Need help creating a mail rule please - re: spam

Hello all,
Lately I've been getting a particular piece of spam. As I look at it in my Inbox under the FROM column it reads "VIAGRA ® Official Site". In the message pane, next to From: it reads "VIAGRA ® Official Site<my address@my isp.com> That is to say that it appears that I sent this to myself. I have for a long time had a filter for the term VIAGRA in my rules, and for this recent unpleasantness I even added a rule to filter out mail sent from me to me (which is inconvenient, because sometimes I will email from my laptop to my desktop machine.) But neither of the filters seem to be working.
So, a couple of questions:
When I set up a rule in Mail to filter a message based on the sender (i.e. From) is it filtering the proper email address (the part with the @ in it) or the name attached to the email address?
Is there a way to filter based on the name attached to the email address?
Why won't mail filter messages that have been sent (bogusly) from my own email address?

I quit using rules for anything other than routing emails into the proper mailbox like "Family" or "Known Sender".
Just use the Junk button for these junk types of messages. I say types because most of these messages have subtle clues in the way they are constructed, addressed, or whatever, and your Junk filter will take care of almost all of them without you having to deal with hundreds of blocked words or spellings.
I get about 300 messages a day. I have a "Known Senders" folder that automatically gets messages from people who are in my Addressbook. Those messages from people I know are moved into that folder. The spam messages are moved into the Junk folder. The 3 or 4 messages left are usually alway spam and get tagged with the Junk button.
It takes a few days to see the difference, but it works well for me and much better than relying on my ISP (CenturyTel) to configure their worthless blocker.
There will always be a few unwanted messages in my Inbox that are spam because spammers make their living getting around your filters.

The easiest way, however, is to use Mail Exporter Pro https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mail-exporter-pro/id675131616?mt=12 which will convert the email for you from one format to the other, and comes with an excellent manual.
A third possibility is to connect Apple Mail to an email account via IMAP (this doesn’t have to be your usual account, you can just create a Gmail account for the purpose) . Copy all the messages into it and they will be uploaded. Then connect Outlook 2011 to the same account, via IMAP again, and let the messages download, then copy them to wherever you want to keep them and disconnect from that account. This is slow but preserves the attributes of your email (e.g. read/unead) better than any other method.

Uber Noob Needs Help Creating website!

I need help creating my webpage: It has a textbox on it were

I assume the application is connecting to Oracle using an application ID/password. If so, check to see if that user has a private synonyn to the table. If so drop it since you have a public synonym.
Verify that the public synonym is in fact correct. Drop and recreate the public synonym if you cannot select against the synonym name using an ID that can perform select * from inhouse.icltm where rownum = 1. That is if this other user cannot issue select * from icltm where rownum = 1 without an error.
Check that the application ID has the necessary object privileges on the table.
Queries you need

You may find both public and private synonms. Either fix or delete. (Some may reference someelses.icltm table if one exists)

Note - it is possible to create mixed case or lower case object names in Oracle by using double quotes around the name. Do not do this, but do look to see that this was not done.

Check out the JavaMail API. It is part of the Enterprise Edition, but I believe you can also download it seperately.

Need help with threads?.. please check my approach!!

I am trying to write a program.. who monitors my external tool.. please check my way of doing it.. as whenever i write programs having thread.. i end up goosy.. :(
first let me tell.. what I want from program.. I have to start an external tool.. on separate thread.. (as it takes some time).. then it takes some arguments(3 arguments).. from file.. so i read the file.. and have to run tool.. continously.. until there are arguments left.. in file.. or.. user has stopped it by pressing STOP button..
I have to put a marker in file too.. so that.. if program started again.. file is read from marker postion.. !!
Hope I make clear.. what am trying to do!!
My approach is like..
1. Have two buttons.. START and STOP on Frame..
START--> pressed
2. check marker("$" sign.. placed in beginning of file during start).. on file..
     read File from marker.. got 3 arg.. pass it to tool.. and run it.. (on separate thread).. put marker.. (for next reading)
     Step 2.. continously..
3. STOP--> pressed
     until last thread.. stops.. keep running the tool.. and when last thread stops.. stop reading any more arguments..
Question is:
1. Should i read file again and again.. ?.. or read it once after "$" sign.. store data in array.. and once stopped pressed.. read file again.. and put marker ("$" sign) at last read line..
2. how should i know when my thread has stopped.. so I start tool again??.. am totally confused.. !!
please modify my approach.. if u find anything odd..

This master.java program will run continuously for days or weeks, each time through the loop starting another slave process which runs for five minutes to up to an hour, which means there may be ten to twenty of these slave processes running simultaneously.
I believe threads is the best way to do this, but I don't know where to locate these slave programs: either inside the master.java program or separate slave.java files? I will need help with either method.

Need Help Migrating Tiger Mail to Leopard

Hi,
I just did a clean install of Leopard on my Powerbook and it's running fine. I made a copy of my library/mail and the com.apple.mail.plist file from my Tiger Mail and burnt it to a DVD.
Once i installed leopard I tried to import and it said it could find any mailboxes even when i pointed it in the right direction. Does anyone know how to do this properly? I need to get my mail app looking like it was on TIger pretty soon for work etc.

Okay
This is what I ended up doing in the end. My mail is a Yahoo Small Business POP account. So...after many different failing methods...
I added the account in Preferences, it then imported all 2000+ mail messages back from the server once this was done, I Imported the SENT mailbox from my clone of Tiger, the program then creates the following mailbox: On My Mac>IMPORT>Sent Messages, i dragged all the messages from this into my SENT box at the top of the list and deleted the IMPORT one.
I then had to re-create all my smart mailboxes from scratch. So, this is not really a proper full-on solution but it's the only way for me to get my SENT messages back which is the most important I guess when using a POP account from your desktop.

Create Incoming Mail Rule Based on Embedded HTML in Emails in Mac Mail?

I want to filter a selection of incoming emails in MAC MAIL that have an image embedded into the email. The image is the only thing that will distinguish the emails apart and so I'm wondering if it is possible to filter based on embedded html in an email? If so how? Thanks!

There are no embedded images in HTML mail; it's an attachment. If you want to filter out messages with attachments of one or more types, you need to create a Rule that looks for that criteria and then transfers those messages to your desired location.
For example, if you wanted to filter out messages that contained .gif images, you'd setup a Rule where "Any Attachment Name" "Ends with" ".gif" and then choose what you want to happen to those messages.
And the program is Mail; not MAC MAIL.

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears (about 15-20 seconds).
If this does not work, plug the device into a wall outlet for atleast 20 minutes and then try a reset.

Need help with writing a rule

Need help with some rules. I want to book a number to a specific Entity at a Specific Custom 4 only. I don't want this formula to work at all C4 levels. How can this be done?
for example if Entity is "XBM1123" and we use C4 for tracking and the tracking level I want to book it to is IMPORT, how can this be done for a specific account 4400221

or replace IMPORT with with Top_C4 or what ever member you need to copy to C4#IMPORT.
Rule of thumb, to be on the safe side and for most simple calcs, is if you mention a dimension on the left side, you need to define it on the right side as well.

Need help creating landscape in AE

Hi, I need to create an animation of a train moving through different landscape scenes. I want the hills to be an actual 3D rendering with the train moving through them but I am unsure how to do this. I am familiar with 3D and can create the hills in my 3D application but how do I get my 3D hill into AE so the train, camera and lights etc. can interact with the hill?
1. How do i get my 3D hill into AE?
2. How do I add the train so it goes around the hills?
3. How do I get the camera and lights etc. to reflect on my 3D hill?

First of all, it would be very helpful to post an example of the kind of look you're going for or a similar shot you're trying to recreate. In animation there are limitless ways of making things so it really helps to be very specific. For now I can advise this much...
1. Render your hills out of your 3D application as an image sequence that supports transperancy if you want to layer them or you want the sky to show up behind them.
2. If you want the train to go around the hills, it really depends on how you make the train. Are you also rendering that in a 3D app?
3. I don't know what you mean by getting the camera to reflect, but when you make a layer 3D, After Effects shows the Material Options settings that allow you to control how your layers react to different lighting setups.

Aperture Workflow - need help creating workflow for photo management

I currently shoot with a Canon SD890 (point & shoot) and a Nikon D300 (SLR). My photography is either personal photography or street photography. I may use some of my photography for a web project but that should not be considered right now. I shoot jpegs with the SD890 and RAW with the D300. I need to create a workflow that will allow me to manage all of my photos as well as the RAW vs JPEG aspect. Here are a few initial questions:
1) Should I separate the RAW and JPEGs in Aperture (two libraries)? One library for finished photos and one for negatives?
2) What folder structure should I use? Since I am not a professional photographer, I won't be shooting projects. I think something date or event driven would be best (preferably both).
I am interested to hear how others do this...especially if you use both point & shoot and SLR cameras.

No, use a single Library. Aperture will have no problems with the various formats or with various different cameras.

Actually those date or event driven batches of images are very logically "Projects" in Aperture. Simply name each group of images as you import into AP as a new Project.
IMO it is not good to import camera-to-Aperture (or direct to any app other than the Finder). Best is to use a card reader and use the Finder to copy images from the camera card to a folder on the computer hard drive.
Below is my Referenced-Masters workflow:
• Remove the CF card from the camera and insert it into a CF card reader. Faster readers and cards are preferable.
• Finder-copy images from CF to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive. I label that folder with the Project name suffixed with _masters, that way I can always find the Masters if Aperture forgets where they are.
• Eject CF.
• Burn backup copies of the original images to DVDs or to hard drives (optional backup step).
• Eject backup DVDs/hard drives (optional backup step).
• From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location."
• Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing).
• Reformat CF in camera, and archive DVDs of originals off site.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media.
I strongly recommend that every Aperture user spend $35 and work through the tutorial CD Apple Pro Training Series: Aperture 2 (Apple Pro Training Series) by Ben Long, Richard Harrington, and Orlando Luna (Paperback - May 8, 2008), Amazon.com. Note that the value is in working the tutorial, not in using the book as a manual.
