Need assistance publishing to Windows store via Visual Studio

Was wondering if anyone could volunteer their time to take a look at a very basic app that I'm creating for work. I'm in the marketing department so Visual Studio is a foreign language to me.
I've created an app in Siena and uploaded to the store successfully once already. But now when I go to package the app for upload to the store, I'm getting all kinds of errors and have no idea what they mean.
Also, when I try to install the app on my PC after publishing from Siena, I get an error that 'Parameter is not valid'.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It's possible that the version of Project Siena you have installed is not the same one when you first published.
Try these steps to see if it resolves your problem:
Download
and install Visual Studio 2013 Express (if you have another Visual Studio 2013 you'll be ok.)
Download
the ProduceAppForStore.zip - this is the latest version.
Publish your App from Project Siena.
Double-click on InstallApp.exe from the folder that was created.
Extract all of the files from the .zip to your project into the folder of your project.
Double-click the ProduceAppForStore.cmd file in the folder.
Install your app.
Follow the procedure Submit the App to Windows Store in this
blog posting.
FYI - Everything mentioned here is in the blog posting - it's just a bit tricky in how the steps are presented up to Submit the App to Windows Store. The blog posting provides more detail to the steps that I've provided here so if you're still running
into problems try reading through that.

Launching VB6 Editor after installing Visual Studio 2013 results in "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual Studio..."

I have had various versions of Visual Studio installed beside Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise for some time with no problems, most recently Visual Studio 2012 Premium.
I recently installed Visual Studio 2013 Premium, and now every time I open VB6 I get a dialog that says "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2013" that shows a progress bar. After it finishes (30 seconds or
so), it launches again and again and finally VB6 will open. This happens with each instance of VB6, regardless if I've already done it once and never run VS2013 in between.
If I cancel the dialog, I get this error message in a dialog: "Error 1712. One or more of the files required to restore your computer to its previous state could not be found. Restoration will not be possible." Several more "Please wait"...
dialogs will appear and if I continue to cancel, eventually I'll get the VB6 editor. It appear to work fine despite the error messages.
It seems to me that the VS2013 installer flagged some dll's or other files to be rolled back whenever starting VB6. It doesn't appear to be necessary, and I'd like to avoid playing the "Please wait" wack-a-cancel-button game before launching each
instance of VB6 (or waiting several minutes for no reason). So how do I fix this?
Note: I've seen something similar happen in Outlook on a different PC when upgrading from 2010 to 2013. The same sort of "Please wait"... dialog would appear each time I opened Outlook. Judging by the "similar" questions that popped up when
entering this forum post, I'd say this is a general problem with upgrading older versions or installing newer versions of major Microsoft software side-by-side.

Scroll a small bit down, and there is a post by Barry Wang explaining that you need to use event viewer to find out what is missing. Anyway, I opened event viewer, then open VS 6, then hit refresh in the event viewer (under Windows Logs -> Application)
and saw a warning message from MsiInstaller. It gave me the following message:
Detection of product '{9C593464-7F2F-37B3-89F8-7E894E3B09EA}', feature 'Visual_Studio_Professional_x86_enu', component '{E3FF99AA-78B9-4A06-8A74-869E9F65E1FE}' failed. The resource 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\URTInstallPath_GAC\' does
not exist.
I opened an elevated command prompt, I navigated to the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder and verified that 'URTInstallPath_GAC' didn't exist, and then I did "md URTInstallPath_GAC".
Closed and reopened VS 6, and it instantly opened - no "Please wait" message.
Now this may or may not be the same problem you are having (problem is - I have had it happen on two separate computers now with VS 6 and VS 2013 installed), but it should point you in the right direction. In fact, you should be able to use the Event Viewer
for anytime the "Please wait" message shows up for any application, and then once there find out what is really missing.

Please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013

After installing visual community 2013 and rebooting visual studio works fine but all other microsoft office programs display "please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013" and continues the installation for
about 1 minute before the program starts. I tried deleting mso.dll and reinstalling but it is still the same. Any help would be appreciated?

Use a tool named collect.exe to collect the log file. Download
collect.exeand
run it directly. The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the VS and .NET logs to
%TEMP%\vslogs.cab. Please upload the
vslogs.cab file on onedrive.

Publish my windows store app, but not until I'm 18?

I am about finished with my first Windows Store app :-) and I went to get a developer account so I can publish the app (I am even willing to let go of $50 for initially publishing a free app), and it said "You must be 18 years old to have a Windows
Store developer account." :-( It said this because I am 17, but I want to clarify here. Are you saying that everyone under 18 is completely locked out of app sharing? Since the Windows Store is the only means of distribution, it is surprisingly inaccessible.
I am not even submitting a paid app yet, so I don't even need to worry about direct bank deposits for getting paid. I'm a bit lucky because my birthday is only 6 months away, but what if there are 15 or 16 year-olds that want to release their app to the world?
I think you should have a type of youth account or something. For example, (if you are under 18 only) it would be free to create, and you can only publish free apps. This seems like the only truly fair way to make up for the monopolistic distribution, not
to mention help the entire Windows 8 app ecosystem.
I seriously don't know what problem there would be with people under 18 publishing their apps. I even work at my community college as a math tutor! Could the restriction be lowered to 16 years old?

Listen, I love Windows 8 and the new app platform, but this requirement is ridiculous, and it needs to get fixed for the good of the platform. Already, only 33% of developers are even willing to develop Windows 8 apps, whereas there are some 16 and 17 year-olds

Alex, I understand your feelings on this, but this is absolutely the same on any other platform. It is also the same for any legal aspect of starting a business. When you start selling or distributing applications through the Windows store, or
via the App Store, or Play... you are exposing not only yourself, but the respective operators of those systems, to all sorts of liability and in order to clearly define rights and responsibilities, contracts are required. For example, you have to sign
a contract that in part attests to the fact that you understand and agree that you won't use your apps as a means of doing or promoting anything illegal. You also attest that you won't rampantly steal content that belongs to others, etc.
The problem is that any such contract you sign does not carry the weight of law; under the law, you cannot enter into a contract and have that contract be binding. Any 'promise' you make under such a contract is thus automatically void and the contract
provides no protection at all to the other party arising out of any action you could potentially take. Not only that, it exposes them to potential liability arising out of allowing a minor to participate in contractually obligated proceedings knowing
those proceedings are null and void.
You would not be able to open a bank account or obtain a credit card without the assistance of a parent or guardian. This is no different.
The easy answer, as has been suggested already, is to have your parent or guardian sign up for a developer account and sign any necessary contracts, and then develop away.

I get error 0x80073cf9 now and I need help to FIX Windows Store can't update any Apps & can't install any Apps now?

Hi I hope some one can tell me step by step how to fix windows 8.1, I can't update any of my Apps and can't install any new apps now and I get error code 0x80073cf9? But my problem is different than most of the other FIXES I read about, because nothing

I keep getting same error code 0x80073cf9 after I try any of the FIXES I have read about and tried all the fixes on my Lenovo Z580 laptop, that came with windows 8 and updated to 8.1. And ever since I bought this laptop I could
always install and update all my apps for the last year when I had Win 8 and Win 8.1 now.   This has been going on since April and May and its driving me crazy!    And from the May updates I did get all the updates and
I also installed the KB update that said I need this KB to get all updates in the future.
But all the other people when they get this error code they could not even open and use any of their Apps already installed. And they also get the error code when they try to update or get a new apps.
But I can click on any APP installed already and use all my Apps with no problems.   I have read so many how to fix this error code but nothing works! :-(     I have tried a lot of

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID. Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

I was using bootcamp assistant to install windows 7 via flash drive, i followed the steps, the Windows installation image was installed successfully and the boot camp partition was made andy mac restarted then i got this message "no bootable device insert

"..no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key", i restarted my mac and held options and managed to log in to my OS x again but my windows wasn't installed and when i held options while my mac was starting the usb flash drive wasn't there, what should i do? Also can i restore my usb flash drive to use it as a regular flash drive again?

Yep, I did get this running. Not in a normal way (meaning the easy way). What I did, is that I just created the BOOTCAMP partition in OS X. Just let it format and create the partition where you would install BOOTCAMP.
After that I discovered that via a ISO program (WinClone) you can directly restore a previously created OS X boot image to your current computer. So, I installed a blank Windows 7 to my macbook pro, didint install any drivers and just let it work up then. Then I went back to os X (in macbook pro) and made a bootimage for the BOOTCAMP partition. After that I saved it to my external harddrive and wired it to my iMac. In iMac I just downloaded the same boot-image program and restored the bootimage that I made in Macbook Pro to iMac. After that I made an restart and the bootcamp section with windows worked well with my iMac. Install the bootcamp soft and you can do everything and everything works. FYI, you get the windows working via those steps, BUT if you either delete or do anything to make your bootcamp partition unworkable then you will have to repeat those steps again. But it´s fast non-the-less, so it shouldn´t be a problem for you.

It looks like you are working with a debug build:

But then further down in your output I see this:

You appear to be mixing debug and release libraries which will not work correctly.
This is in the following step in the blog post:
"Expand Configuration Properties node, expand Linker node, select Input item, enter "oraocci11d.lib" for a debug build or "oraocci11.lib" for a release build."
If you are creating a debug build you need to use oraocci11d.lib as input to the linker.
You use oraocci11.lib as input to the linker for the release build.

Publish cloud service fails from Visual Studio 2013 Update 4: Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.

I have a cloud service project with two roles (service and worker). In Visual Studio 2013 Update 4 when I choose "Publish..." from the "Solution Explorer", it opens "Microsoft Azure Activity Log" and quickly terminates.
Here the log:
9:43:47 AM - Applying Diagnostics extension.
9:44:09 AM - Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.
All works fine when uploading the package and updating from https://manage.windowsazure.com/. It only fails from within Visual Studio.
What can I do to get it working?

I have the same problem with our Azure project. Two web roles (service and worker). Just updated from SDK2.2 to SDK2.5 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 to Update 4. The main reason behind this was to move from log4net to WAD and in doing so, of course directly
move to the new diagnostics version.
Now, I get the same error message in Visual Studio:

but this is no problem - so what's the meaning of or solution to this error messages?
What I found so far:
I deployed the Azure project from the same development environment to another Azure test service: Deployment
showed no errors and the service is running fine! So the problem is not with the source, the development environment, library dependencies etc.
Trying Azure cmdlets for PowerShell also work fine for the new service and fails for the production service with almost the same error message:

Oracle 10g express, Windows Vista and Visual Studio 2005

I have Oracel 10g express and Visual Studio 2005 professional, all installed on Windows Vista and working fine.
I want to use the .net tools but I have had problems to install the wright version for this environment. Has anybody have this same configuration working? What are the downloads I need to have and the steps to have the .net oracle tools working ?

It can be done:
1) Download and install XE. Don't download the special "ODT for XE"
2) Download and install ODAC 11g with ODT into a different directory than XE

Assistance with Imaging windows 7 via windows PE

Hi All.
I require help imaging windows 7 with windows PE.
I have a correctly set up bootable UFD with all PE and imagex files on it.
I have created and prepared the windows 7 installation for imaging and have sysprepped it.
When trying to capture the image to the UFD, it will capture but lasts 3 seconds and produces an 8mb file.
Why is it not capturing the whole image? There are no errors displayed.
I am using the command
F:\imagex /compress fast /check /capture c: f:\install.wim "Windows 7" "Windows 7 Image"

Drive letter might be not same as Windows Explorer under Windows PE, please follow Tripredacus suggestion using disk part check again.

Need assistance with Adobe Reader Distribution via GPO

I am trying to distribute Adobe Acrobat Reader using group policy.
Many workstations already have Adobe Reader installed some even have Adobe Reader 8.0.0
When I try to install adobe reader 8.1.2 it fails.
Should I try to add another group policy to install 8.0.0 and install 8.1.2?
What should I do?

A couple of approaches and all involve a bit of work.
Three steps:
Do the install of the 11.0.0 MSI at the command line
Then follow it with the 11.0.07 Updater MSP at the command line
Finally the 11.0.08 Security Patch MSP at the command line.
AIP
Create the AIP from the three files above then then run the MSI from the command line.

Need help solving script component failure (SSIS Visual Studio tools 2.0 using VB 2008)

I am new to SSIS but believe I have fought my way through this one where I almost have it.
I copied am existing successful package that uses a loop (and VB code) for ETL of a file. The difference is that I have a new Excel file with different content (I carefully modified the VB code to match the current file). When I run the package I am down
to just a couple of errors now under the “progress tab”. I am hoping you can point me in the correct direction to resolve this.

The ProcessInput method on component "Create ED1_2 Feeder File" (1760) failed with error code 0x80131600 while processing input "Input 0" (1762). The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is
specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
Any suggestions? I know the code I copied from the source package works perfectly there, but my copy (and then modified) version of the VB code fails in my new package.

Thank You. While waiting for a response I decided that instead of copying the package and editing according to my new source file, that I should rebuild it from scratch
manually instead (while using the original as a model). Well... it worked!
(probably could have repaired the other too with your help and with additional effort, etc.). You were right to suspect the variables as I found properties didn't match there as far as scope. In fact that was the last thing I was working
on when it finally worked. So, as the late Gilda Radner used to say..."never mind". Thanks again.
