Need additional security for schema data

Hi All,
I am using Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0.
Our client want to secure there data at schema level.
Suppose even though i logging to schema by providing the userid and password the data should not be visible until i provide with some more verification like one more password or something like this.
Please if anybody have idea of such scenario please share with me.

That kind of security needs to be implemented on the application level. If the client logs on from the command line tools like sql*plus, there is nothing like a dual log-in which is going to be there . Yes, you can use FGAC to restrict the data based on some business rules if you want but whether that's what your client needs, you need to clarify .

Do you let untrusted applications install and run? Are you unfamiliar with the Mac OS, to a point where malware that is masquerading as Mac Security would convince you to let it install?
If you answered "No" to both questions, you probably do not need any addtional security than that which is provided with the Mac OS.

Security for Military Data --- our Options -- Share your experiences

We want to secure military specific data in SAP.
We also want to comply with ITAR requirements.
One option is to create roles and profiles and then assign it to users who can view that data. In this approach the biggest problem is over head of maintaining 100's of profiles and roles. Our company does not have suffecient funds or team to do that.
Second option was to use development and here is how we envisioned it.
Maintain an indicator for foreign nationals in HR and also maintain an indicator for military personal in HR. (We are allready doing that, for some other busines process) So this table will tell us if an employee if foreign national or a military personal.

Now we are not sure if SAP has a common routine for authorizations, which we can change and add these conditions in it. (We will do core mod by getting access key).
If we follow this approach will we have to modify a single routine (for all SAP modules) for all master and transaction data transactions, or will it be multiple routines which we will have to modify.
We also need to cover authorization for table maintenence, transaction codes, org structure level...etc.
Can you please provide your inputs/point of view on this.
Will apprecaite if you can share any other option.

Agreed with Wolfgang, roles & profiles are better in the long run than system mod.
There are ways to redesign roles to make them manageable. Example: Derived roles.
If you already maintain the users thru HR, you can assign roles in R/3 to Job, Position, Work Center, etc. Another idea to help you automated the roles assignment.

Additional attributes for APO data objects

Hi,
In order to provide some be-spoke functionality I have a need to extend some APO data objects with additional attributes. This includes: resource, PPM, Order. For all I have identified that I cannot use exisiting fields, therefore my aim would be to add new attributes (either directly or via reference Z-table).
I have two questions:
1. What's the easiest way to extended above objects with additional attributes?
2. Is there a ways to have those additional fields visible for edition from a standard transactions, eg.: /SAPAPO/SCC03, /SAPAPO/RES01, /SAPAPO/RRP5?
Note: I'm interfacing with non-SAP ERP therefore CIF is not in use, while I see set of BAdis for master data inbound processing. Is this something I could use?

As you mentioned, the add. att. are time dependent, it is good to enhance the
0EMPLOYEE structure to handle not only the Master data attribs but also the
time dependent add. attributes..which would be executed along with the Master data chain even after the imp.

Do I need additional security on my Macs above what comes out of the box?

I keep hearing conflicting reports on security issues for Macs. May I ask if I need extra security measures? And if so, which do you advise? I keep getting quarantine reports when I mail my college's network claiming my mail contains spam, I don't believe it does. Do any other students who use Macs to access NOVELL or any college network have this problem. I cannot E-mail documents to my school's account because they quarantine it.

Macs typically don't need any additional security except perhaps a hardware router to intercept ping attacks. If they quarantine your e-mail it probably is because some spammer got ahold of your e-mail and is spoofing your e-mail when they are sending spam. This is a real problem. To avoid getting on the spammer lists:
1. Never publish your e-mail address in its entirety with the @ symbol anywhere except when e-mailing friends and relatives. Posting to bulletin boards be sure your real address is not in the clear.
2. Never subscribe to online purchases mailing lists unless they have a secure server and a good privacy policy.
3. If your friends send you a mass e-mail with your address and everyone else's address visible in the header, ask them to use BCC in their mass e-mails. You never know if your address could get pilfered by another machine's virus and sent off to a spammer. Even Mac OS X has built-in BCC support and if you need to know how to enable it, we'd be glad to help you.
On the security side of things, don't use P2P software. If you want to get downloaded software, get it from reliable sites such as Macupdate, Versiontracker, Download.com that use web browser downloads. Macs typically are quite secure, though occasionally there have been exploits found, which no one has really been able to take advantage of because of the overall security. P2P software though can be a real weak point on any machine. You also don't know if the software you get on P2P is beta or actual release version and using it, you waste the bandwidth of the server you are going through which can add to possible quarantine policies.

Data security for multiple data sources

Dear BO guru's,
I am struggling with a brainbraker on authorizations on Universes since quite some time.
I am not a BO guru so hopefully someone can help me with this.
I (more or less) know the concept of data security in BO: users can be restricted on data level in (mainly) two ways:
1) with roles in CMC and with restrictions in Universe Designer.
OR
2) with a DB table that contains all authorized values per user and per field (i.e. John can see data for country UK)
The first is easy to set up, but hard to maintain.
The second is difficult to set up, but very flexible.
Now here is the problem...
Supporse your BO server is connected to different source systems (i.e. an SQL server, an Oracle server...) and you want only one universe to get data from all systems at the same time and display it in one report.
If I am not mistaken, this means we need a data federator.
...My questions:
1) Is there a possibility to do this without a data federator (but still have one universe to build my report or dashboard on)?
2) Where do I keep the table with authorizations for the users? Is that a database of the BO Enterprise server, a seperate data base, or in a table of one of the source systems (SQL, Oracle...)?
As this questions keeps me busy since long time, I would be very grateful to have your help.
It seems hard to find information on this.

Apart from the Data Federator, you can either use an ETL tool to load your data into a single Datawarehouse or wait until XI 4.0

If you are going to use the Data Federator then you can create the table in one of your source systems and add it as a data source in your DF project.

Help needed in BAPI for uploading data in FB01 - Urgent!!!

    i need to post a document in FB01.
i am getting the following details from the user in a .CSV file.
Vendor no, vendor name, amount, document date, posting datem reference vendor line item text and Gl account line item text.
i am using BAPI BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST to post the document.
Now my req is if the amount is in negative then
   use posting key 31 against the vendor and 40 for GL account
if its positive amounts
use posting key of 24 against vendor and 50 against the GL account.
Now by default, when the amount is negative the function is working fine.
                but when its is positive its posting 21 against vendor and 50 against GL account. but i need 24 against vendor
can any one tel me, where should i pass these value in the BAPI?
or is there any other way of doing it?

Hi,
the posting keys 31/21 (01/11 and 40/50) are hard coded and cannot be populated from the interface. This is because a different posting key could have a different posting logic from what is implemented in the BAPI.
So unless you want to do some modifications here, you have to use the fixed PKs. Pls. let me know if you are interested in where exactly the PKs are defined (hardcoded). I have this noticed for myself earlier but my notices are on another PC

Need a formula for a date in one table to show on a calendar on a "summary" sheet

I have created a simple table for my daughter to keep track of her monthly bill's due dates which are in one row of the table. I'd like to create a "summary" sheet which consists of a calendar that shows those dates at one look, it would also show which bill that is due.
I am just beginning to learn about formulas and have created some simple ones, but this is beyond my talents!
I would TRULY appreciate anyone's help!
I tried to search for this subject first, so apologies if this has been answered already.

Here is what I came up with:
A couple things to remember:
1. I ended up using a VERY large IF function; you can see the multi-colored line of text at the top of the above screenshot (I hope it comes thru alright)
2. You will need to change what date is referenced in the first part of the function. In the first line of the calendar you need to reference cell A2 (as in the screenshot), but in others you will need to use the cell that contains the proper date.
3. This does not work if you have more than one bill due on the same date. I will try and work that out.
4. iCal would be MUCH easier. Not only can you set these due dates as recurring events, but iCal can keep things color coded, send you reminders, etc.

Need additional interface for IDS-4250

I need to add an additional interface to my IDS-4250 (Cisco part number IDS-4250-TX-INT). Unfortunately, these parts are now in an "end-of-sale" status as of May 31, 2005. Does anyone know what PCI NIC this part number really is? I'm sure it's just a "normal" NIC (3Com, Intel, etc.) that Cisco was using. Any help would be appreciated.

You are looking for the wrong part number.
The part number you want is: IDS-TX-INT= (10/100/1000Base-TX for IDS 4235, 4250)
And it is still being sold by Cisco (List price $300).
It is only the base chassis IDS-4250-TX-K9 part number that has been End Of Saled in May.
The optional 10/100/1000 PCI NIC IDS-TX-INT= is still being sold for customers to upgrade their IDS-4250-TX sensors. The primary purpose for selling the additional NIC is to support InLine mode on the IDS-4250-TX sensors.
The IDS-TX-INT= can also be used in a IDS-4235 chassis for customers wanting to run InLine mode on their IDS-4235.
Because it can be used in both the IDS-4235 and IDS-4250-TX it was decided to not put 4235 or 4250 in the product number.
NOTE: IDS-4250-TX-INT is not a valid part number.

My concept is i have a table with just two columns item_name and item_date
Both fields are varchar2 and i want to fetch those records from this table which have valid date format('DD-MON-YYYY').
