MySQL DSNs

Hi
Is anyone out there able to do a quick test of MySQL DSNs?
I am running CF10 beta on Win Vista Home Premium 64-bit, and trying to create DSNs to a  "MySQL 5.5.2-m2-community" DB, also installed locally.  When I do so, I get this:
Connection verification failed for data source: dsntest
com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3 times. Giving up.
The root cause was that: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3 times. Giving up.
Connecting to the same DB with the same credentials on CF8 and CF9 (and Railo, OpenBD and BD.NET) works fine.
I have ruled out firewall issues.
I'm less interested in people offering advice as to what might be the cause (Adobe are on the case, and they'll be best placed to advise there), but just interested if someone who has a comparable environment could try to set up a MySQL DSN and see if it works.
If someone can get a DSN to work on  Win Vista Home Premium 64-bit, and MySQL 5.5.2-m2-community (or similar, if not exactly the same point release), then I'd be pretty happy to just put it down to a vagary of my PC, and advise Adobe to stop looking at it.
On the other hand if someone else has the same problem, it would be handy to know.
Cheers.

You may need to use MySQL Administrator to add a host from which root
can connect, if you want to be able to log in as root from workstations.
By default I believe root can only connect from localhost, ie the
server itself, and this is a security feature.
However, you can add additional hosts, including %.yourinternaldomain,
and re-assign the privileges you want root to have. I find it a bit
confusing, but root@localhost and root@somewhere_else seem to behave as
different users.
I personally leave root for just localhost access and use another user
for workstation access - a bit safer and if I stuff up the other user if
worst comes to worst I can fix it from a command line on the server.
Hope this helps

  • Mysql DSN not in odbc.ini

    running mysql 5 cfmx 6.1
I created a mysql datasource in the CFMX admin without a
problem and am able to connect to the database, everything works
fine. My problem is I don't see this in my ODBC.INI in the
registry. I can see all other datasources except for mysql. Can
anyone tell me why this happens?
Also can anyone point to where I might find a way to create
this mysql DSN connection through code?
    Thanks in advance

Yes i want to connect to Oracle Database, i understand from documentation if i want to connect to Oracle Database, it is enough to have TNS entry and OCI uses that to connect. Somehow i am not able to connect to DB using OCI. So i thought to try using ODBC ie., by modifying odbc.ini file under BIHome/setup on server.

  • MySQL DSN files

    Hi!
I'm trying to store data from LabVIEW in a MySQL database, I've foloved the folowing procidure (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/47A8CF66D5E3C8CC8625720A006139D6) and it all works fine. But then,  I would like to be able to put my path to my DSN in a string so that I do not have to specifie it every time I run the program. They say that you can do that in the last sentence of the tutorial, but I cant find my specific path. I did exactly as it sad in the tutorial, do anybody know how I can find thise address?

    ollef,
Hello! Following that Tutorial you linked allows you to create at User DSN and according to the documents below isn't actually a file, but information stored in a registry. So, when using the DB Tools Open Connection VI you would wire a string control into the Connection Information Input of the VI with the Data Source Name of the User DSN that you created in Step 6 of the tutorial.

  • Example code - dsn less connection to MySQL ?

Has anybody got any example code on how to connect to a MySQL
    database without using DSN ?
    eg. <cfset myconnectionstring="....
My hosting company say they prefer me NOT to use a DSN. Do
you think they're correct in saying this ?

You can create a dsn less connection for access on a PRE-MX
(ie ColdFusion 5.0) environment. CFMX does not currently allow for
DNS-Less connections, due to a "restriction" with JDBC.
So it seems that your hosting company are nutters! :) It is
normal for your host to create the dsn themselves, however, it will
be limited by the number of dbs you have. I imagie you can have up
to 2 mysql dsns without charge, mssql will cost per db/dsn and
access should be free for one dsn connection.

  • Help needed for MySQL 5 database DSN less connection with Oracle reports

    Hi,
I am using Oracle Develper Suite and java (J2EE) for my application. I am using MySql 5 as database tool. I want to use Oracle reports of Oracle Develper suite. I have created some reports by first creating system DSN for MySql database and then connect Oracle reports to that DSN by "jdbc:odbc" connection string provided in Oracle Report developer wizard. This is working fine.
I want to generate reports without creating system DSN (DSN less) so that i can use my application on any computer without creating DSN for Oracle Reports. I am deploying my application on OC4j as "EAR" file.
Help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Regards.

Using an 8i client, you will need to configure the tnsnames.ora file with appropriate connection information if you are using local naming. If you are using host naming or something like an Oracle Names server to resolve TNS aliases, you can skip the tnsnames.ora configuration. A default installation of the Oracle client, though, will probably be using local naming.
If the tnsnames.ora file is configured, or you have configured an alternate way of resolving TNS aliases, you should be able to use the connection string
DRIVER={Oracle ODBC Driver};DBQ=<<TNS alias>>;UID=system;PWD=managerIf you wanted to move to the 10g client (the 10g Instant Client could be useful here), there are some streamlined naming methods that could be used instead of configuring the tnsnames.ora file.

  • MySQL System DSN: Host is not allowed to connect to this MySQL Server

    Hi all,
I'm creating a FileMaker database to keep track of support and to-do items, for a large forum-site I'm managing here in Denmark.
The site runs on our webhosts servers, but I have a MacMini server we use for development. I'd like to connect the MacMini's MySQL server to FileMaker, and have purchased Actuals ODBC pack witch works great. I can connect to the MySQL server on the MacMini via Navicat, by enabling an SHH Tunnel.
When trying to create a System DSN via the Actual ODBC drivers, to connect to the MacMini, I get this error:
    Link to screenshot: http://img.skitch.com/20100104-82xe6j7x9b8cjmj357t33p9sb1.png
The one very strange thing is, that the Mac I'm trying to connect from, is at 192.168.1.15 and not 10.0.0.5! The MacMini is at 10.0.0.2 so it makes no sense what so ever, and as I said, I can connect fine to 10.0.0.2 via Navicat, even though it only works when I enable SSH Tunneling.
But of course the Actual ODBC (or any for that matter?!) drivers does not support creating an SSH Tunnel, so I need to be able to connect directly to the MacMini's SQL-server, but when I try I get the above error.
Port 3306 IS open on the server, so I must be overlooking something obvious. I've tried to change the socket when setting up the System DSN to /var/mysql/mysql.sock or /var/mysql but that changes nothing.Ohh yeah, that is ignored for remote servers by the way!
Can anyone help? How do you guys setup your System DSN to a Mac-server with Snow Leopard Server on it?
Thank you so much in advance
    Thomas
PS: I can connect fine to our Webhosts MySQL server with the Actual Drivers, but to decrease load on that server, I'd like to get the data for the FileMaker Support Database from our development-server instead!

Anyone got an idea on this? If I've posted in the wrong forum, please advise, because I was a little in doubt as to where this was to be placed

  • ODBC Destination with DSN to MySQL db

I am trying to create a simple package that reads from a SqlServer table and tries to export that data into MySQL Table.
I have tried the following two ways to achieve this, without any luck.
    1. I have created an ADO.Net destination to use a ".Net Providers\MySQL Data Provider" connection that has been provided with all required info.
After setting up the connection in connection manager for this ADO.NET dest., I try to view the list of Tables available as destination, but it comes up with "No tables or views could be loaded.", however typing in the name does not complain.
When running this package I am getting this error
"[ADO NET Destination [2]] Error: An exception has occurred during data insertion, the message returned from the provider is: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use
    near '"order_no", "order_ref_no", "customer_code", "date_order_created", "qty", "produ' at line 1"
    2. When I try to use ODBC Destination, I can successfully get the list of tables displayed and can select the destination table. but when I run the package, I get the similar syntax error.
    - [ODBC Destination [2]] Error: Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) error occurred. SQLExecute returned error while inserting row 1

this post and prompted me to realize that I had an older 32 bit version of the drivers installed on my machine. I installed it and created a new DSN with these drivers to be used with the ODBC Destination. and it worked.
On a side note, Changing the 'sql_mode' is not the part of the solution since I have tested by reverting the mode back to what it was before I changed it (and now it does not include ANSI or ANSI_QUOTES).

  • How to create a DSN Less Connection using MySQL

    Hi All
How to create a DSN Less Connection using MySQL?
http://www.caucho.com/projects/jdbc-mysql/index.xtp and downloaded Caucho driver and installed the jar ---- caucho-jdbc-mysql-0.2.7.jar in my classpath..
this is how i embedded the code
    try
    driver = (Driver) Class.forName("com.caucho-jdbc-mysql-0.2.7.Driver").newInstance();
    catch (Exception e)
    lastErr = "Cannot load the driver, reason:"+e.toString();
nothing seems to work with code..
Unable to proceed..Any piece of code would be of great help..
    Thanks and regds
    Gautam

According to the installation instructions for that driver:
    The driver is com.caucho.jdbc.mysql.Driver
    The url is jdbc:mysql-caucho://hostname:port/database
You used something else for the driver name. So it doesn't work. By the way, I found those instructions here: http://www.caucho.com/projects/jdbc-mysql/

  • Installed MySQL ODBC, system DSN configured and working, provider still not showing in SQL 2005 provider list

    As per the title, really.
I need to fetch data periodically from a MySQL DB. Installed the 5.1 MySQL 32bit ODBC driver onto the SQL server, configured and tested the DSN, all fine.
Provider still not showing in the list in Management Studio.
Can anyone offer any advice? is it a simple case of restarting services? I haven't tried that due to the server being in production.

    Hello,
Is this a 64 bit SQL Server? For a linked server you can only use OleDB data provider, have you also installed OleDB for MySQL? If not, then you have to use the ODBC OleDB provider together with a System DSN.

  • Connected to repository but can't view data in CRXI - requests DSN instead

    CA Forum: Integrated Solutions
Hi - not sure if this is the right forum but here goes:Trying to get a report designed on my desktop PC with Crystal XI  connecting to my remote server running Crystal Server XI R2 & MySQL 5.  I have a business view created and I can access it fine, but when I go to create the report or browse the data in the fields I get the ODBC (RDO) dialogue box asking for a DSN!  Surely the point of the server is that it handles all the connectivity?  I have the password stored with the connection in the repository on the server - have I set up something incorrectly at the server end?  I've used all bog-standard settings, nothing fancy or different and using Enterprise authentication.  This is my first proper report against a data warehouse I'm building and my first use of Crystal Server in anger, so it's possible I've missed something.

I too am currently having this problem. HELP.
when I try to create a recordset to an ACCESS database, i get
    the same error...
error calling getTables; an unidentifed error has occurred.
I dont handle the server...I am just a lonely servant. the
admin is telling me nothing has occured on his end....so Im
thinking it has to be a macromedia issue.
now Im finding others with the same problem.
    but is there a fix.

  • Connecting to a Mysql database using a ColdFusion server

can't create a mysql datasource in CF Administrator.
If I use the following datasource settings in CF
    Administrator:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Drive Class: MySQL Connector J
AND (note the emphasis) I set my local and remote folders in
my DW site local folder, remote folder and testing server folders
all to C:\CFusionMX\db\, I can connect to my mysql database in CF
    Administrator.
However, with these DW site folder settings, DW doesn't
recognize any databases (Access or Mysql) at all.
When I change my DW site folder settings to 'wwwroot'
(e.g.local folder C:\CFusionMX\db\' is changed to
'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot') DW now lists all my CF Administrator
    databases.
The problem is CF Administrator can't connect to my Mysql
data sources. It gives me the error:
"Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
I've tried changing the 3306 port to 8500, but this doesn't
    help.
My java path and connector file is:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar,
Is this a ID/password problem? I've tried both 'root' and
leaving the ID field in the CF Administrator add data source block,
both to no avail. I don't have a password set in Mysql for 'root'
    either.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I've been working
on this for weeks and keep running into one problem after another.
    Thanks a million in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Graham A. Kerby

If it were me I would use the MySQL JDBC driver and not ODBC. Then DSN versus not-DSN wouldn't be an issue.

Could to associate the problem at Office 2013?
I just installed the ODBC Driver; The data source machine was available; When selected I had received the message. When it was selected I had received the message:
    "ODBC -- falha na chamada.

In english, could to say: "ODBC -- fail on call.

I don't know yet the reason for this. Anyone knows?

    Hi,
I encountered problem when trying to connect from Oracle to MYSQL using dg4odbc, hope you can shed some light
Oracle database is 11.1.0.7 on SUSE Linux 64-bit.
Since the application which runs on MYSQL DB only offers ODBC driver on Windows platform, so I installed the 32-bit ODBC driver (from ServiceNow) on a 32-bit windows server (driver download from http://wiki.service-now.com/index.php?title=ODBC_Driver) .
created system DSN: MYSQLDEV, The DSN connection works fine. I then installed Oracle 11.2.0.1 gateway for ODBC 32-bit on the same windows server, the following configurations were done:

  • Dg4odbc to MySQL update errors: "does not support IS NULL in this context"

I am having a problem with 'where x is null' clauses in update statements to MySQL from 11g, using dg4odbc. Updates using the clause 'where x is null' return errors like this:
ORA-02070: database PLAZAHOST does not support IS NULL in this context
The rejected queries never get to mysql. Furthermore, I noticed that select statements with 'where x is null' show up in the mysql query log with the where clause stripped out, although correct results are returned to SQLPlus. It looks as though 'where x is null' is stripped off by dg4odbc, which subsequently applies a secondary filter to the results received from MySQL.
Note, both statements above work properly when issued from the MySQL client.
Has anybody seen this? It's a big problem for me, but I can't find any references to other people having the same problem, so I assume I've got something misconfigured -- but I don't know what.
I'm using MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver, MySQL 5.1 Community Edition, and Oracle 11g R1 all running on a 32-bit Windows server.
    Thank you -- rick

is null statement is post processed. This means in case of a select ALL records from the remote database are fetched into the Oracle database and the is null statement is then processed locally in the Oracle db.
So thze select will work as it is handled internally in the Oracle database. This also means as But "is null" isn't sent to the foreign MySQL db the update clause will fail with ORA-02070: database PLAZAHOST does not support IS NULL in this context
You need to recode the statement or use passthrough statements.

  • Database link from Oracle to MySQL with the use of unixODBC

    Hi,
    I have 2 servers.
    Server A:
    - CentOS_5.1 x386
    - MySQL 5.1
    - unixODBC
    - mysql-connector-odbc

I've configured ODBC, so I am able to do "isql <DSN> oracle oracle -v" sucessfully with "root" and "oracle" user on Oracle server. I've configured listener.ora and tnsnames.ora

when I login to oracle and create PUBLIC DATABASE LINK with command....
create public database link link2mysqlware connect to
    2 "oracle" identified by "oracle" using 'mysqlware';
    Database link created.
    THIS IS WHAT I GET.....
    SQL> select * from "emp"@link2mysqlware;
    select * from "emp"@link2mysqlware
    ERROR at line 1:

There is "emp" table in MySQL, from where I can even select with the use of isql command and from this Oracle server.
I would really appreciate some help here.
    Thanks in advance.
