Navigation bar placement

So I had to create a page in Dreamweaver so I could use a specific flash player which was not working by adding the code to a iWeb page. So I hack the page by re-creating the iWeb navigation bar and creating a dummy page in iWeb and redirect it to my "hacked" DW page.
Now I need to match the position of the navigation bar of the iWeb pages and I'm having problems. I was able to match it by trial and error using specific location but its position won't re-adjust when the browser is resized. I'm thinking there was be an easier way to do this properly.
thanks,

Hi
Go to: Application Builder>Application Number>Shared Components>Templates>Edit Page Template>Definition>Body, here you will find some code like "<td valign="top" align="right">#NAVIGATION_BAR##REGION_POSITION_08#</td>" where in the #NAVIGATION_BAR# is set. Also in the subtemplate you have the Navigation Bar and Navigation Bar Entry.
Hope this helps.

  • Why is this navigation bar being pushed out of position?

We added a Solar System Scope feature to our website and it views fine within the DreamWeaver software, however, when viewed "live" the navigation bar is pushed below the Scope. Hope you can help me out. If there is no solution, I may try to add a "Home" button at the top (if possible) and hope that works.
Here is the link to take a look, scroll down to see the navigation bar placement. Thanks for your help!

  • Why has the "Reload current page" control been moved to the navigation bar Firefox 29? I would like to be able to place it where I had it in Firefox 28.

After getting the Firefox 29 download I tried to rearrange my buttons\controls to where I was used to having them in Firefox 28 and prior. I noticed, in particular, that the "Reload current page" control is no longer available to be set in front of the navigation bar where I've had it for years now. The reason I chose Firefox in the first place was because I could customize it to my liking. I know you can simply right click and "Reload" the tab or just get used to going to the end (right side) of the navigation bar but that defeats the purpose completely for me.
Here's an analogy; Ford decides they will now replace current model cars in the US with British standard style vehicles. Every car sold by Ford will now be right-hand steer. While this may seem like a "no biggy" to some, others, especially those of us who are inclined to drive standard transmission vehicles, may be a bit resistant to that change. Not sure if I successfully made my point or not but hopefully I did.
Initially I thought I'd start by "Has someone fallen and hit their head?' or "Did Steve Ballmer suddenly take over Mozilla, in particular the build of Firefox 29, because this one smells like a Windows 8 (aka the aroma of a full sewer tank on a hot day)?" It is understood that updates are required and as an IT guy, I've been around for many a faux pas where the kinks just need to be worked out. They happen. Maybe some consideration will be made with Firefox 30 to those of us in the states that are used to left-hand steer vehicles.
I may be missing something here, and will gladly fall on my sword if that is the case, but there is no indication that I've seen from the Mozilla sight that the "Reload current page" control can be manipulated in any way as of Firefox 29. On the bright side, I now have a good reason to go back and review some of the browsers I discounted back in the day when I decided to go with Firefox.

As far as I know, [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ the Classic Theme Restorer add-on] is the only way move the Reload button outside the address bar.
    # Install [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer] and restart Firefox when prompted.
    # Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), then the Extensions category.
    # Next to Classic Theme Restorer, click the Options button.
    # On the Main tab, make sure "Movable back-forward button" and "Hide urlbars stop & reload buttons" are checked. You might also want to check "Combine stop & reload buttons". Close the options window when done.
    # Right-click an empty area of the tab bar and choose Customize.
    # Drag the Back/Forward, Stop and Reload buttons onto the navigation toolbar.
    # Click the Exit Customize button in the lower right corner when done.
That being said, I should point out that you can reload pages in other ways.
    * Right-click any tab and choose Reload.
    * Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Reload.
    * Press F5.
    * Press Ctrl+R (Mac: Command+R).

Your best bet for doing this would be to make the .jpg a
    background image
so you can easily place a <div> over it.

  • With version 5 of Firefox, if I open more than 1 session, most of the time I cannot see anything in the navigation bar and my back and forward buttons do not work.

I open 1 session of Firefox 5.0.1 and everything seems to work fine. Then I open a second session of Firefox and most of the time the navigation bar does not show the page that I am on and the back and forward buttons do not work. When this happens, the first session always remains working. I am an internet marketer so I have at least 2 or 3 sessions going at any given time.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Navigation bar not displaying correctly in IE6

    Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my navigation bar to display correctly in IE6!!! I've tried using the zoom: 1 IECC for #header, #header li a etc but can't seem to get it to display in the correct place. I'm fairly new to CSS (that's probably obvious!) and have been working through a tutorial to get this far but unfortunately the design you want never quite matches the tutorial!

Any help or any other comments about my coding or design would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Tracie

Oops sorry, I've used them before and forgot they did that soon after a site was set-up! My other site is hosted by them with no problem.
If you are able to see the site now the link is still http://www.lewistest.webatu.com/ ... failing that I will post source code etc tomorrow

  • Navigation bar pinned to the top of the browser window

I have a navigation bar and graphic pinned to the top of the window, but when scrolling the page content goes over the nav bar. How can I keep it on top of all the other content?

    Hello,
    It is quite simple.
The menu is on the master page and this page is always in the background so beneath everything.
Go to your masterpage, click on the menu en use the shortcut crtl x to cut.
Now the menu is on the clipboard.
To paste it use the shortcut crtl/alt/shift/v in every page of your site. (this is called pasteing in place).
Now press in every page (with the menu selected) on the shortcut crtl/shift / ] to get the menu infront of everything.

  • Images in Navigation Bar

Hi I'm new to iweb I've just published my site online (still in progress) when I publish it from a local folder everything looks in order, however when i publish the site online it adds images to some of the tabs in the navigation bar. I've deleted the page several times and inserted a new home page but unfortunately this problem still crops up. I would be gratfeul if someone could help me solve this problem.
    Thx Martin

    I prefer clickable links :
    http://www.designamind.co.uk/
    Anyway, you mean this :
I think you use the Modern Frame theme which has the links in the navbar right-aligned.
You added tab-like images, but these do not fit the links.
    http://www.designamind.co.uk/Design_A_Mind/About_Me_files/shapeimage_1.png
    http://www.designamind.co.uk/Design_A_Mind/About_Me_files/shapeimage_2.png
    http://www.designamind.co.uk/Design_A_Mind/About_Me_files/shapeimage_3.png
Solve it by hiding the nav bar and use textboxes with links and place them on top of the images, or use these images as background of the textboxes.

  • Cleaner Navigation with a second navigation bar

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a second navigation section in a site and how? It will greatly help reduce clutter in the main navigation on the top of the page (Welcome, My Ablums, My Movies, ... 20 other items I plan to create). I need this specifically for a My Travels page or set of pages I would like to create. The way I envision it to work is similar to my current site. A user would click on the My Travels page which will navigate then to a page with a navigation section on the left side of the page that will list places I've been to as a navigation menu (France, Spain, Switz, Turks n C, St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Greece, etc...). They could then click on each place to get content specific to that place with pictures, etc ...
I also didn't want to create 30 different pages (one for each place) and have to manually manange the sub navigation menu on each page. i.e. if I go to another place, I don't want to have to create a new page and have to change all of the other sites by adding a link to each navigation section ...

It wouldn't look odd if you had the page containing the iframe having another appearance than the pages loading into the iframe. However this approach is good to link external sites but less to link your own site as the pages loading in the iframe wouldn't have any navigation bar on them. Thus if someone jumps in on one of those pages from google or whatever he wouldn't know there are other pages as well...
I'm currently working on putting an iframe into each page which will load the menu so that you just have to change the one menu page to update the menu on the whole site instead of changing it on each page, that makes my life easier... Until now I just copied and paste it to all sites each time I changed the menu and that's really time consuming as the site is growing... That also solves the problem of embedding a page in a same looking page as the menu is only a little part of the whole page and you can make it look as it were part of the page...
However in your case I would just make a "Travelling page" (Travelling comes up in the main menu) and on that page make make an index of all your trips (which will not appear as single pages in the main menu, Inspector PageTab, uncheck Include page in navigation menu). So when you click on Travelling page you get the list of:
    Italy
    Switzerland
    Alaska
    or whatever
click on one of those links and you get that page, to get to another destination when looking at Italy just hit Travelling in the Main menu (nav bar) and again you're on the index site and choose another destination.
Thus you only have to change that index page.
    Example:
    http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/Journeys.html
hit Iceland get to the Iceland page
hit journeys in the nav bar
choose other destination (not many active sorry, I'm too busy on other stuff...)
I really do think it's the easiest way...

  • Positioning navigation bar  vertical rather than horizontal on side on web

Is it possible and I think it is to place the webitem navigation_block bar on the side of the page rather than the default position on the top, without modifying the web template ( at runtime)
Even during the design time I am not able to make it vertical in wad.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I don;t see 0Analyser bar as vertical, it is horintal. Below is the code from 0ANALYZER and I located the navigation bar. my guess is that there is a paramname that can specify vertical alignment.Don;t know what that would be. None of the properties has that option..

  • Don't like the Navigation Bar? Try an Image Map.

I understand the simplicity of the Navigation Bar, but being unable to even move the hyperlinks, let alone change the font without resorting to hacking XML, struck me as too simple. I decided not to use it, instead opting for a hyperlink image map, which is really easy to make using iWeb. I put up directions here:
    http://web.mac.com/jadespace/iWeb/1/Fetish/BEC79E6E-E82F-4AE3-9964-6BA510D46F1E. html

The image bit is quite a good idea. I had created menus on my page, for the same reason as I wanted my own fonts. It all works perfectly until I decided to add some flags to differentiate the same pages in different languages and I placed my flags in the top area of the page.
I spent hours trying to understand why they wouldn't work, changing opacity, location, size, until I moved them enough to realise that the top area is restricted to link generated by iweb and if you attempt to place your link to high, it will work in the iweb program but will not publish...

  • Navigation bar is messed up... how to fix?

Help! My navigation bar looks fine in iWeb, but the site shows the words in the wrong places, with pieces missing, and includes one heading (jean ann pics) that I eliminated from the navigation bar. I continue to make changes and those come out fine, but that navigation bar (just the welcome page) won't be corrected!
    site is www.mcelroykin.com
I think that one time when it was publishing there was some kind of error, but I can't recall what it was-- I was on my way out the door...
Any thoughts on how to fix this??
    Thanks!!!!!
    Liz (frustrated in NC)

Yes! There are multiple versions of files like you suggested. How do I know which ones to keep?
Well, the ones to 'keep' should be inside this folder: iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/McElroyKin/McElroyKin Blog (News)/McElroyKin Blog (News)_files. If you are viewing your iDisk's contents as icons and you have View Options set to show the icon preview, it should be possible to visually identify the navbarXnormal.png and navbarXrollover.png files to delete from other folders and to copy the correct ones from McElroyKin Blog (News)_files — but, and it's a BIG 'but', this would be a painstaking process at best, and would inevitably be prone to error.
I'm afraid my advice is quite radical. I would delete everything in iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb (assuming McElroyKin is your only site) and publish again from iWeb.
While you're at it, might I also offer some advice about naming your Blog page? All the rest of your naming convention is excellent (I especially like the main site name of McElroyKin), but by naming your Blog 'McElroyKin Blog (News)' you're asking for long, ugly URLs like those which are showing up — for example,
    http://web.mac.com/bakerlizzie/iWeb/McElroyKin/41F182C9-9B24-42A2-AC53-704C9EAB8 FFA/1316BA2A-99C1-44E5-8F35-0517E4AC5298.html.
Individual blog pages will always finish with that 30-odd-character combination in their URLs, but you can prevent having another one of those earlier in the URL by avoiding certain characters which Apple recommend against using. In this case, I suspect that the parentheses in your Blog name are responsible for this long-windedness, especially when combined with spaces (which, as we all know by now, on their own result in those ugly %20s in iWeb URLs).
Having said all this, I also have to say that I too have experienced this navigation bar problem. I found that the situation righted itself after multiple browser cache-clearings and refreshes and re-publishings. If you're anxious about following my recommendation about deleting material from your iDisk prior to re-publishing from iWeb, you could first try re-publishing a couple of times without making any further changes in iWeb. Empty Safari's cache each time. See if this clears things up. If not, then it's time for the heavy artillery.
