Mysql in dreamweaver

It says that all I have to do to setup the MYSQL database connection in dreamweaver is to go to the + sign under databases and select mysql connection to create my connection to the database. Well in my version of dreamweaver cs3 that is not one of my choices. I get Custom connection string or Data Souce Name (DSN) how do I get my cs3 to let me choose mysql as one of the connections?????

Have you set up your testing server and saved your files as PHP or ColdFuion fiels?  Database options will not be available of you are just working on a .htm page or non dynamic site.

  • Local net ssh failure Tiger (PHP MYSQL Apache Dreamweaver)

I can't be sure, but I think this problem started with the latest security update. I'm 80% done with my first web application using PHP and Mysql in dreamweaver when I began getting an unknown error from dreamweaver when attempting to connect to my DB on my testing server. After 2 days of debugging and re-installing apps I finally wiped the testing server (G4 400 Cube memory topped out 120GB HD, down to the metal) reinstalled Tiger, fully patched, edited the httpd.conf file to enable php 4.4.1. Installed Mysql 4.1 (which was the last general distribution with a packaged install) and the server works fine, so I created myself as a user in mysql @localhost & @localmachinename to replicate root user. Navicat was up and running in no time, so I re-populated my server from my backup. Then I jumped over to my design workstation (G5 2Ghz Dual, 2GB Ram, 250GB HD) only to find navicat can't login to the mysql server because ssh wont connect to the G4. After much testing I discovered ALL of my macs will attach only to external addresses. My linux box, external linux boxes, even windows boxes emulating ssh will attach internally or extenally, the macs won't talk to anything in the local network 10.0.x What the ****! My project is now past due and I'm stuck because I can no longer ssh from any macs to internal machines mac or otherwise. PLEASE HELP!!! is there an SSH pakage so I can re-install? I couldn't find a mac ssh package on apple or ssh.org, Will that even make a difference? Can I uninstall the security update? Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Mac comes with a fully functioning Apache web server with all the scripting languages (except VB). You need to enable them in the configuration file.
You need some light weight UNIX administration skills to do this. Use the system restore disk to set the password for the root account.
Open a terminal screen from the Utilities folder in Applications. Type "su", press return, then enter the root password you set using the system restore disk.
Make a backup copy of the Apache configuration file with the following command (type this in with no mistakes and press the return key).
    cp /etc/httpd/httpd.conf /etc/httpd/httpd.conf.copy
Enter the following to open the Apache configuration (type this in with no mistakes and hit the return key).
    /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/httpd/httpd.conf &
Locate and remove the # comment symbol from the following lines and save the file in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf.
    #LoadModule php4_module libexec/httpd/libphp4.so
    #AddModule mod_php4.c
Exit the TextEdit application and quit out of the terminal application.
Put the following web page into a file named greetings.php inside the folder Library/WebServer/Documents.
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Experiment</title>
    </head>
    <?php
    echo "Greetings";
    ?>
    </body>
    </html>
Once you have made these changes, you can reboot to activate the changes.
Put the following into your browser to test the configuration.
    http://localhost/greetings.php
You should see "Greetings" on a web page titled "Experiment".
MySQL is a separate server that you need to download and configure to complete your web server.
    I hope this helps.
    Best regards - Greg

  • Problem when displaying images when working  with PHP, mysql and dreamweaver in a brower

    Hey Guys
I am new to dynamic development but I already did some
research and tutorials about how to get a dynamic web site working
with PHP and Mysql in Dreamweaver. I set up a test page to view
some content on it directly from the mysql database and it worked
just fine in dreamweaver only when I pressed the
    live data view.
When I tried to view the same page using the browser preview
with firefox and internet explorer, plain text from the database
was correctly displayed on the brower but the images were absent.
In the mysql database I used the varchar as my picture data
type field so that I will refer in dreamweaver in the data binding
panel in the img.src to the picture column of my database.
I anyone can tell me what am I doing wrong so that my
pictures are not displayed in the browser when i click the browser
preview facility in dreamweaver I would be very very and very
    pleased ! :)

The odds are that it is the way that you have referenced the
    images rather
than an issue with the database. If you have the images root
    relative like
this "/images" then they will work in preview, and on the
    webserver, but
will not view when looking at the file via localhost.
If possible make the links page relative and then they should
    work fine.

  • MySQL to DreamWeaver connectivity issue specific to Stored Procedures

    Hi there,
I have a MySQL to DreamWeaver connectivity issue specific to
    Stored Procedures.
The driver I am currently using is
    mysql-connector-java-5.1.5-bin.jar.
Although basic row and column tree is exposed in Adobe
DreamWeaver 8's Application Pallette, my stored procedure is not.
    My serverside technology is Coldfusion(MX7).
    My environment is:
Server: MS Windows 2003 (Small Business Server) using IIS.
    Client: MS Window XP-Pro.
    According to the driver documentation
mysql-connector-java-5.1.5-bin.jar appears to be capable of
    handling stored procedures:

I could be wrong but the evidence suggests that support for
this feature is not available from Adobe.
I have already invested a certain amount of time in this
sub-project. I would, therefore, be most grateful to anyone who can
provide me with a solution to this.

    OK.
Figured out the 'stored proceedure' problem. I had two 'Connection' folders, one of which was a sub-folder, that pointed to the same database but with slightly different configuration details. Removed the 'wrong' folder and all seems to be sorted.

  • "An unidentified error has ocurred" when connecting to mySQL in Dreamweaver MX

    Hi All,
I've been trying & failing to figure this out for 2 days. I hope someone can help! I installed xampp on my local machine, got the Apache server, phpMyAdmin, and SQL up and running. My next step is to connect to my MySQL database in Dreamweaver MX. This where I'm running into trouble.
I've given super access rights to several db users in my MySQL database just to be sure that it wasn't a matter of not-enough-permissions. Here is a screenshot of the privileges: http://www.skyebrannon.com/db_privs.jpg
I am sure my connection information is correct, as I've used it to create a php page that lists my database tables. Those are working just fine Here is my info:
            $dbhost = "localhost";
            $dbuser = "root";
            $dbpass = "dbpassword";
            $dbname = "camin0_music";
When I put the same information in my MySQL Connection, I get "An unidentified error has occured".
Here is a screenshot of the error and my (working) connection info:

  • Database copy in php/mysql with Dreamweaver 7

I'm designing a new website/customer that I would like to

If there is an easy way, could you step me through it?
If there is not, how much of the database management can be

  • Setting up MySQL for Dreamweaver 8

I set up MySQL on my Macintosh yesterday, along with PHP --
all went fine yesterday, until I tried to connect Dreamweaver to it
(today I went back and uninstalled and tried to reinstall, and all goes less well -- can anyone tell me what
    robert:/usr/local/mysql robert$ bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'himmel'
bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'
    signifies?)
In any case -- back to the story:
I go to connect to the DB in Dreamweaver 8, and when I try to set up the DB in the "databases" tab and click on the "database" field I get
    "An unidentified error has occurred"
    and then
"HTTP Error Code 404 File Not Found....
[Possible Reasons]: 1) No testing server running on this machine.
    2) The Testing Server specified for this site does not map to the http://127.0.0.1/~robert/Sites/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php?Type=MySQL&Connecti onString=host=localhost;uid=dwmx;pwd=mm&Host=localhost&&UserName=dmwx&Password=m m&Timeout=30 URL. Verifiy that the URL prefixs points to the root of the site."
Any clue? I know little about PHP or Unix, but am trying to learn.

Great info - thank you, David! I will be trying that this
    afternoon.
Before I do, however, I need to clarify whether I am doing
    this the "best"
way in my decision to use MAMP. I was looking for the
    quickest, easiest way
to get a Testing Server setup so that I could test out
    multiple client
sites. In your opinion, is my approach the best solution? Do
    I need to
    purchase MAMP Pro?
    Thanks again, much appreciated!

  • Help!!! : Complex mysql query in dreamweaver

Ok Guys: I need this query executed on a client's website. I know it's working well in phpmyadmin, but in dreamweaver I cannot put it to work. The point is that the mysql_query funcion in PHP can only execute one query, So I cannot set the initial values of the parameters. I tried to translate it into dreamweaver standard code but the result gives onlyone record for each cat_news_id, while I need three. Any help please?

    Thanks for your interest

    Hi there Walt,
Thanks for your reply....A stored procedure...yes. I should have thought about it. In this particular case I will try this way out since I have a root account and I can execute any mysql code. Usually, anyway, I found that web hosts tend to leave little grants to their clients mysql user accounts and even setting up a stored procedure could be an issue. I would be happy to find also a lighter solution, if possible....Anyway I will let you know if I could put the stored procedure solution to work.
    Thanks again for your hint!

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Mobile Apps with PHP and MYSQL?

    Hello,
I don't have Dreamweaver CS5.5 yet and I've been trying to search for information on this but I couldn't find any. I've been learning PHP and been developing with MYSQL with Dreamweaver CS5 but I wanted to know if I can use the same tags and everything if I would to build a Mobile App using the new Dreamweaver CS5.5 (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs-55-web-premium-feature-tour-/dreamweaver-cs-55-jquery-mobile- pages/). I overlooked at the video and it seems pretty easy building an app. So is PHP and MYSQL easily integratable? Are there any examples that I might be able to check out?
    Thanks!

No. PHP is a server-side scripting language that requires a server (or server-like environment) to run.
An iPhone (or Android) application does not allow for a "built-in" server (which is resource intensive and has scary security implications). You just can't build an application with PHP/MySQL for a mobile device. Instead you can build a web service that your HTML/JavaScript mobile application can then communicate with. This is the only supported way you can use PHP/MySQL in a mobile app. Again: the PHP/MySQL should reside on a server and your HTML/JS mobile app can then communicate with that web service. That's what instapaper and other applications do.
Frankly, just make a web application that's mobile device friendly and you'll:
    1) Avoid all the messiness of the app stores
    2) Have greater control over what your web app can do (don't have to tow the Apple/Google line)
    3) Have a web app that can work across mulitple mobile devices as well as standard web browsers (i.e. more audience = more $).
    4) Future proof your application (pushing updates to your server and everyone using your web app is updated)
Otherwise, read-up on Adobe AIR and what it supports and remember, the best apps are written natively for the platform (i.e. want to write an app for an iPhone? Learn Objective-C and use xCode on a Mac. Want to write an app for Motorola Xoom? Learn the Android SDK and use inteliJ).

  • Dreamweaver & MySQL Extension for PHP

    Hey guys,
As everybody knows, the mysql extension in PHP has been deprecated and it will soon be replaced by mysqli, so does anybody know where I can find an Adobe Extension I can use so I can start using mysqli with Dreamweaver instead of mysql?
By the way, I'm using CS5, CS5.5, so I don't have access to exchange since Adobe put it to work only with CS6.
    Thanks

Unfortunately there is no extention available at the moment which replaces the old/current msql server behaviours in DW for msqli. Whilst they are/were useful they are/were also were quite limiting.
After Adobe announced that they would be removing the server behaviors in the current version of DW CC and that php announced that it would no longer support the sql extention in it's next release personally I decided it was time to move on. The good news is using sqli to connect/query a database is really quite a simple proceedure. Just Google a few tutorials.
I understand the reasoning for wanting sqli automation BUT its not available at the moment so you have two choices, 1) continue to use the old mysql server behaviours or 2) learn the new sqli way. It wont take you long to get to grips with it. The server behaviours in DW only offered the basics so learning those basics using sqli isn't going to be too time consuming, plus you actually get more familar with the coding.

  • Dreamweaver CC and MySQLi?

We know all about the brilliant move (sarcasm) to remove the server behaviors from Dreamweaver and have to now rely on a deprecated extension to get them back. What I want to know is Adobe not planning on supporting MySQLi?
If you insert a Select field in a form and try to bind it to a dynamic source it will not recognize a MySQLi recordset. (I have to rely on a third party extension just to get MySQLi into Dreamweaver to begin with.
I loved the days when Macromedia cared for and built great software for developers. Seems as if Adobe only cares about design.
Anyone care to answer while I go looking for real development software...16 years of loyalty down the drain...

    Hello,
At DMXzone we've already released (in Sept 2013) a full set of extension for connecting to your database(s) and managing your database content. A great replacement of the old server behaviors technology to create new dynamic web apps built the Ajax way! The extensions are based on PHP PDO  / ASP ADO.
The Database Connector as well as the Database Updater feature a great Database Connection Wizard, fully visual Query Builder to make your work a breeze.
They are available for PHP and ASP
You can check the Database Connectivity Collections and learn more about the features of the extensions on our website:
    For PHP:  http://www.dmxzone.com/go/22151/dynamic-database-connectivity-collection-php
    For ASP:  http://www.dmxzone.com/go/22152/dynamic-database-connectivity-collection-asp

  • MySql - Connection Props - Please help - willing to pay

    Hi,
    My setup:
    Windows XP
    IIS ver 5
    MySQL databse
    Dreamweaver MX 2004
    Language ASP.NET VB
This is driving me round the bend have searached all forums
and nothing is pointing me in the right direction.
    1) First question, can I actually use dreamweaver MX 2004 to
create ASP.NET VB pages and connect to a MYSQL database?
The reason I ask is I have set up a system DSN in >
control panel > administrative tools > Datasources (ODBC)
All works fine connection is successful etc. (MySQl ODBC 3.51
    Driver)
I then open dreamweaver, create new ASP.NET VB page. Go to
the databases panel click the + sign and have 2 options:
OLE DB connection or SQL Server connection. I assume its not
the latter as that is for SQL seerver not MySQL. I have tried every
combination of the OLE DB connection (2options - Templates or
    Build)
    Templates:
    Oracle (Microsoft Provider)
    Oracle (Oracle Provider)
    Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft Access 97 (Jet 3.5 provider)
Microsoft Access 2000 (Jet 4 provider)
    UDL File
I don't think any of the above are correct for connecting to
a MySQL database, so I try:
    BUILD
List of providers this time are :
Microsoft ISAM 1.1 OLE DB Provider
Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Data Mining Services
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Indexing Service
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (***** I Guess its
    this one? ****)
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services 8.0
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
    Microsoft OLE DB Simple Provider
    MSDatashape
OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Directory Services.
So I choose the one highlighted above for ODBC drivers as I
    think this one is correct?
1st option - Use data source name which has a dropdown box
and I can choose my dsn as mentioned earlier.
or 'Use connection String' - I Don't use
2nd Option Logon to server info
Username ***Is this the username and password of mySQL
database because if so it doesn't work, have also tried leaving it
bland and every time i do a test after choosing the initial catalog
to use I get the eror message:
Test connection failed because of an error in intialising
    provider. Catastrophic failure!
All I want to is connect to a bl**dy databse so I can teach
myself the basics but can't get past this first hurdle.
Someone please help! Thanks in advance.

For your eMac, you will need to go with a *miniDV camcorder*, such as the Canon ZR series (current lineup is the ZR900/930/950/960). They all have image stabilization & take stills; the 900, 930 and 960 also have an external mic input.
You may also want to look into an earlier Canon Optura or Elura series camcorder or similar miniDV camcorder from Sony, JVC, Panasonic, etc. There aren't many new miniDV models available anymore, but you can still find them and they are on the lower end of the price scale these days!
B&H Photo is a great supplier to deal with and you will be hard pressed to find prices lower elsewhere.
The eMac does not support AVCHD, so that eliminates any of those newer camcorders (you need an Intel based Mac to capture & edit AVCHD video). The Canon FS line unfortunately records to MPEG2 MOD files, which needs to be converted before it can be imported into iMovie or Final Cut Express. And the conversion is not simple.
