Net8 Error -- ORA-12535 Time Out

Here's the situation:
I have 2 8i Enterprise Servers, S1 and S2.
For purposes of simplicity, I have 2 Clients C1 and C2.
Using SQLPLUS, as one would expect, I can connect to S1 from C1, C2, and S2.
Problem: Cannot connect to S2 from C1, C2, or S1 -- Get ORA-12535 TNS Operation Timed out.
On S2:
-- The S2 db is up.
-- Can successfully perform a Net8 Config Assistant test on S2 but not from the clients.
-- Can perform a tnsping from the clients to S2. Network is up. Client sees the S2 listener.
Any suggestions? Email should read [email protected]

As a follow-up -- the problem had to do with a change made to the NT network configuration -- Changing from DHCP to a fixed IP address.

    Yes, the XP firewall is running. During the Oracle instalation it poped up twice, but I selected 'Unblock'. I can't turn it off because it is running using the domain settings, but I can add exceptions (programs or ports). Port 1521, tnsping or sqlplus are not blocked and there is an option 'Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program' witch is checked.

  • Error ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence

    Hi all,
    I created 3 cursors. The scenario is like following :
    Begin Cur A
    Begin FOR xx IN Cur B LOOP
    Begin FOR xx IN Cur C LOOP
    End LOOP Cur C;
    commit;
    End LOOP Cur B;
    End Cur A;
    When i run the program its display error ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence.
    The objective of my program is to insert into table and commit every transaction.
    Kindly share info with me why this error happened.
    TQ.
    tim

    Tim,
    Refer to the following:
    ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence
    Cause: This error means that a fetch has been attempted from a cursor which is no longer valid.
    Note that a PL/SQL cursor loop implicitly does fetches, and thus may also cause this error. There are a number of possible causes for this error, including:
    1) Fetching from a cursor after the last row has been retrieved and the ORA-1403 error returned.
    2) If the cursor has been opened with the FOR UPDATE clause, fetching after a COMMIT has been issued will return the error.
    3) Rebinding any placeholders in the SQL statement, then issuing a fetch before reexecuting the statement.
    Action:
    1) Do not issue a fetch statement after the last row has been retrieved - there are no more rows to fetch.
    2) Do not issue a COMMIT inside a fetch loop for a cursor that has been opened FOR UPDATE.
    3) Reexecute the statement after rebinding, then attempt to fetch again.

    I am having Macbook Pro, I have recently tried updating my operating system to OS Yosemite, but after that its giving problem in connecting to Wifi. The error is "Connection Time out Occurred". Its getting connected by Ethernet cable.

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
    Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
    Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
    Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
    In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
    You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
    Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
    Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
    Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • DB Connect error: ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect to a external oracle database from SAP.
    I entered the TNS entry of the external DB in the TNSNAMES.ORA and configured it in the table DBCON.
    But i am not able to connect to the external database. It is throwing the error
    "sql error     12.535 ; occured:ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out"
    But i was able to connect the database from my system through TNSPING and also from TOAD.
    Do i need to configure any parameter in LISTENER.ORA in SAP or in the external database?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    The note which you specified was with BI objects. But i am trying to connect from SAP R/3 to a remote Oracle database.
    I got connected to the  remote Oracle database for an hour and it got disconnected by saying "TNS operation timed out".
    The CONNECT_TIMEOUT parameter in LISTERER.ORA of the remote Oracle database  is missing.
    Will this may be the cause for the "TNS operation timed out".

  • How to Config Special Error Page for TIME OUT ONLY

    We can config our own error page for webdynpro applications by using
    transaction code SICF. thus the customizing error page will show when
    program meet some errors. these errors type include ABAP runtime
    dump/page time out etc.
    Here is my question, is there any configuration or enhancement can
    effect on ONLY ONE error type.which means the customizing error page
    shows only time out error occurred.for other errors show the standard
    error page.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

    I need to setup a situation, that is display a custom error page which say "under maintenance" if no back-end WebLogic Server instance reached.In the Apache HTTP Server v2.2 you can use the ErrorDocument directive: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/core.html#errordocument
    For example in httpd.conf,
    ErrorDocument 503 /Test.html
    Test.html is placed in the DocumentRoot (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/core.html#documentroot)

  • ProC code- error ORA-1002 fetch out of sequence

    Hi,
    we have an application currntly running on an HP UX system that uses Oracle 9i database.
    the pro*C codes work fine with Oracle 9i, on the older system. however now we are migrating it to LINUX system (ORACLE 10g). in the new system we are facing issues with fetch statement
    here is how we have the code:
    the cursor statement:
    EXEC SQL DECLARE diff_cns_list CURSOR FOR
    select PREV.CNS_CODE,
    PREV.CNS_DESCRIPTION,
    PREV.CGP_CODE,
    CURR.CNS_DESCRIPTION,
    CURR.CGP_CODE
    from NCIP_CNS_LIST PREV, NCIP_CNS_LIST CURR
    where CURR.SAMPLE_DATE =
    to_date('01' || :currdate || ' 00:00','ddyymm hh24:mi')
    and PREV.SAMPLE_DATE =
    to_date('01' || :prevdate || ' 00:00','ddyymm hh24:mi')
    and PREV.CNS_CODE = CURR.CNS_CODE
    and (PREV.CGP_CODE != CURR.CGP_CODE or
    PREV.CNS_DESCRIPTION != CURR.CNS_DESCRIPTION);
    ======================
    currdate=1106 (i.e. june 2011)
    prevdate=1105 (i.e. may 2011)
    ======================
    cursor is opened and then following fetch statement is run:
    while( 1 )
    exec sql FETCH diff_cns_list INTO :prev_vcns,
    :prev_vdesc,
    :prev_vcgp,
    :curr_vdesc,
    :curr_vcgp;
    /* If no data found then exit from loop */
    if( sqlca.sqlcode == 1403 )
    break;
    else if( sqlca.sqlcode != 0 )
    vLOG_Msg(LOG_MSG_ERROR,"fniCmpNcipCnsList",
    "ORACLE error on fetching diff_cns_list %s", sqlca.sqlerrm.sqlerrmc);
    return( ERROR );
    oravarterm( prev_vcns );
    oravarterm( prev_vdesc );
    oravarterm( prev_vcgp );
    oravarterm( curr_vdesc );
    oravarterm( curr_vcgp );
    fprintf( output_fp,"'%s','%s','%s','%s','%s'\r\n",prev_vcns.arr,
    prev_vdesc.arr,
    prev_vcgp.arr,
    curr_vdesc.arr,
    curr_vcgp.arr);
    the code runs fine in the old operating system (HP UX) where oracle 9i was used.
    but fails in Oracle 10g(OS-LINUX).
    the probable reason that we found out is that:
    the fetch statement returns zero rows, that is the reason why this error is being displayed.
    but Oracle 9i seemed to work out well with this.
    we tried reducing the cursor conditions, where it fetches 3 rows. this is when is the fetch statement works fine.
    the functionality of the code is that it should work fine even with no rows selected. Is there a way we can modfy the code to work with zero rows as well.
    the error we are getting is : ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence
    ==========================
    as per what is given in Oracle sites:
    1) Fetching from a cursor after the last row has been retrieved and the ORA-1403 error returned. 2) If the cursor has been opened with the FOR UPDATE clause, fetching after a COMMIT has been issued will return the error. 3) Rebinding any placeholders in the SQL statement, then issuing a fetch before reexecuting the statement.
    ========================
    we have checked:
    1>this is not the case and ORA-1403 not returned
    2>No update statements involved , there is a insert statement which inserts data in this table
    3>i am not clear with this one.
    Could anyone please guide us through this, please?

  • Wait on TCP errors w/o time out (error 62) on VxWorks

    Hi,
    I have a service request running with this one but I wondered if you could try to reproduce the issue as NI has so far been unable to reproduce it. I have attached the sample code. I have made a screencapture but that seems too large to upload. I will try to get the size down.
    When trying to open a tcp listener on a port which an external application is already trying to connect to while the software is starting up this will result in an error 62 when waiting on the listener. The wait is not going to wait the defined timeout. Surprisingly though even though the listen vi seems to get bypassed without waiting it will pick up a connection if the external application tries to connect and will accept the data without fault.
    This is a problem with potentially catastrophic result as the correct behaviour of the application relies on the mercy of the sender not trying to connect while the software is starting up.
    I have tested the behaviour on a sb-rio 9605 and a crio 9074 (example attached)
    I have tried on LV2012 and 2013 with August and February drivers.
    Steps To Reproduce :
    Please look at attached examples. Adjust the the ip address of your target both in the project and in the client vi. First run the server vi and then start the client vi. The interesting output can be seen on the server front panel. You will see expected behaviour in that the iteration counter goes up when the listener times out or gets a connection. The transmission indicator goes up when a connection is established. Now stop the server by pressing the stop button and relaunch it. This way the client is already running and trying to open connections while the software starts up. You will see the iteration counter erratically go up and the transmission indicator go up when ever the client tries to connect.
    Source of problem:
    I have now pinned the problem down to the "create listener". It seems that a "corrupted" listener gets created when the network buffer is not empty. The listener gets created without error and works when there is an inbound connection but shows the erroneous behaviour when nothing is coming in. The problem can get worked around by closing and re-opening the listener in case of an error 62.
    looking forward to your feedback
    best regards
    Mathis

    hi alan!
    The specified I/O operation on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2 was not completed before time-out period expired.
    I usually associate that one with a dodgy USB 2.0 connection. if you plug the ipod in to a different port, or use a different cable, will the synch go through properly?
    keep us posted.

    Hi All,
    In the transaction FB03, I entered a reference number that has not yet been created and then a company code of 2130 and fiscal year 2010 and hit enter. It takes a lot of time to show the error message that "No documents exists which fulfills the selection criteria".

    The exact ABAP statement is :- FETCH NEW CURSOR dbcursor INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF ex_result.
    Please suggest me if there is some note to be implemented or any other solution for the same!

    Trace the process to determine if there is a bad index being used.  Is the search using BKPF~1 or another index?  Are your DB stats up to date?  As for notes, you're unlikely to find one but don't ask for them here, search for them on OSS.

  • ORA-12535 TNS:Operation time Out and ORA-12154:TNS Could not resolve servic

    Greetings!!!
    I have installed my Oracle Database 10g & Developer Suite 10g in Windows XP Pro Machine. Oracle Application Server 10g is also installed in Windows 2003 Server machine.Both machine have different domain.When using Form Developer Suite OC4J to run my form program, i can connect to the database properly run the form perfectly.
    Problem encountered.
    When I tried to run the form using Application Server 10g(installed in Windows 2003 Server), I got an error ORA-12154:TNS Could not resolve service name when connecting to the database and I got an error ORA-12535 TNS:Operation time Out when using TNSPing. I checked both the configuration of TNSNAMES.ORA(database & Application SErver) using the same port & service name but still got the same error.
    Hope somebody can help me out there...
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    BTF

    I have seen this before with my setup, I found that I had to go into the net configuration assistant, and change my host name to the fully qualified name, example: my compuer name is computer1, I had to enter in computer1.OIT.Docfinity.com for it to take. That has always gotten me past that TNS error, just my 2 cents, hope it helps.
    keep on keeping on.

  • ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out on a win2000 Oracle instance

    Hi,
    i have a Oracle 8.1.5 instance on a WIN2000 PC.
    I can connect me to this database with sqlplus
    as long i stay on the PC (means i started the sqlplus
    on the same machine).
    When i try to connect from an other (unix-)system
    i get after a while (ca. 90 sec.) the error:
    ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out
    tnsping works fine (answer comes back in one second)
    There are no firewalls or other "strange" things between
    the database and the failing client (on an other PC,
    also win2000, Oracle 8.1.5 everything works fine).
    Below you see the log with debug of the listener.
    I have also a trace on level SUPPORT but this is more
    than 1000 lines for just 1 or 2 TNSPINGs and one SQLPLUS
    connect. Due to this volume i decided not to attach it to
    this initial mail.
    Does any one have some advice or experiences ?
    Please advice.

    Rather than
    MyDB.10gXE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MYSERVER)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    why not go with the bulk standard tnsnames entry as follows:-
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MYSERVER)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    I don't think the qualified MyDB.10gXE name is adding any value and may well confuse things.
    Although setting it for my environment does work

    OK - when I use your entry pasted directly from the above, with my server name, I get the following problem:-
