Nano not connecting with iTunes

I have windows xp and my computer recognizes the usb but every time I open up iTunes it doesn't recognize my nano. The "do not disconnect" flashes. Any help?

wait a little, it takes mine a little time to reconize my nano but it does i have windows xp too.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

You've managed to permanently damage the phone. As gdgmacguy suggests, buy a new one. Preferably from a legitimate source.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

I did a software update this morning. The three updates were: "iDVD Update", 'Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update", and "Safari". After that my two iPhones (one is my wife's) can not connect to iTunes, nor iPhoto. I switched cables and the connection port with no success. Had to be the updates as there is nothing else different that I did. And yes, I restarted both the computer and iPhones, several times. Need help!

I had the same problem. My update was the new itunes along with your listed updates and my iphone takes over 3 hours to sync if it actually syncs at all. I get the spinning color wheel and can't use the rest of my computer. iPhone 3G, macBook Pro with all the available updates. Please help.
