Need to change my query

I have a query like this
select * from table1
where entitlement in (select sno from table2 where )----------1
and category in (select sno from table2 where)----------2
and clazz in (select sno from table2 where)----------3
and subclass in (select sno from table2 where)----------4
the inner select statements will return either a single row or no rows at all
when it returns no rows i want to equade the outer where clause filter column to NULL.
i.e example
when the inner select return no row for the line marked -----1
the query should be
select * from table1
where entitlement is null ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> i want some thing like this if the inner select doesnt return any rows
and category in (select sno from table2 where)----------2
and clazz in (select sno from table2 where)----------3
and subclass in (select sno from table2 where)----------4
i tried to use decode statement in side the inner select but when it returns null i have to use "is " clause in the outer where condition
when it returns a value i cannot use "is" clause
how to change the query
regards
raj

Rewrite your example as a couple of 'create table' statements and a handful of insert statements. Then use the "code" tags (see footnote) to make and SQL readable (see code samples from other posters above) and someone may decide that it's worth spending a little time to help you.

  • Help needed in changing Access query to Oracle query

    hello folks,
I have already posted this question and got some help previously but i have additional query being added to the previous one so thought of seeking some help.here it goes
Am having an access report which comes from a query. the current query behind the report is a consolidated one and comes from quite a few tables . My requirement is to develop a crystal report( which comes with a native oracle db driver) which should look same as the access report. But am unable to use the access query becoz of its format or something. So anyone please throw some light on this. Any help would be kindly appreciated.

    The expression...

    As for...

  • Need help changing query

There has been change to requirements and i'm not sure how to change my query to handle the changes.
The table basically has entries for each end point of a connection and the query combines the from/to row. Now the requirement change is that the connection can have multiple end points with a single "from" end point. SO the result set may be multiple rows for a connection with the same "from endpoint" and the different "to endpoints".
The query is below ( Sorry about the bad formatting)
Basically the "seq<=2" is no longer true and there is no finite limit. If there are multiple endpoints, the key is that for each result "row" the "from endpoint" will be same but different "to endpoints"
I can do a "SIGN(seq-1),1 " to get the multiple rows but don't know how to remove the "max" without getting a "not a GROUP BY expression" error.
    Please help. Thank you.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
Sorry, I'm not familiar with your tables or yopur application.
Can you post a few rows of sample data, and the results you want from that data? For the sample data, executable CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements (or CREAT TABLE AS statements) are best.
Simplify as much as you can. for example, it looks like you're currently producing two sets of five columns (id, name, ra field and ran). Is it practical to ignore, say, name, ra and field for now? Once you learn how to handle id and ran, you'll probably know how to handle the other columns as well.
What version of Oracle are you using? (Always post this when you ask a question. You don't want to try an answer that won't work any more than I want to write an answer that won't work for you.)

If you want the list of values for command level parameter then you need to add another command like
    select PropertyField from table
and delete the links between this command and the existing command.
Now go to field explorer and edit the command level parameter and make it as dynamic and add the property field from newly added command.
    Hope this helps!

                    GROUP BY sortest_pidm;

    Hi,
That depends on whether spriden_pidm is unique, and on what you want for results.
Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevamnt columns only) for all tables, and the results you want from that data.
If you can illustrate your problem using commonly available tables (such as those in the scott or hr schemas) then you don't have to post any sample data; just post the results you want.
Either way, explain how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
It looks like you're doing something similiar to the following.
Using the emp and dept tables in the scott schema, produce one row of output per department showing the highest salary in each job, for a given set of jobs:
    DEPTNO DNAME          LOC           JOB_1   SAL_1 JOB_2   SAL_2 JOB_3   SAL_3
        20 RESEARCH       DALLAS        ANALYST  3000 MANAGER  2975 CLERK    1100
10 ACCOUNTING     NEW YORK      MANAGER  2450 CLERK    1300
30 SALES          CHICAGO       MANAGER  2850 CLERK     950On each row, the jobs are listed in order by the highest salary.
This seems to be analagous to what you're doing. The roles played by sortest_pidm, sortest_tesc_code and sortest_test_score in your sortest table are played by deptno, job and sal in the emp table. The roles played by spriden_pidm, id and name in your spriden table are played by deptno, dname and loc in the dept table.
It sounds like you already have something like the query below, that produces the correct output, except that it does not include the dname and loc columns from the dept table.
    SELECT    deptno
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1

                       GROUP BY  e.deptno
                       ,           e.job

;Since dept.deptno is unique, there will only be one dname and one loc for each deptno, so we can change the query by replacing "deptno" with "deptno, dname, loc" throughout the query (except in the join condition, of course):

                       ,           e.job

;Actually, you can keep using just deptno in the analytic PARTITION BY clause. It might be a little more efficient to just use deptno, like I did above, but it won't change the results if you use all 3, if there is only 1 danme and 1 loc per deptno.
By the way, you don't need so many sub-queries. You're using the inner sub-query to compute the MAX, and the outer sub-query to compute rn. Analytic functions are computed after aggregate fucntions, so you can do both in the same sub-query like this:
    SELECT    deptno, dname, loc
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
                   SELECT    e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
              ,       MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
              ,       ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  e.deptno
                                           ORDER BY       MAX (sal)     DESC
                                          )       AS rn
              FROM      scott.emp    e
              ,       scott.dept   d
              WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND       e.job                IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                  GROUP BY  e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
    GROUP BY  deptno, dname, loc
;This will work in Oracle 8.1 and up. In Oracle 11, however, it's better to use the SELECT ... PIVOT feature.

  • Advice needed for changing code within the Web IC...

    Hi,
I need to change some code within the GET_QUERY_RESULT Method, which is found:
    BSP->Z_CRM_IC
    View->AuiSearch
    Controller class ZL_CRM_IC_AuiSearch_impl
    Method do_handle_event
    Method eh_onsearch
    Method get_query_result
At present the method get_query_result belongs to class CL_CRM_AUI_QUERY_SERVICE.
I can create a subclass from this and call it ZL_CRM_AUI_QUERY_SERVIC, then redefine the method get_query_class, and then make the appropriate changes. But that may be all uneccessary. What I don't know is how to ensure this modified code can be called.
I have already made changes for method DO_INIT_CONTEXT, hence the reason the controller class ZL_CRM_IC_AUISEARCH_IMPL is identified. But this was simple because the view linked directly to this whereas you can see the code I need to change is further down in process chain.
I know that method get_query_result calls a number of BADI's, but these BADI's are too low for the information that I need and therfore really need to make my code changes in the get_query_result method.
I have been reading as much as I can on this subject, but without much success and therefore really count on experienced developers like yourselves to steer me in the right direction, or give advice.
    Jas

I will not suggest to put your Enhancements into CL_CRM_AUI_QUERY_SERVICE.
Rather in  Component BT  -> Class CL_CRM_BTIL .  AUi Query Service will Internally call the BOL Component ( get query result )
In your Framework Profile Config  , you specify the Component Set  . Ex: ALL
Component set have a List of Component Ex BP , BT .
SPRO-> CRM -> CRM Cross Application Components -> Generic Interaction layer -> Basic Settings
Now you can have your Custom , Component Set ( Ex : ZALL ) and Component ( ( Ex ; ZBT , Totally advisable for CIC Development Framework )
Have BT Copied into ZBT and  Specify  ZL_CRM_BTIL (  Inherited from CL_CRM_BTIL )
And in your Custom Component Set , Specify ZBT instead of BT .
Now Specify your Custom Component Set in your Framework Profile .
Now you got the Enhancement Spot in  ZL_CRM_BTIL->GET_QUERY_RESULT
Let me know if it make sense

  • How to change report query dynamically in Oracle APEX?

    Hi,
I want to dynamically change the where condition in APEX report query. Can anyone help me solve my this problem?
(Just want to change the query which we change in Oracle Reports using lexical parameter to change &Where, &Order by etc. dynamically!!)
    Thanks, Praful

    Hi
I've been using flexible queries in APEX for a few years now, and your question just added a whole new dimension to the flexible and powerful nature or writing reports in APEX.
While APEX Interactive reporting has almost completely removed the need the equivalent of Lexicals in Oracle Reports, I thought it might be fun to try and use lexicals in an APEX report.
Before we start I should summarise the powerful capability of APEX reporting to have oprtional parameters (lots and lots of them if this is needed).
For each parameter, you simply add a page item which will hold the value of the parameter.
The item/parameter can be populated by typing in the value, defining an LOV, using a date-picker etc.
To make the parameter optional simply use an OR in the where clause.
So for a apge item P200_PARAM1.....include
    WHERE (:P200_PARAM1 IS NULL
    OR COLUMN1 = :P200_PARAM1)
This way you can either leave the page item null or type in / select a value from a LOV.
There is a small quirk in APEX LOV's which sometimes returns a value of '%' or '%null%' - depending on the version - when no value is selected.
See Patrick Wolf's solution for this at Re: Null value handling in LOVs
I include this Application Process in all my APEX applications ;)
Now let's look at using the equivalent of Oracle Reports Lexicals......
First-off - this is based on the APEX SQL report - NOT Interactive Report.
It relies on the fact that you can let the query be parsed only at runtime.
    1. Define an SQL report entering the 'core' of your query.
With a query like SELECT ENAME, JOB FROM EMP
Select 'Generic Columns' option in the 'Column Headings' section
    Finish the report creation
    2. Define a page item - say P200_LEXICAL - type text on the page
    3. Edit the report and update the SQL query to include your lexical page item
SELECT ENAME, JOB FROM EMP &P200_LEXICAL. (REMEMBER THE '.' AT THE END)
Ensure that the option "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" is selected at the bottom of the query
    4. Add a button to the page -using 'Create a button displayed among this region's items' the will submit the page.
    5. Run the page - you will see all the employee names and job desdriptions
    6. Enter a where clause into the 'Lexical' textbox - say "WHERE ENAME LIKE 'K%'" and click the 'Go' button
Voila! your where clause is magically applied.
Try any variant you like adding an ORDER BY clause etc...... this is FUN!
    7. Clear the value of the LEXICAL and click go.
Edit the report and move the &P200_LEXICAL. into the selected columns (or add another one)
SELECT ENAME, JOB &P200_LEXICAL. FROM EMP
    8. Run the page
Enter ",SAL" in the textbox and "Go"
We can add as many columns as we like (subject to the "Maximum number of generic report columns:" set below the SQL query in the report edit section)
Now because we have all the flexibility in APEX of setting page items using SQL or PLSQL you can set the value of the lexical programatically, or just pre-set a few values in an LOV - the options are limitless.
While I've never had the need to use lexicals - you can see that APEX provides the most Flexible Lexicals in town.
Eat your heart out "Oracle Reports"!!!
    Have fun
    Mike

  • BEx: How to change a Query Variable that is not visible in Filters List?

    Hello Experts,
Good day, I'm currently editing an old query, I am changing the Query Variables with new ones, but I found one variable that I cannot replace.
Please see the screenshot below, in the Query Properties Window [Variable Sequence Tab (right side of picture)] the Variable that I am trying to replace (Unit) is visible. But when I look for the variable in the "Filter Tab" (left side of picture) under Characteristic Restrictions, it doesn't exist in the list.
How can I find this Variable and replace it with a new one?
Other reports are still using this variable so it will impact the other reports if I simply edit the variable. So I need to replace it with a new variable instead.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
SInce you are searching for a variable for Unit, look into below screenshot and navigate to the variables.
First click on drop down and select 'Entry for variable' then you will get lisl (after you click on drop down in 'Target Unit' drop down option.
Normally these type of variable called 'Formula Variable' try editing any of the formula and locate the option as shown below,
Hope it helps! don't forget to update the final solution and mark the correct/helpful answers.
Remember it will help others to find the solution and motivate the members to answer your question.
    Thanks,

COMMIT;And here is what i expect from my query:

    ORDER_NR     PRIORITYCREATE_DATE     STATUS     STATUS_DATE     DESCRIPTION     AGE_1     AGE_2     WAITNG     STEP_A     STEP_B     STEP_C     STEP_5     STEP_K     STEP_E     STEP_F     STEP_S     STEP_R

The AGE_1 is the difference in days between the 'CREATE_DATE' and IF EXSIST the STEP 'U' then STEP_DATE or if the STEP 'U' is not found in TABLE_2 then it should show the difference in days between the 'CREATE_DATE' and the 'SYSDATE'
The AGE_2 is the difference in days between the STEP 'A' STEP_DATE and IF EXSIST the STEP 'R' then STEP_DATE or if the STEP 'R' is not found in TABLE_2 then it should show the difference in days between the 'CREATE_DATE' and the 'SYSDATE'
The WAITING is the difference in days between CREATE_DATE and STEP 'A' STEP_DATE
The following columns show the days how long the ORDER_NR stays in these STEP, if an ORDER_NR comes into the same STEP more then one time it should be calculated together.
If the ORDER_NR skips a step it should show a zero in the specific field.
I hope my explanation is good enough, my english skills are far away from good.
    Thanks all for your help.

    Hi,
    i changed this query:
    with t2 as (
                select  t.*,
                        lead(step_date) over(partition by order_nr order by step_date) next_step_date

               t1.act_step,
               t1.step_date,
               t1.employee,

            t2

group by t1.order_nrthen i get the ORA-00979 Error.
    Whats wrong?
    I have another question.
How can i handle i i want to group to or more 'STEP's in one Column.
in Case of this i want that the column 'STEP_B' contains all days for STEP 'B' and STEP '5'.
I tried already with a + Operation like this:
    with t2 as (
                select  t.*,
                        lead(step_date) over(partition by order_nr order by step_date) next_step_date
                  from  table_2 t

                max(
                    case t2.wo_step
                      when 'U' then t2.step_date
                    end
               sysdate
              ) - t1.create_date age_1,
            nvl(
                max(
                    case t2.wo_step
                      when 'R' then t2.step_date
                    end
               sysdate
              ) - t1.create_date age_2,
            Round( sum(
                case t2.wo_step
                  when 'B' then t2.next_step_date - t2.step_date
                end
               ) +
            sum(
                case t2.wo_step
                  when '5' then t2.next_step_date - t2.step_date
                end
               ), 3 ) step_b
      from  table_1 t1,
            t2
      where t2.order_nr = t1.order_nr
      group by t1.order_nr,
               t1.priority,
               t1.create_date,
               t1.act_step,
               t1.step_date,
               t1.employee,
t1.descriptionBut this does reply evertime a NULL.

  • Need help with SQL Query

I am trying to build a query that sums up 12 columns depending on some accounting variables.
    example:
    SELECT gbmcu, gbco, gbfy,'',SUM(gban01 gban02 gban03 gban04 gban05+gban06+gban07+gban08+gban09+gban10+gban11+gban12) AS Oil_Volumes
    FROM PRODDTA.F0902
    WHERE GBCO = '00099'
    AND GBFY = 5
    AND GBLT = 'QU' AND GBOBJ = 5015 AND GBSUB = '105'
    GROUP BY gbmcu, gbco, gbfy
The condition that changes is :AND GBLT = 'QU' AND GBOBJ = 5015 AND GBSUB = '105'
I need to do this for 17 different conditions - I need to make the query as optimized as possible.
I tried using a case statement but that takes forever (the table is over 4 million records to scan through).
Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions on how to create something to perform these calculations.
    thanks,
    Pam

I think I would tend to write that query as:
    SELECT gbmcu, gbco, gbfy,
           SUM(CASE WHEN gblt = 'QA' AND gbobj = 5015 AND gbsub = '105' THEN
                    gban01+gban02+gban03+gban04+gban05+gban06+gban07+gban08+gban09+gban10+gban11+gban12 END) Oil_Sales
           SUM(CASE WHEN gblt = 'QU' AND gbobj = 5015 AND gbsub = '105' THEN
                    gban01+gban02+gban03+gban04+gban05+gban06+gban07+gban08+gban09+gban10+gban11+gban12 END) Oil_Volumes
    FROM proddta.f0902
    WHERE gbco = '00099' and
          gbfy = 5 and
          gblt IN ('QA', 'QU') and
          gbpbj = 5015 and
          gbsub = '105'
GROUP BY gbmcu, gbco, gbfySUM the CASE rather than CASE SUM. Also, as written, your query will look at all of the records in f0902 whether or not they meet one of the Case criteria, so I would put the required values in the WHERE clause as well. Your samples only show gblt changing, so you may need to make the gbpbj and gbsub predicates IN lists as well.
If the query runs in 1.5 hours calculating one value, I would expect it to be about the same calculating 17 values, since I would bet that most of the run time is accessing the table rather than doing the math. It would almost certainly be faster than running essentially the same query 17 times.
Indexes on some or all of the columns in the WHERE clause may help, depending on how selective the columns are. At a guess, I would suggest that gbco and gbfy would be good candidates.
Finally, are you sure that gbsub is a character field? The only example we have is a number.
    HTH

  • Need to change report data source on reports in a copied universe

We are setting up a new testing environment.  So I made a copy of our BO universe so we could have two different testing universes.  I then created a copy of the data source database that will be used as the data source for the reports in the copied universe.  The two different databases have the exact same tables, columns and indexes as the development database.   The only difference will be the data inside the tables.
I now need to change the reports to use the new universe since the reports were written using the universe instead of using the database.  I am not changing anything else in the reports.  I just need them to run against a different Oracle database.
So I go into Crystal Reports version 11.5.0.313 and open the report up.  I then go into Database fields in Field Explorer to change the data source.  I then go to the Set Datasource Location screen.  I open up the universe label by clicking on the plus sign and I select the copied universe.  When I do that, the Business Objects Query panel screen opens up.  Because I have switched universes, Crystal Reports wants me to reselect the columns and rebuild the query.
We have over three thousand reports so we are trying to avoid rebuilding them.  I am looking for a better way to change what database a report runs against.
Note: All of the reports will be run ion demand.  Nothing will be scheduled.
Any suggestions and information will be greatly appreciated.
Has anyone run into this?   What was your solution to this problem?

    Hi Joe,
Moved your post to the Universe Forum.
First you are using the original release of XI R2. You need to upgrade to Service Pack 6 by:
Run License Manager first to get the keycode if you don't have it on paper somewhere.
Then download these and uninstall then run full build first:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100011802732008E/crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe

  • SQ01 - need to change selection screen text of parameters

I am using KNA1 table in my SQ01(Abap query) and am having Kunnr as the selection screen parameter .The default text of Kunnr coming from KNA1 is 'customer number 1'.I need to change this to show it as 'customer number'.
I changed the text in infoset in long text and header value, but it still does not work out. Any suggestions ??.Pls let me know.

    Hi,
When you define the selection screen fields in the info set..There will be text box for selection text..There you can give the text..
I tried this..And it worked for me..
    Thanks,

  • Need to change Pipeline URL

    Hello,
I need to change the pipeline url for my XI. I did changed it in SLD -> Business System and in SXMB_ADM -> Integration Engine Configuration. But when I check the configuration in SXMB_ADM (F7), it seems that everything is not correct:
Yellow triangle and this message: "Corresponding Integration Server: Current Configuration <> System Landscape"
What can I do to force the new pipeline url to be used ? Restart something, refresh something ? I did refresh everything I can, but it didn't fix the problem.
Please be specific in your directions, my XI administrative knowledge is limited.
    Thanks
    Jerome

    Hello,
First thanks everyone for your help. Now Pipeline url are the same everywhere.
However, the server seems to still listen on the old url... Just to give you the context, the old and new url are almost the same, I just changed the port. Currently, old url still returns "Empty HTTP query received" and new one return "http error 404".
I did restart all instances in sapmcc  to try to force the change, but it didn't help.
What should I try next ? Change another setting, refresh/restart something ?
    Thanks again,
    Jerome

  • How I can change this query to generate a sequence

    This query
    select
    SZSTCLA_PIDM,
      SZSTCLA_TERM_CODE,
      SZSTCLA_LAST_NAME
      from SZSTCLA,SHRTGPA
    where SZSTCLA_PIDM IN ( 120125,186114)
    AND SHRTGPA_TERM_CODE = SZSTCLA_TERM_CODE
    AND  shrtgpa_pidm  = SZSTCLA_PIDM
      AND SZSTCLA_RECORDED_EARNED_CRED > 0
ORDER BY SZSTCLA_TERM_CODE returns the following results
    SZSTCLA_PIDM     SZSTCLA_TERM_CODE      SZSTCLA_LAST_NAME
