Needing to migrate/upgrade NSM 3.02.76 from OES2 to OES11

Currently running on OES2 SP2a server. NSM version 3.0.2.76
Need to upgrade to new server. New server is OES11 SP1. Also would like to upgrade to latest NSM version.
Do I need to upgrade in place now and then move to new server? Can OES2 SP2a even run NSM 3.1?
Looked at documentation some, but don't see clear process on moving NSM to new server.
I didn't find any tips in the Discussion forum.
You've given me tips in the past and they have always worked great.
Can you point me to documentation and give best practices in making this upgrade and change.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Lin

For the benefit of others doing the same, I'd migrate then upgrade. Here's how I migrated Storage Manager Engine from OES2 to OES11:
1 - Unload old Engine and disable from starting on server boot.
2 - Install NSM Engine on new server, open firewall port 3009, and configure the engine using nsmengine-config, but don't start the engine.
3 - On the new server, rename /var/opt/novell/storagemanager/engine/data to data-original
4 - Copy /var/opt/novell/storagemanager/engine/data from old server to new server, then fire-up the new Engine
5 - Run NSMAdmin against the new server and next your way through the wizard. I had to create a new NSMProxy user, but you can use the existing NSMAdmins group.
6 - Reconfigure Event and Agent servers to point to the new Engine.

Anthony

    Hi All,
We need to migrate Shared services users and groups from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2 version. Any help would be appreciated. Can we use CSS import export utility?
    Thanks in advance!!

Hi John, In my another environment I have to migrate the users and groups from Hyperion HSS 11.1.1.2 to Hyperion shared services 11.1.2.2. I am using LCM for that, when I export the users and gropus from 11.1.1.2, it exports fine but when i import it to my 11.1.2.2 using LCM, I am getting the below errors.

  • Need help migrating photos (and hopefully album books) from iphoto6 to iPhoto '11

hello all and thanks in advance for your help !
Just purchased a new 21.5' iMac on Friday, and have been successfully moving data etc from my existing (5-year old) iMac running OS X (10.6.8) to my new iMac using an ethernet connection.
I now need to move our 12,000 photos from the old iMac, and it currently has iPhoto 6 (ver 6.0.6 (322)) on it. My wife created three large "album books" which we have not been able to order because we have iPhoto 6, and the books are no longer supported on iPhoto6. I didn't upgrade that computer to iPhone 9x which I believe does allow books because I knew we were going to get the new iMac.
So my question : is it possible to migrate the photos as well as the existing folders, albums, and especially the BOOKS to our new iMac ??  My wife REALLY doesn't want to recreate three years' worth of books !
Thanks in advance for your replies - Jeff

For the record - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
Book have changed a lot since iPhoto 6 and may not convert well though

  • Need info on Upgrade / Conversion Steps for PO from 11.0.3 to  11.5.10

Any info on the steps required to do the Upgrade / Conversion for PO from 11.0.3 to 11.5.10 will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Do you just want to convert PO's or all open items such as AP invoices etc.? If you are just talking PO information, there is an interface table available in 11.5.10 that was not available in 11.0.3 to convert PO information. Please look at the Open Interface Manual for Manufacturing to get details.

  • Migration/upgrade of cm:getNode tag from 8.1.5 to 9.2

    In BEA 8.1.5, we have been using the <cm:getNode> tag as <cm:getNode useCache="true" cacheScope="page" path="<%=ContentManager.getContentPath(\"Login/headerText\",request)%>" id="headerText" />.
In 9.2, path attribute in the above statement is not resolved properly .
Only way we were able to resolve it was to move the java statement out of the path attribute and pass a string to it as shwon below.
    <% String pathAttribute = ContentManager.getContentPath("Login/headerText",request); %>
    <cm:getNode useCache="true" cacheScope="page" path="<%=pathAttribute%>" id="headerText" />
Since we have many <cm:getNode> tag in our code base, it will be time consuming to resolve every instance of the tag.
Is there any easy way to resolve this issue? Thanks.

    Hi Edward,
This may be actually just be display issue in Eclipse due to the \" characters in the path attribute; does the JSP correctly evaluate at runtime?
If this is true, to work around the display issue, you could consider minor modifications to the JSP so instead of using:
    <cm:getNode path="<%=ContentManager.getContentPath(\"Login/headerText\",request)%>" />
    you might consider using
    <cm:getNode path='<%=ContentManager.getContentPath("Login/headerText",request)%>'/>

Do I need to upgrade GW first to SP1 or OES2 to OES11 SP1

  • Migration from Oes2 32 bit to Oes11 64

Realized my groupwise mta/gwia/webaccess is running on a 32bit Oes2 machine. Obviously cant "upgrade" that to Oes11.. so creating a new pre-migration server for it.
Straight forward? Plan on using the Transfer ID wizard to accomplish this. but then expect I need to re-install groupwise modules after. Do I need to use the groupwise migration utility as well?

    Hi Joe,
We're in the process of doing the above (among other things)
    You have two choices:
    OES2 SP3 -> OES11/SP1 migration
    or
the above, but WITH ID Transfer.
It's entirely up to you if you want to keep the same servername/IP.
    We chose the ID transfer.
Groupwise is VERY straight forward to go from linux to linux, IMO
    However:
While we have had issues using the Novell Client for Linux (included in OES11) to migrate (via dbcopy), we have NOT had issues using the ncpmount with dbcopy. However, other people have had issues OES2 -> OES11 with ncpcmount.
There were some other intracacies with the ID transfer when going from OES2 to OES11 that I'm in the process of documenting:
    a) DHCP/DNS objects/migrations are a bit odd because you'll end up with a DHCP object with the "temporary" servername of the OES11 server.
    b) You'll end up with the temporary server name of the OES11 server for the OESCommonPRoxy user if you're using it. I'm currently talking to the developers to discuss a way to fix/resolve that.
However, if all you have is an OES2 server that JUST runs Gwise, then it's fairly straightforward. No need to change the case since it was already done. You'll just have to remember to copy over your .poa/.mta and any other startup files and reinstall the GW agents AFTER the ID Transfer.
    I'm paraphrasing here, of course.
I'm parially through scrubbing my OES11 SP1 migration guide for incriminating IP's, etc. so hopefully I"ll have something on cool solutions next week.

  • Need help regarding upgrading Oracle 10g Forms to Oracle 11g Fusion Middlew

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a workshop on a VM for showing the migration / upgrading of Oracle Forms 10g to Oracle 11g FMW using the Upgrade Assistant tool available in <ORACLE_HOME>/bin/ua.bat.
As per my understanding of pre-requisites:
    1)     I need to install Oracle SOA Suite 10g on my VM.
    2)     I also need to install Oracle SOA Suite 11g on my VM.
    3)     I need to install Oracle Forms/Reports Services 10g on my Oracle SOA Suite 10g installation.
    4)     I need to run Oracle Forms/reports installer on my Oracle SOA Suite 11g installation.
    5)     I need to run upgrade assistant tool on my VM to upgrade my form from source(Oracle SOA Suite 10g) to destination(Oracle SOA Suite 11g). Is it mandatory for this migration that I should have Oracle SOA Suite 10g and Oracle SOA Suite 11g on the same system ?
Having all these software installed on one VM would be difficult. So just wanted to check can I avoid any software to install on VM ?
If there is any alternative suggestion then please let me know.
    Regards,

What do you want to do with the SOA-suite? At least for Froms10G is is not necessary.

  • Iphoto library needs to be upgraded?

I replaced my hard drive, reinstalled 10.6, and used migration assistant to restore from Time Machine (and will never do that again). iPhoto itself works fine (when the library is set to be the 'new' empty library), but when I try to access my old iPhoto library, I get the message:
"The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. . . "
If I click 'upgrade' it says "iphoto was unable to open this library" then closes.
I had 10.6 on my old hard drive, and 10.6 on my new one. Nothing should be different. I can see the individual photos by going to 'show package contents.'
    Thank you!

At this stage you do not have an iPhoto library - an iPhoto library is a special folder (called a package) that contains many elements - original photos, previews of modified photos, thumbnails and files describing to iPhoto what is there, what edits have been made, how to connect the dots so to speak - simply having a package named iPhoto library is not an iPhoto library and to get an iPhoto library from a Time machine Backup you have to use TM to restore the library - it is the only way to properly collect all of the correct elements and put the puzzle back together
    Your only alternatives are
1 - to use TM to restore the library (launch TM and go to the proper time, select the Photo library and click restore
    or
2 - go into the TM backup and find all of your original photos and copy them out and then create a new iPhoto library using iPhoto and importing the original photos

  • Webex Migration & Upgrade 1.5 to 2.0

    Hello,
We have an old UCS for Webex components. It has Esxi 5.1 Webex Meeting server 1.5, &  vCenter Server on it .
We have got new UCS box. We installed Esxi 5.5, Webex Meeting Server 2.0 ( using cisco-webex-meetings-server-2.0.1.107.B-AE.ova file) & vCenter Server on it.
    We don't have central storage.
We need to migrate database from Webex 1.5 to Webex 2.0.
I have gone through webex administration guide, it says it has to be under same vCenter to migrate database Attaching an Existing VMDK File to a New Virtual Machine
In my case i have different vCenter Server for both CWMS & i dont have shared/central storage.
How should i proceed to migrate the database from version 1.5 to 2.0 or how can i bring both Webex Servers under same vCentre ?
Second question, Is the CWMS upgrade ova file same as installation file cisco-webex-meetings-server-2.0.1.107.B-AE.ova or its different ?
    Regards,

    Hi,
Are you planning an upgrade on the same hardware or a different hardware (not sure if your system is related at all to the anis_cisco's system)?
If you are going to use new/different hardware for CWMS 2.0 setup, you will have to use Manual Upgrade process.
If you are using the same hardware where your CWMS 1.5 resides, then you can do either Automatic or Manual upgrade. If you plan to do Manual Upgrade, then on the Original 1.5 System you should go to Upgrade > Major Upgrade process which will back the system up, put it in Maintenance Mode, and then ask you to gracefully power off all the VMs (Power > Shut Down Guest in vCenter). Once your 1.5 system is down, you deploy all CWMS 2.0 VMs like a brand new system and follow the instructions noted here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/collaboration/CWMS/2_0/Administration_Guide/Administration_Guide_chapter_01010.html#reference_33BF1FFC8C334EACA4CBA2D880E3F206   Pay special attention to STEP 7 and instruction on how to configure the VM so they don't start after deployment. You would use all the same network parameters and hostnames as the original system (and since your original 1.5 system is powered off, there is no IP/hostname conflicts). Finally, once all the VMs are deployed before you power them on, you perform copying of VMDK file per instructions included in the link above and then you power ON all the VMs and your 2.0 system will come up and all the data should be there.
If you are going to use the same hardware and opt for the Automatic upgrade, then you need to ensure you follow all the prerequisites listed here (disk space, NTP settings, vCenter being accessible via FQDN and not only IP address, assign dedicated temporary IP address and hostname for 2.0 Admin Upgrade VM, and if you have IRP in DMZ, make sure that this new IP address and hostname is allowed the same access rules as the 1.5 Admin VM IP address and hostname have, finally, make sure that vSwitch configuration on ESXi host is Standard vSwitch and not Distributed vSwitch; please make sure to read all prerequisites before you start):
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/collaboration/CWMS/2_0/Administration_Guide/Administration_Guide_chapter_01010.html#concept_9552D5BDF2464C0DB4DA8EA250910651
Per instructions, you will see that while your CWMS 1.5 system is up and running, you will deploy 2.0 Admin Upgrade VM on the same ESXi host where primary 1.5 Admin VM is located. During the deployment you will assign the temporary IP and hostname to this new 2.0 Admin Upgrade VM. Your 1.5 system should be up and running through most of the deployment process, as your 2.0 Admin Upgrade VM will have to access this system (the wizard will guide you). Once all the information is pulled from 1.5 system, the upgrade process will notify you at what point you should put 1.5 system in maintenance and power off the VMs. At that time, the system will deploy all the 2.0 VMs automatically and copy the data. At the first full boot process of 2.0 system, all the original IP addresses and hostnames will be pulled to the new system, and temporary IP/hostname will be discarded. At this time, your 1.5 system is down, and your 2.0 system is up and hence there is no IP conflicts. In the end, once you verified your 2.0 system is fine and upgrade is completed successfully, you can delete 1.5 system. If something goes wrong during the upgrade process, all you need to do is power down 2.0 VMs, and power on 1.5 VMs and the system will come back up as it was before the upgrade. There are no alterations being done to the original system, so you mustn't take any snapshots on the original system before the upgrade. Just let it be.
I hope you will find this advice useful, but still make sure to read the official guide for detailed steps.
    Kind regards,
    -Dejan

  • Recommended Order of UC Applications Migration/Upgrade

    Hello Experts,
I am in need of your guidance. I need to migrate 3 UC applications from MCS servers to BE6K:
    CUCM 8.0.3 to CUCM 10.0.
Unity 8.0.(3.1) to Unity Connection 10.0
    UCCX 7.0.2 to UCCX 10.0
In what order should I migrate/upgrade the applications that will have the least impact on users?
    Thank you,
    Randy

    Hello Jaime,
I've already managed to create a virtual instance of our CUCM 8.0.3 and I've installed the COP file and "ciscocm.version3-keys.cop.sgn" to be able to do a direct upgrade to CUCM 10.5 (I've decided to go to the most recent version). Now I'm preparing for the migrate/upgrade of Unity and UCCX.
Based on what I've read so far, my plan of action is to:
    1.  In my first maintenance window, I will migrate Unity 8.0.(3.1) to Unity Connection 10.0 since it'll still work with our current CUCM (which is 8.0.3) according to http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/compatibility/matrix/cucsccpmtx.pdf.
    2. In my next maintenance window, I will migrate/upgrade CUCM 8.0.3 to CUCM 10.5 and UCCX 7.0.2 to UCCX 9.0(2) on the same maintenance window. UCCX 9.0(2) is compatible with CUCM 10.5 according to http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_CCX_Software_Compatibility_Matrix_for_9.0(2).  If all is well after the migrate/upgrade to UCCX 9.0(2), I will perform an upgrade to UCCX 10.0.
In your professional opinion, does this look like a sound plan to you? Is this a doable approach? Is there any surprise I should watch out for?
    Thank you for your time,
    Randy

  • OES2 to OES11 (upgrade or migrate?)

GW 2012 happily working on OES 2 SP3
Obviously there is a need to upgrade to OES 11
What is easier, upgrade with bootable media or migration?
If migration how does one move GW stuff to new server?

No, no update to the GW SP1 code is needed, you are already running 2012 code. So there are no upgrade steps here for GroupWise, just a move.

Yes, that's about it.... but also, in my setups the OES2 OS disk is a separate disk from the data disk.
After first removing the original OES2 from the tree, the OES11 disk gets attached and set as first boot disk, if the OES2 OS disk is seperate... I leave it out of the new configuration.
Then start the OES11 server - which has all the needed elements but has not been configured yet (in other words: has not been added to the tree), set server name and ip equal to the one used for the OES2 server and configure eDir and NSS services. (I always first configure eDir and NSS services... make sure that's working, and then add any other OES services... *if needed*).
As the GroupWise install stuff and agents are already in there, all that is needed is to copy the GroupWise data to a new volume (or reuse the original volume, which saves the time needed to copy over the files), reconfigure the agents as needed and start them up.
Path changes on the Linux server (like when moving the GroupWise data from an ext3 mounted partition to an NSS volume, which by default has it's mount in /media/nss/..), that can easily be handled by using a symlink (symbolic link) to have the old "path" point to the new one on the NSS volume (e.g. #ln -a [/oldpath] [/media/nss/[NSS volume]/newpath]).
This is usually not needed, as you will be supplying the new agent dib paths during configuration of them anyway. It can ease things though when old paths are causing issues with some bits.
Hope that clarifies a little more.
    Cheers,
    Willem

  • HT201250 I am very frustrated. New to iMac products. Just bought a 27" iMac two days ago. Received no manual, no booklet with ID registration number, etc. Need help migrating PC to iMac. How do I get in touch?

Need help migrating pc to imac. Do not have manual. Trying to get infornation online, but, cannot get an answer.
I have downloaded pc migration assistant to pc windows 8 pro. Was able to get imac to finally give me "the number"
Did the same with pc received number once, not same as imac. Pop up window with info dissappers and cannot recover
What am I doing wrong? Paid extra for extended support package and it took hours to finally get it registered and approved.
However, no help. Yikes, I feel like a make another great mistake!

First: If you purchased AppleCare you should call back at 1-800-APL-CARE and ask for further assistance.  You'll want to learn how to retrieve your operating system version and your IMac's serial number as you'll need these for when you call AppleCare:
Click on the Black Apple in the top left hand corner of your Imac's physical monitor
Click on About this Mac from the drop down menu
Below the silver Apple and "OS X" it will say "Version 10.x.x"  (If this number is not 10.8.4, run Software Update by hitting the button marked "Software Update")
Click on this number twice in a row.  This is your machine's serial number.  (zeros can be used; the letter "O" is never used).
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1349 for details how to find serial numbers on Apple products
If you have an Apple ID (you can create one at appleid.apple.com), you can login to supportprofile.apple.com, register an Apple product, and sign up for VoicePass, which, if you give your product a name e.g. Maria's Imac, you can speak that over the phone and skip having to give the serial number when you call.
If you have an Apple ID, you can also call AppleCare and ask them to activate VoicePass.
This is the link for your tech specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP667
This is the link for your quick start guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/imac_late2012_quickstart.pdf
This is the link for important product information: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/imac_late2012_quickstart.pdf
Second: this is an educated guess: Your new Imac and your PC need to be either on the same wifi network or you need to connect them physically with an Ethernet cable (available at Radio Shack, Wal Mart, etc).  My guess is that they are not, and so your IMac and PC are not talking to each other.  That might be why you are seeing a different code on the PC.
Time Machine would not be relevant to your issue.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796 is the link to relevant instructions, however it left out some housekeeping you should do on your Imac before you begin a migration
Run Software Update on the IMac to confirm that the latest updates are installed.
On the IMac, make sure that you have the latest versions of any third-party software.
On the source Mac, open System Preferences, click Sharing, and make sure there is a name in the Computer Name field.
Do not let either computer go to sleep while you are attempting to migrate. To disable sleep on the IMac
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
Choose Energy Saver from the View menu.
Adjust the "Computer sleep:" slider to Never. (Change this back after the migration is done).
You can adjust "Display Sleep" to a few minutes - this won't affect the migration
Uncheck the box if checked next to "Put Hard Disks to sleep when possible"
I don't know Windows 8 but this link looks promising as to how to disable sleep: http://techmell.net/how-to/disable-enable-sleep-mode-hibernate-windows-8/
Once you've done this, either connect both Mac and PC to the same wifi network and surf the web with each to confirm that connection is working - or connect them to each other with an Ethernet cable.
Then relaunch Migration Assistant on your Imac and your PC, and follow the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796 starting with your IMac, or call AppleCare back.
Understand that if you have further issues, you'll need to help AppleCare help you by:
walking them through the steps you've taken in Migration Assistant
letting them guide you as they isolate the issue to either:
    The Imac's software
    The IMac's hardware
    The PC's software
    The PC's hardware
Firewall settings (maybe - especially if 3rd party firewalls are installed)
    The wifi connection, if used
    The ethernet connection, if used
I think the issue is likely what I guessed, or it's a software issue.
To learn more about your new Mac, I recommend this link: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/intel/
    And this book: http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0789749890
I am a technical support professional who troubleshoots Macs all day long.  I do this for a living.  The book above is the most accurate, and easy to understand book I've seen with respect to using Mountain Lion and its various applications.  It's for a MacBook but the focus is on the software which is why I recommend it.
Don't feel like you have to rush to upgrade to OS X Mavericks.  In fact, you should always confirm both all the hardware and software you use is compatible with any new operating system before you upgrade.  And ask yourself: "why do I need it now?"  Because it's new is not a good answer.
In the future, specifying any troubleshooting others have done will help those on these boards help you.  Also, don't let a specific issue lead you to assume you've made an all-encompassing mistake.  It's just one issue, and it's resolvable.
And everyone else: giving a dozen recommendations for reading will only leave the petitioner bewildered.  Start with three.  And try responding with a hypothesis as to what's causing the primary problem!

  • I need to migrate data from Lion to OSX do you know of any problems with content between the two systems?

I'm using a MacBook AIR and OSX 10.9.1. When I upgraded that I made a mistake with the user name and so created another user. Now I understand I need to migrate the data between the two systems but that there might be trouble with some of the content files transferring across? Has anyone done this before? If so what were the pitfalls? Thanks and Help! No-one typing this feels as if they're on a steep learning curve at all!

First advise is to disable Memory Cleaner ! you don't need that , It can cause freezing and clocking. To disable it , From your homescreen go to Options > Security > Advance Security setting > Memory Cleaner > Disable that feature .After disabling it reboot your device do it by removing the Battery while your device is Powered On then wait for at least a minute then reinsert it back, your device may take a long reboot .
Then monitor your device for the next few hrs. and check if you feel the same problem .
