I was using bootcamp assistant to install windows 7 via flash drive, i followed the steps, the Windows installation image was installed successfully and the boot camp partition was made andy mac restarted then i got this message "no bootable device insert
"..no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key", i restarted my mac and held options and managed to log in to my OS x again but my windows wasn't installed and when i held options while my mac was starting the usb flash drive wasn't there, what should i do? Also can i restore my usb flash drive to use it as a regular flash drive again?

Yep, I did get this running. Not in a normal way (meaning the easy way). What I did, is that I just created the BOOTCAMP partition in OS X. Just let it format and create the partition where you would install BOOTCAMP.
After that I discovered that via a ISO program (WinClone) you can directly restore a previously created OS X boot image to your current computer. So, I installed a blank Windows 7 to my macbook pro, didint install any drivers and just let it work up then. Then I went back to os X (in macbook pro) and made a bootimage for the BOOTCAMP partition. After that I saved it to my external harddrive and wired it to my iMac. In iMac I just downloaded the same boot-image program and restored the bootimage that I made in Macbook Pro to iMac. After that I made an restart and the bootcamp section with windows worked well with my iMac. Install the bootcamp soft and you can do everything and everything works. FYI, you get the windows working via those steps, BUT if you either delete or do anything to make your bootcamp partition unworkable then you will have to repeat those steps again. But it´s fast non-the-less, so it shouldn´t be a problem for you.

I went into set up utility(F2) and the boot order I tried setting it to default which is:
1. HDD(S1)
2. FDD
3. CD/DVD
4. LAN
5. USB Memory

I am having the same problem with my daughter's laptop. It is a satellite C655D-S5518. Serial #2C231282Q and part # PSC0YU-032029.
I have tried all suggested options above but still no luck. When I hold the zero key and turn on the computer it just beeps and won't go into the recovery screen. My 9 year old daughter saved up to buy this with her own money in May 2012 and when I called the tech support I was told to have my credit card ready to pay for phone support.
I shouldn't have to pay for support two months after purchase...

How to increase Boot Camp partition without harming both Mac and Windows partition
Hello Apple Support Communities.
I have made a Boot Camp partition with my Mac partition, but the problem is that I am running out of space on my Windows partition. (Darn you, Steam Summer Sale! )
Anyways, is there any way to increase the space on my Windows partition without harming both Mac and Windows partitions. I would prefer if I didn't need to delete the Windows Partition and do everything all over again, as I need to download and set up everything all over again. I also know that changing the Windows partition is a tricky and hard thing, and one step can harm my whole computer, but I think that it is worth the risk.
I really don't care how to do it, anything, from a bootable program, to anything. I just want to know how to do it.
So is there any way that I can increase the Windows partition of my Mac without harming both Mac and Windows partitions? Thanks.This cannot be done using Boot Camp Assistant. But, you can try using Paragon Camptune X for Mac® – How it works.

Can anybody help?Several causes for this problem have been reported. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when it's resolved.
Step 1
Back up all data.
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
Step 2
Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.
Step 3
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Problems with Windows install and erasing Boot camp partition.
I recently decided I'd try running a copy of XP on my Macbook, the only reason being that the software for my OU work is only available on Windows. I used Boot camp assistant to partition my hard drive which went smoothly. When I tried to install Windows, I get to the Windows install screen, and it says "Press enter to begin installation". Unfortunately, my keyboard doesn't seem to work, so obviously I can't begin the installation. I've tried using my old Apple USD keyboard, but it didn't make any difference. I thought I'd try the whole process from scratch, but found I can't erase the original partition. I've read that you should use Boot camp assistant again, but when I press the continue key, I get the message:
"The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
Does anybody know a way of sorting either of these problems out? Much appreciated.I've been doing a bit more reading into the problem. I think the keyboard problem's because I'm not using the SP2 version on XP. So hopefully once I get a copy, I should be able to sort it. But I still can't seem to use BCA to erase the partition.

Try the following Steps:
open activity monitor and close all Adobe related applications
navigate to: /Library/Application support/Adobe
In that directory you will see a folder named OOBE - Rename that folder to OOBEold
Navigate to: MAC HD /Application/Utilities directory
In there you will see a folder called "Adobe Application Manager" - delete it

Boot Camp partition not listed in Windows Setup
I am trying to install Windows 7 with DVD and I used the Boot Camp assistant 5 run in OS X Mavericks (10.9.1). Everything was copied with latest drivers, created Boot Camp partition. After that Mac restarted and booted into the windows installation. I run install process and it says something like: "Any media were not found." No drive found here. So in this stage my install journey ends. If I going back to OS X and check Disk Utility, the Boot Camp partition is there. So I don't understand why the installation can't find any partitions even drives.
any solution for case this ?you need to install windows support software on a usb 2 flashdrive. more simply, start over in bootcamp, insert your usb drive as well as the dvd, check all 3 options. bootcamp will do the rest.
or it could be a problem with the install disc, why not download win 7 iso from here;

I am trying to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp but after setting up Bootcamp and restarting the computer I get the error message "No bootable device --- insert boot disk and press any key".
I use an iMac with a DIY Fusion Drive consisting of a 120 GB SSD and a 1 TB HDD.
Since Bootcamp can only be installed on the HDD I believe disk1 is the interesting one. Here is the output of sudo gpt -r -vv show disk1:

I have gdisk installed and am ready to mess around. Any help would be greatly appreciated!So, when I started my iMac yesterday morning it couldn't boot into OS X anymore either. Several hours of restoring later I am back to square one. I tried installing Windows 7 via Bootcamp again but got the same error message. This time I noticed though that Bootcamp asked me to remove the bootable option from the USB drive with the support drivers in order to install from DVD. Does that ring any bells? I am building another USB drive right now, hoping it would ask me again but this I will decline and try to boot from it.
When you restored, was a Time Machine restore used? TM does not backup Bootcamp and does an erase of the partition. It may also erase the entire disk (including the Fusion drive) if the specific backup of the volume layout of the disks indicates a pre-Bootcamp layout.
My MacBook Pro is a 2009 model and also once had a built-in optical drive. I have no idea why it would work on there but not on the iMac.

In the MBP case, did you have two drives installed in the MBP, a Fusion configuration, and then were able to successfully install Bootcamp?
For example on a Mac mini I have a DIY Fusion drive, but the sequence was done differently. Bootcamp was installed using a USB stick+Windows 7 ISO.
1. The two disks are not in a CoreStorage set up initially.
2. The second disk is partitioned (64Gb) and a Bootcamp W7 install completed via USB (this is different HW as compared to IMac, because it has no Optical drive).
3. After the HDD is partitioned, the first partition and the SSD are then used to create a CoreStorage volume.
4. Here is the working version and disk layout. (I plan to erase both disks, put W7 on a partition on the SSD, and make the non-Bootcamp+entire HDD in a CoreStorage volume).

Last month I just got a HP netbook (HP Mini 110-3100) and when I got it from the box, the error message; "No bootable device -- insert a boot disk and press any key" appeared. But then I managed to boot up the netbook normally. After that, I can use the netbook normally but the error message keeps appeared and becomes more frequent and now I even cannot turn on the netbook.
Is it a hard disk failure?
p/s: yesterday accidentally I can turn on the netbook without any problems. Did a lot of Hard Disk Maintenance by some softwares downloaded from the internet. But now already cannot turn on.
p/s/s: i have no cd/dvd drive, and also no 8GB usb drive.
p/s/s/s: what should i bring if i want to send the netbook to the HP centre? just bring the netbook?I would suggest try and reseat the hard drive and check...If you still have the issue, than take it to the service center...And you will need to take only netbook to Service center...

However, we just tried to load the Windows partition and it came up with the error message: "No Bootable Device -- Insert Boot Disk and Press Any Key". Does anybody know why this is happening as it is the first time this message has come up in a few months, and my dad is seriously ****** off right now because he has work to do on the Windows area. :/
Also, someone told me that I had to install Windows again. If this is the case, will all of the files on it be safe? If not, that's not an option.

Hello everybody, I bought a windows 7 to install with bootcamp in my MBP retina, it came buy post, a windows 7 ultimate, OEM, and for my surprise it came with a DELL computer reinstallation CD, well, I search the Internet and some guys were receiving the same CD, and the web sites were saying that it works perfectly. So, I started to install it with boot camp.
I format my USB 16 gig from scandisk for (DOS FAT) in utility's on my mac, and I went to BOOT CAMP to install the windows. As I have a superdrive and the CD from win 7, I didnt select the option of creating a image of windows 7 (the first option) and I just select the other two. So the bootcamp asked me to connect my USB stick for downloading the windows drivers, and after downloading he opened the partition screen, I choose 30 gig for my windows partition and pressed continue, after that the boot camp asked me if I have a windows installing cd, and I clicked yes, Next window, " If you have an installation CD the boot camp will delete the boot from your USB stick, press continue, and I did. After that my mac reboot, and now I have the message " No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key"
It doesnt boot with the USB stick.

ALT CMD doesnt work.
