Native Mail app unable to get new mail after updating to iOS 5.0.1

Just after I installed 5.0.1 (OTA) I've noticed that native ios mail client is unable to get new mail messages anymore. I have three seperate mail accounts (Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud) connected to my iPad2 and none of them works after this software update. All I get is three seperate error messages (Cannot Get Mail) one after another for each account, same kinda of messages as you get once you try to open your Mail app with no internet connection, but this time it's not an issue as my iPad is connected to my home WiFi which is working just fine.
I've tried to restart my device, checked mail settings, made sure all the passwords are ok by typing them once again for all the accounts and I managed to get confirmation that they're ok with no difficulties using the same device.
All other apps that uses internet connection seems to be working with no problems as well.

Any ideas?

Once I got new mail messages to each mailbox it seems that everything got back to normal.

Mail app crashes when getting new mail

Seems like it crashes while getting new mail. I had 'letterbox' plugin installed, thought that may be the problem, uninstalled it, but mail.app keeps crashing immediately after starting (while checking for mail). Any suggestions what the problem could be? Thanks!

Mail.app doesn't retrieve new mail

MAIL was asking constantly for Password on IMAP server. Couldn't hold on to it. Now I don't even get that. Activity Window show near constant cycling of Registering Synchronization Preferences (I think that was it). And ... never retrieved mail from IMAP server. ISP says they have no answer on their end and their experience with MAIL since 10.5 has been buggy, with no fixes on their end. Suggestions, please?

I too am having this problem with Mail (on 10.5.6). Im not sure when the problem started, but I have noticed it more recently (past couple of months).
I too have an iPhone and receive my MobileMe email and Exchange (university account) email instantly. I understand that both of these are correctly configured for 'push' email on my iPhone, but I would have thought that they would only lag by a few seconds in Mail on my MacBook Pro.
I have often found that I receive the email on my iPhone and then wish to reply to it on my laptop, only to discover that even if I press 'Get Mail' the email has not been retrieved.
The only way that I have found to fix this is to quit the mail application, re-launch it and then find the new mail waiting for me.
I can understand that this lag will be more obvious on the exchange account (due to the iPhone fully supporting exchange and active-sync). But I dont understand why I get a large lag (sometimes 10 minutes) with my mobileme account, even when mail is set to check every minute.

Crashing Mail app and problems getting AOL mail

I've been struggling with 2 problems for a while now. First, MAIL just unexpectedly crashes and this is usually not while I'm actively using it. I'll come back to my MAC and see that mail has crashed and have to restart it.
Secondly, and more importantly, I seem to be receiving mail in my inbox inconsistently from my AOL email address. I have new AOL mail in my inbox but if I take my accounts offline and then immediately back online, and then search for new mail, I find a bunch of AOL mail that wasn't in my inbox before. Some of this can be from previous days. Older mail not just new mail that hasn't been received yet. Also, occasionally I will read an AOL message, will NOT delete it, and it will disappear from my inbox. If I follow the procedure above, the mail will sometimes reappear in my inbox as previously read mail.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any – the text, please, not a screenshot.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent one and post the contents – again, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

Mail very slow to get new mail after Lion upgrade

After I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion my Mail application has become very sluggish. It takes ages to show new mail from my Gmail account. It seems to spend ages downloaded messages. If I access my Gmail via Safari it is virtually instant.
Any advice most welcome!

I had a similar problem and it was related to my wireless network settings. The Lion upgrade had created a second wireless network setup named Apple 888.b1 on my airport/time capsule. I deleted that second phantom one so it was just back to the one that I had setup and everything is fine again.
So if your broadband connction is wireless you might check the wireless settings and see if a second network setup was created.

I am unable to activate my 3gs iphone after updating its software from ios 5 to ios 6.0.1. It gives the message: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support."
I have read many blogs on the same problem on different websites but could not solve this issue. I am quite disappointed.

Yes that was but it was long time ago when it was jail broken.
Is there any solution now that I can bring it on the working path again?

Certain apps on iPad won't run after updating to iOS 7

Apps like iPhoto, AVPlayerHD and Modern Combat 4 are shadowed and say "installing" after pressing on them. They don't run. I tried to delete them and sync them again over iTunes, turned restrictions off, but nothing seems to work. It all happened after i updated to iOS 7 and ran the backup. Help pls?

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

FYI, no one here works for Apple. We are all users like yourself.
Activation issues are typically the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken to unlock. Is that the case? If so, no help can be provided via these forums.

Unable to restore iphone 3GS after updating with iOS$

I have a 32GB iphone 3GS purchased online in hong kong and therefore fully unlocked. I updated the software with iOS4 and now it will not fully restore and the error message is "error 29". The phone serial number, phone name etc have all been deleted.

OK, so nothing else was working so I took my phone into the Genius bar and explained what had happened. The Genius said He was unsure what error 1013 was so he looked it up and explained "It's an error related to the baseband and that more than likely the phone was unable to communicate with Apple servers as Apple had the phone marked as non existent"
He continued to explain that there was a fix he could do but would be quicker and easier to replace my phone. He did so and I left happy.
I recomend you just take your phones in if you are having this same issue!

In mail.app I only get 4 emails at a time

Hello, since I updated to OS X Lion, I'm having problems with the Mail.app. Bassically when I ask it yo get new mail, it onley get 4 email at a time. After that I have to press again the Get Mail button to get more mail.
Does anyone have something like it? Have you solved it?

700p suddenly gives invalid user/password message when trying to get new mail

My Yahoo Mail Plus account is working fine. When I use versamail on the Palm Treo 700p to retrieve emails from my active Yahoo account, I get "-ERR(Auth)invalid user/password" message. I can access my Yahoo Mail account from the "Web" app on my treo.
So it is definitely a VersaMail issue. This happened after it had been getting new mail (and sending) successfully.
Can anyone help?

unfortunately Yahoo and their Branded contracts just don't work as advertised and neither the ISPs Nor Yahoo appear in the slightest bit interested.
If you delete the popstate.dat file in the profile folder in the yahoo server directory, it will restart the download again from the top (Everything)
You might also find that disabling email scanning in your anti virus program may be beneficial. (Could it be McAfee?)
The majority of RETR complaints here are from ATT and BT users, both of whom get McAfee given in by their ISP.

HT1338 get new mail in all accounts button doesn't work

Clicking on the 'get new mail in all accounts' button in Mail doesn't work (after a few seconds it beeps). I have to close the app and re-open to receive mail. I also have my account setup to automaticaly receive every 1 minute, but that doesn't work either.

I have this problem, too. Did you ever resolve it?

Apple mail never gets new mail

My apple mail will never get new mail automatically, it is set to check new messages every 5 minutes. If i open the application, it will then get my new mail but never without me opening the app. Am i doing something wrong?
