Need Suggestion (Java/SQL)

I dont know, I'm posting in the correct section or not, If im in wrong section, Please move to the correct one.
Few days ago, There was active thread on creating own DBMS in Java. Its not an easy task so i decided to create Object-Relational Mapping Framework and i have done so.
I have tested all methods and its working perfectly. Now i have decided to make it available for all users.
Before putting it on my website for download. I want to expand it and add more features into it.

I have named it Pikk. Currently it supports :
* Java classes to Database tables mapping.
* Java data types to SQL data types.
* One-2-Many and Many-2-Many relationship between classes.
* saveObject() , saveObjects() and getObjects() for inserting, updating and retrieving data from database.
* sum() , count() , max() methods.
EG :
Person extends DataObject ------------------ + String name; + int age; + String city; mappingObj.addTable(Person.class,"PersonTable"); PikkMapping file will be autogenerated. Table will be created "PersonTable" with attributes id,name,age,city. Person p = new Person(); p.name = "Test"; p.age = "10"; p.city = "MyCity"; connectionObj.saveObject(p); Insert query will be generated.
This is how it works! I tried my best to make it easiest.
Please give me your suggestions and reviews.

1. It isn't generally considered good form to promote products (even free ones) here.
2. There are several open source sites which are specifically suited to promotion but also for colloboration, feedback, etc. Those would probably be better. sourceforge and codeguru are two.

and getting errors. I realize I need the java.sql package. Can anyone help me by pointing out where I can download the package?

The screen in our application polls at a fixed interval, The screen renders properly and the poll too works good. but intermittently we get the error below. and there will be no data in the screen. and if reload the screen it works good.
This doesn't happen in dev and is happening in clustered env only.Please suggest.

Need suggestion for choosing Java development enviroment
Hi Evereyone,
I am new to Java Desktop Application.I need help on choosing proper Java technologies and development tool.
We have an existing CLIENT/SERVER based distributed control system, which was developed in C++(Server side) and VB(Client GUI).Now we are think of migrating the system to Java platform.
Here is the outline:
We want to create web based application that will run on windows and linux (linux on embedded PC).
The application should be able to support 10 � 100 users at once accessing/editing database.
We will also need to create a communication server that will run on web server P.C. that will communicate tcpip to field panels/log to db, as well as allow web screens to send/receive commands with field panels etc.
Could any one give me some suggestion about it?
I am thinking of Using J2SE 5.0, including RMI, JDBC and Swing for GUI. As for field panels, may choose J2ME.

Actually, I don't have the system requirements neither. All I know is the following outline:

It is a interview question, which need me to do research and give some suggestions. What I want to know is to figure out what kind of Java technology is necessary for developing this system because I want to make sure I head to right direction.
I know somehow it is hard to give suggestion based on this limited information.
One more thing I was confusing is the server-side architecture.
I need suggestion about sever side architecture:
a. write a dedicated server-side program, which act
as communication server to monitor and control field
panel, also act as server-side applicaiton by using
RMI to communicate with Client-side communication.
b. choose a general web server architecture. Put
everything in server side in Web Server, for example
Tomcat AS container, implementing the Communication
server as Web Service and the request from
Client-side go to Web Server first, then dispatch to
a proper web service.Why did you not include this information in the original question!
Why don't you just use Tomcat?
For your answer, "Why don't you just use Tomcat?", does it mean Tomcat without Web Service will be enough for this system development? Could you give me some detail about it?

I am interested in knowing details abt how the Interfaces in the java.sql package are implemented. We all work with the database using the interfaces provided ,but how do they work at the backend ? How can a Interface provide details (work ) with out an implementation class.I Is this taken care by the JVM or some of the Call level interfaces? Please do provide details abt this..hi Sheshadri,

Need help with a Java-SQL connection
My classmates and I created a DesktopFrame. Within it are reports that require a connection to an MS Access Database. When a report in an InternalFrame is opened: the SQL command works, there is a connection, and everything goes well on the first run.
However, when another InternalFrame is opened or when the same InternalFrame is opened the 2nd time, an error occurs. It produces a java.sql.SQLException: General Error.
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.Provide more info, maybe even some code segments. (Not all). May be easier to help

I checked the classpath and all and cant figure out the problem.

Needed help regarding converting string to java.sql.Date format
I have a a function which returns a calendar object. The date must be inserted to Oracle DB using java.sql.Date format.
So i have converted the Calendar object to java.sql.Date format using the following code
java.sql.Date publicationDate = new java.sql.Date(book.getPublicationDate().getTime().getTime());But while getting inserted into the DB it was in mm/dd/yyyy format whereas i wanted dd/mm/yyyy format

Actually this relates to the Iexpenese Module. The VO is "oracle.apps.ap.oie.server.TrackExpenseReportsVO"(Seeded)
The user Expense home screen is based on the above VO and this view returning multiple line for the same expense number which should be eliminated.
so for this i need to filter data by adding where clause dynamically on top of the existing where conditions so that i can eliminate the duplicate row.
Please suggest me !! how to move on

I need to convert a String (in the format "yyyy-mm-dd") to java.sql.Date
It was suggested I use the following,
SimpleDateFormat formater = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-mm-dd");
Date result = formater.parse(dbirth.getText());
However, It seem to produce a java.util.Date
Error: found java.util.Date
Required : java.sql.Date

Urgent: java.sql.SQLException: Protocol Violation

I have Apache Web server installed and i've been acessing an Oracle 8i Database. Everything was working ok, but at some point when trying accessing the database it gave me this error, java.sql.SQLException Protocol Violation. I've revewied all the classes, classes111.zip to classes12.zip (i supposed this could be one of the causes) in the Apache Jserv configuration files, but i might be doing something wrong, or maybe this is not the problem. I would like to know, what this error is about, and how can i solve it? Maybe i have the solution, but not solving it right.

Hi, I need to download the java.sql package in order to connect to an Oracle database. Pl. suggest me a url where I could the above. (Searching sun's website yeilded only the doc files, ".html", which are for reference purpose. I am working on Apache with Oracle 8i as my database installed on Oracle 9i Applciation Server)

Amit.the java.sql package has been part of java since 1.1 at least. so it is fairly safe to assume that if you have the jdk you have java.sql
any decent zip/archive program can look in and extract the files in a a jar file.
you do not need to touch this however. what you need is to get the JDBC driver for Oracle.
