Netconsole configuration on oracle vm server 2.1.5?

I am having a little trouble with my OCFS2 /OVS file system on VM Server 2.1.5. I managed to hang three servers in the cluster, but I'm not exactly sure how. As I understand it, the only way to truly debug OCFS2 issues is to configure netconsole.
I have attempted the following:
1) Modify /etc/sysconfig/netconsole to set up the IP address of my syslogd server
2) service netconsole start
I get the following in my /var/log/messages file (IP Addresses and MAC address are correct in my version ;-) ):
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 netconsole:: inserting netconsole module with arguments netconsole=[email protected]/eth0,[email protected]
/zz:zz:zz:zz:zz:zz
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: local port 6666
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: local IP 192.168.xxx.xxx
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: interface eth0
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: remote port 514
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: remote IP 192.168.yyy.yyy
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: remote ethernet address zz:zz:zz:zz:zz:zz
Jul 30 09:03:15 vm01 kernel: netconsole: eth0 doesn't support polling, aborting.
eth0 is a 1 port of a Intel Pro1000MT card built in to our Dell 1850.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I'm not sure if netconsole works via syslog. Try capturing the netconsole output with the nc command (nc -l -u 6667) using another server on the local network, then point the netconsole config to that server and port 6667.
Also, you can configure the netconsole client side with for example (change 192.168.x.x to the netconsole server's ip):
modprobe netconsole netconsole=@/,[email protected]/
If that doesn't work, check dmesg output on the client to see why netconsole wouldn't load. Could be you need to specify the interface name. See modinfo netconsole for details.

    Hi,
best would be to take the actual version of Oracle (11gR2), which fixes a lot of bugs (also in installation), than to analyze problems based on old versions.
Even if you need older databases (10.2, which I don't hope since support is ending soon), you should at least think about taking the newest version for Oracle Clusterware (Grid infrastructure), .

  • Recommended configuration for Oracle VM Server and VM Manager

    Hi,
Currently we have two dedicated DELL servers (VM server and VM Manager) for which are building an Oracle stack environment.
We are facing a problem which we didn't find answer from Oracle docs or via Google. The problem is that the virtual machines we create in VM Manager can't be connected to the outside world, and we think it's because our host (Hetzner) does not allow ports eth1-eth3 to be connected to the servers, unless we have these servers in the same rack and connected via switch.
Our question is, is it recommended configuration to have VM Server and VM Manager servers in the same rack and connected via switch?
If yes, the next question is, if we need in the future to add one more dedicated DELL server to our configuration to host virtual machines, is it possible if the new third dedicated DELL server is not connected via switch to the two dedicated DELL servers we have already have?
If no, the next question is, what could be the recommended configuration and solution to our problem in our case that ports eth1-eth3 cannot be connected to the servers?
Please do not hesitate to ask if you need more information. I do appreciate your time and expertise. Thanks.

The architectural environment is now done like on this graphic. For security reasons Hetzner hosting service does not allow ports eth1-eth3 to be connected, but in internal network under switch they do.

  • Need help in configuring the Oracle app server with OC DB Server

    Hello people
I attempted to insta;; Oracle Clinical 4.5 and I have a problem that you mayhave resolved a long time back and I need some help. This is what I have done on the installation.
I need your help in centralizing my tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files. I am an Oracle Clinical guy and not an Oracle Expert, hence the request.
    Part_1
    1. Installed Oracle 9i 9.2 database on Win2K server - W2kOCSVR
    2. Installed Oracle Clinical 4.5 and created DB on W2KOCSVR.
    3. Started up database and all is fine - tnsnames and sqlnet.ora
    4. Each of these is on a separate partition including the OS.
    Part-II
    1. Installed Oracle Appl Server 9iAs 1.0.2.2.2a on another machine OCMIDTIER. This installed Oracle iSuites home and stuff.
    2. Then I installed Oracle 9i developer suite - Oracle forms and reports.
    3. Installed Jinitiator 1.1.8.24 on the middle tier machine.
    4. Basically this is the middle tier that is a Webserver that will be linked to the Database Server in Part-I
and lastly, I will have web clients with Jinitiator and a web browser.
    Requirement:
I need to centralize the TNSNAMES.ora file and the SQLNET.ora file on all the machines. How do I do this?.
I have the TNSNAMES.ora and the SQLNET.ora on DB server and it is working fine. However, I have noticed many tsnnames.ora files on the middle tier - OCMIDTIER. (I've left out the example files)
    a) E:\ORACLE\806\net80\admin\tnsnames.ora
    b) E:\ORACLE\806\net80\tnsapi\tnsnames.ora
    c) E:\ORACLE\iSuites\hs\admin\tnsnames.ora
    d) E:\ORACLE\iSuites\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
All I need to know is which if these files do I need to integrate with the Tnsnames.ora file on the DB server - W2kOCSVR and how do I go about doing this?.
Your help is appreciated. If I were to see a copy of your tnsnames.ora on the webserver (middle tier) and the sqlnet.ora, I will be able to get an idea of how this is done. Right now, I am using tnsnames.ora but once I learn how this ties up, I can move to names sever.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cecil

    Hi Cecil,
I got into the same issue. I copied the content from the good tnsnames.ora to tnsnames.ora on webserver and it worked fine. I copied the details of the connect string that was working fine on dbserver. i was working on W2k server. Hope this helps

  • Custom JAAS login module configuration in Oracle application server

I have a LDAP login module implementing javax.security.auth.spi.LoginModule. This login module works well with tomcat and weblogic, if I configure the JVM arguments -Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy to point to the login.conf and access.policy files. The login.conf file has the below content
    FREEWAY_SERV
    com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=false;
    FREEWAY_PORT
    com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=true;
The access.policy file has contains content like below:
    grant Principal com.wipro.freeway.security.RolePrincipal "UserAdministration" {
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createOtherUser.frw";
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createDealer.frw";
The application uses these login modules by passing Name of the JAAS configuration (FREEWAY_SERV or FREEWAY_PORT).
I would like to use the same login module and code in Oracle application sever 10.1.3 and I haven't got any success yet. I am not getting how to set these JVM properties and make my application identify this custom login module. I have tried configuring the custom login module via oc4j admin console and I couldn't give a name to my configuration. I also set the system properties for
-Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy with no success.
Could anybody please help me to get this right?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
In OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3.x) you can register your login module in your application (and server) using Enterprise Manager, and config file. That is easier and more flexible that the parameter.
I would invite you to take a look to the security how-to:
    - 10.1.3 How-tos, and How to integrate a custom login module
You can also take a look to the 10.1.3 Documentation and the LDAP/Login Module integration.

    Hi,
in OracleAs bet is to use Enterprise Manager to configure the login module. The LoginModule needs to be configured in the system-jazn-data.xml file, which is located in teh j2ee/home/config directory of the OC4J you use. Enterprise Manager does this all for you.
In your application deployment the orion-application.xml file needs to specify that a custom LoginModule should be used. Again ENterprise Manager does it for you.
To use the LoginModule e.d. for J2EE authentication, just make sure that the application name of the J2EE deployment matches the name of the LoginModule configuration
If you want to use pure JAAS you may have to change the OC4J properties file in the j2ee/home/config directory. Best suggestion to give is to get the online documentation for OC4J security

    Hai All,
We have installed OHS 1.3 in DMZ and we have 10.1.2 midtier installed with B2B server in Firewall.
I have modified mod_oc4j.conf of standalone OHS with following content to route the requests to midtier
    Oc4jMount /b2b/* instance://ap6003idmz.oracle.com:AS_10gR2_MID:OC4J_B2B
I restarted OHS and I tried http://ap6001eip.oracle.com:7777/b2b/transportServlet on standalone OHS but no use then I removed above line and added below line
    Oc4jMount /b2b/* ajp13://ap6003idmz.us.oracle.com:12502
Restarted OHS abd tried above url but no use
b2b/transportServlet is a servlet deployed on midtier
What else do I need to route the requests from OHS to OC4J on midtier

  • How to configure Oracle HTTP server

Hi, I installed APEX 3.0 in Oracle 10.2.0.2 database. I installed HTTP server from Oracle 10.2.0 database companion CD. The problem is I am not sure which conf file I need to modify as in the installation document, it only shows steps for how to configure HTTP server 9.0.3/11g/Oracle Application Server 10g. Anybody knows where to get the right doc? Thanks.

    Hi,
Configure the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) from the companion CD is the same for other OHS (apart from OHS 9.x where it uses wdbsvr.app).
So just follow the install guide from

    Hi,
I have had a look at my installation, and what I did was create two directories called disk1 and disk2, (for the two extracted zip files) and then ran setup in the disk 1 directory. So I don't know if it was aware of the disk 2 directory.
I am re-installing it now. So I will get back to you.
Thank you very much for getting back so quickly.

    Hi all,
I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues.

anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,

Also, I noticed that I cannot use the typical option when creating the repository for OMS because it does not accept the domain my computer is in (dgsaude.min-saude.pt) since it seems to be an invalid domain name...
I am a little under pressure here...Please help

Thank you very much; I will take a look at documentation; anyway, just a question I am in doubt about..the tasks I need to automate have to do with deleting the contents of some local tables, then run some SqlPlus queries to fill those tables again (I run them locally by using a database link to another database); final tables will be connected to an www site and refreshed. As I have understood, I can do this using DBMS_JOBS (for which, I think, I would need to learn some PL/SQL...) or configure the OMS to do it (which, as you said, can be a bit of a pickle in the start...). Given the situation, which one of these tools would you advise me to use?
    Thank You
    Andre
