Need to run SQL in BQY

Hi All,
I have a client where he is using Custom SQL in the query section. The following SQL statement retrieves the results at the database side without any issues. But the same when used in the IR studio Custom SQL it is throwing errors like "invalid identifier".
select a.contract_id, a.contract_cd, a.original_contract_eff_dt,
bb.contract_id AS bb_contract_id,
bb.contract_cd AS bb_contract_cd,
bb.original_contract_eff_dt AS bb_original_contract_eff_dt
from wlp_mart.l_contract a
INNER JOIN wlp_mart.l_event b
ON a.event_id = b.event_id
LEFT OUTER JOIN wlp_mart.l_contract bb
ON a.contract_id = bb.contract_id
and nvl(bb.original_contract_eff_dt,sysdate) >= to_date('20070101','yyyymmdd')
and nvl(bb.original_contract_eff_dt,sysdate) < to_date('20080501','yyyymmdd')
and nvl(bb.contract_cancel_reason_cd,'x') != 'RB080815'
where a.original_contract_eff_dt >= to_date('20070101','yyyymmdd')
and a.original_contract_eff_dt < to_date('20080501','yyyymmdd')
and b.brand_id = 'BCA'
and a.contract_cancel_reason_cd = 'RB080815'
and b.business_unit = 'INDIVIDUAL'
and b.media_type in ('CARRIER ROUTE','DIRECT MAIL','DRTV','INSERT MEDIA','INTERNET ADVERTISING','INTERNET PURCHASED LEADS');
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Sree

Again, I caution against relying on the Import SQL. You will not be able to modify the SQL String once it is imported.
If you want to use the View -> CustomSQL then you will need to see what IR is setting the table Aliases as and adjust your SQL String appropriately.
If you want to use code to change values i.e. the dates then you can work with the ObjectModel and change the SQL string in the CustomSQL via JavaScript.
Hope this is helpful

  • Need to run SQL jobs with Non Sys-Admin account

    Hi Everyone,
    We've recently asked to switch our SQL service account from an account having sysadmin permissions to a non sys-admin account. Could you please give us any inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance. :)

    It's a little difficult to understand what you are talking about. First you say:
    We've recently asked to switch our SQL service account from an account having sysadmin permissions to a non sys-admin account. Could you please give us any inputs on this.
    No, the service account for SQL Server should not be a Windows administrator. It should be a standard Windows account. When you enter this account in SQL Server Configuration Manager, SSCM will assign the required permissions. You should then also assign
    the permissions "Lock pages in memory" and "Perform volume maintenance tasks".
    But then you start to talk about proxies and whatnots, and this is where you lose me entirely. Could you clarify what you are talking about?

  • Do I still need to run the catupgrd.sql??

    Hi
    I would like if I install the Oracle in the following procedure, do I still need to run the catupgrd.sql.
    1. Install Oracle 10.2.0.1 software only( i.e. without create any database instance)
    2. Install Oracle 10.2.0.2 patch
    3. Create an Oracle Instance using DBCA
    Do I still need to run the catupgrd.sql for the newly created database instance?
    Denis

    Do I still need to run the catupgrd.sql for the newly created database instance?No, you don't. Because database was created on already patched software.

  • Do we need to run catbundle.sql for ANY new db we create after CPU's?

    We're in the middle of reviewing the JAN2009CPU readme, and found a curiosity in the patch notes.
    - Our platform is Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition on Solaris 10 64-bit.
    In the Post-Patch instructions for the CPU, we see the following clause
    {color:#3366ff} ...
    3.3.5, "Post Installation Instructions for New and Upgraded Databases"
    These instructions are for both non-RAC environments and RAC environments
    when a database is created or upgraded after the installation of CPUJan2009.
    You must execute the steps in Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files
    into the Database"" and Section 3.3.2.2, "Recompiling Views in the Database"
    for *any new database that was created* by any of the following methods:
    - Using DBCA (Database Configuration Assistant) to select a sample database (General, Data Warehouse, Transaction Processing)
    - Using a script that was created by DBCA that creates a database from a sample database
    - Cloning a database that was created by either of the two preceding methods,
    and if Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files into the Database"
    was not executed after CPUJan2009 was applied.
    Upgraded databases require no post-installation steps to be executed.
    {color}
    I don't understand -- does this mean we have to do the following any time
    we create a new database from now on?
    - run dbca
    {color:#ff0000} - run '@?/rdbms/admin/catbundle.sql cpu apply'
    - check $ORACLE_HOME/cfttoollogs/catbundle/catbundle_CPU_&lt;SID&gt;_APPLY_&lt;TimeStamp&gt;.log for errors
    - run '@?/cpu/view_recompile/view_recompile_jan2008cpu'{color}
    I would have thought that the new SQL scripts under $ORACLE_HOME are already
    upgraded, so that we do not *have* to do any extra work on top of simply running
    dbca to create a new DB.
    I see a similar phrase in the CPU2008JUL (patch 7150470):
    {color:#0000ff} "You must execute the steps in this section (Section 3.3.2.1,
    "Loading Modified .sql Files into the Database") for any new database you create
    or any database upgraded to this release since the CPUJul2008 patch was applied."
    {color}
    .. AND CPU2008OCT (patch 7375644):
    {color:#0000ff} You must execute the steps ... for any new database you create or
    any database upgraded to this release since the CPUOct2008 patch was applied.
    {color}
    .. but the April 2008 CPU (patch 6864068) doesn't have these clauses.
    Can anybody clarify this issue? Have you created DB's after the JAN2009 CPU
    and not run the catbundle.sql, had any problems?

    Edited by: lrp on Feb 4, 2009 2:45 PMIt's pretty explicit:
    *You must execute the steps* in Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files
    into the Database"" and Section 3.3.2.2, "Recompiling Views in the Database"
    for any new database that was created <b><i><u>by any of the following methods</u></i></b>:

    and if Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files into the Database"
    was not executed after CPUJan2009 was applied.
    So, if you create a database by any of the explicitly listed methods (all of which are creating a database from a backup that my have been made of a database that was not patched to that level) then you need to run the scripts. If you create a database by some other method (about all that is left is a command line CREATE DATABASE) then part of that creation will necessarily include running the necessary cat* scripts, which will already be at the correct level.

  • Need help to run sql loader from Form6i

    Hi All,
    I have some problem with the sql loader running from form 6i.
    I have done following steps for that.
    1. have created bat file to run sql loader.
    2.Alos created ctl and txt files inside the same folder.
    In the form , in button press i have written below code
    HOST('cmd /c C:\load1.bat > C:\output.txt');
    But it is giving error as -
    "Unable to open Load1.ctl."
    but i have run that bat files from command prompt ; and it is running fine.
    I guess probably it is not getting the correct path.
    Will pls help me, wt exacly I'm doing wrong?
    Rg,
    Subir

    Hi Francois,
    Thanks for reply.
    It is not a problem with the batch files. Coz, I just able to run batch files, but that is not correct solution.
    Once the host command id firing, that time it is going to path -
    "c:\orant\Form60\"
    And in this path it searching for that batch files and all the require files; but the require files are present in some different folder. So i think I need to change the path as well, but that I'm unable to do.
    To resolve the problem, I have copied all the files in "c:\orant\Form60\" folder, and then it is working.
    So I think I need to changed the path, so how to change the path. If I able to change the path I think it will worked. How to change the path?
    Best Rg,

    Hi evnafets,
    Wow, very helpful information, great insight into working of Eclipse. Thanks a lot.

    {color:#0000ff}</Context>{color}As usual when running application in local Tomcat server of Eclipse, this data source works fine. But when I run the application on Tomcat, by starting Sysdeo plugin from Eclipse, the DBTest.xml file created in C:\Tomcat 6.0\conf\Catalina\localhost has the context entry as<Context path="/DBTest" reloadable="true" docBase="E:\Deepa\workspace\DBTest\WebContent" workDir="E:\Deepa\workspace\DBTest\work">

  • Problem running SQL PLUS in Oracle 8i and 9i on Windows XP

    I've tried installing both Oracle 8.17 Personal Edition and also 9i in Windows XP Professional (each on a different occassion). I have run into the same problem each time. The installation itself goes fine in both cases, but when I run SQL PLUS, the Log On screen appears for 1-2 seconds then whole thing just closes automatically, so I can't ever access that application which is the only thing I need to work with. Any ideas on what's going wrong? Thanks.

    Patrick,
    Well a few things. Did you try TNSPING to see if the listener is up? If it's ok, can you connect with FREE toad? Download Oracle OEM and install that (the SQL net and sql plus portions). If you can't get tnsping to work, sqlplus isn't going too either. I don't know why the sqplus is actually shutting down, but I'm guessing the TNS NAMES entry isnt there (in the tnsnames.ora file). If the tnsnames entry is there then tnsping should work. Get tnsping to work first.
    Tyler.

  • [Forum FAQ] Reporting Service Point cannot be installed on a Site System Server running SQL Server 2012 SP1

    Symptom: When you install Reporting Service Point role on a Site System Server running SQL Server
    2012 SP1, you may encounter an issue that the Reporting Service Point role cannot be installed. The error log “srsrpMSI.log” and “srsrpsetup.log” may throw the error as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.
    03:32:03:764]:
    MainEngineThread is returning 1618
    Figure 1: Error -1
    <03/03/14 03:32:03>
    srsrp.msi exited with return code: 1618
    Figure 2: Error -2
    Reason: All the two logs indicate an error return code 1618. From the KB below you may know what
    the return code means.
    ERROR_INSTALL_ALREADY RUNNING
    1618
    Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.
    KB link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290158 “it is related to an Office Suite KB, anyway, the MSI return code is the same meaning”
    You can look into Resource Manager and Event Viewer to find the other currently running MSI installation. You may get a warning in Event Log that means the MSI wants to install a SQL Server
    related Component (Figure 3). The Resource Manager confirms this (Figure 4).
    Event Log:
    Event ID: 1004
    Source: Msinstaller
    Level: Warning
    Detection of product '{A7037EB2-F953-4B12-B843-195F4D988DA1}',
    feature 'SQL_Tools_ANS', component '{0CECE655-2A0F-4593-AF4B-EFC31D622982}' failed.  The resource '' does not exist.
    Figure 3: Event Log
    Figure 4: Resource Manager
    Resolution: the error is exactly what the following KB describes.

    After we resolve the SQL Server 2012 issue, the Reporting Service Role is installed successfully.

    This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
    ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
    Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
    If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

    thanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
    also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
    can there be any other work around to this?
    thanks,

  • Password keystrokes won't register in Run SQL Command

    I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I searched but I couldn't find this particular problem. I'm new to Oracle and I'm trying to install it on my computer. I'm used to using the Enterprise Edition that is available at school, so the Express Edition seems so much different.
    In case it is important, I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit). When I go to Start > All Programs > Oracle Database 10g Express Edition > Run SQL Command Line, I enter "connect", then it prompts me for a username. I enter "SYSDBA", then it asks me for a password and my keystrokes are not recognized. I tried to just go ahead and enter the password I created when I installed and press ENTER but that didn't work.
    I tried going to the Database Homepage, and I can log in with SYSTEM and my password, but my SQL commands and scripts (from school, that work with the Enterprise Edition) don't work. I get this pop-up window with the title "Enter Bind Variables" and the page itself has a SUBMIT button, but there is nothing else there.
    I'm totally lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    sysdba is a privilege, not a user. SYS and SYSTEM users have the DBA role privileges, SYS owns the catalog (database, tables, datafile, user and object info, all the metadata).
    The sys and system users can manipulate just about anything in the instance, using a connect sys as sysdba grants the ability to do a few more management tasks (i.e. shut down the database). Its best to only use those database logins when they're really needed (backups, startups, etc) and create other database users for all the other stuff. A quick way to get started is
    connect sys as sysdba; -- or connect / as sysdba;
    create user joe identified by joepasswd;
    grant resource to joe;
    grant connect to joe;
    grant create session to joeThe resource privilege is a quick way to get all the rights needed to create tables, indexes, procedures. There are a couple of rights in resource that most admins don't like to hand out to just anyone but it'll get the joe database user rolling.
    Now on to that "bind variables" dialog, the script that is running needs some input, take a look at the .sql file and there's probably an ampersand in there somewhere- maybe it wants a user name name, just have to figure out what it wants.
    And sqlplus does not echo characters typed in at the password prompt, that's normal.

  • Run sql statements in PL/Sql Developer without installing Oracle database?

    Hi all,
    I wish to ask is there any possibility to run Run sql statements in PL/Sql Developer without installing Oracle database?
    Regards.

    Hello Jimmy,
    this is the forum for the tool SQL Developer and, as the title says, *(Not for general SQL/PLSQL questions)*.
    PL/Sql Developer is not an Oracle tool, but from allound allroundautomations.
    And you need access to a database to run SQL statements. This does not need to be one installed by yourself.
