Need your suggestions - how to display large file in ASCII and HEX
Hello,
I want to create an application which can read in a large file and switch between displaying ASCII and HEX (formatted a particular way). There are two problems here that I'm not quite sure how to solve.
1. How to switch dynamically between ASCII and HEX. Should the HEX formatter be in the document of the JTextArea(or equivalent), or somewhere in the view? If it's in the view then where? I'd rather not read in the file more than once.
2. How to do some kind of paging scheme for huge files. I'd like to read in part of the file and display it, then when the user scrolls to another area, read in that part of the file.
Thanks!
Jeff

d in the file more than once.You can iterate over all the characters in the String using String.charAt, cast the chars to ints, and call Integer.toHexValue(...)

does anyone know what settting need to change ? I have alreadt unticked the check box for "Display in Browser" and re-started IE ,but i still shows the PDF in IE.

You need to use DHTML in the swf-wrapper HTML file, usually a
division wrapped iFrame, and load the PDF into the iFrame as an
overlay to the Flash. -
How to display Doc file format in the JEditPane?
At this time , JEditPane supports RTF and HTML file format ,but
Could anyone tell me how to display DOC file format using JEditPane
or other JTextComponents?
Thx a lot!
CatonHi,
there is no support for doc files (M$ Word?) in Java. You would have to create your own classes for that eventually subclassing JEditorPane, EditorKit, Document etc. As well you'd need your own reader for the doc format.
The problem I see with that however is that there is nothing such as thedoc file format. Microsoft just saves anything produced by MS Word into files ending with .doc. But, if there is anything such as a .doc file format, it changes more often than the weather in April.

How to display XSL file to ASPX in dreamweaver
Hi,
Just wondering how to display XSL file in ASPX page?
I normally do it in ASP page by using server behaviour XSLT transformation and bind it to ASP page and this works very well.
Now I am trying to use the same method and using ASPX page this time but this time there is no option from server behaviour where I can bind it to my ASPX.
Can someone help or perhaps let me know where I can find the information how to do it?
Thanks,
Rush OYou mean you want to see the XML source?
You need to replace the characters '<' and '&' with corresponding entities '<' and '&'. You can use replaceAll, but do the ampersands first.
Then I suggest you probably want to put them in a <PRE> block. -
JTextArea displaying large files
Simple, much talked about question.
I searched for an answer, but was not satisfied.
I am trying to display larger files in a JTextArea, say 20-30MB each.
What is the fastest way to read, and then to write in into the JTextArea.
Currently I am using a BufferedReader, and readline, and append about 3000 lines to a StringBuffer, and then append every 300 lines to the text area unitl EOF.
It takes the files about 60-70 secs to load on a 1ghz 512MB Win machine.
Which is a long times, especially because requirements have us on some 8 year Sun boxes.
Questions are........fastest way to read and display.
I thought about overiding the text area's document for random access, but would hope for a simplier answer since this requirement is not high on the users list.
Am hoping that someone can just post an example since they solved this problem a long time ago.I have done it!
The only problem with using a Reader is that you load everything into memory...so if you have a file larger than your -Xmx you are screwed.
I used a combination of a JTextArea, JScrollBar and a RandomAccessFile. First I disabled the verticle scrollbar in the JTextArea. I then placed my JScrollBar next to it so it looks like it's the JTextArea's. My JScrollBars min and max values are 0 and RandomAccessFile.length()... Thus making the scrollbar byte based. I then set the scroll increment to the average number of bytes per line. And finally add a listener to the scrollbar that listens for changes... Essentially I only read a small portion of the file, and when you scroll, it reads the next part, rounding to the nearest endline. When you scroll backwards, it reads backwards...unlike a Reader. There are many things that need to be accounted for since it is not line-based but byte-based, or if the filesize changes. For my needs, it does exactly what I need it to, reads large files quickly. Oh I also disabled word wrap. I'm sure you could think of some way to incorperate this idea to your needs. -

I have over 200 hours of HD video on 5 different TB Thunderbolt GRaid hard drives. I need to reorganize my projects, moving large files from one drive to another. Advice?
Do some testing to get your method working right with some less than important footage.
Copy/paste files where you want then.
Use the FCE Reconnect feature to tell FCE where the newly copied files reside.
Make sure the new location and files are working as expected with your Projects.
Delete the original files if no longer required.

How to upload large file with http via post
Hi guys,
Does anybody know how to upload large file (>100 MB) use applet to servlet with http via post method? Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Mark.Hi SuckRatE
Thanks for your reply. Could you give me some client side code to upload a large file. I use URL to connect to server. It throws out of memory exception. The part of client code is below:
// connect to the servlet
URL theServlet = new URL(servletLocation);
URLConnection servletConnection = theServlet.openConnection();
// inform the connection that we will send output and accept input
servletConnection.setDoInput(true);
servletConnection.setDoOutput(true);
// Don't used a cached version of URL connection.
servletConnection.setUseCaches (false);
servletConnection.setDefaultUseCaches(false);
// Specify the content type that we will send text data
servletConnection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type",
+"application/octet-stream");
// send the user string to the servlet.
OutputStream outStream = servletConnection.getOutputStream();
FileInputStream filein = new FileInputStream(largeFile);
//BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader
+(servletConnection.getInputStream()));
//System.out.println("tempCurrent = "+in.readLine());
byte abyte[] = new byte[2048];
int cnt = 0;
while((cnt = filein.read(abyte)) > 0)
outStream.write(abyte, 0, cnt);
filein.close();
outStream.flush();
outStream.close();

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi,
I'm not a tuning expert but I can suggest you to post your request according to this template:
Thread: HOW TO: Post a SQL statement tuning request - template posting
HOW TO: Post a SQL statement tuning request - template posting
Then:
a) you should posting a code which is easy to read. What about formatting? Your code had to be fixed in a couple of lines.
b) You could simplify your code using the with statement. This has nothing to do with the tuning but it will help the readability of the query.
Check it below:

I hope I did not miss anything while reformatting the code. I could not test it not having the proper tables.
As I said before I'm not a tuning expert nor I pretend to be but I see this:
1) Table W_PERSON_D is read in full scan. Any possibility of using indexes?
2) Tables W_SALES_D, W_DATE_D, ACTIVITY_F and W_ORG_D have TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID which definitely is not fast.
You should provide additional information for tuning your query checking the post I mentioned previously.

How to transfer large files(1GB) to pc
How to transfer large files(1GB) to pc
Or possibly alternatively, and if really desperate, upload it to file distribution service like Fileserve or Rapidshare and then download it from the other machine (and then delete the upload). Many of these services have a free mode although they may have size limitations and they certainly throttle the download speed down (Rapidshare may be one of the worse, Fileserve one of the best). Personally I never tried something the size of 3GB. What I do see is that stuff that large is generally broken up into multiple files to get around the size limitations and to be glued together when all the parts are downloaded.
Just throwing this "out there" as an alternative but as I said, you probably would need to really be desparate to go this route -
Dear everyone
I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.
I read a european commission document explaining that
http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/support/sep_usermanual.pdf
If Safari does not display pdf forms in the browser window, uninstall all older versions of Adobe Reader and download the most recent one. First close Safari and then install Reader. Launch Safari and you ought to be able to open the pdf files inside the Safari window. If you install Adobe Reader 10.1.x without first closing Safari, Safari will not display the pdf file inside its browser window until it is re-launched. For further help, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-safari-plug-acrobat-x.html
I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat
but when I open a web page that I need to allow me to display and modify PDF files it is not working.
I checked the following web page
Troubleshoot Safari plug-in | Acrobat X, Reader X
that is recommending the following:
The AdobePDFViewer plug-in is used to display PDF files in Safari using Acrobat and Reader.
This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?
Best regards
