Need help my contact are merging together if they have the same name

If I enter in a new contact with the same first name my phone automatically links to another person with the same name in my contact. This happens even if I put a different company name so I know the difference between Jeff at car dealer and Jeff landscaper. Can anyone guide me how to fix this please.

1. Objects don't have names. The only name a <tt>JButton</tt> might have is the '<tt>name</tt>' property which is set using <tt>setName(...)</tt>
2. Add an anonymous <tt>ActionListener</tt> to the <tt>JButton</tt> in the same method that you create it. In general, and unless hugely justified by the program design, avoid 'switchboard' listeners that require to identify the source of the event.

On the iPhone tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Contacts off then back on then reset the device.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

There is no key because that is an important dialog. Why would you want it to go away?

I have contacted three more people that made the upgrade and they have the same problem. My advise is not to upgrade until Apple solves the serious issue, I would hate to have to re-install Outlook...

I can send e-mails just fine with apple mail on yosemite...
Might not be a generic problem but rather a personal problem..
You should try find a fix rather than waiting on apple.
Hopefully somebody can help you out.

Is it a gmail or icloud email acount? Can be of more help if it is.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Separate Apple ID's will result in separate notes. However when you first start with separate ID's unless one of you erases the notes you have, you will both start off with the same set of notes, but from then onwards each set won't sync with each other.

Looks like you restored your backup file to her phone. If you didn't back up your wife's phone first, then the data is gone, sorry.

I need help obtaining a number from a previous sheet inside the same workbook...

I am basically trying to put together a system for tracking the hours I work as a casual against the hours I get paid for.
I have setup a sheet that allows me to enter in my daily hours for a pay fortnight (plus some other information such as breaks etc.)
I then enter in the hours I was paid from my payslip and I often have a discrepancy which I have titled OUTSTANDING HOURS.
(This discrepancy is caused by my wing of the business running on a Thursday to Wednesday week whilst the pay office runs Sunday to Saturday - this overlap is why I wish to track my hours so carefully)
I have a new sheet for each pay fortnight. Fortnight 1 / Fortnight 2 / Fortnight 3 for example (they are actually titled by the date range of each fortnight)
What I am hoping to be able to do is automatically bring the previous fortnight's OUTSTANDING HOURS cell into a specific cell on the following sheet.
I know how to do this using =PRODUCT('Fortnight 1' :: Master :: E27) - where e27 is the OUTSTANDING HOURS total from the sheet titled Fortnight 1
This however requires the OUTSTANDING HOURS to always come from Fortnight 1.
When I get to Fortnight 3 I would want the OUTSTANDING HOURS to come from Fortnight 2 sheet.
Can this be setup so that it takes the info from the previous sheet in the workbook rather than a specifically titled sheet... Or will I have to change this formula everytime I duplicate my MASTER....

I suggest that you use the INDIRECT(ADDRESS()) form of addressing. The last parameter in the ADDRESS function is the TableName. Use a table cell reference in TableName's position and in that cell, type the table name from which the data is to come. This way all your equations stay the same from Sheet to Sheet, but the name of the previous sheet is entered into a cell as data, self documenting and easy to edit.

I need help with reformatting my mac, but I dont have the installation CD's

So I have an older mac, and I am looking to sell it because I want to upgrade to a pro. I would like to reformat the hard drive so all my accounts/files/programs/settings are removed, but I do not have the installation CD's that came with the computer. Can anyone advise if there is any other way to do this or get around using the CD's?

Hi dpgomes, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Legally you need to include the Install Disc with the Computer if it has that OS Installed.
You could use another Mac with Firewire to Format & Zero the Disk, but who'd buy a Mac with no OS?
You could removes all your settings passwords, & such by doing this...
Make a new Admin User in Accounts, log out of this account, login to the new Admin account and delete the old account, then use Disk Utility to "Erase Free Space" on the Hard Drive.

ICloud is putting my mom's contacts on my phone since we have the same apple id. Should I make a new apple id just for Icloud?

I want to be able to update all my stuff to icloud, but I don't want my mom's stuff constantly syncing with my phone too. If i make a new account, will that change what account i use in itunes and the apple store?? would I be able to have two accounts? or can you have two different users per icloud?
because what are they supposed to do if a family shares an apple id?

We upgraded my Mom's iPhone 3Gs (New Bootroom) to iOS 5 and connected My dad's Apple iD to my Mom's iPhone. My Mom and Dad's contact lists merged. Then today, when my mom was at work. She started deleting my Dad's business contacts from her phone, thinking that it would just be deleted off her phone. But, they were deleted off of my Mom's iPhone 3gs. My dad's iPad 2, iPhone 4, Intel iMac and his Windows Work computer. My dad is very frustrated. I am wondering if there is any way to do the stuff below, Please help we lost 100 contacts that are very important business contacts.

By configuration I mean something where you have saved settings. This includes mail and facetime accounts, iCloud/MobileMe, and other passwords that are in settings or preferences within applications or system services. Beyond these, there are non-configuration passwords, such as when you access a shared computer on the network. In this situation the computer requires authentication information, but it is not saved in a configuration of sorts. Therefore instead of the password being automatically saved, the system provides this as an option to do if you wish.
If you do not want your password saved in the keychain and automatically used, go to the configuration for the desired accounts and delete the password. Doing this will result in a prompt for you to supply the password when the service tries to connect. This prompt will have an option to save the supplied password in the keychain, but it will not be selected by default.

Contacts merged with device that shares the same iTunes account as me

My husband and I share the same itunes account on our phones so whenever he downloads something new it downloads on my phone as well and vice-versa.
Just recently, after iOS 6 update, we noticed that his contacts merged with my iPhone & my contacts have merged with his. Also, he is getting notifications from an app that we share... But the notifications are from MY friends on facebook. The app is called voxer and whenever someone (from my Facebook friends) sign up, my husband gets the notification. Which is really weird because im not even signed on to Facebook on his phone. Somehow my information has merged with his phone and his mine. Why is this? Is there a way I can make things back to normal? Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like you may be syncing your contacts to the same iCloud account on both phones if your contacts are merged. You can share the same iTunes account for purchasing apps and music, but to avoid merging data you sync with iCloud you need to set up separate iCloud accounts on each phone.
To do this, first decide which phone will be changing accounts. On this phone that will be changing, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone. After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The other phone will not be effected by this.) Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account. At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the other person's data from your account (such as deleting your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa). These changes will be reflected on each phone; when you're finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
Don't know anything about your problem with voxer notifications.

Need help moving pictures to a flash drive with the same name....

i can't figure this out. i have several hundred pictures that i want on a flash drive for my digital frame. apparently some of them have the same name assigned from the camera ex: dsc01403, etc. sitting down and re-naming them is not an option for that many. when i used windows and ran into this issue, it would just create a different file name. so for example, i would have dsc01403 and it would create the second one as dsc01403 (2). i can't figure out how to get the mac to do that. the only options i get are "don't replace, stop, replace". i tried the 'don't replace' option thinking that would do it, but it doesn't.
so first: did that make sense?
second: anyone know how to work around this?

You won't be able to move your emails from aol.com to your Flash drive (they are on a website, not your computer) if you are using AOL desktop, you might be able to, but you probably won't be able to open them. Anyway, this is a firefox support site, not aol, I'd suggest contacting them.

Why are my devices finding two networks with the same name in my house?

I have Verizon FIOS (Actiontech router) connected with an ethernet cable to my Airport Express. Everything works beautifully through all three levels of my house...except... there are seemingly two networks in the house...a 192.X network (I think that is the Actiontech router), and a 10.X network (I think that must be the airport express)...
Here is the problem...
My devices (MACS, i-PADS, wireless printers) sometimes connect to the 192.X network (usually on channel 11) and sometimes they connect to the 10.X network (usually on channel 1). If the computers & i-PADS are not on the same network as the printers, then I can't print because the computer can't find the printer.
With the printers, every time the power goes out it's a crapshoot to see which network they reconnect to...and I have not found a way to manually choose a network since both networks have the same name and password (and I think they have to be set up that way in order for the Airport Express to work properly with the Verizon router.
Any help would be much appreciated.

OK, thanks. Did you see the message I posted right after your previous reply? I'm copying it here. Would choosing option two below, "join a wireless network" vs. "create a wireless network" be similar (or the same) as running in bridge mode? Thanks.
Tried a different MAC in my house using Lion instead of Mavericks and was able to open a version of Airport Utility. I couldn't find the tabs as in your picture; however, I did find a box that says, "This airport express is set up to create a wireless network." Three options are then listed as follows:
1- create a wireless network (the one that is checked)
2- join a wireless network
3- disable wireless and connect to a computer or network using Ethernet
If I choose option two above, would that solve the problem?
