MySQL database with SQL Toolkit

Hi,
we are using CVI 2012 and the SQL Toolkit 2.2 and we want to connect to a MySQL database.
The MySQL database was created with MySQLServer. When we try to connect with DBConnect we get an error.
How can we connect the MySQL Database?
What do we have to type in the connection string in DBConnect? Is it the name of the database, the path to the database or anything else?
Does any one have experience with the SQL toolkit?
Thanks in advance
Oliver

You need to install the mysql connector odbc and then create an ODBC dns for your database.

  • Is it possible to insert data into a MySQL database with Java?

    Hello everyone!
    I would like to know, if it's possible to insert data into a MySQL database, with a JFrame inside a servlet?
    When the JFrame is first created it calls this method:
         * Connects the servlet with the MySQL database.
        private void connect(){
            try{
                Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
                connection = DriverManager.getConnection(
                        "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/data", "root", "omfg123");
            }catch(ClassNotFoundException cnfe){
                cnfe.printStackTrace();
            }catch(SQLException sqle){
                sqle.printStackTrace();
        }Then, when you click the "Add" button, it executes this code:
                add.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
                    @Override
                    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae){
                        String employee = employeeName.getText();
                        String[] args = employee.split(" ");
                        firstName = args[0];
                        lastName = args[1];
                        execute();
                });And this is my "execute()" method:
         * Connects the servlet with the MySQL database.
         * - And executes the SQL queries.
        private void execute(){
            try{
                PreparedStatement statement = connection.prepareStatement("insert" +
                        " into employees values(" + firstName + ", " + lastName
                        + ")");
                ResultSet result = statement.executeQuery();
                String fullName = firstName + " " + lastName;
                printer.write("Employee " + fullName + " added.</br>");
            }catch(SQLException sqle){
                sqle.printStackTrace();
        }But when I click the "Add" button, nothing happens.

    This is what I use to insert into mysql. It works on windows.
    try {
                Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
                String connectionUrl = "jdbc:mysql://" + loadip + "/custsig?" +
                        "user=root&password=";
                Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(connectionUrl);
                newproc = jTextField1.getText();
                newsoft = jTextField2.getText();
                newdeb = jTextField3.getText();
                newcust = jTextField4.getText();
                if (newcust.equals("")) {
                    errorsig12 = 1;
                    jLabel1.setForeground(new java.awt.Color(255, 0, 0));

                } else if (newdeb.equals("")) {
                    errorsig12 = 1;
                    jLabel4.setForeground(new java.awt.Color(0, 0, 0));
                if (errorsig12 == 0) {
                    PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("insert into customer set cust_name = ?,  software = ?, processor = ?, debit = ?");

  • Try to use Mysql database with forte

    Dear All:
    As title said, I try to use Mysql database with forte.
    I read the manual , it said I have to put the database jdbc driver in
    the Forte for Java lib/ext directory.
    I did it and then add a new Driver in the Runtime tab in the Explorer
    window .
    But when I try to test this new driver(by Right-clicking on the driver
    or connection in the Explorer and select Test Driver from the context
    menu),it said "cannot find driver class: check your CLASSPATH or
    \lib\ext direectory".
    I am sure I'hve put the driver class(with the whole directory structure)
    in that folder.
    Does anyone what I may go wrong ?
    Could you please give me some advices that I can fix this problem ?
    Thanks in advance.
         Ken @ Taipei , Taiwan , Asia

    You should have put the jar file that contains the driver into that directory. If you unpacked the jar file and put the individual classes into that directory, it will not work.

  • Help, Cannot connect to ODBC database using SQL Toolkit!

    Hello All,
    I am toying around with the SQL Toolkit evaluation (2.2 + the patch) and I am having difficulty.
    I ran the example program "connect" and it seems to work fine.
    However, I try to write my own program and I keep getting the same message:
    "Function DBConnect: (return value == -10 [0xFFFFFFF6]).
    Native error code - 2147467259 0x80004005
    The message differs from time to time, but the return value is constant.
    I am using both Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and MySQL.
    For MySQL I have installed the latest ODBC connector, 5.3.4. Inside the Control Panel/Data Sources(ODBC), I have a DSN named test_mysql in both User DSN and System DSN.
    I ran a test on the connection and the test passes. I am not sure if I should use the ansi or unicode driver, I have tried both with the same success.
    I am not sure I had configured the SQL Server connection properly, and will attempt that again.
    My CVI Code is simple enough:
    hdbc = DBConnect ("DSN=test_mysql");
    Every time I get a -10 from DBConnect. Either I have something configured wrong or I am missing something.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Update 2:
    After getting off the phone with Tech Support the problem has been identified!
    LabWindows SQL toolkit requires 32 bit DNS. My PC is a 64 bit, so my DNS manager defaulted to 64 bit.
    I needed to use the 32 bit DNS manager when working with the toolkit.
    Once I created my DNS connections using the 32-bit version of the ODBC Datga Source manager, everything worked fine.

  • Connect to a mysql database with Oracle 9i

    Hello,
    how can I connect to a non_oracle-database in "Oracle 9i".
    I created a ODBC data source. In Oracle8 I needed OCA. But in 9i I believe the OCA is replaced by another thing.
    I wanted to connect in SQL*PLUS with:
    username/password@odbc:mysql
    But I get the error: ora-03121 "no interface driver connected - function not performed".
    How can I connect to another database?

    I've solved the DW problem by changing the site folders from
    'db' to 'wwwroot' e.g. 'C:\CFusionMX\db\' is now
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\
    However I'm now back to my original problem. I've lost my
    mqysql connection in CF Adminstrator. Before I made these changes I
    could connect to my mysql databases using the following settings:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Driver Name: MySQL Connector J
    using the following Java path and file:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
    Now these settings give me the following error:
    "Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
    while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
    occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
    username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
    Any suggestions on this would also be welcome.
    Thanks again to everyone for their help.

  • Creating A New MySQL Database With Coldfusion Code

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone knew how to create a whole entire
    new database simply by executing a Coldfusion template (via a form
    for example).
    I'm pretty confident at creating a new table in an already
    existing database but not sure how to go about creating an entirely
    new database from pure ColdFusion code using MySQL.
    I basically want to create some portal for myself to do this
    to save on arduous time. It'll need to be a form because I'll have
    to give it a name, username, password etc. I need the seperate
    databases for my separate clients you see.
    One point I should make is that it is on a shared server so I
    don't have direct access to the CF Administrator.
    Any advice on achieving this or highlighting the pitfalls
    would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance!

    I know it sounds cheeky but any chance you could supply

    I would have tried doing it already because I use SQL quite

    When I´m adding a new connection in SQL Developer, I can choose the MySQL tab an create a connection to a MySQL database.
    The connection test was successful and I can see all tables.
    I use the same JDBC driver for SQL Developer and SQL Developer Data Modeler (mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar).
    But there are two problems.
    1. First there is an problem when I want to import from a MySQL database (SQL Developer -> File -> DataModeler -> Import -> DataDictionary).
    After choosing the MySQL connection and pressing the next button an error occurs: CONNECTION_TYPE
    What is the reason?
    2. In SQL Developer Data Modeler I have not the CONNECTION_TYPE problem. But when I want to export DDL, there is no MySQL type selectable, although there is working connection to the MySQL Database. It´s the same in SQL Developer.
    What is the reason?

    Hi,
    Please be aware that a separate forum for SQL Developer Data Modeler is available:

    You will likely get a more rapid response if you mark this thread as answered and re-post your question over there.

    Hi,
    Data Modeler does not explicitly support import from MySQL databases, although you can use a JDBC connection to do this.
    Philip described how to set this up in forum message How to connect mySQL for reverve engineering
    There is no MySQL tab in Data Modeler - you should use "JDBC-ODBC Bridge" - "other third party Driver".
    Set URL like : jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/database_name
    driver Class: com.mysql.jdbc.DriverAlso Data Modeler does not support generation of DDL for MySQL.

    When I connect to the local database server I set the Oracle-environment as follows:
    export ORACLE_SID=DEV01
    export PATH=/opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin:$PATH
    export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/9.2.0
    Now I start SQL*Plus as follows:
    oracle#> sqlplus user/user
    SQL> select instance_name, host_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME    HOST_NAME
    DEV01            server01
    Since the SID is on both databases the same (DEV01) I really do not understand how Oracle decides to which database SQL*Plus connects to.
    Is it a matter of the entries in the TNSNAMES.ORA?
    But when I start SQL*Plus as follows:
    oracle#> sqlplus user/user@DEV01_local
    SQL> select instance_name, host_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME    HOST_NAME
    DEV01            server01
    or
    oracle#> sqlplus user/user@DEV01
    SQL> select instance_name, host_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME    HOST_NAME
    DEV01            server02
    everything is as expected.
    Does anybody know which database gets chosen when just connect with "sqlplus user/user" (without @DEV01 or @DEV01_local)?
    Any help will be appriciated!

    Both databases have the SID=DEV01.
    The ORACLE_SID is set to DEV01 - but when connecting I end up at
    oracle#> sqlplus user/user
    SQL> select instance_name, host_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME    HOST_NAME
    DEV01            server01
    which is the database with the TNSNAMES.ORA entry "DEV01_local, DEV01_local.WORLD = ..."
    In your case the one defined by ORACLE_SID environment variable => but which from both is it?

  • How to use non-MySQL database with DW and PHP...???

    I need to connect to a data-source that is not MySQL from
    with my PHP scripts. The only option I get under the Databases tab
    in the Application panel is MySQL Connection. What about just
    standard ODBC connections? Will DW not handle those for me? Do I
    have to do all of that by hand??
    Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    There once existed an opensource servermodel called phakt
    that used the
    ADODB database abstraction library,
    the company that created and supported it was bought by Adobe
    and
    subsequently the project was cancelled.
    A group of people (including me) started a community
    initiative@
    http://openphakt.sourceforge.net
    to continue distribution and development of
    phakt, but unfortunately I don't have access to Dreamweaver
    CS3 due to lack
    of funding.
    Phakt will almost certainly NOT run on CS3 in it's current
    state, but is
    should support previous versions.
