Netbeans with Orion

Hi folks
I am trying to configure netbeans with orion server. But, always the netbeans tries to access the tomcat server. I want to disable tomcat forever.
Do anyone know how ?
Thanks
Payal

I don't understand your problem. I use orion with netbeans and it is excelent. You will have to write a little script to start the server for debugging:
cd /opt/orion
JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.3.1
JAVA_PATH=/opt/jdk1.3.1
$JAVA_HOME/bin/java -classic -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE \
     -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=5000 \
     -Xbootclasspath/a:$JAVA_HOME/lib/tools.jar \
     -jar orion.jar
Now you can attach to the server on port 5000 and debug away! If you have jsp's to debug configure the orion server to be in "development" mode (server.xml) and then mount the directory containing the jsp classes and .java files. You can then debug your jsp's and servlets interactively.

  • NetBeans With J2EE versus Sun One Studio Enterprise

    What is the difference between NetBeans with J2EE and Sun One Studio Enterprise?
    Which of the two would be more appropriate to use for creating GUI applications? Which one would be more appropriate for an EJB based web application?

    Sun One Studio is Netbeans with additional "enterprise" functionality. As thing now stand, S1S is 1-2 releases behind NB, due to the time required to add the additional functionality. The added stuff is useful for large systems, and Sun supports S1S - but not NB.
    Depending on your specific requirements, either one might do the job.
    Both are now free, and it appears that they will stay that way.
    And both can use Application Server and Tomcat (or JBoss, etc in the the case of NB 5), and both work with J2EE.

  • Oracle AQ with Orion 2.0 application server

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use Oracle AQ/JMS as queue for a J2EE message driven bean running in an Orion 2.0 application server.
    To connect the bean with the queue I have to configure a resource provider. By now, the only resource provider I found is the class oracle.jms.OjmsContext witch is included in the oc4j.jar file of oracles J2EE container.
    So the question is, is there a way to use Oracle AQ as infrastructure for message driven beans with other J2EE servers then Oracles OC4J?
    Thanks in advance.

    Tanks 327 for your reply.
    I think you got me a little wrong (because of my poor english).
    I hoped that somebody can tell me if there is a java library (jar) that I can use to use Oracle AQ with Orion 2.0 for message driven beans.
    I'm wondering why the class OjmsContext is only availiable in the main jar of the Oracle J2EE container. I think it would be very usefull to have an extra library containing all the stuff needed to use AQ with other application servers.

    PLEASE HELP..So you mean you are trying to connect to SQL Server.
    Right. Well this isn't a SQL Server administration support site. So you need to find one for your SQL Server administration problem.
    Also I would recommend you use one of the free type 4 (pure Java) JDBC drivers for connecting to SQL Server rather than the ODBC bridge driver.
    Good luck in your searching!

  • Problem in connecting netbeans with oracle 10g express edition

    hi friends... i need help in connecting the database with netbeans..... in netbeans, under services option... i have a option for database... but am not getting any drop-down while right clicking to add a new database... i tried in both netbeans6.9 and netbeans7... what should i do to connect netbeans7 to oracle 1og express edition.... pls help me friends.... pls do reply

    First of all, I think your dot... button is broken, it keeps repeating which makes it SO much harder to read your post.
    Secondly, I suggest you take your question to the Netbeans mailing lists. This is a Java programming forum, not a technical support forum for the hundreds of tools available to support Java programming.

  • Jdeveloper with orion 1.0.2.2 containers

    Hi,
    How can I configure the Jdeveloper debugger to use orion 1.0.2.2 containers rather than the 9.0.x containers?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    You can do remote debugging with JDev9i 9.0.2 on the OC4J 1.0.2.2 container, but you cannot change the configuration of the embedded container for local debugging. Our online help discusses the steps required to do remote debugging.

  • Need a help to create ejb application in netbeans with weblogic 9.2

    Hi guys,
    I am new to EJB..can anyone guide me to create a EJB application in netbeans 5.5 with weblogic server 9.2 ..
    thank u in advance..

    Hi guys,
    If there is no one to help me with this so simple project then I will have to quit trying. I am getting to much pressure to get this done and I just don't know how to proceed anymore. I have found a document on OTN that explain the basics of binding but it's to vast and too complicated under pressure. If someone could help me to bind this LOV I would appreciate this so much and then I could relax a little and read all the good documents that I have found on OTN.
    This is my last chance.
    Thank you!

  • Standalone Web Service clients in NetBeans with WSIT security

    I'm having a problem create a secure app with NetBeans, any help would be appreciated, here's what I did:
    Following the WSIT tutorial (http://java.sun.com/webservices/reference/tutorials/wsit/doc/index.html) I was able to create a Web Service with (for example) Username Authentication with Symmetric Key. I select the keystore as being the either the default development settings (I installed V3 certificates previously) or what I imagine are the same as them: keystore from domain1, alias xws-server and a username and password that I've created in the glassfish admin console. All good so far.
    I then create a new web app servlet client, configuring the Web Service client with the corresponding cacerts keystore, alias xws-security-server from domain1 and the correct username and password. Deploy that and bingo, it works.
    Try that again with a standalone Java client configuring the client reference in exactly the same way and using:
            try { // Call Web Service Operation
                uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server.SecureWSService service = new uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server.SecureWSService();
                uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server.SecureWS port = service.getSecureWSPort();
                int x = 1200;
                int y = 36;
                int result = port.add(x, y);
                System.out.println("Result = "+result);
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                System.out.println("Exception:");
                ex.printStackTrace();
            }but this time, it doesn't work:

    but it seems the largest .java file netbeans can
    handle is 1mb is there anything i can do about this?Usually java files that large are a product of bad programming. I can't tell if that is true in your case, but I would suggest splitting stuff up in several files.

  • NetBeans with Tomcat Help - Server returned HTTP response code: 503

    Hi all, I wasn't sure where to post this.. but anyhow, my problem is as follows:
    Earlier in the day, I was able to successfully deploy my application to the Tomcat server by simply running the application from NetBeans. A couple of hours away from my computer and I returned to find this error when I ran my application:
    In-place deployment at C:\xxx
    Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://localhost:8081/manager/deploy?config=file:/C:/xxx
    C:\xxx\nbproject\build-impl.xml:634: Deployment error:
    The module has not been deployed.
    See the server log for details.
    BUILD FAILED (total time: 36 seconds)
    Any ideas on how to solve this? I've tried reinstalling NetBeans, Tomcat, reconfiguring NetBeans but to no avail. I should also mention that I am able to successfully deploy the application sometimes when I select a different server to deploy to. >_<
    Gurus out there, please help..

    Solved my own solution.. It had to do with one of my Hibernate named queries. =x Found that out when I switched to SUN Application Server for awhile. ^_^

  • Standalone Web Service clients in NetBeans with Reliable Messaging

    Following the WSIT tutorial (http://java.sun.com/webservices/reference/tutorials/wsit/doc/index.html) it's possible to create a Web Service with Reliable Messaging and a servlet client which run perfectly, great, but try and create a standalone client in NetBeans and it immediatly fails.
    Basically I created a standard Java application, did New->Web Service Client exactly like I had done in the servlet example and then used the Web Service Client Resources -> Call Web Service Operation context menu to add a Web Service call to my java application.
    The relevant code:
    try { // Call Web Service Operation
                uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server.NonSecureWSService service = new uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server.NonSecureWSService();

                int x = 0;
                int y = 10;
                int result = port.add(x, y);
                System.out.println("Result = "+result);
                ((Closeable)port).close();

    BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 1 second)By removing the Reliable Messaging from the Web Service this error goes away. Initially I thought this error might be being caused by not specifying the WebMethod annotations 'action' parameter, but it's definitely set.
    package uk.ac.ox.sddag.glassfish.server;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebParam;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    @WebService()
    public class NonSecureWS {
        @WebMethod(action = "add")
        public int add(@WebParam(name = "x") int x, @WebParam(name = "y") int y) {
            return x+y;
    }Interestingly, I found that this error also goes away if I add the library webservices-rt.jar from my glassfish libs to the project. Perhaps this is an oversight of NetBeans and should have been added automatically if reliable messaging is enabled, although by default it does have JAX-WS 2.1 jaxws-tools which I'm guessing is for some reason not adequate. JAX-WS version mismatch?

    This bug still isn't fixed.
    Thank you, adding Glassfish's webservices-rt.jar does fix it.
