NEED HELP!! ICHAT & SKYPE video screwed. QTPRO&ImovieHD video fine!

Unable to get help from apple support. Can't figure out how to fix video problem with isight, ichat & skype. the image is broken up into vertical lines like looking through glass. This is a recent problem. However, ichat and skype work fine with a camcorder. How can this be?
Image is perfect on qtpro & Imovie HD as well as Quicktime Broadcaster.
Support wanted me to reinstall 10.3.5 over 10.3.9 and to preserve settings. Recently installed isight update 1.0.3 and a few programs on apple website.

Whenever a user is having as much difficulty as you are, I suggest you keep your important files backed up regularly. If you have not backed up recently, now would be a good time. Then, on to your issue.

The fact that your iSight "image is broken up into vertical lines like looking through glass" while "ichat and skype work fine with a camcorder" coupled with your assertion that "Image is perfect on qtpro & Imovie HD as well as Quicktime Broadcaster" leads me to think (as apparently do "apple support") that you have a software problem.
If you do not want to try the suggestion offered by "apple support", consider
applying the Mac OS X Combined Update 10.3.9. Repair permissions immediately before and after updating.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
Although you report that "Image is perfect on qtpro ...", the fact that you are post this problem

about using QT Pro, have added "a few programs on apple website," and list several accessory devices in your system information leads me to wonder if you might have a Possible hardware or software conflict. Unplug, uninstall, and disconnect everything possible while you check for potential conflicts.
I see from another of your posts that you were using FileVault. FileVault Can Affect Performance on any application that writes to disk. Turn off FileVault, at least while you are troubleshooting and until you get things working properly. I only turn FileVault on while my laptop Mac is in transit or not in my possession. I turn FileVault back off while I use it. This takes some time, but saves a lot of trouble.
Seemingly unrelated problems in multiple applications or operations can sometimes be a symptom of a startup disk that needs more free space or some other Mac OS X Maintenance. Perform maintenance now unless you know your maintenance is up to date.
Finally, try any relevant suggestions you have not already tried from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight kbase article. Sometimes strange problems occur in only one user account. Test to see whether the problem is resolved if you start a new user account.
If you still have the problem, unless you get better suggestions here, I think you should contact your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for professional service.

  • I need help changing the sequence settings to my video

    I shot on a JVC Everio in 720x480 29.97fps. I normally shoot in 1080x420 so I know the picture quality isn't going to be AS good. Normally, when I drag my clips into the timeline Premiere changes the sequence settings for me and everything looks fine. However when I drag  this footage (the 720p) in, it becomes elongated and fuzzy.
    I've messed around with the sequence settings by using DV-NTSC widescreen 48kHz and DVCPRO50 480i NTCS widescreen. When I drag my clips in they're cropped really close and they still look a bit off when I change the image to fit the screen (DVCPRO 50 looks a little bit better).
    When I shot the video it looked crisp and clear on the monitor. I'm wondering if it looks strange because of the sequence settings and if so, what would be the best settings for this video.
    The final video is going on youtube and I would like to make it look as good as possible!
    Please let me know if you can help me out!

    What 720p? You gave us two frame sizes. Neither of them are 720p.
    1080X420 is a very strange frame size. And you say it is normal? A 720p video is 1280X720 non-interlaced.
    Chances are very good that it is 480i video you shot with a frame size of 720X480 and it is interlaced.
    That video should be interpreted with a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 0.9091 (rectangular pixels that are taller than they are wide) - and what that means is that it isn't 16:9 it is 4:3 and should be edited in a 4:3 sequence. If, however, Premiere Pro is seeing the footage as having a PAR of 1.0 (square pixels) then you may have to right click on the clip in the Project Panel and select Modify|Interpret Footage and set it to D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)

  • Need help ...new to this DSLR video HD editing.

    Hello everyone,
    I wanted to ask and see if i could get some help here. I previously did all my filming on my Canon Xl2 and mini DV tapes and would edit with Final Cut Studios 2. Aside from usual learning curve I was able to pick it up pretty well and get what i needed done.
    I recently started filming on a Canon T2i. I am having an issue of the clip showing up larger in my canvas and being outside the title safe lines. So basically I am worried once I export, peoples heads are going to be cut off and sides as well. Now the option selected is "fit to window". I know this is probably a newb question, but I never previously had to ever mess with this option when i was working with my mini dv and xl2. So how do i ensure nothing will be cropped out once exported?
    I am not sure what settings i need, but when i pull the clip onto my timeline, i get the error "attention- This clip does not match this sequences settings or any of your sequence presets. For best performance your sequence and external video should be set to the format of the clips you are editing."
    At this point i just click yes to change sequence to match clip settings, and this is when its get really large in the canvas. I usually never mess with my presets and settings so i am not sure what they should be at either.
    Just to give a bit of background on the actual clip, it was recorded on 1920 x 1080 at 24p on the T2i. I then put the clip through "streamclip". I transcoded to apple ProRes 422 (HQ). Hopefully I have given enough information to help you guys answer my questions thanks.

    Hi Erick. First of all, you're wasting disk space transcoding to ProRes(HQ). That's overkill for your footage. ProResLT will serve you fine. You did the right thing in changing your Sequence Settings to match your footage. Yes the footage is large - it's HD. All footage is going to have areas that fall outside of title/action safe. You frame your shots with this in mind when you shoot. Nothing will be cropped as you say. Just export as a Quicktime Movie with current settings.
    Later you'll need to consider the delivery format. If you're going to the web, you don't have to worry about title safe. If you're delivering to standard DVD, the footage will be reduced to SD resolution and letterboxed. Just make sure any titles you create in FCP fall within the title safe area.

    I purchased the Skype for business for an entire year. Now, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to log in. Do I have to link it to original skype? I am new to this and have no knowledge of the formats of Skype or it for business.

    A few questions for you to clarify the Skype product you are working with, so we can send you in the right direction in an effort to resolve the problem:
    Are you referring to either Skype Manager, or Skype Connect?  Do you recall what "business" product you have? 
    Or, what are you trying to sign in to?  A Skype account via the Skype website, or the software itself?

  • Need help for skype to go.....

    I'm relatively new to using Skype on my Android.  I've used it several times, calling international numbers from my home state, using my Skype number.  I am not tekkie at all, so please be gentle  =)  My question is this:  my husband will be travelling to Norway soon, and I just saw that Norway is not included on the list of countries.  Is there any way we can set him up with anything that Skype offers so he can use his Android to call his customers while there, and also call me on my Android here in the states?  Thanks for any info....

  • Need help with optimizing text appearance when exporting video

    Here's what I'm trying to do:
    1. Convert a Powerpoint presentation to an MP4 (AVC) file, frame rate 30 (actually defaults to 29.97) and video bit rate of 1200kbps,using Wondershare PPT2VideoPro.  (There are no actual video clips contained in the original PPT file).
    2. Import the newly created MP4 video into a new project in Premeire Elements.
    3. Add audio files (WAV) created by Audacity.
    4. Export the final product as a video.
    Here's the problem:
    The text quality in the final exported film is very poor, and the screen occasionally seems to sublty flicker once and a while.  I've tried multiple different settings, but all with the same result.
    Can anyone offer suggestions on optimal settings for exporting the final product such that the text is as clear as possible?  (The text in the MP4 file created by Wondershare looks great.)

    One option would be to create the Text Images in Photoshop, and Save_As a PSD.
    For large sets of Titles, I do the text portion in Word/WordPerfect, so I can use Spell-Check. Then in PS, I just Copy/Paste the text into an Image, where I apply all of the PS Styles that I need. Because I use PrPro for most of my NLE work, I will often do the Titles with Layered Text, and Import those as a Sequence, so that the Layers are not Flattened. This allows me to independently animate each Layer, as I need. Unfortunately, PrE does not allow one to Import the Layered PSD's, Unflattened, as it does not have Sequences.
    Also note that PrE's Titler's Styles are just a starting point. Once applied, one can alter most aspects, and when they are satisfied with the changes, they can then Save the new Style and re-use it over and over. Do not forget the ability to modify those Styles.
    From PowerPoint, and this depends on the version, the best that one can usually do is to Export each "slide" as a TIFF, and Import those into the NLE program.

    Yes, your one Skype Number travels with your account regardless of wherever you are.  Such is the beauty of a Skype Number: people can call you on the number you set up, which in theory would be a local call to them depending upon the availability of numbers from which you can choose (my Skype Number exchange is a few townships away, but still a local call), and reach you on Skype.
    So, no need to change a Skype Number.

  • Need help getting Skype set up.

    Can someone please from Skype - contact me,   I am having the worst experience with setting this up .   I am working from home and need to be able to make calls all over the country and will need several phone numbers.  Customer service is non existant and the support on this site is horredous. 
    Nothing is working - voice mail is set up but when I call from different #'s skype hangs up the call.  No where is their support or a toll free # to sw a live person.  Emails back do not address any issues.
    Is anyone having issues with this site?
    Is their a live person that represents Skype or is all computers?

  • I need help with multiple text masks on one video.

    Hi,
    I am trying to get three different text masks to appear at different times on the same video. I seem to only be able to have one of the three words applied to the video at a time. For example when I copy paste another set of masks onto the video it deletes the last ones. What am I doing wrong? How can I make this work?

    It's pretty confusing, rto say the least. Masks would only be replaced, if the current masks are selected, which is totally intentional behavior. that aside, you workflow is clunky, to say the least. Simply duplicate the layer, trim the results as needed, apply the masks and animate the layer's opacity. Takes half the time than fiddling with animating mask opacity or otehr such things.

  • I need help with Final Cup Pro X...Video clip Black Screen

    Hi,
    While I was editing some video clips for a movie i am making (the files im using are .mov), everything was going fine then i made one mistake on one video then every video went black. There is no audio to the video clips. the begining part of the video played fine but the last clip is black.
    the last clip playback is black.
    my other clips that are not on the time line playback is black too.
    then when i switched the media to show proxy, i got this....
    but the beginning of the clips on the timeline
    everything was working just fine till i made that one mistake on that one clip.
    my mistake was slowing down the clip with with transition. Then **** happened.
    Please help.

  • I need help. Skype keeps crashing version: 7.1.0.1...

    Nothing is wrong with my account but I cant open skype. This is what it says.
    The instruction at 0x000000007079AC94 refrenced memory at 0x000000007079AC94. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185. Click OK to terminate the program. I click OK and it all goes away.

    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (do not press the Run 64-bit DxDiag button).
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
    Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.
