Nano not quite friends with iTunes

Everytime I connect my iPod or a friends iPod (both nanos) to my computer after iTunes recognizes the device it ejects it. Ive changed the USB port i use (for reference I use an eMac 1.25 Ghz).
If I change the permissions for iTunes by making the owner me and not the system and then selecting the permissions as "no access" my iPod will stay mounted to my computer.
I've reinstalled iTunes and that didn't work. Ive done a whole system restore on my mac and that also didnt work. Any ideas? I thought maybe it was a song on my iPod that i downloaded in a shifty and shady way (limewire...aqlite...the such. listen I'd love to use the iTunes store for all my music needs but there are some songs and artists iTunes doesnt have) but i quickly threw away the theory of that because my friend doesnt have any of the same songs as me. Very different taste in music. SO what are your thoughts?

OK this works for Windows, and I'm not sure about mac (I don't have access to my mac to experiment right now). When you connect the iPod, if you press and hold ctrl+shift, it will keep iTunes from recognizing the iPod and opening. Try ctrl+shift, opt+shift, and apple+shift to see if it works on the mac. It might be a Windows-specific command to stop any autoplay though, so there may be no or a completely different mac equivalent.

I recently had a problem with my nano 4 GB so I restored it to its original factory settings. Now when I plug it in to the computer it shows up in My COmputer but NOT in Itunes. I tried the troubleshooting techniques on the apple ipod suppport page for this problem and they didnt work. When I plug in my 4 GB Mini ipod, it shows up on Itunes so Its not a problem with itunes or the cable.

You state you updated your iMac to OS X 10.8.5. Did you update iTunes as well?
If so, you may find the calendar sync options under Info.

Iphone does not sync ringtone with itunes

My iphone 4 does not sync ringtone with itunes. I created a new ringtone in itunes ( file.m4r) , tagged it and started syncing with my iphone, but the new ringtone does not show among the ringtones in my iphone

Now it works, don't know how, but iot works, since I changed into sync manually started a sync process unsuccessfully and get back to re-sync automatically.
Used sync all ring tones instead of sync selected ones, but I tried this before and it did not work.
Very strange, should have been this change, otherwise I really dont't know why it works now and not before

I seem to recall that another user has this problem and found that it was because of some corrupted music files they were trying to sync over.
Try syncing smaller bunches of tracks till you come upon the ones that cause the error. You should be able to find out which ones are causing the trouble this way.
The other user said they used something called MP3Diags. I cannot vouch for this software at all, I have never used it.

Nano not showing up in iTunes or My Computer

I had to reformat my computer hard drive and reload my computer with Windows Vista Ultimate. I lost all of my music on my computer but they still are on my Nano. I tried to reload the music from my Nano to my computer but that didn't work and now I can't see my Nano on iTunes or on my computer. I have reset the Nano several times and uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes, but nothing has helped. Can someone give me steps to correct this? I don't want to lose all of my music on my Nano............

Try redownloading itunes, and ( i had this problem with my aunts ipod nano)and plug your ipod in, something should pop up saying whether you want to transfer your purchases or something else...pick transfre purchase. Then, if your computer isnt authorized, another screen should pop up and it should say your computer isnt authorized, go to Store and Authorize (in main menu at the top of itunes). It should work then but if it doesnt im sorry and good luck with your iPod.
p.s. I have a ipod video so mine might work a little differently when it comes to how itunes works, and recovering your songs ( also, check your computers' hard drive to check and see if some of your songs were back up on the back up drive..probably not but it doesnt help to check) but if my information is inaccurate im very sorry

Ipod does not sync correctly with ITunes

Hello, and thanks in adavce for responding.
A couple days ago I connected my Ipod to a different PC with an older version of Itunes. I did not asociate the library nor synchronized the Ipod with it. When I connected my Ipod in my main PC where I keep my library, it seems as if it does not sync all my files correctly. For example, I have some TV shows in my library but they don't seem to transfer into my Ipod, when they used to before. I have the same problem with the photos. I have re-set my Ipod to factory settings a copule of times with different results. The first time, the photo's would not appear, and the second time, the TV shows did not. Furthermore, my ITunes library does not show photos anymore, but they do appear in the Ipod. It seems as if the Ipod is confused with ITunes, but I honestly don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

Nano not being seen in Itunes

Hi there,
Hoping someone can help me with this before I finally give in and send this nano in.
I have a 4gig nano which I am connecting to windows. I have the latest itunes and the latest update to my nano.
Here's what's happening:
- When the nano connects to the computer, itunes launches, but the ipod doesn't show up in itunes.
- the nano shows under windows explorer
- the nano can be updated by the update software
I've tried the following:
- Reinstalling itunes
- Reinstalling the ipod service
- Resetting the ipod
- Reformating the nano via windows explorer
And here's the kicker...
I am able to connect another ipod nano with exactly the same software and specs (its just white instead of black) to the PC and have it work fine.
Any ideas?

My nano was doing this as well. I would connect it, itunes would launch, but the ipod was not showing up in the source list.
I resolved the issue by closing itunes the first time when it auto launched, resetting the ipod while connected to the computer, and letting itunes relaunch. usually the ipod was seen once itunes relaunched. If not I would shut itunes, reset the ipod again, and ipod would show under source list once it came back up.

Nano can't communicate with iTunes

When I open iTunes (6.0.4.2) it works fine. I can use it to listen to Music on my PC but when I connect my nano to my computer I get the DO NOT DISCONNECT thing and iTunes says "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly...". I have gone through iPod appears in Windows but does not appear in iTunes to no avail. I can't put new songs onto my iPod.
Also the iPod updater (2006-01-10) says "iPod service error" as soon as I start it up even if the iPod isn't connected. So I can't restore my iPod. I have tried reinstalling the updater and iTunes from the Apple website and from my disc but that didn't help.
Windows media player and Windows explorer can both access the iPod but I'd much prefer if I could use iTunes.
Before all of this started heppening it was working fine and I managed to get some songs onto my iPod but I can't put any new ones on. It stopped working when I got the latest iPod updater but it might now be because of that (because I hadn't used the updater, only installed it, when it stopped working).
Is there anyway to fix all this?

The errors you getting suggest something wrong with the iPodService, suggesting it not working correctly, as connecting the ipod does not work, and the update detects a problem with the service.
Suggestions
1) Check the service properities for the ipodService.
Goto Control panels >> Administrator Tools >> Services
Scroll to the iPodService and right mouse click and select properities.
Check the following
Path is C:\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
Enabled and started
Logon (tab) is set to local system account
Dependencies (tab) shows RPC Remote Procedure Call and RPC is started.
2) Would thought deinstall and reinstall would of worked.
Before deinstalling stop the service (iPodService) Suggestion deinstall the ipod for windows (add remove programs control panel)again. Check the service has been removed. Reboot.
3) Manually remove the service and reinstall the updater.
This usually requires searching the regedit for name of service and removing any entries, can be extremely dangerous so probably not recommended. But does sometimes resolve problems of services not working.
3) Check Windows event view for errors as to this service.
Goto Start >> Run >> %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s
Type in : %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s
and press enter, check to see if any errors are report for this service. And post them to forum or search apple support.

Apple TV (1st Gen) not fully syncing with iTunes 10.4

Today i discovered that after syncing my Apple TV with iTunes 10.4 after a few weeks nearly all music and movie files have vanished from ATV.
ATV has the actual firmware and was working fine till last iTunes update.
Syncing shows up about 60 music files ... instead of >10K
I have tried to delete the computer from ATV which erased all files and re-connected ATV with the controlling computer, no change.
All other devices like iPad and iPhone are still synced with all files.
Internet Access from ATV works fine, playback of all synced files works fine .... but ATV simply does not sync all files.
Any ideas ?

Have you Authorised your Computer...
Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

TS1362 Please provide assistance with Itunes 10.7 and the songs not playing correctly-jumping and missing.I did not experience this with Itunes 9.2

Please provide assistance and guidance as I have recently just downloaded Itunes Version 10.7(much to my regret!)and now experience all types of sound issue-problems such as jumping,skipping and generally poor audio.
I have tried all the driver checks,music enhancer and equilizer de-activation on Itunes and defragmented my computer,but the issues are still there.
I have had NO problems with Itunes 9.2 in the past and now when I tried to re-install 9.2.;the system will not allow me to downgrade.
Is it advisable and poosible to downgrade without any loss of Itunes material?
Any suggestions as to how are would be able to resolve this OR is this an issue that is widespread and Apple need to address in a further upgrade?

To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes. Probably best to also remove other suppporting software, e.g. Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support & Bonjour. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

500+ items can not be synced with iTunes..?

After syncing with iTunes, my iPhone 5 says "514 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information." Where on iTunes do I find this information? How do I know what is not syncing and figure out how to get it to sync? I'm confused...

I see now after the Sync, a !triangle appears next to my mini in iTunes. Clicking on it brings up a list. Sure would be nice to be able to Save that list, since I can't fix anything while that list is showing! And once you close it, the warnings disappear along with the triangle. I ended up using Grab to save the info.
Reset Warnings also makes the triangle go away. Along with all that info.
