I recently purchased a MSI GTX 680 Lightning card, but the cd that came along was faulty, I cant open the pdf manual. I have contacted the shop I purchased the card from but they cannot get another cd for me. From where can I download the manual?
Great card btw, I just want to read more about the card details.

  • MSI GTX 680 Lightning - No Signal/100% Fans

Hi, I recently built a computer, which contains an MSI GTX 680 Lightning. This is the first time I've built a computer so don't kill me if this has a simple solution.
The computer ran fine for a few months, then all the sudden I started getting a recurring issue where both my moniters show "No signal" and the 680's fans turn up to 100%, it stays like that and I have to reset the computer, after which it seems to run fine for a while and then it happens again unexpectedly.
The issue seems to happen more frequently when I'm playing games, but it also happens when I'm not even at the computer. Also, I haven't updated any drivers or anything recently so I don't think it would be that. This is pretty annoying, so any help would be appreciated.
    ~Thanks.

  • MSI GTX 680 Lightning compatibility with Windows 64/ Asus P6T Deluxe MB

I purchased a GTX 680 Lightning on Dec. 16.  I've been having random PC lockups and Driver hangs/restarts. Here's what I have done so far to try and remedy the problem:
-started with MSI Afterburner version 2.2.5 BETA and Nvidia ( MSI provided ) drivers 301.42, and standard bios .
-upgraded to various newer versions of NVidia drivers, BETA and WHQL. Usually the newer drivers become even more unstable.
    -Upgraded to Afterburner 2.3
-I had the original bios versions first shipped with the card, I have since updated the BIOS:
            from 80.04.09.00.F7  --> 80.04.28.00.39
            from 80.04.09.00.F8  --> 80.04.28.00.3A  ( LN2 )
-NVidia control panel settings left at default, with Global/all profiles set to "prefer maximum performance".
-I originally had a GTX295 installed, so all drivers etc. were fully removed, followed by clean install of 301.40
-Afterburner 2.3.0 is installed, Core voltage is set to +12mv, and the power limit is set to 178%
-memtest run for hours on my memory, zero faults.
-furmark run for hours, no crashes
-3dmark run repeatedly with varying overclock settings in Afterburner, no crashes
The updated LN2 BIOS seems to be sllightly more stable, but I still see random crashes when running Windows media player, VLC Player, Internet Explorer. Its definately a problem between windows multimedia and the Nvidia drivers.  I can play Skyrim maxxed out, for hours, yet when I first login to the computer and run IE, it sometimes locks up.
I've had the driver stop and recover while Afterburner is monitoring on-screen, and sometimes the CPU load will spike to 100% at the crash, yet sometimes it does not. GPU power voltage always sits at 0.987 or 1.212V. matching the power spec expected for the LN2 BIOS.
I've had GPU-Z cause at least 1 lockup, with the screen blanking red. Only 1.
My next step will be to try updated drivers again, now that the bios has been updated. I may also downgrade Afterburner to 2.2.5 BETA.
Does anyone have any other recommendations I can try?  Can someone point me to the latest BIOS version for the card ( or can i try that hybrid BIOS now available? )
At what point do I give up and RMA the card?
    Card S/N is 602-V283-02SB1206030939
    Windows 7 Professional 64
    Corsair 12GB mem, matched sticks
69 GB SSD for the OS, a Raptor 320GB disk for the rest
Antec True Power Quattro 1000W power supply
    Asus P6T Deluxe MB   ( not v2 )
    Intel I7 cpu 2.93 Ghz

I'm going on 3 days of stable performance. I made 2 changes:
    1) core voltage in MSI afterburner upped to +87mV, power limit at 150%.
    2) I have an ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard, and am running the UPU-6 engine. This utility is designed to let the motherboard auto-switch from max power savings -> medium power savings -> max performance ( 100% CPU ) -> turbo mode (O/C CPU ).   I had this set on Auto, and I have re-set it manually to max-performance.
I think the EPU-6 engine was the problem, I am waiting for a few more days stability to prove the theory.
EUP-6 will lower your clock speed when idling, and then bump up your performance when you start doing things.  In my case I would go from playing a game ( Skyrim) to running IE, and EPU-6 would change modes DOWN.  In reverse, I would be doing nothing. then run IE or media player, and EPU-6 would change modes UP. Those state changes are where I think I was getting blackscreens and lockups.
I still don't understand it exactly, I think the combination of my MB changing power/performance AND the GTX680 also changing performce creates some kind of conflict.  I have had the Afterburner graph going when the driver crashed, and it shows the GPU power maxing out when the driver crashed. All other graphs bottom out ie. the whole card "hiccups".
So I will put the core voltage back to defaults, and also set the Nvidia display/performance options all back to defaults, and keep the EPUJ-6 engine stuck on max-performance, which is basically leaving the MB running at 100% stock CPU and power.  I expect that will prove stable and resolve the problem.
    Crossing my fingers.

  • Desperately need help finding MSI GTX 580 lightning.

I ordered components for the new PC I'm building last week, and parts have arrived in the mail periodically. For my graphics cards, I ordered two MSI GTX 580 Lightning (not Xtreme) cards, both from Amazon. I intended to use them in SLI, for gaming as high resolution (please do not tell me they're overkill, I already know they are. I'm a bit tired of people pointing that out). The first one is scheduled to arrive soon, but the second card was cancelled without reason a day after I placed the order. I then tried to order the second card from AVA Direct, but that order was also abruptly cancelled. I've looked on Newegg, Amazon, and a dozen or so other sites, but can't find another available GTX 580 Lightning. I don't know why they're suddenly not available... I would be really, really grateful if anyone would help me find another MSI GTX 580 Lightning card to use in my dream rig. I live in the US. What I'm trying to do here is find someone who knows a site that has an available card that I can complete my build with. So... Help find a graphics card for a devoted enthusiast?

It seems that amazon doesn't have the product anymore after searching for 'gtx 580 lightning' and 'msi gtx 580'. Try creating a support ticket to ask msi if the product is just plain discontinued, as I don't see anyone with it in stock.
And actually, I did manage to find this place: http://www.colamco.com/store/stat/product/1071363.html
But the price for the card there is over $600.

There was a purpose of putting a locked voltage, even now on lightning. I have the old bios on my lightning and works unlocked 300% and voltage too. But you risk a degradation in time if you run the card 24/7 in games with 1.2+ voltage just for some couple mhz more. If you are oc-ing the card just for gaming it's useless, 680 it's powerful by it's nature, and 100-200mhz more in gaming = 0 performance.
And not all lightnings are like "in the msi picture advertising, that you buy a lightning for extreme OC" mine can't pass 1250Mhz on Heaven even on 1.25V on LN2 bios. So lightning in my opinion is still a luck, not a 100% card, chip and pcb that guarantees you a success overclock, compared with another product, or reference card.

  • MSI GTX 680 LIGHTNING having MSAA ANTI ALIASING ISSUE

    Hey guys!
I have a question concerning my GPU. I would like to know if anyone thinks this is a faulty card or is there something I need to do to fix the issue.
MSAA Anti-Aliasing is causing a very weird blood graphic issue... Toggle it off and the blood looks fine, turn it too 2,4 or 8 and the blood is outlines in glowing yellow craziness(see image link below)!
My card is stock and has never been OC. I've re installed the game, done clean installs of GPU drivers but the error still persists(only if MSAA Anti Aliasing is enabled).   Prior to installing new drivers I was getting a OPEN GL error 3 code , the new drivers seem to have fixed that.
This is zoomed in using a camera, it looks the same at all distances. The yellow trace around the blood shines like a light in game. This does not happen randomly, all blood splatter in the grass looks this way when
    MSAA Anti-Aliasing is enabled.
    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks for reading,
    cheers!

Hey thanks for replying! Sorry I will post my system info below.
I just updated my drivers to 313.96 from 310.70. With the 310.70 driver I was experiencing the MSAA issue(above post) but also with the I was getting a full game crash after 20-30 mins of game play. The 313.96 resolved the crash but not the MSAA issue.

  • Msi gtx 680 lightning problems

I started out with a lightning that worked perfectly as advertised.  I unistalled the card to compare it to another. When I reinstalled the card, I could no longer control voltage. It still functioned and clocked perfectly. I contacted msi, they had me flash a new BIOS. When that didn't work they had me rma and sent me a different card.
The new card is worse. Not only does it not allow voltage control in afterburner 2.2.3, but it will also o
Maxes out the power slider at 133% on ln2.
I've sent msi 2 emails regarding my problems with the new card and have not gotten a response.

    2.  Has anyone else been ignored by msi support?

    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164556.0

Hi, i tried too the modded LN2 BIOS and i have experienced very strange behavior:
After flashing the LN2 BIOS with this one (80.04.47.00.42) and rebooting - the PC did not start, there was no signal to the monitor (the two DVI ports were not working), only through the HDMI (connected with a TV) i saw that the motherboard was reporting some kind of an error and was asking to make a choice - F11, F12 ... but whatever i was choosing there was no reaction. The keyboard was operational, it seemed that the motherboard BIOS was freezed. I tried hard restart -> same situation. Then i changed to the default bios (80.04.47.00.18) and the PC booted and seemed to work normal. Ok, i tried once again the modded bios (80.04.47.00.42) -> the same behavior (BIOS crash). Somehow (i do not know exactly how) i succeeded to boot Windows with 80.04.47.00.42 and everything seems fine. But when i play games for a long time (for an hour for example) suddenly the game freezes and the cpu usage raises near 100%, the whole PC hangs and only hard restart fixes the problem. The problem repeats randomly with and without GPU overclock.
    My PC configuration is Biostar TZ77XE4,I7-3770K@[email protected],Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.C,2x8GB DDR3 2133Mhz GEIL EVO LEGGER ,SSD OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SATA3;Seagate 500GB,WD Black 640GB,MSI N680GTX Lightning@1359/7600,Creative 24bit,Cooler Master HAF X,Chieftec CFT-750-14CS, 22' TFT Benq 1920*1080
I think that the problem is between the motherboard BIOS and the GPU BIOS, but i cannot explain it to myself - why? The motherboard bios is the latest stable (Z77CF419.BST). Now i am with the unlocked 80.04.28.00.3A LN2 bios and everything is working fine with and without GPU overclock.
