to PPR refreshes and the data rendering (which in many cases I assume you can fix by setting the ADF Faces component content delivery to immediate instead of deferred). On a training slight I flagged JSTL with a "heads up" alert because of this

  • Shared library for  MyFaces Trinidad

    Hello!
    I'm having some trouble trying to create a shared library in OC4J 10.1.3.3.0. My goal is to deploy multiple applications that use MyFaces and Trinidad, but using a shared library that contains every JAR required.
    This is what I've done so far:
    1. I created the directory D:\workspace\oc4j_10.1.3\j2ee\home\shared-lib\sidi\1 and put there every JAR included in MyFaces Trinidad Demo.
    2. Edited server.xml and added the following lines:
    <shared-library name="sidi" version="1">
    <code-source path="*"/>
    </shared-library>
    3.- Edited the orion-application.xml in each application that needs MyFaces Trinidad support and added the following lines:
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <import-shared-library name="sidi" />
    </imported-shared-libraries>
    When I try to run any application that uses MyFaces Trinidad, I get this error message:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions!
    If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.
    A typical config looks like this;

    If I place the JARs inside each WEB-INF/lib the applications work, but I'm trying to avoid doing this to have smaller EARs when the applications are packaged for deployment in the production servers.
    What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help me with this.

    Hi Aram,
    The default behaviour of OC4J is to NOT run the listeners provided inside the taglibs. As for java server faces, tomahawk and trinidad use taglibs that rely on the listener configured in the tld file
    You'd need not only to deploy the "shared library", but also, drop the jars in the $OC4J/j2ee/home/taglibs directory
    And, make sure that in your "global-web-application.xml" you have:
    <orion-web-app
    [... whatever ...]
         jsp-cache-tlds="on"
         jsp-taglib-locations="../taglibs"
    >
    that means, the attribute "jsp-taligb-locations is defined for the orion-web-app tag. With that, the listener is going to be loaded, and you'd not need to configure it in the web.xml

  • Oc4j 9.0.4/10g R1 and JSF

    Hi,
    I'm having serious problems with the OC4J container 9.0.4 and JSF. I have tried several sample applications in addition to the one that I have created myself, but none of them will work in the 9.0.4 release of OC4J, even though they all work in R3 EA release, as well as in tomcat 4.x.
    In order for oc4j to compile jsp, I have added the following to server.xml:
    <java-compiler name="javac" in-process="false" encoding="ISO8859_1" bindir="c:\APPS\Java\j2sdk1.4.2_09\bin" extdirs="c:\APPS\Java\j2sdk1.4.2_09\lib\ext" />
    After doing this the example jsp files that comes with oc4j works.
    However, when trying to access my own application I get the following errors in global-application.log:
    05/10/04 10:22:03 web-0.1: jsp: init

    I found an advice to not load the servlets on startup, but this does not help.
    Does anyone know what might be wrong here? Is there a bug in 9.0.4 since everything works fine in the latest release?

    This should not really work -- there is NO JMX support in 9.0.3.
    In addition to providing the JMX MBeanServer runtime and JSR77 objects, we needed to also instrument a bunch of our runtime classes so they can work with JMX. Copying over the JMX libs and the console libs won't really get you what you need.
    The earliest you may see some form of JMX is 9.0.4 -- and this is a completely unsupported (and incomplete and in fact hidden .... ) feature in that release.
    Our first official release which will provide visible JMX support is 10.0.3.
    Copying over JAR files like this from different versions is not a supported operation. Interesting from a learning perspective for sure ;-) -- but certainly something that support will baulk at if you ever call them about it.
    cheers

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.3 and Apache MyFaces 1.1.1 Integration, Aces help.

    First, I created a page that has both ADF Faces Core components and MyFaces components.
    Here are the configs:
    JSP Code:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" prefix="t"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html" prefix="afh"%>
    <html>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <t:jscookMenu layout="hbr" theme="ThemeOffice">
    <t:navigationMenuItem id="nav_5" itemLabel="Tools"/>
    <t:navigationMenuItem id="nav_6" itemLabel="Help"/>
    </t:jscookMenu>
    <h:form>
    <af:commandButton text="ADF button"/>
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    <body>
    <html>
    Included libs:
    adf-faces-impl.jar
    commons-beanutils.jar
    commons-codec.jar
    commons-collections.jar
    commons-digester.jar
    commons-el.jar
    commons-fileupload.jar
    commons-lang.jar
    commons-loggin.jar
    commons-validator.jar
    myfaces-api.jar
    myfaces-impl.jar
    tomahawk.jar
    Included Tag libs:
    af.tld
    afh.tld
    myfaces_core.tld
    myfaces_html.tld
    myfaces_ext.tld
    tomahawk.tld
    The Problem
    After I added a af:commandButton within the f:view, the html and body tags were automatically converted to afh:html and afh:body tags, this created a FacesException upon runtime so I had to change them back to plain old html and body tags and the page ran again. I am a bit hesitant about this step due to afh:body tags being required for PPR. Also, when I tried adding afh components to the page, they cause compile errors that would not normally if the page is enclosed by afh:html and afh:body tags.
    Some questions:
    Can afh tags play nicely with MyFaces components? If so, what am I doing wrong?
    If afh tags are needed by PPR then why is using afh tags a bad solution?
    What are possible workarounds?
    Thanks very much in advance.

    I had the same problem, poked around a bit on the Apache web site and came across the installation requirements:
    http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk/extensionsFilter.html
    The key in my case was installing the three extensionsFilter elements in my METAINF/web.xml file:
         <filter>
              <filter-name>MyFacesExtensionsFilter</filter-name>
              <filter-class>org.apache.myfaces.component.html.util.ExtensionsFilter</filter-class>
              <init-param>
                   <param-name>maxFileSize</param-name>
                   <param-value>20m</param-value>
              </init-param>
         </filter>
         <!-- extension mapping for adding <script/>, <link/>, and other resource tags to JSF-pages -->
         <filter-mapping>
              <filter-name>MyFacesExtensionsFilter</filter-name>
              <!-- servlet-name must match the name of your javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet entry -->
              <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
         </filter-mapping>
         <!-- extension mapping for serving page-independent resources (javascript, stylesheets, images, etc.) -->
         <filter-mapping>
              <filter-name>MyFacesExtensionsFilter</filter-name>
              <url-pattern>/faces/myFacesExtensionResource/*</url-pattern>
         </filter-mapping>
         <filter-mapping>
              <filter-name>MyFacesExtensionsFilter</filter-name>
              <url-pattern>*.faces</url-pattern>
         </filter-mapping>
    Once I redeployed, the menu came up just fine. I think the important one is the myFacesExtensionResource url-pattern value.

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for your reply. I had a look at source html and this is what i found
    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/dWRichFacesDemo1/a4j_3_1_4.GAcss/panelbar.xcss/DATB/eAGbuWPCFgAGZAKW.jsf' />
    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/dWRichFacesDemo1/a4j_3_1_4.GAorg/richfaces/renderkit/html/css/calendar.xcss/DATB/eAGbuWPCFgAGZAKW.jsf' />
    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/dWRichFacesDemo1/a4j_3_1_4.GAcss/listShuttle.xcss/DATB/eAGbuWPCFgAGZAKW.jsf' />
    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/dWRichFacesDemo1/a4j_3_1_4.GAorg/richfaces/renderkit/html/css/suggestionbox.xcss/DATB/eAGbuWPCFgAGZAKW.jsf' />
    <link href="css/default.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    there is no direct link to .css file except for default.css and if i try the URL in the href link , im getting output which does not make much sense for me. :(
    Thanks,

    Does anyone know if there is a bug in oc4j 9.0.4? Both apps work fine in both tomcat 4.x and in the latest early access release of oc4j (EA R3).

    typically this is because a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.[JSF README]
    * Some web containers don't follow the Servlet 2.3 Spec rule of calling
    ServletContextListeners listeners defined in tld files in the META-INF
    directory of a jar. Running a faces webapp in such a container
    requires you to manually declare the ServletContextListener. The
    listener-class you need to specify is
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    [Jacob Hookom of Facelet]
    If you would like to use JSF 1.2 with Resin: oc4j for that matter ...
    1. Delete the TLD files from the jsf-imp.jar!/meta-inf
    2. Specify at context-listener in your web.xml for:
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    As you see, both say a same thing.

    Embeded weblogic runs with ADF libraries of 11g why this class cannot be found?
    Any comment will be helpfull,
    Thanks

    I am not explicitly use this class, neither in source code nor in xml configuration files so i can’t find it anywhere in my application.
    I guess that, embedded weblogic loads 11g adf libraries and does not include this 10g specific class but migration shouldn’t change this
    oracle.adf.view.faces.event.AttributeChangeEvent to
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.event.AttributeChangeEvent?
    thanks

  • Myfaces on JDeveloper 10.13 Early Access

    Hello,
    I´m using JDev 10.13 EA, and I have an application that is using myfaces, when I deploy it to Tomcat it works fine, but when I click Run on JDev for deploying it to OC4J it opens the browser, but don´t shows anything on the URL, no error message, and no page.
    Does somebody have any idea about what can be the problem?
    Thank you very much,

    I had similiar problems too, but I finally managed to get a page up after fussing around with the includes. Make sure you have the following libs and tags in your project:

    Has anyone some tips for me why Facelets does not work or how i can get it to work?
    Thanks, Daniel

    Copy the META-INF folder of the
    jsf-facelets.jar to a folder called "config" in the WEB-INF folder of your web and add
    <context-param>
    <param-name>facelets.LIBRARIES</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/jsf-core.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jsf-html.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jsf-ui.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jstl-core.taglib.xml;/WEB-INF/config/jstl-fn.taglib.xml</param-value>
    </context-param>
    to the web.xml.
    This helped for me.

  • JDev 10.1.3 and MyFaces extension filter

    Hi.
    When I add MyFacesExtensionsFilter mapping to web.xml in JDev 10.1.3 I can not work with .jsp/.jspx pages in a JDev visual designer:
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>MyFacesExtensionsFilter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/faces/*.jspx</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    Does anyone know how to solve that problem

    Ignore my previous post, I found a better way that does not require editing tld files inside the jar.
    1. In JDeveloper -> tools -> Manage Libraries: create new library with all the MyFaces jars. I named mine MyFaces.
    2. In your JSF project properties, add the newly created MyFaces library.
    3. In the WEB-INF/lib folder of your project, replace the faces-impl.jar with the myfaces-impl-x.x.x.jar
    4. I removed the libraries that JDeveloper automatically adds to my JSF project (JSF, JSTL, and several Apache commons)
    For my project, the only libraries listed in project->properties is the JSP runtime and my MyFaces library. The jsp editor gives me full wysiwyg editing with the MyFaces components. The internal OC4J server runs the project properly. I was able to do a little more work and add the Tomahawk components and they render in the editor properly also. This is so very nice!

    This demo will not run on oc4j 10.1.3.4. You'll need a j2ee 1.5 compatible server. The only one officially supported is the oracle weblogic server 10.3 R1.
