Need help on a basic calculator

Hello,
Please help me to make this calculator run. When I run this, it takes up the first and second value. Then it ask for the arithmetic options. But I get no reply. The program displays " Please try again" and then "Result 0". Could you please tell me why is this happening and what i need to know from this.

switch (option){Is there something missing there? Or is the String "choice" to magically become the char "option"?

Need help with a form calculation

I am trying to create a form in Acrobat that will support a calculation of percentages. I have the
following formula:
if (a1.value == "" || a1.value == "" && b1.value == "") {c1=0} else {b1/a1}
The percentage is not calculating and is remaining at 0% when numbers are entered on the form. I am trying to avoid the error messages we receive if we just enter the basic calculation in to the simplified (because some of the cells may have a value of 0).
Can anyone help?

[8i] Need help with some workday calculations

At the beginning of the month, I got help with a workday calculation in: [8i] Help with function with parameters (for workday calculation)
Now, as it turns out, I was able to locate a function in the database that does what I want, however, it is much slower to use the function than to join two copies of the CALN table (Please see referenced thread for details. I can copy them to this thread if necessary.) I need to verify that the pre-existing function has 'DETERMINISTIC' in it, as I would guess that if it doesn't, it would be much slower than it could be.
But now, I've come across a situation where I have to do multiple workday calculations in the same query--enough that I have to join 6 copies of my CALN table. I can't imagine that is at all efficient. I believe it was Frank K. who said (in the original thread) that if the function was slow, I should consider alternatives. Can anyone help me identify some of those alternatives? I'm definitely at that point now. (This query is one I'm using as the base for a report in Oracle BI, and let's just say it doesn't like my query, even though my syntax appears to be correct, and I would guess that joining 6 copies of one table is at least partly to blame for this).
Note: I'm working with Oracle 8i

I need some help by being pointed in the right direction. I have a piece of old lab equipment that I will be connecting to labview. In order to send commands to the hardware, I have to calculate a checksum. The checksum algorythm requires me to take alphanumeric characters, convert them to binary, perform binary addition, perform an Xor, mask certain digits, and convert the resultant binary string back to an ascii character. Does labview have the capabilities to do this on it's own, or should I look at connecting to something like an external dll?
I have Visual Studio 2008 and some previous VB experience, so I think I could write a program that would do the calculation, but don't really know exactly what type of project (dll, etc.) is best. Are there any specific settings for the dll so that labview can use it. I see an example for C++ for Visual Studio 2005, but that is as close as I can get. I only know VB, not C# or C++
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Need help with crazy custom calculations code in Acrobat XI pro

Im trying to calculate some text feilds together and just cant figure it out. I have two text feild boxes that I would input certain numbers to calculate in, Textfeild D5 and D6, once the user supplies the numbers in the D5 and D6 I need a text feild (D9) to calculate and produce a number thats used in another calculation. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Im good at HTML and CSS but only begining with javascript. Im using acrobat XI pro and I put this code in the custom javascript area within the text feld "D9" properties.

I need help on a basic program

Hey people I need bit of help writting a very basic program for a project due on wednesday of this week. I am new at this I wanted to see if I could get some help from you.
I need basically to write a program that when you insert the year of birth it displays the chinease symbol or charater corresponding to the chinease horoscope, for example if I was born in 1982, my ymbol will be the dog... each animal repeats each 12 years, and there are 12 animals,,, some friends told me to do it with a do while, but as I am trying, it does not work that well or I don't do it well, ejejeje

Need help with a basic java thing..

Sorry, just started java a few weeks ago and i'm having trouble figuring out how to do something.
I wanted to know how to make this work. It cant be more than 6 characters in length and of those six characters, the first two have to be letters only, followed by a dash (-) and then three numbers. EG: ab-234 or gf-643...
Im using it as a serial number generator type thing, thats only one part of the entire program, but I cant figure it out.
Just need the most basic way to do that if anyone could help! been looking for hours in a couple java books i have and dont know where to look or what to look for!!

Need help understanding a basic APEX operation

Hi all,
I'm an APEX newb. I've been developing some nice reports. Now I want to create some simple forms. What I'm trying to do is VERY basic.
I have a text box which a user enters text. I want, when they press the submit button to:
A. Call a simple Oracle procedure - i.e. exec insert_text(:P1_EXAMPLE);
B. If successful indicate success, if an error, show an error message
C. If successful, clear the items and let them do the same operation again.
I am already doing validations to check for nulls and other error checking, but after these validations, do I need a Computation a Process or a Branch???

3. I enter the following under Enter PL/SQL Page Process:

Calculate PI using Random Numbers
In geometry the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter is known as �. The value of � can be estimated from an infinite series of the form:
� / 4 = 1 - (1/3) + (1/5) - (1/7) + (1/9) - (1/11) + ...
There is another novel approach to calculate �. Imagine that you have a dart board that is 2 units square. It inscribes a circle of unit radius. The center of the circle coincides with the center of the square. Now imagine that you throw darts at that dart board randomly. Then the ratio of the number of darts that fall within the circle to the total number of darts thrown is the same as the ratio of the area of the circle to the area of the square dart board. The area of a circle with unit radius is just � square unit. The area of the dart board is 4 square units. The ratio of the area of the circle to the area of the square is � / 4.
To simuluate the throwing of darts we will use a random number generator. The Math class has a random() method that can be used. This method returns random numbers between 0.0 (inclusive) to 1.0 (exclusive). There is an even better random number generator that is provided the Random class. We will first create a Random object called randomGen. This random number generator needs a seed to get started. We will read the time from the System clock and use that as our seed.

Imagine that the square dart board has a coordinate system attached to it. The upper right corner has coordinates ( 1.0, 1.0) and the lower left corner has coordinates ( -1.0, -1.0 ). It has sides that are 2 units long and its center (as well as the center of the inscribed circle) is at the origin.
A random point inside the dart board can be specified by its x and y coordinates. These values are generated using the random number generator. There is a method nextDouble() that will return a double between 0.0 (inclusive) and 1.0 (exclusive). But we need random numbers between -1.0 and +1.0. The way we achieve that is:

The class that you will be writing will be called CalculatePI. It will have the following structure:

In the method computePI() you will simulate the throw of a dart by generating random numbers for the x and y coordinates. You will call the method isInside() to determine if the point is inside the circle or not. This you will do as many times as specified by the number of throws. You will keep a count of the number of times a dart landed inside the circle. That figure divided by the total number of throws is the ratio � / 4. The method computePI() will return the computed value of PI.

You've declared a local variable, distance, in the method isInside(). The scope of this variable is limited to the method in which it is declared. There is no declaration for distance in computePI() and that is why the compiler gives you an error.
I won't check your entire program but I did notice that isInside() is declared to be a boolean method but doesn't return anything, let alone a boolean value. In fact, it doesn't even compute a boolean value.

Need help with a basic script to resize image then resize the canvas

I am new to photoshop scripting, and have come across a need to force an image to be 8"x10" at 300dpi (whether it is vertical or horizontal)
I need to maintain the correct orientation in the file, so an Action will not work, I believe I have to implement a script to accomplish this.
I have the below script so far, but I am not certain of how to input the variables / paramters

The fact that its failing on lien 5 lets nme know that I have the "If" portions of my script correct, I just dont know how to accomplish the functions correctly.

I know I'm late here but it seems to me your trying to automate a 8"x10 or 10"x8 300DPI print.
To do that you must first crop your image to a 4:5 aspect ratio to prevent distortion unless your shooting with a 4" by 5" camera. I wrote a Plugin script a couple years ago that could help you do a centered crop. You could do the whole process by recording a simple Photoshop action that uses two Plugin Scripts only four steps would be needed.
Step 1 Menu File>Automate>AspectRatioSelection (My script based of Adobe Fit Image Plugin script) Set 4:5 Aspect ratio, center, Rectangle, Replace, no feather. Llike Fit Image this script woks on both Landscape and Portrait images. The Selection will be correct for the images orientation.
Step 2 Menu Image>Crop
Step 3 Menu File>Automate>Fit Image set 3000 PX height and 3000 PX width the Image will be Resample so its longest side will be 3000 pixels. Adobe Fit Image Plugin Script always uses BICUBIC resampling. I have a modified version of Fit Image that uses Bicubic Sharper whebndownsizing and BicubicSmoother when up sizing.
Step 4 Menu Image>Size un check resample set resolution to 300 DPI.
When you play the actions the Script Dialogs will not be displayed and the setting use when you recorded the action will ne used.

Need Help Choosing A Basic Phone That Does Not Require A Data Plan

Hello, I need to replace my current basic phone and do not qualify for an upgrade yet.
I need to find a new or used phone that does not require data. Can someone please give me some models that will work that are newer?
The VZW prepaid models have to be used 6 months on prepaid before you can use them on a contract and I have a contract.

Usually on eBay, the listing will indicate if it's prepaid.
I agree with Droid Usrr that the Intensity 2 is worth checking into, because it has a great rubberized keyboard and you can get one new for less than $100.
Depending on what you're willing to spend, I also noticed that the Wal-Mart in my area is selling the brand new Intensity III off contract for $175. That way, you'd still have the year warranty on it, and it's a solid phone.
There usually are quite a few inexpensive feature phones on Craigslist, too, if you're not opposed to meeting with strangers. It's best to meet at a Verizon store and activate it before handing over your money.

Need help understanding OID basics regarding portal

Hi I am new to v2 portal and OID and need some help.
Because all portal users are oid users, currently default settings are in place. My issues are follows:-
Q1 Portal user passwords are expiring after a few weeks, how do I reset the expiration time for portal user passwords.
Is using the OID Manager (Java client app) the only way and how do you do it?
Q2. My understanding is that the OID contains all policy details regarding user access.
How does OID map to portal so that portal uses use a particular OID, as portal v2 is install out of the box this is already done for me, an explanation would be very helpful.

Most of those listings are local system sockets, and look fairly normal (with that command, my machine has about the same number of entries). Any given browsing session will open all kinds of temporary connections that eventually time out, and by closing Safari most of them should eventually close.
Netstat will show a bunch of stuff, not necessarily limited to the internet. You can also use the *Activity Monitor* application, and another useful tool is MenuMeters - I still use it to keep track of network and disk activity. Are there other machines on your network (or cable node)? With a 25mbit connection, you would need to be running a lot of stuff to slow it down.

Need help with rman basics

Hi,
I would like to take hot backup of our database with no catalog. I created two folders in the local disk Backup and archives. The rman backups are stored in this folder and archive are stored in archive folder.
Suppose server A has all the RMAN copies (backup available on other machine) and it got corrupted. I want to restore it on other machine.
I have few doubts:
1) Do i need to create same structure for all the database files in other server like the folders Backup,Archives and oracle home.
2) Do i have to copy all the files in Backup,Archives folders to their corresponding folders in other machine.
Can i restore the full database from here. I tried using similar scenario,but i had missing archives.
3) When the database is in archivelog mode and the online backup is being taken, the modifications done to the database are stored in online archive files. My question is suppose i switch the database in noarchivelog mode and start the database, do i still need recovery?

3. If a media failure occurs while the database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode, you can only restore the database to the point of the most recent full database backup. You cannot recover transactions subsequent to that backup. To restore a database operating in NOARCHIVELOG mode, you can use only whole database backups taken while the database is closed. Therefore, if you decide to operate a database in NOARCHIVELOG mode, take whole database backups at regular, frequent intervals.
