  • Wifi for curve 8300?

Hi, I'm using an old blackberry curve 8300 since my mobile just broke down. It seems there is no wifi on it and I can't connect to my internet box.
Is it possible to dowload a program that would install it and if yes, could anyone recommend one for me?

    Hello,
    Refer to this please:
    http://worldwide.blackberry.com/blackberrycurve/8300/specifications.jsp
As you suspect, that model does not have WiFi. And what is missing is hardware (the WiFi radio inside the BB). As such, no amount of software can overcome that limitation.
    Good luck!

  • Need 3D data / dimensions for Curve 8300 series

I am a product designer working on a new Curve 8300-series case for a client. I have been trying to track down the technical dimensions of this model, but so far, no luck!
Can anyone help me with either the 3D-data, 2D-scaled dimensioned drawings, or good place to go look? I've tried everywhere.
    Thanks, Dave

I'm not sure if this information is readily available. The best place to start is by contacting RIM to see if they will release this information to you: http://www.rim.com/company/contact/index.shtml
Alternatively you could do your own measurements if you have a model available (not easy measuring all the intricate dimensions, but that depends on the tolerances and fit you are aiming to achieve.

  • Gmail with device OS 4.5 for Curve 8300

Hello, I am using a 8300 curve. I recently upgraded to version 4.5 device OS. After the upgrade, my Gmail is not working and I get the following error message "Uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointerException". I have reinstalled the latest version of Gmail but I still get the same error message. Can someone help. Thanks. Mike
PS : I had similar problem with Yahoo Go but I installed the latest version and now it seems to work.

This may be one of those funny little side effects from downloading 4.5. Are you getting any audio from the phone at all?

  • Reinstalling software on the curve 8300

I am trying to reinstall several programs that I previously uninstalled on my Curve 8300. The downloaded programs are stored on my desktop. I've reinstalled them on my desktop.  However, when I try to reinstall them on the Blackberry, the BlackBerry Desktop Manager doesn't seem to recognize them and they don't show up on the list of programs to upload. Has anyone had this problem?  any ideas?
    Solved!

    It is a known problem.
To avoid message: "no additional applications designed for your device were found" use the most recent version BB Desktop Manager software.

  • Curve 8300 and tethering

    Hi,
I have a BB Curve 8300 that I'm trying to use to connect my laptop to internet trough tethering. I have Desktop Manager v. 4.2.2 on Windows 7. My carrier is T-Mobile. After I configured the dial-up modem I was able to connect my laptop few times and then suddenly it stopped working. It gets to a point where it says "Verify the username and password" and after a waiting period of 1min it tries to redial again. The carrier said they can't troubleshoot b/c is not a phone bought from them and I need to call RIM for support. I downloaded the trial version software from Tether.com and it works flawless, but the software is another $30 or so. Did anybody experience this type of problem? My entire family has BB also and I'm thinking changing all BB devices with something else if I can't fix this issue. Can somebody from RIM Service department help me out on this or I need to switch to another manufacturer?
    Thank you in advance,
    Dan

To (re)set your expectations about this site...this site has nothing to do with any formal RIM support whatsoever...rather, this is a user-to-user community of volunteers who try to help out others to the best of their abilities. To receive any formal support from RIM (for free), your case must be escalated from your mobile service provider into RIM...I am actually quite saddened that TM didn't at least offer to do that for you (though, technically speaking, they may be within their rights to refuse you given your circumstances).
There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the initial question, since you are bypassing the formal support channels. If you wish to investigate that, you can review it here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.html
What I would suggest is that you follow steps 1-6 in this thread, and then start over normally with your procedure...Desktop Software 4.2.2 is really really old:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8300, apps don't work

I have had the curve 8300 for two years, for the last couple days I have not been able to open any applications.  No mater what I go to it goes to my address book.
Has this happened to anyone else?  If so,,,how can I fix it?

    Great, now we're getting somewhere.
It sounds like you might have a faulty trackball, OR at least it might need cleaning. It could indiciate some moisture damage. All three are possible.
There are instuctions around on how to clean a trackball.
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8300-series-discussion-curve/108122-how-clean-your-8300-blac...
I would suggest you attempt this first.
Now, if your device is under warranty, or very new, I would simply suggest a warranty exchange.

  • Impossible to set up email on Blackberry Curve 8300?

There seems no way to set up my email on this AT&T brand unlocked Blackberry Curve 8300.  I can get calls but in email "wizard" setup the only option is for a Blackberry Enterprise Server, which I do not have.  I just want to get my personal email when I am away.  (Maybe I'll just buy a new Kindle...) Is there a solution or should I just sell the phone?

    Cute.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Search feature issue on Curve 8300

I'm having a problem with my Blackberry Curve 8300 Search function:
I type in a word that I know is in appointments in the Search Text field and click on Calendar.  The function finds multiple results as it should:
    Finished (13)
    Calendar (13)
But when I click to expand, I only get see 10 of results out of the actual 13 it states it found and I can't see the results of the other 3 results.
    Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I have not heard of a video file length limitation.
Transfer the file to the PC via My COmputer, then play it with Quicktime.
This will tell you if the file is corrupted, truncated, or has a valid eof.
    Thanks,

  • Battery for Curve

Hi there, I bought a new battery for my blackberry curve 8300 because the other one was causing the phone to shut off after a few minutes on a phone call. But now this new one is not recognising the sim card. Very weird and I tried everything, I'm also going back to where I bought the battery from to ask for a replacement. Anyone have any idea what the problerm might be?
    ta

    Hi,
That is the correct battery, I would get a full backup, wipe the phone, and return it to the vendor as a workmanship
default. Make sure you receive a new rather that refurbished phone.
Use this procedure to get the phone ready to swap.
    Thanks,

  • Help! Curve 8300 not responding at all....flashing red LED.

    Help!
My friend was trying to install a theme on my blackberry curve 8300 with her laptop and her blackberry manager. She was trying to sync when a message popped up saying it was deleting applications so she hit cancel and disconnected.
Since she disconnected the USB i have a black screen and flashing red LED. No response when I hit the power button. No response from taking the battery out, waiting, putting the battery back in. No response with ALT-SHIFT-DELETE.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Error 507 simply means the device has no operating system on it.
Basically, you need to load an OS to the BB....

  • FREE Call & SMS Blocker for Curve 8900

Is there anyone know an application for blocking unwanted call & SMS FREEWARE for Curve 8900???
like black&whitelist... but i don't want the shareware...
    Thanks a lot.

I don't know of a free one. You can also look at iCallManager.
Meanwhile if you want to block ALL SMS messages, you can do that at Options > Security > Firewall settings and check the items you want blocked completely.

  • Auto Signature for Curve 8900 series

I'm trying to add a auto signature for text and email for Curve 8900

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I don't know about an SMS auto-sig, but for emails, you can access that via Setup > Email Settings (it may be slightly different depending on your device OS level).  Navigate into the account and there is a field for that information.
You can also do this from your carriers BIS website:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Where_can_I_log_into_my_BIS_account%3F
If you've not used this before, you'll have to create an ID/password and associate it to your BB PIN...and then you'll have to also use those credentials on your BB. But there should be a checkbox to tick that will have your BB remember those credentials for future uses, so you only have to enter them once.
Now, if you are on BES for some email, you must do something different...let us know and we'll guide you about that.
    Cheers!
