i have written a java code and call it into jsp page..however no data is available. but my java code is able to retrive the database information n display it in dos command. so i think there is nothing wrong with the coding nor the JDBC sinc eit can retrieve data out of the database. is there any setting to be done for displaying databse info at web page using jsp?

    it seems you have a problem here:
    String connecturl = "jdbc:mysql://mistry:3306/test,user1,test";your better off doing something like this:
              Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
              Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);where url is the url to the database in your case "jdbc:mysql://mistry:3306/test"
    and username and password are the username and password to the database......
    that's one thing, the other is that the username and password have to be approved of mysql, i don't think tha's your problem since the error shows that you supplied and empty username

  • Help on mysql and jsp

    hi i am building a web based questionnaire using JSP and i am trying to store some questions with 4 possible choices and a correct answer in a database so that i can print them out in a browser and anwser them and get the feedback on the ones answered right and wrong
    eg....
    Question 1:
    A Method is invoked with
    o Method Call
    o Local Variable
    o Return Statement
    o None of the above
    can anyone help me with the database structure on how to do this....
    and some tips on how to check the questions answered to the correct answer....thanx

    Database:
    1. Create a table Called 'Questions' with Qid and QDescription columns. Qid is the primary key.
    2. Create a table called 'Answers' with Qid, AnswerId, Answer and AnswerCode columns. Qid is the Foreign Key and refers the Qid in Questions table. AnswerId is the primary key. AnswerCode typically contains A,B,C,and D (and E if at all it is there).
    3.Create a table called 'QandA' with Qid and AnswerId columns. Qid is the foreign key and refers to Qid of 'Questions' table, AnswerId is the foreign key and refers to AnswerId of 'Answers' table and combination of Qid and AnswerId is primary key.
    Java Bean
    1. Create an Info bean QInfo with properties qId, answer1, answer2, answer3 and answer4 plus respective set and get methods.
    2.Query the database for some 50 questions and store the push resultset contents into the infobean (i.e, you will create 50 different instances of QInfo bean) and add all these info beans to a Vector.
    3.Return this vector to the Caller (either JSP or Servlet).
    JSP
    1. Execute the getQandA() method of the java bean.
    2. Display the contents of info beans onto the browser (Question with sequential numbers and Answers with check boxes);
    3.On submission of the page, post the contents to another JSP (preferably to a servlet).
    4.Get the question id and the answer code from the request body and cross check them against the QandA and Answers tables.
    5.Forward the request to another JSP with the no of right answers. Display the result in this page.
    Hope this helps and is not too complecated.

  • Mysql and JSP or Servlets

    hi, I would like to know if there is any document on the internet containing these information:
    -how to setup a working MySQL server
    -setup a new database!
    -how to use MySQL databases with java
    -basic information on how to read/add data to a database
    as you see I'm a newbie on SQL! but thanks in advance!
    leonard

    When you download mySql it does come with information about how to install it and use it (including a few hundred pages documenting its implementation of SQL). On the mySql download page you should be able to track down a reference to a JDBC driver you can download separately to connect Java to mySql. It comes with documentation that explains how to use it.

  • MySQL and J2ME

    Hello.
    I'm building an application for mobile phones that should get data from an mySQL database.
    I would like to know what's the simplest way to do this. The database will be very small. Can I do this directly, doing a query to the database or I have to use PHP or some kind of servlet?
    In case of servlets, do they need to be installed on the server or they're just those JSP files?
    Thanks for the help.

    You're not helping me. yes I am.
    You are basically saying to me
    to look for information on Google.
    No I didn't! But I should have. Your question is very vague.
    Let me try again. Your question is not specific to J2ME. Do you understand that?
    So you can do it one of two ways.
    1) Just a normal web page created with whatever. There is no need for a code sample for this. There are many, many examples and tutorials available.
    2) Create a webservice and access it like that.
    I posted the link to Wikipedia because I wanted YOU to read it and then come back and say if you want a webservice or not. If you don't know what a webservice is than that link explains it.
    Can anyone give me specific directions, please?Please refrain from being rude and unpleasant.
    And .jsp = J2EE?
    JSP is part of J2EE yes.

  • How to convert oracle 9i database to mysql using JSP?

    Dear friends,
    I want to convert oracle 9i database to mysql using JSP technology. Does there anyone who have a hint or some web links about this task? I searched the internet and found all of them are not free and no source code. In fact, what I want to do is really simple, I just want to first, reading the oracle database table structure information and then create the exactly same table in mysql, and then copying all the data in oracle database table to mysql table. But I dont know how to retrieve the oracle table structure using JDBC. And also I want to retrieve all the tables in the oracle database, so I can choose from them to convert to mysql. It seems that the structure in oracle usually have the tablespace information, I dont know if I can create database in mysql using this tablespace information. And I dont know where I can find the information about the functions in JDBC? For example, how to retrieve the table structure? Once I retrieve the table structure and create the exactly same table structure in mysql, then I can fetch all the data in oracle table to mysql table.
    Any hint will be great appreciated!
    Merry Christmas and Happy new year!

    Hi, beattris and rtg54,
    thank you very much for your great help!
    beattris, do you know if there is any such kind of tool free? I am a student and don't want to do commercial product, as you see, my work is very simple, in fact, just as you said, the most important of all is how to get the database structure from oracle schema? do you have any idea about this? or do you know any tool that is open source? so I can learn from it.
    rtg54, I just want to convert the database from oracle to mysql, after that, I can use mysql database as storage instead of expensive oracle database. the problem is that I have some data stored in oracle database and the application is built on oracle, after the convertion, I can use mysql to provide data to jsp or servlet application. I will great appreciate if you can contact with mysql about this problem because I don't know how to contact with them.
    thanks again and happy new year!

  • Secure mysql and ease of programming

    Hello,
    How/what do I set up so that I do not have to include in all my jsp files the connection information to my mysql database for my application? It is tedious to have to set up the try...catch..finally stuff everytime I want to have a query in my jsp files. I am using mysql and jakarta-tomcat-4.0.4.
    David

    Why don't you write a Database class, then when you want to access the database you can just create an instance of this class and call a method that does the connection, the trys & catches etc.
    eg you could have a method with signature
    public ResultSet exQuery(String query) etc etc.
    Much better practice to only have one class that accesses the database - esp if you want to change drivers, connection methods etc in the future.

  • Define mysql and host connection only 1 place

    Hi everyone,
    For my school project i developed a application using servlets and jsp.
    In every servlet i make a new connection.
    Like this:
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
                throws ServletException, IOException {
            response.setContentType("text/html");
            PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
            System.out.println("MySQL Connect Example.");
            Connection conn = null;
            String url = "jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/";
            String dbName = "cijfersysteem";
            String userName = "vishant";
            String password = "vishant";
            String driver = "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver";But if my host changes for example i need to change it in 10 or more files.
    that is not efficient.
    How can i make the connection in 1 file and require it over every other servlet?
    Thnx in advance for the help everyone.

    If you are using Tomcat or Jetty, you can define JNDI entries like this:
    [http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/jndi-resources-howto.html#JDBC%20Data%20Sources]
    [http://docs.codehaus.org/display/JETTY/JNDI]
    You should be using resource injection in Glassfish.

  • Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3

    Hello,
    I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
    I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
    As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.
    Please guide me to resolve the problem.

    This error is resolved after following the logs in C:\ATG\ATG10.1.1\CIM\log\cim.log. The root cause is I used http as protocol instead of t3 while specifying weblogic admin url.

  • Performance with MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox

    Hi!
    I'm having quite some problems with the performance of MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox. However, I'm very happy with the ease of using database connectivity toolbox. The background is:
    I have 61 variables (ints and floats) which I would like to save in the MySQL-database. This is no problem, however, the loop time increases from 8ms to 50ms when using the database. I have concluded that it has to do with the DB Tools Insert Data.vi and I think that I have some kind of performance issue with this VI. The CPU never reach more the 15% of its maximum performance. I use a default setup and connect through ODBC.
    My questions are:
    1. I would like to save 61 variables each 8-10ms, is this impossible using this solution?
    2. Is there any way of increasing the performance of the DB Tools Insert Data.vi or use any other VI?
    3. Is there any way of adjusting the MySQL setup to achieve better performance?
    Thank you very much for your time.
    Regards,
    Mattias

    First of all, thank you very much for your time. All of you have been really good support to me.
    >> Is your database on a different computer?  Does your loop execute 61 times?
    Database is on the same computer as the MySQL server.
    The loop saves 61 values at once to the database, in one SQL-statement.
    I have now added the front panel and block diagram for my test-VI. I have implemented the queue system and separate loops for producer and consumer. However, since the queue is building up faster then the consumer loop consumes values, the queue is building up quite fast and the disc starts working.
    The test database table that I add data to is created by a simple:
    create table test(aa int, bb char(15));
    ...I'm sure that this can be improved in some way.
    I always open and close the connection to the database "outside the loop". However, it still takes some 40-50 ms to save the data to the database table - so, unfortunatly no progress to far. I currently just want to save the data.
    Any more advise will be gratefully accepted.
    Regards,
    Mattias

  • Ideas pls for a small application on java and jsp?

    hi ,
    I would like to create an application which for resume. I would like to codify the java code . The java code should be able to autogenerate jsp file's since the output of the resume would be on an jsp page. To add it simply a wizard for dynamic resume creation using java swings and jsp. Code for jsp should be autogenerated please note it.
    Ideas please!
    Thanks in advance

    I'd like to add more information to Patreck's suggestion.
    JSP pages are wonderful if you need the web server to perform some actions before sending you the final web page.
    Here, you don't need the web server to do anything because your Swing application can do it for you. As Patreck implies, Swing can make a connection to the database, retrieve any information you want, perform whatever logic you need, and write the output to an HTML file.
    To give you an example, you can use Internet Explorer to view a basic web page on your hard disk. You can also use Microsoft Word to view the same basic web page. They both do the same task and there is no need to force IE to use its Word plug-in in order to view the web page.
    JSPs are not necessary because Swing will do all of the work for you. You only need JSPs if you want people to use your program through a web browser because they can't do Swing inside a web browser. You should only use one or the other, not both. Understand now?
    If you really really must generate JSP code from a Swing application, then just write out the JSP stuff in the file. For example...
    public void createWebPage( Printwriter pw, String myName ) {
       pw.println( "<% String myJSPName = \"" + myName + "\" %>" );
       pw.println( "<HTML>");
       pw.println( "<HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<TITLE>My Resume</TITLE>" );
       pw.println( "</HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<BODY>" );
       pw.println( "<H1>My name is " + myName + " and my JSP name is <%= myJSPName %></H1>" );
       pw.println( "</BODY>" );
       pw.println( "</HTML>" );
    }As you can see, it's pointless to embed JSP when you can do all the programming within Swing first and just write out the correct response.

  • MySQL and JDBC Classpath errors

    I am new to Java and installed MySql and also installed mysql-connectorJ driver. I can compile the code below, but when I go to run it, I get "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: JDBCDemo/class" error. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class JDBCDemo {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              try{
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
              catch (Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    I have a the following environment variable called MySQL_Driver located at "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\lib".
    Path = "%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared;%JAVA_HOME%;%JAVA_HOME%\lib;%JAVA_VM%\bin;%JAVA_VM%\lib;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\BINN;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;%MySQL_Driver%"

    What is your CLASSPATH set to as you need to make sure that the driver is in the path as well as the directory/jar where the JDBCDemo app lives.
    Try explictly specifying everything via the -classpath option on your java command line
