Need to repair damaged activex file {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7}

Does anyone know how to repair this damaged activex file? {E2883e8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} If an update will fix it, then please include instructions on how to update it, because when it is right clicked there is no update option, only an option to view the properties. Thanks in advance.

Hi, ok you ruled all of that out. Can you go to Tools, Internet Options, and click on the General Tab, then find and click on
Settings, then View Objects. Find the ActiveX Control in question and right click. You should be able to Remove/Delete from there.
If not, then go to this Microsoft site and look for "Can I delete add ons or ActiveX Controls" and follow it.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Internet-Explorer-add-ons-frequently-asked-que stions
Finally, if that doesn't work, then assume the program that installed it can't work with a damaged file and ignore it.
Is it causing any issue, or did you just want to remove it?
Thanks,

  • {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} damaged file, how can I get good working flash and shockwave?

Hi, I have been researching these forums for too long!  I cannot find an answer that resolves my problem.  I too had the damaged file and 3 empty java files.  I deleted them.  I searched for the gp.ocx and gp.inf.  I did not find the ocx but found an agp file.  I deleted it but it did not delete the damaged file, thus my justification for deleting it.
I have IE8, Windows XP SP3, and have had trouble playing certain games for months.  I get so frustrated each time I undertake trying to resolve the problem that it never gets done.  I used to have Shockwave and somewhere it was lost.  I tried unsuccessfully to install it several times until I finally removed all but the adobe reader and downloaded the flash and shockwave again.  This time the shockwave took but it still is not working.  Initially the problem with shockwave seemed to be the SwDir.dll, and SWDNLD files.
Also the DLM kept coming up saying click to download.  I did only to have it disappear after closing it.
I hope this is sufficient information to give me guidance.  Also, Ken said that he went directly to the adobe ftp to download his files directly.  Where are those?  I am losing money everyday that I cannot get this to operate/function properly.
Thank you so much in advance for any help any one can give me.

Hi.  Here is a link for downloading shockwave player directly from Adobe.

(Have downloaded it quickly and simply for Imac - don't have it working yet though)

    Search versiontracker.com or macupdate.com.
Or better yet, since Office is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?sel=33607053> rather than an Apple forum.

  • How to repair damaged DBX file of outlook express?

I am currently having 4 GB data available in inbox.dbx. But there is one problem with that. I am not able to see my mails as header corrupt the dbx files. This is very annoying. I tried many things to solve the problem from my side but it was not helpful
to me. So I am leaving the question over here so that I can get the response from you people that what should I do to repair the damaged DBX file of outlook express. Thank you so much in advance for reading and replying to this thread.

The manual solution starts with finding or locating the corrupted DBX file(s). You need to start the Registry
Editor to find the location where Outlook Express stores its files. Follow the steps given below to know how to do this:
Press Win+R to open the Run window.
    Type regedit into
    it and press enter.
The Registry Editor window will be opened. In the left hand side pane, expand the folders in
    this manner:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Identities > XYZ > Software > Microsoft > Outlook
    Express > 5.0
Now in the right hand side pane, locate the Store Root settings from the list and double-click
    it.
The path will be shown where Outlook Express stores its files. Copy the full path from there.
Once you have copied the path, you need to move the mailbox file(s). Follow the steps given below to know
    how to do this:
First of all close the Outlook Express program if it is opened.
Now paste the path (copied earlier) on your Windows directory and press enter.
You can copy or move all the files from this location to a new location. After that, delete all the files from the
original location if you have copied them.
In the third step, you need to import the DBX file(s) into Outlook Express. It would be easy for Outlook
Express to import the file(s) without causing any trouble. Follow the steps given below to know how to do this:
Start Outlook Express on your system.
Click on File menu > Import.
    The Outlook Express Import window
will be opened. Select the Outlook Express version in the list from which you want to import the emails. If you are unsure with that, you can select Outlook Express 6. Click on Next.
Now click on Browse to select the directory where the files are saved. This is the very same
directory in which you have moved the files from original location earlier. Click on Next.
Select the items you want to import. For example: you can import All folders or the Selected
    folders. Click on Next.
Now start your Outlook Express and check your mailbox folders again.

  • Repairing damaged itunes files

Hi, not sure what happened but i went into my itunes one morninging and found my library file was damaged and a new one was in place. the new one only had a few of my songs... i lost play lists and almost all my music. any way to repair the old damaged file and get my play lists and music back? PS I have minimal computer knowledge.. Thank Q !

I'd love to know an answer to this one too. Better yet, is there any reason why iTunes just decides to randomly corrupt the library in the first place? It's really getting to be extremely annoying dealing with this once every handful of starts, especially when I have to resync my iPod up with a "new library" each time.

  • Repairing damaged adobe photoshop .psd files?

One of my project folders got deleted in a freak accident. I won't go into it, but I recovered one of the .psd files using a commercial undelete program (Fast File Undelete from DTI Data). It didn't work (go figure) and whenever I try to open the .psd file photoshop (7.0) shows a message box that says, "There was a problem reading the layer data. Read the composite data instead?" When I click the Read Composite Data button another box shows that reads, "Could not open '[file name]' because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop."
It seems kind of like it is very close to working, because there is even a thumbnail. I also recovered a handful of .jpg's and .tga's, which are also broke. Does anyone know of a utility that could attempt to repair a .psd, .tga or .jpg?

Sometimes Photoshop is adding a few bytes in the beginning of the file when the file is saved, and then the same Photoshop is giving an error and complains about that files... All you have to do is to delete that unnecessarily group of bytes.
Assuming that you already know what is a HEX editor and how to use it I'll write here a few steps you can do before opening a "corrupt" PSD file:
1 - Make a back-up (copy) of the file before making any changes.
2 - Open the "corrupted" file in an usual HEX editor (NOT text editor!) and look for such groups of character just in the beginning: 8BPS and after a few bytes 8BIM another group of bytes and again 8BIM.
3 - This succession should be respected strictly: 8BPS ... 8BIM ... 8BIM. These groups should be very close to each other and it's easy to find them.
4 - Delete all bytes before 8BPS group (Shift+Delete) and save the file... =)
5 - Open it in Photoshop and Enjoy.

Error when opening iTunes : iTunes has stopped working '' A problem caused the program to stop working correctly''.
When I repaired damaged files the problem still exists and also after uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling iTunes.
My pc is working with windos 8.
    Is there a solution?

    Hey there Rodney274,
It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Outlook 2007 .ost file corrupt / scanpst.exe 3-4x daily & 3 to 4 runs before "clean", long term issue - need help on how to repair my .OST FILE once and for all, please...

I've had many issues with my .ost data file (couple years) with:  very slow going into outlook 2007, scanpst.exe 3-4x before its "clean", and have to run it few times daily.
No major issues i can pinpoint, but just SLOW, hangs at times, file less than 1GB, IT people just mess it up more, etc.
NEED some PROFESSIONAL minds to help me get this data file cleaned up once and for all... forever hopefully.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Why the need to repair it?
    You could:
    1. Create a new Outook profile a different name and a new ost will be created ( leaving the old one there)
    2. Close up Outlook completely, delete the existing.ost and re-open Outlook to create a new one.
    3. Close Outlook completely and rename the existing .ost and re-open Outlook to create a new one.

  • Stuck: Need Disk repair but DVD drive dead and only have USB 1

[1 Ghz flat-panel iMac with USB 1 ports (no USB 2) and also Firewire 400]
I noticed a strange discrepancy (small but concerning) between the size of a folder on hard drive (folder of all mp3's with no subfolders) and the backup of the same folder on a mounted thumb drive.
(The size difference was not due to any invisible .DS_Store files and both folders are displayed in List view format.)
    Disk Utility reports three things:
    1. Incorrect number of thread records
    2. Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
    3. Checking volume information.
Volume free block count",0)   [I might have mangled this line]
(It should be 13438611 instead of 13437937)
Here is the GOOD (but these are useless as explained under the "Bad"):
    - I have a Tiger 10.4 boot DVD for a repair ==>but see below
    - I also have a Disk Warrior disk (never used)
    Here is the BAD:
    - My built-in optical drive [Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105] is -- I now discover - defunct and DEAD - it does not run the Tiger Boot DVD (in pristine shape).
    - I bought an external SuperDrive (unopened) but I believe no boot from USB 1 is possible in PowerPC so a SuperDrive with USB 1 is useless.
    Questions:
1.) Is there any way to boot from some external source (optical drive is DEAD) to run Disk Utility and/or Disk Warrior? -- I see none in this case! (gulp).
2.) More importantly (and this is my fundamental concern): Do the three Disk Utility hard drive issues constitute any direct threat to the integrity of my files?
I have almost everything backed up to duplicate thumb drives over these many months as standard practice.
Are these Disk Utility errors fully isolated to hard drive directory-keeping...or do these directory damage errors pose the possibility of mangling or harming my files or their metadata (filesize, etc.).
Put another way, when files are backed-up from a hard drive under the Disk Utility reports above, do they remain unharmed and undamaged by the situations reported by Disk Utility?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Jeff and Michael,
Thank you both for your generous and thoughtful input.
Michael: As I slept on it overnight, the exact same idea occurred to me of trying a Target Mode to the iMac from my Lion MacbookPro (I have it but stupidly have yet to use it much!).
I did buy a Firewire 800 (MBP) to Firewire 400 (iMac) adapter cable a few months ago!
CONCERN: Would there be potential compatibility issues or risks in running Lion 10.7's Disk Utility against the hard drive of the old OSX 10.4 iMac in Target Disk Mode?
==> Assuming an "it's ok" answer to the Target Disk question, would the majority of users agree that the Target Disk Mode would be more prudent than running:
fsck -fy   in Single User Mode
I have never done fsck -fy before especially because I was under the impression there were issues with Journaled drived but from what I have read today...it looks ok to do)
Jeff: Can't thank you enough for the reference to the OTW DVD drive. I might first invest $10 in one of those DVD lens cleaner disks that I've read about. It's probably not the issue or else why would the drive read commercial Music cds perfectly well!
    Thanks,

  • Repairing "damaged" iTunes library?

Is there any way of repairing a damaged library file? Or is there a problem with the current version of iTunes that corrupts library files when it reads them? Here's my situation:
I opened iTunes (latest version 7.4.2) the other day and it said my library was corrupted/damaged, and it made a new library file. All the music files are intact. I tried to copy over a backup library file from a month ago (which worked without problems a month ago) but it said that it too was corrupted/damaged. This doesn't make sense to me, and seems to indicate another kind of problem rather than with the library file.
So my question is as follows. Is there a way to:
    a. Do something to iTunes to make it recognize my Library as valid?
    b. Repair a "damaged" library file somehow?
    Thanks
    -Kevin

RELAX -- i was able to restore my iTunes Library to work again without any changes or loss. -- see below for what i did, here's how it happened...
...when my ext HD was accidentally disconnected while running itunes, the app froze. I reconnected the HD and restarted itunes. A dialog box saying something like importing data came up and it stayed for a long period and i could see it was working the HD. i probabably should have let it run until it was done, but i pressed the stop option after 5 minutes because i thought it might be hung up. Seems all the HD jogging meant it was rebuilding the 160 Gb library -- who knew?
anyway, i guess the app was trying to do an automatic restoration process (we need to communicate better, iTunes...) The aborted process created a new library file that had only about a quarter of my music and no playlists, which obviously is not OK at all, so i came to this discussion for some clues...I saw a lot of discussion about reloading everything which seemed kinda wack, and was not an option so i pieced together some bits of best answers.
    What worked for me was:
    1.Quit iTunes.
    2. Copy the largest, most recent library from the "Previous itunes library" folder to desktop. It will have a date appended to its name.
    3. New default iTunes library and iTunes Library.xml files are created in the iTunes folder if you restarted iTunes when it couldn't read your preferred library. The itunes library file has an itunes logo on it and the iTunes Library.xml file is a text document. Trash these two new files. Don't bother with other Library files in sub-folders, because just the two top level Library files are read by the app.
    4. Drag the library file from the desktop back into the iTunes Music folder. The file should be renamed just "iTunes Library" -- Don't worry about not adding a replacement iTunes Library.xml file - a new one will automatically regenerate if the iTunes Library can be read.
    5. Start iTunes and ta-da...Hopefully that'll do it. Do something to celebrate, I was so stoked i signed up for this discussion to share what worked for me... Help a neighbor, or do something nice...

  • After updating to Yosemite, I updated iPhoto. Alert said to convert my library to new iPhoto. Then alert said I needed to repair permissions. Then a freeze. Then iPhoto won't find and show my library. How do I fix this?

After updating to Yosemite, I updated iPhoto. Alert said to convert my library to new iPhoto. Then alert said I needed to repair permissions. Then a freeze. Then iPhoto won't find and show my library. How do I fix this? I can see the library icon on my external drive, but it doesn't show as a library in iPhoto. When I double click on the icon, nothing happens. When I choose it from alternate menu, doesn't open. Where do I get help?

    Peter
Do you have a back up? What version of iPhoto do you have? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Repair damaged iTunes library?

    Hello,
First of all, I know this question has been asked many times, but I'm quite frustrated by what poor answers there have been. None of them actually actually address how to repair a library, just replace it from back-ups, etc., which is not an option for me (you'll see why below).
This morning, to my horror, I got a notification that my library was damaged and that a new library would be created. "No problem," I said, "This has happened before. I will just use a copy from Previous Libraries."
I looked in there and the last copy of my library iTunes saved was from months ago; most of my ratings and playlists would be gone (all less than 6 months old).
So, let me put this clearly for anyone who replies: using a saved library from the Previous Libraries folder is not an option.*
I then found the method of using iTunes Library.xml to regenerate your old library with playlists and such. This looked promising except that when I launched iTunes and it made the new blank library, it also erased everything in the .xml file. Very, very stupid design on Apple's part. So now I have my damaged .itl file, my new, empty .itl file, as well as an overwritten, blank, .xml file.
Does anyone know any way to actually repair a damaged .itl file? Obviously if some part is corrupted, I expect to lose A playlist or SOME ratings or anything, but now I'm losing 50-ish playlists and 5000 track/album ratings and my heart is broken. I'm imagining it has some sort of hierarchical structure as the .xml file has, and hoping there exists a method of cleaving the unreadable records from an otherwise solid database.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Ian
*It would be normally, so on a side note, can anyone tell me why iTunes might not have been making back-ups regularly? Is there a way to force iTunes to make a back-up in Previous Libraries on a daily basis or something?

There isn't a way to repair a .itl file unless the damage is part of something greater happening to your computer where the directory is damaged and repairing that (e.g., Disk Utility) fixes files in general.  The .itl can only be handled by the iTunes application.  It is in proprietary binary format so it isn't something you can edit like a .xml.
iTunes does not do backups of any kind.  The previous libraries are created when you update the iTunes application and it creates a new copy of the library to use with the newer iTunes version.  If you want to automate backup you will need to include it as part of a larger scale backup of your computer (not a bad idea) or write something such as an Automator script to start iTunes where it copies the library files to a folder with a date time stamp and then starts the iTunes application.
What exact steps did you do in using the .xml?  It should not have erased the .xml unless you put it in the iTunes folder of the new library you were creating.
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 - use .xml version of library file to restore most of the information in your library.  Has you drag the .xml to the Desktop then use the import command to create playlists.

  • Repair iWeb "Domain" Files?

Hello there. I have a question
I've spent many weeks creating a site using iWeb and published most of it already. I have just made many more changes that haven't been published to .Mac. Just earlier today Thursday July 27, my Macbook began to crash, so I saved my progress in iWeb and it closed fine so I held the power button and it shut off. I turned it (meaning the computer) back on and opened iWeb to return to my work. After 3 or 4 seconds of opening iWeb, a msg displayed on the screen claiming the program "iWeb" shut down unexpectedly. I attempted again to open it and it returned with the same results. I did a bit of research on the int and tried a few tricks and it turned up nothing. Anywho, I was curious to know if there is any program avaliable for download that would open the damaged "Domain" file and allow me to repair or restore any changes to a previous point in time. If there is none out there, is it possible for me to write my own program to do this, and if there is, what is a good program to do this with? Thanks and please respond. Oh...and the site of mine that is on the internet is http://web.mac.com/eddy7496

i really need to fix it...
Don't use the icon view when the Finder. User the list view. Then the icon becomes the iWeb icon. In other words it's a Finder feature, not an iWeb problem.
