Navigate from Web Dynpro app to portal page

Dear All,
I've created a number of Web Dynpro applications which I run from various portal pages. From one of the Web Dynpro's I navigate to a different portal page using the WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute method. This works fine, but I'm left with one problem:
I'd like to pass parameters from the Web Dynpro which navigates to the portal page to the Web Dynpro applications which run on that specific page. I've appended the parameters to the URL I'm navigating to (eg ROLES://<pcd location>?<param=xxx>) and in the Web Dynpro's I've added a parameter to the Default interface plug. This doesn't seem to work. As an alternative I've added the statement WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("param") to the doInit() method of the view, but this also doesn't work.
Either I'm doing something wrong, or what I want to accomplish is not possible. Does anybody know of a way to access parameters passed to a portal page from Web Dynpro applications contained on that page?
Thanks,
Arnoud

I hope you are passing parameters between two WebDynpro applications.
Please go through the example available for passing interaction between two webdynpro components.

  • How to call jsp from web dynpro app.

    Hi Frndz,
    How can I call a JSP from my web dynpro(and here i don't want to redirect to JSP ),I want to call a JSP which can show a message window as alert on top  of WDP view.
    Here am using CE 7.2 SP1, and my requirement is to call the model(back end) for every minute interval and need to give alert that how many new records r added.With WDP java i haven't find any option to give alert r notifications about new records added, so am thinking to call JSP where I will pass the parameter which can show a alert r notification(like FACEBOOK n outlook notifications).
    Please share any ideas ti achieve this,
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    If your application should open in a new url, then you can use link to url action to open jsp.
    You can also use EPCF navigation api to call any pcd page as well external links
    i.e
      WDPortalNavigation
          .navigateAbsolute("link",[parameters]);
    Since your passing parameters, you build url in both the cases.

  • Navigate from Web Dynpro application to an iView URL using parameters

    Hi all,
    I have a problem navigating from a Wed Dynpro application to an iView URL. For the navigation, I use the WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute() method. The navigation works fine, unfortunately any parameter that I pass to the iView URL is ignored.
    Here is the code I use:
    WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
    "ROLES://portal_content/rack_visualization/RackView",
    WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
    WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.ALLOW_DUPLICATIONS,
    "space=1&style=3&rack=none");
    The RackView iView is based on the "iView URL" template. I expect that the navigation points to a URL like my_encapsulated_url?space=1&style=3&rack=none. Unfortunately the parameter passing doesn't seem to work.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Christophe

    did u get this working ???
    I have a similar issue with the url iview.

  • How to close portal page by Web Dynpro App

    Hi There,
    I would like to close a portal page by clicking a button of a Web Dynpro App which is inside an iView on that page.
    Is this possible or not?
    Bertil

    Bertil,
    First, it is very bad decision to make decisions instead of user. Just redirect him to logoff page and let close window himself.
    In WebDynpro you may use <b>Exit plug</b> on interface view with parameter <b>Url</b> (notice the case) of type string.
    Then you may previously fire this plug with JavaScript url: javascript:void(window.top.close())
    In recent versions of WD this will not work. So you have to redirect user via exit plug to some static html page, that contains in header <script>window.top.close();</script>

    Hi All,
    I wanted to know is it possible to navigate from one Web Dynpro app to another which does not belong to the same project. if yes how.

    Hi Siddarth,
    If you want provide the interaction between two Web Dynpro applications then you must develop those projects as Development Components as DCs provides the reusability of the components created.
    You can  through these link to find out more information:
    Where to start DC creation  ?

  • Prob. exec. print job from RFC which im calling Web Dynpro java in Portal

    Hi,
    Ive got a problem executing a print job from an RFC which im calling in Java web Dynpro Application in Portal. Im using an Acess Method G: for Front End Printing but Order gets stuck with the Status "Waiting" "Front end unavailable".
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    HI,
    I dont think you would be able to do this. Instead, you need to get the content from RFC into WD java and print from the browser.

  • How to change the web page title of a web dynpro app?

    Hello,
    I would like to change the HTML page title of a web dynpro application without renaming the application component itself - but how?
    Thanks for your comments!

    Hi M Walter,
    Assuming you are using Web Dynpro Java, you can change the title of the Web Page for Web Dynpro App by adding the title to the main window of your app.
    Go to Windows and open the properties. There will be a field called 'title'. Give the title you want, save, build, DC->Build and deploy.
    The title you gave to this Window will be displayed as the title of your Web page.

  • Portal dynamic iView from Web Dynpro ABAP?

    I wish to use a "Dynamic iView" from a Web Dynpro ABAP application, but it appears the API is only available in Web Dynpro Java.  Can this feature be used from Web Dynpro ABAP, or can this be accomplished in another way?
    Scenario: I have two iViews on a page, one Web Dynpro ABAP and another iView whose source I want to change dynamically based on something a user clicks in the Web Dynpro ABAP.
    Dynamic iView:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/44/a72c155df77038e10000000a422035/frameset.htm

    So you are suggesting the WDA fires an event to a new WDJ that we would need to create that would in turn use the Dynamic iView service mentioned in that help document?

  • Push data/ trigger event in Web Dynpro app

    Hello All.
    I'm a newbie with web dynpro.  I have a need to “push” information to a web dynpro application.  Is there a way I can trigger an event in web dynpro to refresh the screen from another application running on the Netweaver J2EE?  Is it possible to implement an ActiveX or AJAX  application to retrieve server data and communicate with a web dynpro app running on the enterprise portal?
    Your help will be appreciated.

    Hi,
    You can search for portal eventing...subtscribing event and unsubscribe it etc.

  • Retrieving EP roles from web dynpro

    Hello
    I'm sure this is a common problem but I've checked all the older posts and I just can't get it working.
    We have a web dynpro app that runs within an EP iView (EP6SP14), and we need to retrieve the portal roles for the user.
    With the APIs (using IRole and IUser and the getRoles() method) we only get the J2EE roles. These are not the same.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    have you tried to read the groups of your user? As far as i know, the roles from EP are mapped to the groups in J2EE.
    Try something like this:
    IWDClientUser user = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
    Iterator groups = user.getSAPUser().getParentGroups(false);
    while (groups.hasNext()) {
      String bez = UMFactory.getGroupFactory().getGroup((String) groups.next()).getDisplayName();
      // bez contains your roles (groups)
    i hope that helps
    regards

  • Catch event from Web Dynpro for Java

    Dear guru's,
    we have a working Web Dynpro for Java. It delivers a company code that needs to be routed to a visual composer model. In the Web Dynpro we use the WDPortalEventing.fire command to trigger an event named 'ShowCompanyCode' in namespace com.sap.vc:epcm. In the visual composer, I used a 'signal in' for the same namespace and event name. However, the supplied value for the company code is not received. Both iviews (from VC and Web Dynpro) are on one page.
    I have enabled the flash debug console and did some testing with a VC model that consists of two iviews on one page. Here it does work. I have found some differences in the debug output that points in a direction.
    In the case of the VC iviews, I get the following string in the debug console: signalinAHAPP -<Params version="2" ><Row STR1="1000" /></Params>. This results in a correct transfer of company code value '1000'.
    When getting the info from the Web Dynpro iview, I get the following string:  signalinAHAO8 -1000. It seems that the web dynpro does not supply the values in a correct way. However, the same mechanism is used to supply the data to another web dynpro iview and that works fine.
    Do we have to use special coding to be able to fire the event to a VC iview? Any help will be appreciated and points will be awarded!
    Thanks,
    Arno

    A. Van de Camp,
    You can create two iViews that communicate with each other on the same page, using client-side eventing, so that the output of the first iView serves as the input to the second. Eventing in the portal is based on the use of the Enterprise Portal Client Manager (EPCM), an object defined by the portal client framework to handle functions such as client eventing.
    To define eventing between an iView created and existing in the portal(web dynpro iview), and an iView created in Visual Composer:
    1.Check the properties of the existing portal iView and find out its EPCM event name.
    2. In Storyboard, open the iView that is to be the second part of the eventing scenario and create the required port: as input or as output.
    3. Double-click the newly-created port and in the Configure Element task panel, enter the portal event name in the Signal name field and the EPCM event in the EPCM event field.

    Sami

  • Calling Remote-Enabled JAVA Module from Web Dynpro Java

    Anyone have a clue how I can call a Remote-Enabled JAVA Module in ECC from a Web Dynpro Java app?  I'm on Portal 7.0.  When I try and create an Adaptive RFC model in NWDS and put in the Function Module name (CFG_API_FIND_KNOWLEDGEBASES) or its Function group, that RFC is not returned for me to import.  Can I not use this method to get at this function?
    (I CAN call this function module and run it from the old SAP Business Connector software.  That, however, does not help me get it into my Web Dynpro app.)

    If anyone stumbles upon this thread, the long and short answer is you can't call a Remote-Enabled JAVA module in SAP from Web Dynpro Java.....using Adaptive RFC.
    You can, however, if you create your own session and function call directly in Java code and give up on being able to use Adaptive RFC.

  • How to get the Response Code when a URL is launched from Web Dynpro

    Hello Experts,
    I have a Web Dynpro Application in which in one of its views i have an IFrame UI element in which i will show a resource stored somewhere ..
    But before showing it i want to check if the resource actually exists. For this i have to check the HTTP Response code from Web Dynpro Application without setting it in the Iframe..
    I am using the following code to get the Response Code:
    try{
    URL url = new URL("Some Url");
    HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);
    HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    connection.connect();
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Response code ="+connection.getResponseCode());
    }catch(Exception e){
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Exception");
    Now the Problem is whatever response Code occurs 403 (for No Proper Authorization), 404 (for Resource not found) etc..
    i always get Response Code=  500 (which is for Internal Server Error) shown in the messgae i have printed.
    Please let me know the correct way of getting the Response Code from Web Dynpro.
    Also my resource is lying on a SAP Portal 6.4
    Best Regards
