Need to link visitors to my site directly to Itunes

On some sites, I see a button that allows visitors to that site to directly link with Itunes, launch the application, and automatically subscribe to their podcast without having to look for it. How do I do that?

In itunes click on the arrow next to your podcast.
That brings up an ituens page for your podcast. Cntrl-click on the show image. Copy URL. Create a <a href=" html code based on thsi tag and use an itunes icon of some sort or just the words itunes.
Now when people click on this link on your site it will open this itunes page.

Need guidance on interacting with FrontPage site (post retry)

BACKGROUND: redesigning and programming a photographers
website who is using Frontpage to upload files.
Murray told me a couple months ago that I can't work with the
site directly because it will cause problems for Frontpage and that
I will need to send
the files to my client to upload through FP.
QUESTIONS:
Can I use ftp to download from the site without causing a
problem?
Does FP do anything special with extensions would preclude me
from doing ftp if FP has only been used to upload/download files?
Can I use ftp to create and use a subdirectory to work in for
development purposes or will FP puke at that?
I am going to be doing some basic CF programming to the site
and it would be really difficult without the ability to ftp.
I am not sure to what extent my client has used FP extensions
since she basically has a home page with some pictures and links
and then Photoshop
created slide shows everywhere else. There is no programming
(except for the PS slide shows) anywhere in the site.
Any help would be appreciated.

Canon 860 Series (Pixma) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips

After spending several hours sorting out Canon Pixma OSX problems here are my thoughts:
Canon 860 Series (Pixma 868) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips
Problem:
- New imac and MacBook Pro 2012 (OSX 10.8.2) had a problem using Canon Pixma 868 printer on network and would not scan or print using Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print), which has advanced scanning and photo printing functions.
- When I connected the canon printer to my imac, OSX 10.8.2 automatically downloaded and installed drivers for Canon 860 series printer. I could then add the new printer (select ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”) and printer would work while connected via USB but could not get to print or scan over network wifi.
- The original Canon 860 Series CD does not work with 10.8 and the manual / online instructions did not make sense (as based on CD install).
Solution:
1) Install Canon Printer Drivers and Software (from official Canon site)
Go to canon support site, review FAQ, then download and install following Pixma 860 Series software & drivers for OSX 10.8 (links see below). The version I downloaded is in brackets but check for updated version. Full instructions are below.

2) Check Canon Printer and Software Working while connected via USB
Once you have downloaded and installed drivers and software and restarted computer, check that the printer and Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print) are working via USB. Open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App) and make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it shows the correct SSID Wifi settings (under the Canon IJ Network Tool App ‘Setup menu’). This is normally done as part of the automatic install but worth double checking
3) Add new network printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”).
After you have checked USB printing turn off printer, unplug the USB cable and shutdown the Canon IJ Network Tool App.
Then turn the printer back on and wait 30s. Then add a new printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”). Once you select “+” (add new printer), wait 10-30s for the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer to appear in the new window eg Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) (Kind: “Canon IJ Network”)
DO NOT ADD THE MX 860 SERIES BONJOUR SCANNER (the Bonjour Scanner is the built-in software, is not needed and often appears first on the add printer list). The Canon scanner can be accessed used through the MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 software (which has much better functions)
You will now have two Printer Canon MX860 (USB) and Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network). Set the Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network) as default and test print and scan
If the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer does not appear, check the printer and make sure that the printer can see the wifi network. On the printer select Menu / Settings / Device Settings / Lan Settings / WLAN Setting List. It should say WLAN Active, identify the SSID and have an IP address
If the printer can not see the Wifi Network, plug the USB cable back in, then open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App). Make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it has your SSID settings (under setup), if it has this info, restart the computer and the printer and try again

My i web version is 2.0.4. Can I publish my i web site directly to a FTP server address?

After Apple stopped hosting with Mobile Me, I moved hosting for my i web built web site to Network solutions. I was told by a Network solutions technician that I can publish an updated iweb site directly to a FTP server address. But I do not see that as an option with my 2.0.4 i web version. Can I update my
version of i web? Or do I need to purchase a later version of i web for this function?

You can open your iWeb 2 site in iWeb 3 and continue as before with the addition of FTP. However you should be able to upload with no problem in CyberDuck or Transmit - both are easy to use and reliable. Note that when you publish to a local folder you should usually upload the contents of the folder to the server, not the folder itself, unless you want the folder name (which must have no spaces in it) to appear in the URL.
Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service.

Link to a new site that opens within my site

Can someone tell me how I can create a link to an external site, where the site opens up within the body of my site? Do I need a javascript for this?

Hi David,
The iframe option is fabulous. I've used it for my ebay link as well as a "news" section.
I do still have one issue with the "news" section – I seem to have my background image from the body showing through in the padding of the div that holds the iframe. I've tried everything, but can't seem to get rid of it! I didn't have this problem with the ebay link and didn't have this problem before I added the iframe. Any suggestions?

Restrict visitors to a site by IP address

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but thought I would give it a shot.
I need to build a small website to collect entries to a sweepstakes. My client wants me to use an Internet application form service (Wufoo.com) to create the entry form that visitors will fill out for a chance to win a prize. Which is fine, I've used Wufoo many times but Wufoo will not do this thing I need to accomplish.
Just for the sake of offering all information, the site is hosted using a Virtual Private Server. (Debian 4 OS, Apache Web Server 2.0, PHP 5.0.4, MySQL 4.1.14)
Since my client wants to only allow visitors within the United States to enter the sweepstakes I thought it would be best to somehow only allow visitors with US IP addresses access to that page and also redirect visitors that attempt to access the form/entry page and send them to another page that says, sorry but the sweepstakes is for US visitors only.
There are probably a ton of ways to accomplish this but I can't figure it out.
In the interest of brevity, I won't list what I've learned, tried, and certain specific questions I've had because maybe someone out there has a solution that is completely different from what I've found. Thanks in advance.

There are two kinds of potential visitors to your site. 1) Those that know how the low-level IP works and 2) those that don't. You only care about people in group 2 because you are powerless to stop those in group 1. All you can do with those in group 1 is to refuse to send the winnings to a non-US address.
For group 2, you just need to be a bit sneaky. Record the name, address, and IP address of every visitor. Allow non-US addresses on the entry form. Then, after they click submit, record the address and IP address. Verify that the provided address is in the US. If not, display the "sorry" page.
There may be some people who are in group 2 but are on their way to group 1. At this point, they may try to enter a US street address but you will refuse to accept their entry because you have already flagged their IP address as being non-US.
I think is this your easiest, most fool-proof way of doing what you want. Let your users self-select. You can find out which IP addresses are assigned to non-US locations, but you would need to use the full ARINdatabase. It is possible, but difficult. Plus, there are lots of US-based proxies available that would defeat any ARIN or Geolocation scheme because they are, in fact, in the US.

How can I make the links work when the site is published.

I am a new iWeb user and have built the website www.realmoroccotours.com and am having a few problems that I hope someone can help me with.
First - in Iweb everything works fine but when it is published the links in the top and bottom menu do not work. If I clic on the link before the page is fully loaded it odes work. My host gave me the following information but I have no idea what it means or how to fix it. I have rebuilt the whole site but still the same thing happens.

Secondly, the site loads very slowly - although not all the time. Any suggestions on how to make it faster loading would be appreciated.

All it means is that the image is blocking the navigation menu/overlapping - all you need to do is move it out of the way and the menu should work. Do a view all in iWeb and you can then see what is overlapping and what you need to move.
You could also build your own nav menu if you like so that your site will be found more easily - javascript, which the iWeb menu is, is not always found that easily. You don't need to re-build the whole site - just the nav menu.
If you want to speed up your site, then you could try using Web Crusher or iWeb Maestro to speed it up - you need to do this post publishing though, so publish to a local folder and then run it through either of these to get rid of the bloated code that iWeb creates and then upload your site.

Why are most of the links on Oracle's site that relate to Java broken?

Why are most of the links on Oracle's site that relate to Java broken? For example, try searching for SocketChannel and then clicking on any of the returned links, in particular click on www.oracle.com/technetwork/servers-storage/ts-4222-159193.pdf.
This is the second time I have tried to search for Java information and both times found broken links.
Does anyone know where I can find more information on using a SocketChannel?

Do i need a CAS server per AD site?

So I have been browsing through a lot of Exchange Server documentation, guides and best practice but I have not found (or misunderstanding) the CAS placement for my situation.
We are currently in the process of upgrading to Exchange server 2013. As we have an Exchange 2003 only deployment, we will first need to move to Exchange 2010 and get rid of all the Exchange 2003 servers and then move on to Exchange 2013. We have a
single domain with 21 AD sites. 8 of these sites (Vessels at Sea) are connected by vSat the other 13 of these sites a remote offices with a more stable connection than vSat.
We want to have a MBX server at every site and what I get from the available documentation on the internet I will also need a HUB server per AD site. What I am not sure about is, do I also need a CAS server per site? What I get from this excerpt:
"A new service was introduced with Exchange Server 2010 to allow these MAPI connections to be handled by the Client Access
server. The RPC Client Access service provides data access through a single, common path of the Client Access server, with the exception of public folder requests, which are still made directly to the Mailbox server. This change applies business logic to clients

need a CAS server per site.
Can somebody give me any definite insights in this one?
To summarize the question:
In a multi site AD with a MBX server per site, do I also need a CAS server per site?

Linking pages within my site

I know this is so easy, but for whatever reason it gets me
everytime!!!! I know how to create links with in my site but
everytime I test it in the browser only the first link works and
then the second works, but goes to a different page. I also want
every page to link back to the homepage but having issues with that
as well. I imagine it has to do with how my folders are set up on
the server. I have the info to log on remotely to the server if
anyone cares to see what I am doing....Please help...I just want my
site up and running!!

I’m just trying to show you what you need to do step by

Write down on paper your page links and where you want them
to go.
I’m not sure what software you’re using but in
dreamweaver you have a property box that shows you all your links.
Just highlight the words with the link in them and it shows you the
link in the property link box.
To find the property box go to the windows button on the top
of your dreamweaver page and your find the properties button. Click
on this and in the property panel should appear at the bottom of
you page. In there you will find a box with the word links. If you
put your page in Design or Split mode, again highlight the word
example Wedding and you will see that word with the hyperlink
viewable to it in the property link box.

Steps to create
Create project, Subproject, Object (freely definable, for the purpose of

for the file, select your text file, the system will copy the fiedls from
text file (tab delimited file. It contains field names in the first row).
Save it.
6. Maintain structure relations. Generally, we need not do anything here.
7. Maintain field mapping and conversation rules. Here put the cursor on the
field and click on source field, now you can see the list of field available,
from which select one which is equal to the field on which you out the
cursor. You can also write coding (ABAP Code) on any field for the purpose of
validation of data. Save it.
8. Maintain fixed values, translations, user-defined routines. Here also you
can maintain values, if required.
9. Specify files. In this screen, place the cursor on Legacy data, then click
on create button. The system asks for the file name, (the text file, in which
the legacy data is there), enter the file name, description and select Data
for one source structure (table), delimiter as Tabulator, file structure
as Field names at the beginning of the file.
10. Assign files. The file name you specified in earlier step comes
automatically here, If the file name does not come, then click
on assignment button and assign the file.
11. Read data. Here specify the transaction number (the number not less
than the number of rows in the text file). Execute it.
12. Display read data. Here, you can see the values, how the system read the

13. Convert data. Here specify the transaction number (the number not less

Could use some help. I need to link to a specific spry tabbed panel on page "A" from a link on page "B" I have tried several "solutions" on the web and had no luck. When I add the code needed at the bottom of the code where you initiate the instance, it stacks the content of ALL panels in the first panel, and renders the tabs inoperable. This is a key feature I need in a new site being developed.
