Nasty ltfs problem

I'm using LTO5 tapes with ltfs on linux and found a nasty problem.
It happened twice that a tape became read-only after i/o error. At the same time the cleaning led of the tape driver turned on.
With a tape read-only you can still copy all your data from tape to disk and recover everything, however if you unmount the tape, perform the cleaning and try to re-mount the tape you discover that your data is completely lost. You cannot recover it with ltfsck whatever option you may use.
HP should warn about this and probably should change the driver so that you cannot easily unmount a tape that turned read-only in this way.
I think also that ltfsck should be able to address this problem.

Go to the manufacturer's web site and either email their tech support or review their FAQs and knowledge base for help.

  • Nasty highlights problem in Lightroom

I've been a die-hard Nikon Capture user for some time but am trying out LR. On the whole I really like it and would buy it as it is likely to save me a load of time post-processing big event shoots.
However this evening I've found a really quite nasty problem with highlight detail that is now seriously putting me off the product.
OK, take a look at this picture. This is straight out of my D200 with no processing applied in Nikon Capture 4:
    http://www.robgillespiephoto.co.uk/piccies/fire_nc1.jpg
This second example is the same NEF file but fed through Lightroom - all values defaulted:
    http://www.robgillespiephoto.co.uk/piccies/fire_lr1.jpg
Notice how bad the flames look?
OK, this one has been run through Lightroom but with the highlight recovery setting maxed out to 100:
    http://www.robgillespiephoto.co.uk/piccies/fire_lr2.jpg
But wait, look at this 100% crop from the same processed version - notice the odd red pixels that look a bit like paint has been daubed on the photo:
    http://www.robgillespiephoto.co.uk/piccies/fire_lr3-crop.jpg
I've tried playing with both Exposure and Recovery settings and this is as good as I can get it. I'm really disappointed that LR is not able to process this highlight detail sufficiently.

What is the color temp you have natively there, and what is set in LR?
You could post the RAW file for folks to take a crack at converting it to your taste. The only other one today was too cold <2000k to be properly processed. ?Er, don't think that's the problem here....

  • Nasty Computer Problem I Cannot Solve!

I have got a nasty problem going on with my computer that I cannot solve. I work from home, but I worked for Microsoft 10 years ago. I am a techy person and am very security conscious but this problem has me completely stumped.
I have reformatted my computer at least 6 times, if not more, and done complete re-installs. I have used software that deletes all partitions and overwrites every single byte on the hard drive with 1s and 0s, I have wiped the drive including the master boot
record, I have purchased a new router and I log in as a user vs. an administrator but this problem keeps coming back with a vengeance.
I have used several virus checkers. It does not seem to be a virus or a rootkit. It turns off the firewall, opens ports, and turns my life upside down.
No matter what I have done thus far, this problem keeps finding me. It locks down security policies and ultimately turns me into a user and the last time I tried to block it, I lost all admin privileges, they are completely taken away.
This problem is something I have been struggling with for months and with everything I have tried and the investigating I have done; I have determined that my computer thinks it is a work station reporting to a windows server version 8 or 12. It is obeying
the server and overriding the simple settings that you can do in the control panel through the security policies. This person/problem has more authority than I do, it can override everything I do.
When I turn off settings such as do not allow remote connections, it doesn’t work.
Are there services or settings I can disable or turn off to stop my computer from turning into a controlled work station and not allow this to happen? I want this turned back into my little home computer and completely password protected.
I appreciate any help or solutions you may be able to give me.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
As Lewis mentioned before, what is shown up under control panel\system, computer name, domain and workgroup settings?
If this is connected to a domain, we can run gpresult /r or rsop to check the group policy applied to the machine.
but according to your description, I guess this machine should be a standalone workstation, so it is not controlled by any DC\servers. Since you've tried to reinstall the system for multi times, and the issue persists, so I'd like to know the installation
media or image you used to install the system. If the media or image contains some third party program or additional settings, then that might explain why the system behaves abnormal, so maybe we can try another installation disk.
Regarding to the badbios virus, I did some research on the internet, if we got a issue like this, it's recommended to reset the bios or update to the latest version of the BIOS. Personally, I recommended you contact PC vender or send the pc to a vender
shop and see if they have any ideas.

  • Nasty looking problem on arch64

    Hi,
    I've been recieving the following message over and over in my messages file since last night;
    Sep 13 11:12:04 cumberdale ata4: EH complete
After first recieving it I restarted my machine and found that the slash partition was totally corrupted. I've rebuilt now and the error has just reappeared, has anyone seen this before?
    Thanks,
    Barry

    jacko wrote:

so you've reinstalled and your still getting the error, is that your point? If that's the case then it surely isn't an arch64 error, much more like a hwd failure.
your not really making to much sense to me. Maybe you could explain your problem a little more in detail? Like where the error is being reported, slash partition? what about it? what fs type is it using? etc...
Sorry, just woke up. Never make too much sense in the morning
Last night after noticing the error and rebooting, my ext3 filesystem on the partition that holds / everything was corrupted, I could run some binaries but others couldn't be found. (My /home & /boot are on different partitions and they are fine). One thing I noticed was that on my fallback kernel everything worked perfectly.
The error is being reported in /var/log/messages.log and apart from that error I haven't found anything else relating to it except that my machine isn't performing as well as it usually does. I'm afraid to reboot just now as I suspect things will go haywire again.

  • Nasty Permissions Problem

I uploaded some files from my old iMac (running 10.5.x) to my NAS, and placed them in a folder with files from an account on my MacBook Pro (an account which no longer exists).
Somehow, permissions were changed to "no access" for the group "everyone," making it impossible read or write to the folder.
I've done a fair amount of researching, and I have a general idea of how to fix this (namely, changing my current UID&GID).
Could someone point me in the direction of a relevant tutorial or attempt to walk me through this?

    Good Evening, TheNoel,
Simply try (with guaranteed success) BatChmod by Renaud Boisjoly
    (a frog eater like me),
or FileXaminer by (I don't remember,
    it's said on BatChmod site).
These softwares solve ANY privileges and permissions issues,
and *even more*, but *be careful*.
They both are free, but you should give them $10,
as I did myself, when I solved my *Disks Locked* problem
(have a look by searching "disks locked" in discussions.apple).
If you want something more expensive (is it reassuring ?),
MacPilot (Koingo), *TinkerTool System* (Marcel Brezinc)
and other softwares (I can tell you the names) have dedicated sections
to solve these ennoying authorizations issues.
There's absolutely *no need* to go into Terminal.
I hope having helped you ?
    Best regards,
    Vialatte

  • Nasty (PC) problem

This may not be the right place... but I'd appreciate any help.
I have an iMac running off a Netgear DG834G router, my wife has a PC on wireless from the same source.
Her PC has just frozen, no way could it be restarted so I turned power off and on again to get only a single flat intermittent repeating audio tone with a dead screen. Tried it over and over with same result.
My iMac is fine on and offline and the router settings look OK (and I have 'remote access' permanently disabled).
It's obviously a PC thing, maybe something nasty got through somehow, or it's just gone and failed.
Anyone familiar with the symptoms? Thanks in anticipation, or I'll have to enter the PC world for advice....

  • Nasty RAID Problem

I have a two slice software RAID 1 (mirror). Leopard.
For some reason I unplugged one of the slices. I believe it was while the RAID was not mounted, but I cannot recall. Once i noticed the drive was powered down AFTER the RAIDset was remounted, I plugged the drive back in.
    Nothing happened.
Forgive me if I am being naive here, but the returning slice should be checked and updated, right?
So as nothing happened, I decided to manually rebuild the slice.
This failed, so I still have a degraded RAIDset.
The verify and repair of the slice is greyed out. I would like to repair the slice and rebuild it, but not sure what to do next without causing MORE problems.
    Any ideas?

It's been a while since I played with a RAID set, but from memory:
You should be able to delete the array (but not erase the disk) from Disk Utility and mount the good drive as a standalone, with all the data on it. You should then be able to erase the suspect drive and create a new array, which will then mirror the data to the blank drive.
Do some more research on this, as I'm not 100%.
As a side note, I was once advised not to use a software RAID to mirror my boot drive. Apparently it can cause issues.

  • Nasty printer problem

    My question is:
Where should I look for printer configuration files??(esp.paper format)
Story: Everything worked properly when I loaded printer modules(lp,parport,parport_pc) and installed CUPS for the first time.
Then, sth went wrong and my CannonBJC-240 started printing in some weird format, instead of covering the whole A4 paper format it only filled half of the page, like one column. I've tried reinstalling cups(&wiping all the cups config files in /etc/cups), ghostscript, gimp-print and the weird format setting is still there. I wouldn't like to reinstall Arch only because of this and I know there must be a configuration file responsible for this. Not sure where it is though. :?

    Hi Dreameen,
Did you try to configure the printer with the web interface?
      http://localhost:631/printers
Select your printer and click on "Configure printer". The page size (and other printing parameters) can be changed on this page.

  • Nasty international problem

I have an iphone, i am in japan, I had an irish account, refused to download apps.
"you account is only valid for irish itune store"
I change the account and bill info to japan, no its refusing to download with "you account is only valid for japan itune store"
The main reason was for apps. did i just buy a brick?

Well it's not a brick - bricks don't even turn on, let alone anything else.
Are you accessing the app store from the iPhone or from a PC?

  • Cshow problems in Distiller 9.1

    Hi all,
I'm having these nasty PostScript-problem which I can't seem to find a solution for. Out of all the files for three major newspaper being distilled every day I get the following postscript-error on 1-3 files every day:

If I send the same PS-files to the RIP they will RIP with no problem. If I open the same PS-files in Apple Preview they open fine with all fonts embedded as subset.
I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with fonts, but can anybody point me in the right direction?
Actually I have 8 files that all fail on a Windows 2008 Server running Distiller 9.1. I I run the same files through Distiller 9.1 on another computer running Distiller 9.1 under Windows XP (using the same settings), 5 out of these 8 files are OK. Same thing happens if I run the files through Distiller 9.1 on Mac OS 10.5.6

Please understand that this forum is absolutely not an official portal for Adobe Technical Support nor is it official feedback to Adobe's engineering organization. It is a user-to-user forum frequented primaily by end users.
It is very unclear from your posting what your problem is. The original thread was related to what appears to be intermittent PostScript errors occurring when distilling certain PostScript files into PDF with Distiller 9.1. The problem file was analyzed at Adobe and the problem was not reproducible at that time with that particular PostScript file with the provided joboptions. Furthermore, the problem wasn't consistently reproducible on the user's systems. It seemed to vary by system. Perhaps it was a temporary disk space issue, a system configuration issue, etc. But we never were able to find the problem.
You are stating that you “have several eBooks in PDF format that seem to suffer from the same issue.” The problem originally stated was not with PDF files, but rather, with processing PostScript files. Thus, it is not clear how you are relating whatever symptoms you are seeing in Adobe Reader and Acrobat Standard with PDF files with PostScript errors in Distiller.
Please better describe exactly what symptoms you are seeing including error messages, screen shots, etc. such that some assistance may be provided. If it isn't a Distiller error, you really should have started a new thread, and preferably in the Acrobat forums for which this seems to more appropriate.

  • Problem ordering data

I am having some problems ordering the data I receive from a query. Each row returned by the query is a chapter from a book held on our Intranet. These chapers weren't necessarily put on the Intranet in the order they appear in the book, but I need to extract each chapter in the order it appears in the book. The only field that I can find that would reflect any sort of order is the 'title' field. The title field is a VARCHAR2 that begins with the number of the chapter/sub chapter.
Each title is of the form: '1. TITLE', '1.1 TITLE', '2. TITLE', '2.1 TITLE', '10. TITLE', '10.1 TITLE'. My problem is that because the single digit titles to not have leading 0s if I try and ORDER BY that column, then chapter 10 will come after chapter 1. I would like to order the result set in the correct order. Any ideas/suggestions?
I hope I have explained my self well enough - Many thanks for any help.

Nasty little problem. The real fix is to have a proper relation design - which means that the chapter number and chapter title should be in different columns. The former should be numeric of course.
As it is now, with both in a single varchar2 column, I do not see an easy way to fix this.. instead I would rather aim at correcting the design as follows:
Add a new numeric column to the table called chapter_number.
Add a new insert trigger on the table that extracts (SUBSTR and TO_NUMBER) the chapter number on insert and set chapter_number equal to this value.
Use the same code to do a once off update of the entire table in order to populate chapter_number.
Alter the table and make chapter_number a NOT NULL constrained column. (to prevent this problem from occurring again)

  • New PC and yet same old problems

    Hi,
I've just put together the PC in my signature and have already run into a bunch of problems. First and most irritatingly - this is now the third PC i've put together that has problems with jumpy graphics in games. It never really bothered me before because i'm not big on games and tend to use my PC for video encoding etc etc. But this latest PC i built (on a budget) for games as Half Life 2 will arrive soon i thought i'd start gaming again!
Anyway, a little tricky to describe but i hope you'll understand what i mean when i say the graphics are jumpy or jerky. They sort of stutter. Now this being the third PC i've had with the same problem will lead you assume i have a nasty power problem in my house. Well no, cos thats what i thought. My power supply is very good and to be extra careful all my PC's now have a UPS with voltage regulators onboard.
I thought this could be a memory issue (AMD 64 platforms seem to have a fair few problems with memory) but memtest cleared my Mushkin memory at stock settings after close to 8 hours testing.
So i've done some benchmarking and testing and thought you may be interested in the results. PCMark04 - All my results check very well compared to similar systems except my CPU score, that was lower than expected. Another interesting point would be my Sandra scores, again all scores faired well except the CPU Multi media score that was lower than an XP 2000+. Hmmmm....
3dMark etc is all good (again except CPU scores in 3DMARK03) so i don't know what more to say about that. Heat is a possibility, my readings show the CPU runs @ 43c idle, my case tells me the system runs at ~28c, but i don't know if that CPU reading is accurate because i haven't updated the BIOS yet, which leads me onto my next problem...
I can't seem to update the BIOS because when i get to the A:\ prompt in DOS i can't get to any other drive. i.e. i can't type in "c:" to change drive so i can update the BIOS which is really annoying. I'm not sure whats up here - probably something setup wrong in the BIOS but i wouldn't know.
Thirdly, more of a question than me moaning, is it ok to have the SATA controller sharing an IRQ? I will post my IRQ's at the bottom of this post.
But if this graphics problem has happened to me three out of three times, then i must be doing something wrong each time. Well plenty to think about and there are probably some very good explanations.
    Thanks for your time,

I tried turning off fast writes and lowering the hardware acceleration and believe me this is like the 4th install of windows i've done trying to sort this problem out. Still no prevail though.
What about the harddrive flickering, should it be doing that whilst i play games?
You should be using Sata 3 or 4 , not 1 or 2.
Also DIMM 1 and 2 for memory (those closest to the CPU)
if you are using an Nvidia card the agp fastwrites is usually what causes hangs, and freezing.
Strange that you should build three PCs all with the same problem.. What is the common factor here? if its the Video card, i suggest getting a new one.

  • HT5381 i did a software update and now mail wont open at all

Help......my mail app is coming up with an error "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X".  Can I uninstall the update?

    !! WARNING !!
    about the September 2012
    "Security Update 2012-004"
If you've got "Mail.app" in a folder OTHER THAN the root "Applications" folder,
MOVE "MAIL.APP" TO THE APPLICATIONS FOLDER
    **BEFORE** INSTALLING THE "004" UPDATE!!
Because *IF* you use OSX's integrated Software Update app from the Apple menu to do the "004" updating, and *IF* your Mail.app is NOT in the Applications folder, then buddy, you've got some sitdown fixit time ahead of ya and/or some internet tie-up time downloading the "004" update file itself.
Been through it all, already.  In fact, just got done getting my Mail back up & running. And I tried everything short of attempting to unpacking my "Mail.pkg" receipt file using... whatever... even Pacifist couldn't get it out. So that fixit "Plan D" died quick. And I'm not savvy enough to use Terminal commands to do "Plan E," so that SUDO stuff was my brick wall.
So I compressed my entire "Mail" subdirectory that contain all my emails, for safekeeping during the required surgery, or whatever would work, leaving the original Mail directory where it was. In case something bad happened in all my fixit whatevers, the one thing I *didn't* want to cross paths with was a hosed Library -> Mail folder. Then I'd be pssd. But I can wipe out that ZIP now 'cause all's well now. After 6 hrs of downloading thru a mobile broadband hotspot running at only 14KB/sec speed due to my having gone over my T-Mobile hotspot plan's bandwidth amount (throttled-down after reaching the limit, tho not cut off completely. Kinda nice, but it's a huge speed drop).
I tried moving the two Mail.app versions around, compressing them & then trashing the original so they wouldn't be recognized, blabla, even booted my Mac in Safe Mode & reinstalled the "MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) Update Combo.dmg" update file, which in the past has fixed many problems. But after restarting, not this one.
Like a dummy who ignored knowing better, I had my Mail.app in a folder other than the Applications folder, with only an alias to that being in the Applications folder. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The updater don't see that as nuthin special or useful.
So if you've got, like I've got, "old" icons for Mail.app (v4.5) in your Finder toolbar & in your Dock that all point to "Mail.app v4.5" in whatever folder you've got that in, other than in the Applications folder (where Apple apparently REQUIRES that it be located, and ONLY there, at least for OSX updating purposes), then after you download & autorun that "004" updater using Software Update, NONE of your pre-existing Mail icons will work. And MOST aggravatingly, **NOR** will your brand-new "Mail.app v4.6" work that came out of the "004" updating installation.  So basically, your Mail.app's... all of 'em.... are hosed. But only if you run the "004" update without your "Mail.app v4.5" being located in your Applications folder and ONLY in your Applications folder. And duplicates of Mail.app, scattered around your HDD??  Always a problem with many Apple apps.... The Apple software engineers apparently like 'em to be in the Applications folder, and in ONLY there, and ONLY the latest version, and ONLY 1 single copy of each on your entire HDD. They just don't seem to stress that enough, it appears. Kind of an oversight for them to not emphasize that, IMO...
My recommendation for this particular September 2012 "004" update:
If you run Software Update, and if you see the "Security Update 2012-004" listed as available for download, UNCHECKMARK IT.  DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT USING SOFTWARE UPDATE !  Instead, download the actual update file itself.
Same thing, only a different way of doing it. Most importantly, you'll be skipping the auto-installation that Software Update performs.
AND you'll have that update file on your HDD for future fixits, should a nasty "unfixable" problem come up.
First, #1. Do a filename search for "Mail" (Option-Command-Spacebar). Scroll down to where the "Apps" are located in the list under the "Kind" column heading. First, find your Mail.app that's v4.5. Get that bugger into your Applications folder if it's not already there. Next, Trash all other "Mail.app" apps you see in that same list that you may have elsewhere on your HDD.
    #2. Go here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586
And download the actual "004" DMG update file: "SecUpd2012-004.dmg"
And of course, it's a biggie.... 270MB... so watching grass grow may be involved here if you've got a slow connection (go to a MacDonalds & do it, like I shoulda done).
    3. After downloading, I'd recommend closing down all apps, emptying the Trash, and restarting.
Then, after restarting, run Disk Utility's "Repair Disk Permissions."
Then, doublecheck that the Mail.app version 4.5 is in your Applications folder.
THEN fire up & install "SecUpd2012-004.dmg."
    Reboot.
After the reboot, your Mail.app version 4.5 in the Applications folder will have become Mail.app version 4.6 in the Applications folder, and all will be well again.
And you can dump that zipped-up "Username -> Library -> Mail" folder then, too.
    Happy Mac'in!

  • ITunes Self-Shut Down

I was usingiTunes and it shut it's self down after one of my playing tracks started skipping then and error came up and siad, iTunes malfunction, Send Error Report, Don't Send. I chose to send the report and nothing happened then I went back onto iTunes and found that the money I had in my account was gone...all of it. Can anyone help me?
It was also money from a gift card so I tried to re-redeem it and it said it already was redeemed so now I don't know what to do.

    That sounds like malware.
Go do an ewido scan. It is catching a nasty Windows problem that Norton and mcAfee and other are missing, that messes with iTunes.

That is classic malware infection behavior: something works and then suddenly stops. You might want to curtail your instant messaging, a common source of infestation.

  • Aperture creating new version of image for each adjustment applied!

To anyone out there who can sort this one out, I will be forever grateful!
Here's the problem. I'll be jamming away in Aperture, adjusting photos like a madman. After adjusting a random number of photos (it usually varies between 5-30 photos or so after starting Aperture each time), the adjustments panel will no longer update when I click on a new image (i.e. it holds the info from the last image I adjusted and will continue to apply new adjustments to that last image even if another image is highlighted). If I switch to the metadata panel and then back to adjustments it will refresh itself and recognize the currently selected image (although I have to do this for EACH image I want to adjust once it starts acting up like this). The BIG problem is that even if I get the adjustments panel to recognize the selected image at this point, for EACH adjustment I apply it makes a new version of the image. For example, if I first change the contrast, it will make Version 2 of the image and select it (which is what it's supposed to do for the first adjustment, because I have "create new versions when making adjustments" checked in my preferences), but if I then make another adjustment like changing the saturation, it makes Version 3 of the image (from the master, so that only the saturation adjustment is applied and not the contrast adjustment). As you can imagine, this utterly destroys my once incredibly efficient Aperture workflow and makes it pretty much impossible to use Aperture for adjustments unless I turn off "create new versions when making adjustments" in the preferences, at which point it does seem to work again (although I've only tried it on a few images, so not 100% sure it will work properly even then). If I restart Aperture (or my computer), it will work normally again for a few pictures and then will start acting up again with the same problem.
Originally I was running into this problem on my PowerBook G4, and so I figured it was just because Aperture didn't like my wussy G4 processor and was acting up when the load got too heavy (after all, the adjustments would work fine for up to 30 images or so). However I recently purchased a sexy iMac 24" 2.8 GHz and maxed out the RAM to 4GB, but I'm still getting the same darned problem with Aperture on my iMac. Yes, I'm using the same library of photos I was using on my PowerBook G4.
This problem has been plaguing me for about 3 months now (everything else in Aperture works fine so I'm still using it to import and organize my photos, I just haven't been able to make adjustments on large groups of pictures for a while), and I've searched and searched these forums countless times to see if anyone has run into similar problems, but I've not seen a single mention of it. I've also tried EVERYTHING mentioned for similar problems (rebuilding library, vacuuming database, erasing com.apple.aperture.plist preference file, repairing permissions, reinstalling Aperture, making burnt offerings to Steve Jobs), and NOTHING is working. ARRGH!!
For those who might have some words of wisdom to offer this delighted-***-miserably frustrated Aperture user, here are a few more details about my setup:
I have a library of about 37,000 photos, the vast majority of them being RAW .CRW files from a Canon 10D. The 25GB library file is stored on my internal hard drive, and all photos are referenced from an external LaCie 500GB FireWire 400 hard drive. I have a LOT of export plug-ins installed in Aperture, but no image adjustment plugins. I have generated previews turned off for all projects. I've had the same problem on both my PowerBook G4 and new iMac 24" 2.8 GHz. One other thing worth mentioning is that instead of upgrading from 2.1 (which was already giving me this problem) to 2.1.2, I downloaded the full version of 2.1.2 and installed it. I noticed that my 2.1 Aperture.app file was less than 100MB, whereas the 2.1.2 Aperture.app file is over 300MB. Don't know if that's normal or not.
The only other thing I can think of to try at this point is to load a new library into Aperture and import a large group of pictures and make adjustments to them to potentially see if my problem is being caused by Aperture or by the library. Will probably try that tomorrow.
I would appreciate any advice or feedback anyone can offer about this nasty little problem, as it's giving me a serious hormonal imbalance.
    THANKS!

Thanks for the reply RB, but my current workflow depends on me creating new versions when I make adjustments. I suppose as a temporary solution I will probably have to either turn this preference off or just be willing to constantly restart Aperture. At least I finally found another thread with the same problem, so finally I don't feel completely alone in the far reaches of the Aperture universe. For anyone who is interested, here is the link to that thread:

It appears this problem is closely related to the ubiquitous black viewer problem that seems to be plaguing far more users than my issue (although I've run into the black viewer problem a few times myself), as both problems force Aperture to output the following message to Console:
Main Thread Exception in Aperture: * -NSCFArray objectAtIndex:: index (1) beyond bounds (1)
It seems that both of these problems existed in Aperture 1 and 1.5 up until the 1.5.6 upgrade which seems to have fixed it, but then with Aperture 2 the problem seems to have returned. At least that's the gist of what I've been reading on a number of threads. Whatever the case, I hope Apple gets this sorted out in their next update!
As it appears there is no proper answer to this problem at the moment, I'm gonna go ahead and mark this thread answered (and since you were kind enough to at least take the time to reply RB, you can be credited with the answer... thanks!).
