could any one help in creating a web appliation from the scratch. i got a requirement to buid an application with JSP,servelts, structs and backend as oracle 8i / DB2 , with JBOSS server. building the application with ant
i have some basic knowledge on programming but need help to configure the project from the scratch. i had a jdk5.0, oracle 8i/ DB2 8 and a fresh JBOSS application server and also myeclipse tool to build the application. what i have to do for starting up...

I have had the same issue while using BEA Weblogic behind a heavy duty firewall for a large company. What we did was made use of the IIS Proxy DLL and routed all the incoming requests from port 80 on IIS to a specified port on the BEA Weblogic.
To add more complexity to this, the request on port 80 to IIS was being filtered from port 443 from the corporate firewalls.
The user accessed the site from "https" which was routed to port 80 as we were using IIS as the Web Server(Gosh.. I think why we did that), the requests were then in turn funneled to Weblogic to a different port. So the user was unawrae as to where the exact processing is happening. He assumed that it was all good on port 443.

I'm trying to develop a web app, scalability and flexibility are very important to me.
I'm pretty lost right now but I am a quick learner. Basically this is what I need.
I want a web app, but I want to structure it to be able to run using multiple client types. I want to be able to access the business logic using a CLI interface (for cron jobs), as well as HTML over HTTP, XML-RPC over HTTP, and WAP/WML. Does anyone have any advice on how to set this up in a clean, structured way? I'm having a very hard time finding information on the internet.
By the way I am also looking for ongoing tutoring which I am willing to pay for, so I can get help when I have questions like this.

Wow, those are some requirements. You have a lot of work ahead of you.
I think what you will have to do is take a layered approach. Find the lowest-common-denominator (which sounds like it may be XML in this case) and have your servlets return that. Then you will have to implement various frontend- / pre-processors that are capable of taking the XML output from the servlets and reformatting it as either HTML, XML-RPC, JSON, or whatever.

The file you really need is named Domain.sites2 which resides in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb foldler. It's independent from the iWeb application. If it's not in there do you have a backup of your hard drive from an earlier time?
Resinatll iWeb 3 from the iLife 09 disk or wherever you got it from originally and then try what's described below:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Back up all data.

Need to start from scratch, but how?

lost my old iphone 3gs, got my new iphone 4g today. i followed advice and tried to restore from the last backup of the iphone 3gs but it didn't work, i get a crash during the firmware update and then it goe into restore mode, and tries again, and crashes again...
how do i tell it to wipe and start from scratch, because when i plug it in it says its detected an iphone in restore mode so it tries to restore it - presumably using the 3gs settings which dont work..

no everyone, i just found the answer.. so if you are looking for the same thing it is nothing to do with rusty usb cables etc.

Plug in your iPhone.
Close iTunes.
Run "RecBoot Exit Only"
Click the "Exit Recovery Mode" button.
The screen on the iPhone will go black. At this point, UNPLUG the iPhone (before it starts back up)
It will boot up correctly after finishing the firmware install.
Now plug your iPhone back in and complete a normal restore.
