Networking and JWS

Hi...
In the same machine I have the following applications running :
(1) A web server able to provide JWS content
(2) A j2se application acting as server
When I access this web server I get a client application via JWS that might connect to the application server(2)
It throws no error... it simply doesnt connect.. any suggestion???

yes... it is not throwing an exception.
the connection is stablished when the client initializes a Socket instance using for instance Socket mySocket = new Socket("201.78.22.192",1234)... this initialization may throw a IOException either a SecurityException. The problem is... none of this are being throwed :\
whats happening??? I was wondering if there could be some security restriction... I dont know

SOAP and JWS

I've got a problem with some of my clients networks. I've got an app that is running correctly on most networks. It relies extensively on SOAP calls to our server.
The problem networks will download the app correctly and start it up, but at the point of the first SOAP call it fails. I'm assuming that because the app downloaded and started that the proxy settings are correct. Although the problem seems to arise more in corporate networks which have more draconian proxy servers.
Are there any known gotchas with SOAP and JWS I should know about?

Some proxies require Username and Password authentication. You can pass that info in the SOAP call setup, but of course you have to have it available.
Since Java Web Start likes to handle proxies itself and does not provide a way to retrieve the Username and Password, you might have to create an additional proxy login screen.
Of course, this might be very annoying as you would get 3 logins! One for Java Web Start's proxy login, one for you to get the proxy login info for your SOAP call, and one for your application's login. VERY ANNOYING!
I do not know of a good solution to the problem, but I hope this info can help you resolve it.

Can no longer connect to my network and "forget network" option has disappeared??? (Ipod touch 5th generation). This happened on both my children's ipods. We have reset network settings but it doesn't help.

Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Do you have a Mac or idevice for setting up the Express? It does require a later utility than is available for windows.
You might be able to setup with the v5 utility in windows but there is no guarantee.
You should use a simple name both for the base and the wireless. eg AEXgen2 base name and AEXwifi for wireless name.. that is if you get access.

The Difference between Extending a Wireless network and WDS?

I have an Extreme (n) and an Express (n).
I want to make sure the signal is strong upstairs and share a printer (connected to the express) and use AirTunes. I also may add an external drive to the Extreme.
What's the difference between Extending a Wireless Network and using WDS? Will there be a speed difference?

I think you don't get it
If I have another draft N router that operates at 2.4G and I have only n devices I can still use WDS and it will connect using draft n in the 2.4G band.
If one g device connects to the network will go in mixed mode.
The AEBS will still report 130 Mbps for your n clients and 54 for your g clients.
If the other router is g only obviously you can't connect between the two router at n mode but still the AEBS will be in mixed mode and not in g. The Extreme will still report 130 Mbps for the connected n clients.
I can tell you that because I have actually implemented it am not taking off the documentation.
The same device if I try to use the "extend n network" does not even see the AEBS but will happily keep the n in the WDS mode and though the bandwidth is halved it is still more than g.
In any case enough for this!

I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.

I rented a movie via Itunes on my PC but half-way through the download recieved a "An unknown error has occured (-50)" notification. This is not my first rental, and I have verified my network and all connections to be good. Will I still be charged?

Did you figure this out? I haven't rented a movie in this new iTunes yet and saw one tonight I wanted to rent. Same fricken thing is happening to me. I hate this new iTunes, and I really hate that there are problems like this....why the heck do they have to fix something that isn't broken and break it? This just really stinks.

Wireless network and bluetooth not working on touchsmart 600

This has not worked since day 1 and I have been using wired internet.
I really need to setup a home network and need to use wireless.
Research on the net has led me to belive I should have HP WIRELESS ASSISTANT on my machine... is that correct?
Everytime I try to download it is seem to be for a notepad... mine is a touchsmart desktop...

I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.

You are making some progress with setup of wireless network. Apparently there is reliability problem with the wireless connection. Perhaps you want to refer to following Apple support documents and start tweaking parameters in the router to improve the reliability. I used to have third-party routers such as Belkin and Netgear but switched to Apple Airport routers (Time Capsule then Airport Extreme for now) because of incompatibility issues whenever Apple upgrade Mac OS X. But since Apple develops Airplay protocol as alternative to Bluetooth for wireless audio/video streaming (with much better bandwidth) and must be deployed in any wireless network, there is no reason third-party routers not working for Airplay protocol.

HT4628 My Mac mini has decided to continuously drop off my wifi network and is incredibly slow to open a web page. Wifi is working perfectly with other devices.

Hi my Mac mini will not stay on the network today and is slower than a pc to lad a web page.
I've followed various suggestions off the web and still have the same problem. 1 second the network is available and working slow and the next it says in network diagnostics that ISP has failed. The router is fine as I'm using an iPad and iPhone and all is working perfectly at +5 Mbps however when I try to open yahoo in safari it take about 5 minutes to open the page and then when I try to create a new mail I get the same Tim delay and then can't enter a send to address!
I've never managed to sort out email either but it not for a lack of trying about 30 different suggestions.
I'm fairly new to mac and am getting very very frustrated with not being able to solve these problems.
Can anyone please steer me towards a step by step or screen by screen resolution please please please help?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them; in that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. Any change?
If possible, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
Are any other devices on the network, and if so, are they the same?
If you can connect to more than one network, are they all the same?
Are all network applications affected, or only some? If only some, which ones?
Is networking always the same, or is the problem intermittent?
Disconnect all other devices from the network. Any change?
Boot in safe mode and test. Any difference?
If possible, turn off Bluetooth and disconnect any USB 3 devices. Any difference?

A few options to try:
They hyphen should be next to the + on the character map.
If you are still having issues, provided your ATV software is up to date, you can now connect an Apple Wireless Keyboard through bluetooth connections.
Change your network password so it does not use a hyphen

Bluetooth Network and Internet sharing issue

I'm trying to set up a network through Bluetooth between two computers having the latest Toshiba Stack installed, and to share the Internet connection with the second computer.
On the firs computer I've set the Internet Connection Sharing, and because of this it automatically sets the TCP/IP adresses for the Bluetooth Personal Area network (192.168.0.1).
On the 2nd computer, i've set everything to obtain it automatically. Firewalls (Kaspersky) disabled.
When I connect the 2 Bluetooth devices, everything looks fine, the 2nd automatically obtains the IP adress, I can ping both computers, and the Internet also works on the 2nd computer, for a few seconds! After that, it appears like the 2nd computer is disconnected from the network... what could be the problem?
In the event viewer under the System tab, I've found Informations like these:
