Mysql - Joining a non-related table to other related tables ?

Can someone help me out here? I have 5 tables in my db:
staff_tbl
officelocations_tbl
title_tbl
city_tbl
state_tbl
I am trying to link my title_tbl with the following sql statement but I cannot figure out how because its not related to the office_tbl at all its only referrenced in the staff_tbl... each staff member has a number attached a 1-14 or so which is then related to the titles_tbl.
I have had some help creating the statement that I have so far which is:
SELECT officelocations_tbl.*,city_tbl.*, state_tbl.* ,
contact1.firstName AS c1Firstname, contact1.lastName AS c1lastName, contact1.middleInitial AS c1middleInitial, contact1.suffix AS c1suffix, contact1.accredations AS c1accredations, contact1.phone AS c1Phone,
contact1.faxNumber AS c1FaxNumber, contact1.mobilePhone AS c1Mobile, contact1.email AS c1Email,
contact2.firstName AS c2Firstname, contact2.lastName AS c2lastName, contact2.middleInitial AS c2middleInitial, contact2.suffix AS c2suffix, contact2.accredations AS c2accredations, contact2.phone AS c2Phone,
contact2.faxNumber AS c2FaxNumber, contact2.mobilePhone AS c2Mobile, contact2.email AS c2Email,
partner.firstName AS c3Firstname, partner.lastName AS c3lastName, partner.middleInitial AS c3middleInitial, partner.suffix AS c3suffix, partner.accredations AS c3accredations, partner.phone AS c3Phone,
partner.faxNumber AS c3FaxNumber, partner.mobilePhone AS c3Mobile, partner.email AS c3Email
FROM officelocations_tbl JOIN city_tbl ON (officelocations_tbl.cityID = city_tbl.cityID)
LEFT OUTER JOIN state_tbl ON (officelocations_tbl.stateID = state_tbl.stateID)
LEFT OUTER JOIN staff_tbl contact1 ON (contact1.staffID = officelocations_tbl.contact1)
LEFT OUTER JOIN staff_tbl contact2 ON (contact2.staffID = officelocations_tbl.contact2)
LEFT OUTER JOIN staff_tbl partner ON (partner.staffID = officelocations_tbl.partner) "
I am needing a way to pull the title_tbl info which is a titleID and titleName and echo out the title name into my recoredset which is the above mysql. I hope this makes enough since for some help... Can someone help me out?

Hi Davide,
Could you provide an example that helps understanding your scenario (e.g. screenshot of the pivot-table you want to create)?
Have you read about the concept of disconnected slicers? Even if you do not want to use a slicer to filter down your TAB_TIME table, that concept could help.

    i got this msg box error:
    Error prop_id is a invalid identifier.
    basically i have querying form a non rel_dbms.
    with this statement
    select a.case_nbr, a.Aplc_id
    from Tcase a
    , tloc b
    , tla_prop c
    where c.plan_area_nbr = '1'
    and b.loc_id = a.Prop_id
    and a.Aplc_id = b.aplc_id
    thanks for responding
    here is the first
    query.
    select prop_id, plan_area_nbr
    from tla_prop
    where plan_area_nbr = '1'
    then i got a bunch of prop_id's from tla_prop that has plan_area_nbr of 1
    the second query will have
    select aplc_id, loc_id
    from tloc
    where loc_id is equal/the same prop_id from the table tla_prop
    the third selection
    will contain aplc_id from table tcase = aplc_is from the table tloc
    select case_nbr, Aplc_id
    from Tcase
    where Aplc_id = Secondselection.prop_id
    the goal is really to get the case_nbr with all criterias from query1,2,3 and table 1,2,3.
    any ideas?
    hmm, thanks in advance

    Hi
    Try this:
    select a.case_nbr, a.Aplc_id

    where c.plan_area_nbr = '1'
    and b.loc_id = c.Prop_id

  • Cartesian join on 2 dimension tables, with count aggregation?

    Hi, I have 2 dimension tables, Students, and Subjects, and a fact table, Marks. (simplified)
    the Students and Subjects dimension tables both have a 1-N relationship with Marks, so reporting works fine.
    However, there are some students who does not have a score in a certain Subject, so when I generate the report of each Subject's scores by Student it'll be
    Subject Students Marks
    English A 89
    ......... C 70
    ......... D 60
    Maths B 30
    ......... C 80
    because Students and Subjects are joined by the Marks table
    What I'd like to see is
    Subject Students Marks
    English A 89
    ......... B 0
    ......... C 70
    ......... D 60
    Maths A 0
    ......... B 30
    ......... C 80
    ......... D 0
    The joins between the dimension and fact tables are all set to "Left-outer join" (where "left" is the dimension table)
    I thought I needed a cartesian/cross join on Subjects and Students, using the dummy table technique here: http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/densification_repository#the_cross_join_between_the_dimensions
    But it didn't work, not to mention that I have a feeling that this doesn't really apply to 10g or my problem.
    Can someone point me in the right direction on this? Thanks!
    Above problem solved, but I also need a column of "Count of students who scored 50 or less" which includes the students who did not have any scores. Adding the dummy column to my report breaks the aggregation in my report, while removing the column will take me back to square one.
    How do I generate a report that does aggregation that takes into account the students with no scores?
    Edited by: lum on 28-Mar-2012 20:13

    Here's what I did:
    I created the physical table with 1 column, and did a complex join with expression "1=1" on the 2 tables that my actual fact table was directly joined to (and none of the indirect joins). I'm using 11g, so to do complex joins I had to use Manage->Joins
    Then I added the dummy column to my Marks fact table in the BMM layer by just dragging it and set the aggregation rule. And then to the presentation layer too.
    After updating the repository onto the server, the table behaviour is still the same as before, and the dummy column didn't do anything and displayed a blank value.
    Could it be because of my other joins that make this dummy join not work? I don't even know if this 1=1 complex join work in 11g....!
    Has anyone tried this join technique in 11g? Thanks!
    PS: My dimension table and fact tables are actually logical tables that join several tables at the logical table source layer. My dummy fact table just joins the most detailed layer of the physical dimension tables.

  • JDBC for non-relational Databases.

    Hi All,
    correct me if I am wrong in my understanding,
    1. JDBC are a set of specifications (as interfaces etc..) which each
    vendor is expected to provide implementation.
    2. JDBC is for relationsla databases only (like oracle,MySQL etc..) it
    does not take into account the access to non-relational databases.
    3. If 2 is true, is there an equivalent of JDBC for non-relational
    databases?
    TIA.

    1. JDBC are a set of specifications (as interfaces etc..) which each
    vendor is expected to provide implementation.
    Broadly speaking, yes. It doesn't have to be the vendor that provides the implementation, and an ODBC driver (to be used via the JdbcOdbc bridge) is adequate if a native JDBC driver is not available.
    2. JDBC is for relationsla databases only (like oracle,MySQL etc..) it
    does not take into account the access to non-relational databases.
    It expects tabular results. Aside from that I don't think it mandates anything about the design of the underlying system. Certainly it's entirely agnostic about syntactic issues.
    For example, it can talk to Excel spreadsheets, via the JdbcOdbc bridge, and Excel is by no stretch of the imagination a relational database. IMS is not a relational database, but that has a JDBC driver.
    3. If 2 is true, is there an equivalent of JDBC for non-relational
    databases?
    2 is not true, and I'm not aware of any "non relational" database connection standard, probably for this very reason. There may well be vendor specific tools for talking to some systems.

    When you create a Block/form without any base table, ie., Form
    containing controls which are not necessarily related to one
    table is called non base table block/form.

  • How to join two pl/sql tables .,.,,Urgent pls help

    Hi,
    Please tell me how to join to pl/sql tables with example
    thanks
    asp

    If your main intention is to get the common records/or getting whole records from the 2 different pl/sql arrays then , pls check this piece of code & explanation
    The SQL language has long offered the ability to apply set operations (UNION, INTERSECT, and MINUS) to the result sets of queries. In Oracle Database 10g, you can now use those same high-level, very powerful operators against nested tables (and only nested tables) in your PL/SQL programs and on nested tables declared as columns inside relational tables.
    Let's take a look at some of the syntax needed to do this, starting with UNION.
    First, I create a schema-level nested table type:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE strings_nt
    IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(100);
    Then I define a package and within it create and populate two nested tables of this type, each containing some of my father's and my favorite things:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE favorites_pkg
    IS
    my_favorites strings_nt
    := strings_nt ('CHOCOLATE'
    , 'BRUSSEL SPROUTS'
    , 'SPIDER ROLL'
    dad_favorites strings_nt
    := strings_nt ('PICKLED HERRING
    , 'POTATOES'
    , 'PASTRAMI'
    , 'CHOCOLATE'
    PROCEDURE show_favorites (
    title_in IN VARCHAR2
    , favs_in IN strings_nt
    END;
    In this package, I also include a procedure to show the contents of a strings_nt nested table. This will come in very handy shortly.
    By defining these collections in a package, outside any program, they persist (they maintain their state and values) for the duration of my session or until I change or delete them. This means that I can now write programs outside the package to manipulate the contents of those collections.
    Note that this package has been simplified for the purposes of presenting collection functionality. In a production application, you should always take care to "hide" your package data, as with these collections, in the package body, and then provide procedures and functions to manage the data.
    Suppose, for example, that I would like to combine these two collections into a single collection of our favorites. Prior to Oracle Database 10g, I would have to write a loop that transfers the contents of one collection to another. Now, I can rely on the MULTISET UNION operator, as shown below:
    DECLARE
    our_favorites
    strings_nt := strings_nt ();
    BEGIN
    our_favorites :=
    favorites_pkg.my_favorites
    MULTISET UNION ---- Use INTERSECT , if you want to know common records
    favorites_pkg.dad_favorites;
    favorites_pkg.show_favorites (
    'ME then DAD', our_favorites);
    END;
    The output from this script is:
    ME then DAD
    1 = CHOCOLATE
    2 = BRUSSEL SPROUTS
    3 = SPIDER ROLL
    4 = PICKLED HERRING
    5 = POTATOES
    6 = PASTRAMI
    7 = CHOCOLATE

  • Order by on a non-base table field

    I want to order by on a non-base table field in a form. Can any body help how to do this in a form.
    Thanks

    Ramesh,
    I am not sure of ver 4.5. But in v6i, I did something similar.
    What I did was :-
    1. Based the Block's datasource on a stored procedure and
    not TABLE
    I'm not sure if it can be achieved in 4.5. First check if the block data source can be based on a stored procedure.
    Here's a sample code of what i did :-
    /* Description : Using a stored procedure as a block datasource.
    Author : Shailender Mehta
    Create Or Replace PACKAGE my_datasource Is
    /* Shailender Mehta */
    TYPE outrec is RECORD (comp_id tbgp_gl_detail.comp_id%Type
    ,cc_id tbgp_gl_detail.cc_id%Type
    ,journal_no tbgp_gl_detail.journal_no%Type
    ,account_code tbgp_gl_detail.account_code%Type
    ,debit_amt tbgp_gl_detail.debit_amt%Type
    ,credit_amt tbgp_gl_detail.credit_amt%Type
    ,sort_order Number(1)
    TYPE outcur is REF CURSOR RETURN outrec;
    PROCEDURE outquery (resultset In Out outcur
    ,p_journalno In Number);
    END;
    Create Or Replace PACKAGE BODY my_datasource IS
    PROCEDURE outquery(resultset In Out outcur
    ,p_journalno In Number)
    Is
    BEGIN
    OPEN resultset FOR
    SELECT comp_id
    , cc_id
    , journal_no
    , account_code
    , debit_amt
    , credit_amt
    , Decode(substr(account_code,6,1), 'g', 1,
    'd', 2,
    'b', 3,
    'h', 4,
    'f', 5,
    'a', 6,
    'c', 7, 8) sort_order
    FROM tbgp_gl_detail
    WHERE journal_no = p_journalno
    ORDER BY 7;
    END;
    END;
    Use the Block Data Wizard, which will guide you step by step what next to be done.
    In my example, I'm sorting the resultset by the 6th character of the string Account Code.
    In your case, you could join the main table by the one used in your POST-Query in the stored procedure and sort the resultset.

  • Query on Non-base-table column in form

    Hi,
    Does anyone have an example of code to allow users to query on non-base-table column from forms? For example, a personnel form displays a persons' name and department name. The form is based on PERSON table, which contains the department id, not the name. The form uses post-query to display the department name. When in query mode, the user wants to enter department name, and display the people in the department (still using this form, which is based on PERSON table.
    Thanks!

    Try this:
    For data block person set these properties as follows:
    1.Set Query Data Source Name = "person , departments"
    2.Set DML data target name = "person"
    3.Set Where Clause to join i.e. condition "person.dno = departments.dno"
    For filed department name set these properties as follows:
    1.Data base item = "Yes"
    2.Column Name = "departments.dname"
    3.Query Only = "Yes"
    4.Insert Allowed = "No"
    5.Update Allowed= "No"
    6.Keyboard Navigable = "No"
    If you face ambiguous column name check for the same filed name exist on both tables and set column name for this filed to person.filed_name

  • Access attributes for a non spatial table from mapViewer JavaScript API

  • TDE Tablespaces Joining on Non-TDE tablespaces

    I need to do research and a proof of concept on ASO and the Table spaces TDE and I am not finding a really good set of information on what is important to my clients requirements.
    I am using Oracle 11gR2 and we are implementing ASO and using the TDE Table spaces concept, we will be eventually connecting and/or joining to other Oracle Tables spaces which some are TDE encrypted and some are Not. So what I am trying to find out before I go through the huge hassle of standing up machines to test these processes is are Joins or remote connections to Non-encrypted table spaces a show stopper, meaning it’s not possible??
    Does anyone have any comments or direction towards Documentation or papers that discuss this and show positive or negative compatibility?
    thank you in advance for any and all positive comments.

    There are no restrictions on joining tables that are in encrypted tablespaces with tables that are in non-encrypted tablespaces or with joining tables across databases (I'm assuming that's what you mean when you use the word "remote") where one of the databases has encrypted tablespaces and the other doesn't. I don't know of any documentation that discusses this, however (it would obviously be very challenging to try to document every possible feature interaction).
    Architecturally, since the decryption for tablespace-level encryption occurs when blocks are read from disk, by the time the SQL engine is attempting to perform the join, there is never any encrypted data to worry about. So it would likely be difficult to create such a restriction even if Oracle wanted to.

  • More than one join condition for 2 tables in obiee

    Hello,
    I am using obiee 11g.
    There are 2 tables tableA and tableB where the join condition is like (tableA.col1=tableB.col1) or (tableA.col1 is null and tableB.col1 is null)
    where should i do these type of joins.
    I tried putting in physcial layer->f(x) but giving error like here only columns an d opertaors are allowed.
    Thanks

    ok here it goes.
    I have a tableA with columns col1(pk),col2 and other columns
    I have tableB with columns col1(pk),col2..Only these 2 columns.
    Now distinct tableA.col2 values are put in tableB.col2. For those distinct values i have put the tableB.col1 values.
    Now tableA.col2 as well as tableB.col2 can be null beacuse there may be null values in tableA.col2.
    Now in tableB i have added one more row which has col1 as value and col2 as null.
    Now when in physical layer when i do tableA.col2=tableB.col2 i dont get the null values.
    What i want is whenever the tableA.col2 and tableB.col2 is null then take tableB.col1 for those vales.
    So when i query i do
    select * from tableA,tableB where
    ((tableA.col2=tableB.col2) or (tableA.col2 is null and tableB.col2 is null))
    What i want is when i do a join i should be able to give this OR condition in rpd thats it.
    because when i do in where clause of content tab it goes like a AND condition and not OR.
    Thanks
