Hi,
This is a forum for MS SQL Server. You should ask this question on a MySQL forum to get better answer to your question.
I haven't worked with MySQL, but I think SMALLINT does not need length to be specified. Try using below:
'Type' SMALLINT DEFAULT NULL,

  • JSP, EJB in Jboss 4 with mySQL database. Error in connecting to database

    Hi, i using JBoss 4-0-1 with jsp and mySQL database. I get this example from a book using stateless session beans. However i modify it so it can connect to mySQL database.
    This is my code for jsp.
    <%@ page import="asg.MusicEJB.*,
    java.util.*,
    javax.naming.Context,
    javax.naming.InitialContext,
    javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject" errorPage="error.jsp" %>

         The following 3 variables appear in a JSP declaration.
         They appear outside the generated _jspService() method,
         which gives them class scope.
         Since we want to initialize our Music EJB object once
         and read the Music Collection database to get the
         recording titles once, we place this code inside
         method jspInit().
         The EJB business method getMusicList()
         returns a collection of RecordingVO objects which we
         store in ArrayList albums.
    --%>
    <%!
         MusicHome musicHome;
         Music mymusic;

    response.setContentType("text/html");
    PreparedStatement stmt = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    String userid = request.getParameter("userid");
    String password = request.getParameter("password");
    try {

    Class.forName ("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver";
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {

    try{
         /*** CONNECTING TO THE DATABASE USING DATABASE NAME, USERNAME AND PASSWORD */
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:8080/own");
    /****** this checks whether the entry for the user is in the database *****/
    stmt = con.prepareStatement("SELECT *FROM userinfo WHERE userid = ? AND passwd = ?");
    stmt.setString(1,userid);
    stmt.setString(2,password);
    rs = stmt.executeQuery();

    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response)
    throws IOException, ServletException {
    doGet(request, response);
    } // goPost
    } // end logincheck function ...

    And i see another thing that confuses me. Your URL connection string is
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:8080/own"); meaning that your database is in your machine and listens in port 8080 for incoming connections. But that is the default port that Tomcat listens! Maybe you should change this line to
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/own");where 3306 is MySQL's default port.
    Hope these help.

    hanging waiting for you to enter new ones. (I've had
    this happen before with Oracle).Sir,
    A good point but MySQL will just bomb out in this case.
    Another possibility is do you have the latest JConnect driver? The old drivers have protocol issues talking with the newest versioned servers.. but the new drivers are backwards compatible.

  • Error when connecting to MySQL Database

    I am trying to connect to MySQL and receive an error everytime. I have attempted to talk to Bluehost (who my site is hosted thru) and they said it is not on their end and not something they can help me with. I set up a new MySQL Database with Bluehost and then set up the site through DW and everything went fine. I secured an ftp connection and went on to connect to MySQL. When I enter in my credentials for SQL Database, it returns:
    HTTP Error Code 404:
    Reason 1. No testing server running on the server machine.
    Reason 2. Testing server specified for this site deos not map to the http://my_domain.com/_mmServerScripts/MMHTPDB.php URL. Verify the URL Prefix maps to the site.
    The testing server model I am using is set to PHP MySQL and URL Prefix I am using (my_domain.com) is my website URL. I watched a YouTube video someone suggested elsewhere on how to add MMHTTPDB.php and mysql.php files to _mmServerScripts folder since the folder is empty but unfortunately, those files are not found on my computer. I assume they were supposed to be installed when I installed DW, but they are not here. I have done a general search of the comp and looked in each folder that was installed with DW and sadly, no files that match those names. What can I do? How can I make an SQL connection? Please help. It is greatly appreciated.

    We've set up a MySQL database with our host and can connect to that, and create, edit, delete tables using HeidiSQL, without a problem.
    However when we attempt to set up the connection in the Databases tab of our Applications panel in Dreamweaver we receive the following error:
    HTTP Error Code 405 Method Not Allowed
    We have entered the following in the MySQL Connection box:
    Name: <name of our connection>
    Server: <IP address of our database>
    Username: <our database username>
    Password: <our database password>
    Database:
    When we click the "Select" option next to the Database field, that's when we receive the above mentioned error.
    We noticed that there was a fix posted by Adobe at:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/err405.htm
    ...but that link is long since dead, however it does seem to indicate that Adobe are/were aware of this issue.
    Can anyone help?  We're trying to move from Classic ASP / MSSQL to PHP / MySQL but have hit a barrier right from the off, which isn't very encouraging.  Hope someone can ease our concerns with PHP and MySQL.
    Much appreciated.

    Thank you SnakEyez02.
    I had the Testing Server set to Local/Network but didn't have MySQL installed locally.  Changed that setting to FTP and it picked up on the database correctly.
    When using MSSQL it doesn't matter whether you choose Local/Network or FTP it just picks up the online database regardless.  I guess this must just be a difference between it and MySQL.
    Thanks for the advice.  Much appreciated.

  • Error connecting to MySQL database using JNDI

    Hi,
    I'm trying to do a simple connection to a MySQL database using the JNDI look-up
    method.
    Have tried this with the PointBase database that came with WebLogic and got it
    to work successfully.
    However got the attached error message when I tried it on MySQL database. I tried
    this with both the WebLogic's driver for MySQL and also the one I downloaded from
    MySQL (com.mysql.jdbc.Driver), and both failed with the same error message.
    Offhand, it doesn't look like the connection pool is failing. Tested it with WebLogic's
    "Test Pool" function and it was alright.
    Also MySQL database is working properly. Test this by doing simple connection
    and retrieval with simple JDBC connections and it works.
    Any ideas what else I can check with regards to this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,
    Attached is the config.xml for the domain that I'm working with. There are 3 connection
    pools set-up.
    The problematic Connection Pools are "MySQLCP" and "My JDBC Connection Pool"
    Thanks for your help in this!

  • Runtime error during createStatement() trying to connect to MySQL database

    I am trying to make a script to access a MySQL database over the internet. I can get this to work on my home server using PHP, but I can't figure out why my code below is not working. I get a runtime error in the conn.createStatement() line but I can't figure out what the problem is... Any help is appreciated...
    import java.sql.Connection; import java.sql.DriverManager; import java.sql.ResultSet; import java.sql.SQLException; import java.sql.Statement; public class sqltest extends Activity {                 Connection conn=null; try { // from http://help.godaddy.com/topic/319/article/262 conn = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://profiles.db.1111111.hostedresource.com:3306/dbname", "dbname", "password"); } catch (SQLException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); } try { // Create a result set containing all data from mysql_all_table Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM *");                 } }
    PS: I am developing this code for android using Eclipse, but I think the issue is a pure java code related...

    You catch the conection exception and keep on going. So 'conn' is null. That produces a null pointer exception at the createStatement() line. Which I am guessing the IDE tells you exactly that.

    i don't know error mean
    can anyone explain me and send me a sample code for connect MySQL
    Thank you

    The java code in your jsp is not valid java code; the error messages are explaining why.
    For example, this statement is totally managled.
    String sql="INSERT INTO test VALUES (",' " +name" ', ' " +surname+" ')";It should be:
    String sql="INSERT INTO test VALUES (' " +name+" ', ' " +surname+" ')";If you use PreparedStatement instead of Statement, then the SQL gets much much easier to write (and PreparedStatement has other advatages as well).
    Your other compilation problem is impossible to diagnose without the JSP source code; furthermore, it has nothing to do with JDBC, you simply have broken Java code. You need to post that question in a more appropriate forum.

  • Using MySQL database in Jdeveloper

    I am using MySQl database in my applicaion.I have successfully created connection to the database and have created entity beans from the tables and a session bean as well to use the entity beans
    now when i am trying to call persistEntity(object obj) of session bean, basically to insert records into tables.
    i am getting following exception :
    Internal Exception: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"tdmce_approval_status" (APPROVALLEVEL, DOCREFNO, STATUS, COMMEError Code: 1064

    i believe this insert query is automatically generated by Jdeveloper. have tried executing the same query in sql sheet it has worked perfectly fine.
    Can any one please suggest on this ?

  • Connecting to a Mysql database using CF Administrator and DW

    I can't create a mysql datasource in CF Administrator.
    If I use the following datasource settings in CF
    Administrator:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Drive Class: MySQL Connector J
    AND (note the emphasis) I set my local and remote folders in
    my DW site local folder, remote folder and testing server folders
    all to C:\CFusionMX\db\, I can connect to my mysql database in CF
    Administrator.
    However, with these DW site folder settings, DW doesn't
    recognize any databases (Access or Mysql) at all.
    When I change my DW site folder settings to 'wwwroot'
    (e.g.local folder C:\CFusionMX\db\' is changed to
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot') DW now lists all my CF Administrator
    databases.
    The problem is CF Administrator can't connect to my Mysql
    data sources. It gives me the error:
    "Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
    while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
    occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
    username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
    I've tried changing the 3306 port to 8500, but this doesn't
    help.
    My java path and connector file is:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar,
    Is this a ID/password problem? I've tried both 'root' and
    leaving the ID field in the CF Administrator add data source block,
    both to no avail. I don't have a password set in Mysql for 'root'
    either.
    Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I've been working
    on this for weeks and keep running into one problem after another.
    Thanks a million in advance.
