Netbeans Bean Form

Hi,
I created a class (MyPanel) using the JPanel Form.
I added some Component (JButton, TextField..)
I added it under Bean the Palette Manager so I can reuse it.
I created a class (MyCustomPanel) using the Bean Form and deriving from MyPanel.
I got the following error:
Error in loading component: [MyPanel]
Failed to initialize layout of this container.
MyPanel is working perfectly fine if I add it to another JPanel instead of inheriting from it.
So my questions are:
How to use the Bean Form?
Am I using it as it is meant to?
Is the Bean Form what I should use to derive from a panel and be able to use the Design view
What could be causing the error with the layout?
Thank you.

To make it a Bean, you must implement java.io.Serializable, and add getXXX and setXXX methods for your private variable foobar. As a bean, the code you've provided would look kinda like this:
class SampleJCB
      extends JComboBox
            implements Serializable {
    private int foobar = 0;
    public SampleJCB() {
        super();
        foobar = 15;
    public int getFoobar(){
        return foobar;
    public void setFoobar(int foobar) {
        this.foobar = foobar;
}Now, if you're interested in persistance of you're ComboBox, you may want to check out the Serializable Fields API, which will give you the details on how to serialize objects, how to write readObject and writeObject methods, how to define which fields are default serializable, etc.
Another thing you should note is that all swing components are already beans. So, JComboBox is itself a bean, and hence, when you create a subclass of JComboBox, it is, in a way, already a bean.

    how to use netbeans beans binding feature create a from which only have detail view (no master table )
    and bind domain (customer) object directly to GUI fields
    and i should have to the abilty to add new (create new ) domain object using the same form.
    I don’t want jtable in my form
    note:-and I have to be able to persist the old object and create new object in the same form
    ie :- add new button on the same form

    I'll give my usual comment here:
    Take this to a NetBeans forum--since it's how to use the NetBeans GUI tool and hasn't anything to do with you coding Java--or go back and learn how to code GUI's without an auto-coder. I and many others are very reluctant to give any advice other than that to anyone that wants to use the auto-code features of a product.

    How can I copy an entire Bean Form to an other new Bean Form ?
    I found it tricky because I cannot paste in the Generated Code of the new Bean Form, and I haven't found a way to copy the Components of the Form.

    Hi,
    Instead of importing oracle.cabo.ui.beans.form.RadioGroupBean, try by importing this class:
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.message.OAMessageRadioGroupBean
    --Sushant

  • PJC tab-key navigation problem within bean  (FORMS intercepting tab key??)

    Using Forms 10.1.2.3, IE7, JRE 1.6
    When attempting to navigate within the bean area, it appears as if FORMS is suppressing the keyEvent when the tab key is pressed. This means that I cannot use tab or shift-tab to navigate within the PJC's editable fields/buttons. I can click on them, enter data within them, but tab is somehow intercepted. When I place my PJC within a normal (non-forms) Java window, everything works fine.
    Documentation that I've read seems to indicate that tab should navigate perfectly fine within the bean area.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    This is how I did it. Sorry about the formatting, it was OK when I pasted the code fragment in.
    My class contains this in the variable definitions.
    private AWTEventListener keyListener = new DoKey ();
    private class DoKey implements AWTEventListener {
    public void eventDispatched (AWTEvent e) {
    //System.err.println("eventDispatched " + e.toString());
    //System.err.println("eventDispatched source " + e.getSource().toString());
    if ((e instanceof KeyEvent) && (e.getSource() instanceof Component)) {
    * The event was a key pressed event and it was sourced from a Component.
    KeyEvent evt = (KeyEvent) e;
    if (evt.getID() == evt.KEY_PRESSED) {
    if (evt.getKeyCode() == evt.VK_TAB) {
    if (evt.isShiftDown()) {
    ((Component)e.getSource()).transferFocusBackward();
    else {
    ((Component)e.getSource()).transferFocus();
    The listener is enabled when on initialisation
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().addAWTEventListener (keyListener, AWTEvent.KEY_EVENT_MASK);

  • NetBeans IDE Form Build

    I am constructing a form using Netbeans IDE JFrame form.
    When I try to test the form, the frame is a very small size, with only the close/maximise/minimise buttons showing.
    When this from is adjusted in size, the main components appear.
    This same thing happens when I compile and execute the main code of this form, apart from the fact that no components appear when I adjust the size of the frame.
    Whats is wrong?
    Thanks

    Try using setSize(300, 300); (or some other sensible value)
    Alternatively, add components to the form and call pack();

  • Servlet action is not available -- Jboss 4.0.2 and Netbeans 5.5.1

    Hi There
    Before Posting this question I have gone through forums but none of them were satisfactory.
    I am really sorry to use such words.
    Well Here are my sections of struts-config.xml
    <form-beans>
            <form-bean name="logon" type="org.apache.struts.action.DynaActionForm">
              <form-property name="username" type="java.lang.String"/>
              <form-property name="password" type="java.lang.String"/>
            </form-bean>
        </form-beans>
    <action-mappings>
            <action name="logon" path="/logon"
                type="com.SMS.view.logon" scope="request" >
                  <forward name="success.admin" path="/pages/admin.jsp"/>
                  <forward name="success.hod" path="/pages/hod.jsp"/>
                  <forward name="success.hr" path="/pages/hr.jsp"/>
                  <forward name="sucess.admission" path="/pages/admission/jsp"/>
                  <forward name="Fails" path="/pages/welcome.jsp"/>
        </action>
        </action-mappings>
    web.xml
    <servlet>
            <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
            <servlet-class>org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet</servlet-class>
            <init-param>
                <param-name>config</param-name>
                <param-value>/WEB-INF/struts-config.xml</param-value>
            </init-param>
            <init-param>
                <param-name>debug</param-name>
                <param-value>2</param-value>
            </init-param>
            <init-param>
                <param-name>detail</param-name>

        <servlet-mapping>
            <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>

        </servlet-mapping>Now My action servlet that extends action -- logon.java in package com.SMS.view
    public class logon extends Action {

    }Finally my JSP page.
    <html:form action="/logon.do">

                </table>
            </html:form>Well I think, I have given required info.
    Please let me know the solution so that it can solve others problem too..
    Many Thanks

    Hi there!
    After two weeks of strugle I found the Solution to the problem.
    First of all many thanks to all idots who read this thread & had not replied.
    It looks we do not have efficient JAVA programmers worldwide.
    Well here are few trouble shootings for this problem:
    In order to rectify this problem first of all look at the directory structure of my application:
    (*Please note that I'm using Netbeans 5.5.1. So this is ofcourse for the netbeans. this is the directory structure of war file*)
    SMS(*Application name*)
    |____WEB-INF
    |      |___pages
    |      |     |___admin.jsp
    |      |     |___hod.jsp
    |      |
    |      |___lib(*contains all jar files.*)
    |      |
    |      |___classes
    |            |____com
    |                  |__SMS
    |                     |___view (*package*)
    |                     |      |__logonForm.class(*Form bean*)
    |                     |      |__logon.class(*action class*)
    |                     |
    |                     |___Struts(*package*)
    |                     |
    |                     |___model (*package*)
    |                           |__DBAccess.class
    |                           |__checkUser.class
    |
    |_____ALL XML And tld files._____So if you have a similar structure too then this thing can help you.
    Fist of all here is my Mistake:
    ****** Look at my jsp page coding ***********
    <html:form action="/logon.do" focus="username">I change this to :
    <html:form action="logon.do" focus="username">this solves the problem.
    Explanation is that with "/logon.do" it searches below one directory where the all class files of actions are stored.
    Here are Few more trouble shootings in order to resolve this problem.
    1) Make sure you have placed proper path (relative) for action class in action mapping tag in struts-config.xml
    2) Make sure you have placed proper path (relative) for form bean class in formbean tag in struts-config.xml
    3) Some people also have suggested that you include "*common-collection.jar*" , "*common-dcbp.jar*" etc. files to your application.
    You can try this too.
    4) The only mis-conception is that you have to be very cautious about the paths of resources when you define them.
    Cheers,
    Thanks & Regards

  • Trying to insert a custom visual bean gives me an error

    I've created a custom bean based on javax.swing.jpanel and it compiles fine. I've added it to the component panel as a visual bean but when I try to place it on a frame it throws me an error, which can be found below. I've definately had this visual bean working on another computer using forte but it may not be the same version of forte or java as on this machine. This machine has forte 3.0 and java 1.3.1. Other custom visual beans work fine. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • How to use a SAME form between two JSP ?

    Hi,
    I have a JSP called jsp1 that use a form called form1.
    I use the next line in jsp1 to tell this :
    <jsp:useBean id="form1" class="Form" scope="request"/>
    In struts-config :
    <form-beans>
    <form-bean name="form1" type="Form"/>
    </form-beans>
    <action path="/jsp" type="Action" name="Form" scope="request">
    <forward name="success" path="jsp2.jsp"/>
    </action>
    In the action linked to this form, I populate my form.
    Next, I would like, in the second JSP jsp2, to USE THE SAME FORM form1, so that I can use some datas I have inserted in it after I have called the action of jsp1.
    I hope you will understand my BAD english :)
    HELP ME PLEASE, it is very urgent !

    Maybe it is not very clear... I am going to explain it in another way :
    I have one form that I use in JSP (init.jsp) thanks to this line :
    <jsp:useBean id=3D"Form" class=3D"com.form.MyForm" scope=3D"request"/>
    In my struts-config.xml :
    <action path=3D"/fastsearch"
         type=3D"com.action.MyAction"
         name=3D"Form"
         scope=3D"request">
         <forward name=3D"success" path=3D"success.jsp"/>
    </action>
    Thanks to MyAction, I populate the fields of my form. I can access to =
    this fields in success.jsp.
    Here the perform method of MyAction :=20
    public ActionForward perform(ActionMapping mapping,
                        ActionForm form,
                             HttpServletRequest req,
                             HttpServletResponse res) {
         (MyForm)form.populate();=09
         req.setAttribute("TempForm", ((MyForm)form));
         return mapping.findForward("success");
    Now, I would like that when I click on a link in success.jsp to go to =
    another JSP page (last.jsp), I can access to my populated form !=20
    At this moment, I have=20
    <jsp:useBean id=3D"TempForm" class=3D"com.form.MyForm" =
    scope=3D"request"/> at the beginning of last.jsp, but it does not =
    work...
    I hope you understand what I want to say ;)
