NetworkUtility class in sdonm 10gR2 or 11g

Hello
The network model java package, sdonm, contained a class NetworUtility in 10gR1. It seems that in 10gR2 this class is not available anymore. Also the documentation for 10gR2 as 11g do not contain information on this class.
Does anybody knows if it still exist or that I am looking in the wrong place?
If it is removed from the sdonm, does anybody knows why?

Yes, it is possible to have both 11g and 10gR2 on the same RAC cluster, provided you upgrade your CRS to 11g. CRS needs to be of the highest version in the stack.

  • Apex on 10gR2 -- Use 11g or 10g HTTP Server?

    We're just starting an Apex development effort, and have a couple of environmental limitations to respect in our production and test environments...
    i) 10gR2 database
    ii) Separation of database and web tiers
    Given these constraints we'll be using the Oracle HTTP Server on a different host to the 10gR2 database, so my question is this: are there pros and cons to sticking with the 10g OHS versus adopting the 11g OHS straight off? Do we gain/lose anything in terms of complexity, stability, performance, integration with LDAP, platform options, licensing ... ?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Any errors in error_log? Does strace -p <http pid> reveal anything? Not sure if Suse Linux has pstack command. If yes, run pstack <http pid> and search on Google for the stack trace.

    Controller class should not be given like that...According to [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/adf_lifecycle.htm#CHDBDCDF]the documentation, you can indeed use EL to specify the ControllerClass.

This begaves strangelyTake a step back and read your post again - do you think anyone would be able to help you, given the level of information you've provided? If it works sometimes, then apparently you have specified it properly. What is the stack trace for the illegal access exception? What are you doing in your controller class (assuming the exception is thrown from your class).

  • Manually Migrating from Oracle 10g to 11g

    Hello, I'm currently a student in an Oracle DBA class. I'm totally new to the Oracle world.
    One of our final assignments concerns upgrading Oracle instances without the use of DBUA.
    I've currently got Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 and am trying to upgrade to 11.1.0.7.0
    This is all inside of VirtualBox, running Windows Server 2008. I've been using 10g with absolutely no issues for the duration of this class.
    I successfully installed 11g, choosing to install the software only and not use dbua.
    I changed my environment variables to point towards the 10g installation; ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    Then logged into 10g's SQLPlus and ran utlu111i.sql, which ran successfully. I issued a shutdown immediate and exited SQLPlus.
    Changed my environment variables to point towards the 11g home and set ORACLE_SID as the 10g database name. I was able to log into 11g's SQL plus, was told I was connected to an idle instance, which I expected. I issued a startup upgrade command, and then attempted to run catupgrd.sql, but got an error stating that I had to run the script from 11g.
    If I don't set the environment variables then when I try to log into 11g's sqlplus, I get an ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error... I've tried reinstalling 11g from scratch, but to no avail. My instructor and I have been emailing back and forth frequently over the past few days but we have not been able to reach a solution, so I thought I would see if I could pick your brains.
    Here's all of the terminal output from the process:

    Your instance is started from the 10g ORACLE_HOME. You mentioned you started it from the 11g ORACLE_HOME but it's not the case.
    Here is an example with a 10gR2 database started from a 11gR2 ORACLE_HOME :
    SQL> startup upgrade pfile =/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/initP102.ora

    To solve the issue follow the official documentation, you have specific actions with oradim etc. to do (it's always a bit more complicated than with Unix/Linux but it's documented) :

  • How to export 9i and import in 11g for EBS 11i

    Hi
    refered note 557738.1

    note 452783.1
    Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 11g Release 1 (11.1.0)
    It required the use of datadump. And upgrade the source database to 10gR2 or 11g. We cannot upgrade the source DB as end user
    will continue to use the source instance and the OS is too old to support new database versionThe existing 11.5.10.2
    instance run on Solaris 8 platform. They will continue to use them for production support until the new R12 instance go live.
    The new platform for database will be in HP-Itanium (DB) and Linux (Web/form). The first step I plan to do is to migrate the database to new platform
    and then start the R12 upgrade in new platform.
    This client also know that export/import is fine from 9i to 11g as they already done in other database application by themselves.
    So I want to use export/import to transfer the database from Solaris platform to HP platform.
    I do not found a single note for this case. I am planning to combine two note 230627.1 for data export & import.
    And 557738.1 for new database creation in new HP platform. Is there any issue need to aware?

    What you have to do is to export/import the 9i database (to 9i), then upgrade to 11g.

  • Java Class to connect to oracle

    Hi all,
    I am a new in Java in database...
    I have written a java class to connect to oracle and to get some information from the databse. In the class i use the driver oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.
    When I exeute the code in JDeveloper it works fine.
    I have loaded the classes to database (10gR2), have written the wrapper function. That all was compilled without errors.
    But when I execute the wrapper function I get in SQL*Plus my custom Error-Message from Java Code "Not able to connect to oracle".
    The oracle driver classes are owned by sys. Should SYS grant to the user any special rights with dbms_java.grant_permission?
    Or is it any other way to connect to the database, in which the java classes are loaded? The user is connected with SQL*Plus. The Java Classes are owned by the user. Should I use JDBC to connect to the same database?
    Best regards,

    Hi
    You don't need to re-connect... Have a look here...

    SatishRightly or wrongly, as far as i know some WDP providers are provding WDP courses at 11g ... this may only be in some countries. (I think WDP only provides Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I and II), but WDP programme can be a law unto itself). It may be an eligible 11g SQL is now available via WDP ... which might make a mockery of hands on training).
    ( My understanding back a few years ago at 9i WDP has to complete a complete end-to-end training track .... he width of the training perhapa compensating for possibly more guarenteed quality training from OU.
    Anyway to answer your question .... a 10g course will not be acceptable for 11g DBA certification. (However in general most 11g courses should be acceptable for 10g DBA or 9i DBA certification).

    Hi All,
    I am manually upgrading our databases from 10gR2 to 11g. However, near the end of the catupgrd.sql script (right before it configures Intermedia) it disconnected. Now what I want to know is that could just run the last few scripts that need to be run that are run as part of the catupgrd script or would I have to re-run the whole catupgdr.sql script? Because the script took three hours for me and I am running a little short on time.

    Now we are planning to migrate our database from 10gR2 to 11g R2. But now we are not going to migrate our Application server. We are continued to use same 10gR2 application server.
    Please provide me what are the pre-checks/ Checklist/ knows issues/ obsolete features i must taken care before and after migrate- from the forms&reports developer and application server admin point of view.
    for example some where i seen that the DB Password for 11g is case sensitive so we have to set a variable in form env file like that.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    As a general rule, most sql will perform as fast (or faster) on 11gR2 than 10gR2 - there will always be exceptions that's depends upon each one's application So best choice is to perform a test to ur whole project application. Because as u will find out may be someone has a problem but will not face u because of different application, concepts of handeling a solution for the bussiness requiremnets of the end use but it's nice Step to Rethink before u will be in a problem to pre-consider i appreciate :)

    I want konw the oracle10g devloper suite work with winds7 or not The answer is no, refer to metalink/MOS:
    Forms / Reports Builder 10gR2 or 11g Certification on MS Windows 7 [ID 1112213.1]
    Either you upgrade Forms to 11g or you downgrade the OS to XP or Vista (but not to Home editions).

    Hi
    We are currently using Oracle EBS 12.1.3 on Microsoft Windows 2003 32-Bit. We are planning to migrate to linux. I have gone through the certification matrix and the following versions certified with Oracle EBS 12.1.3
    1. Linux x86 Oracle Linux 5
    2. Linux x86 Oracle Linux 4
    3. Linux x86 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

  • PDF reports and forms11g, Weblogic, call report from form, parameters

    Hi All.
    I had difficulty to put to work reports 11g on pdf format. this is how I solve it.
    I hope help any of you and also anyoe can correct me if Im wrong.
    1. I have installed an configured the weblogic server 10.3.3, also Forms, Reports, Portal, Discoverer 11.1.1.3.0 and database 11.2
    2. I re-compiled my forms and reports 10gR2 on 11g, also the pll libraries.
    3. This is how I call the report from my form, I add parameters to a parameter list called PL then invoke the rp2rro prucedure that is located at rp2rrp.pl library:
    PL := create_parameter_list(TDATA);
    add_parameter(PL,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
    add_parameter(PL,'ORIENTATION',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PORTRAIT');
    add_parameter(PL,'EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANY);
    add_parameter(PL,'NB_EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANYNAME);
    add_parameter(PL,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,:CG$CTRL.DESFORMAT);
    rp2rro.SETREPORTSSERVER(:GLOBAL.REPORTSERVER);
    add_parameter(PL,'SESION',TEXT_PARAMETER,TO_CHAR(SESION));
    Add_Parameter(pl, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'SCREEN');
    rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product(REPORTS, :CG$CTRL.REPORT_TYPE, SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, PL, NULL);
    destroy_parameter_list(PL);
    4. when pr2rro gets the parameter list (PL) did not find the Desformat parameter that I sent from the form. so I edit the pr2rro.pll library. this is the zone of the code edited:
    (just added the number var "Desfn" that the get_parameter_attr() will need above.
    PACKAGE BODY rp2rro IS
         /* Package variables */
    rp2rroDesformat varchar2(30);
         rp2rroDesname varchar2(200);
         rp2rroDestype varchar2(30);
         rp2rroReportOther varchar2(2000):='';
    rp2rroComm_mode number := Synchronous;
         rp2rroReportServer varchar2(100);
         rp2rroVirtualDir          varchar2(100);
    rp2rroReportsInterface varchar2(30);
    /* this line by ingenio*/
         Desfn                    number;
    5. a couple of lines above, you can find this:
    (here I added get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat); to asign the value of the parameter called Desformat to the rp2rroDesformat var)
    PROCEDURE rp2rro_run_product(product NUMBER,reportFile VARCHAR2,commMode NUMBER,engine NUMBER,fileLocation NUMBER,mparamlist_id ParamList,display VARCHAR2) IS
    BEGIN
         /* Handle only calls to Reports */
         /* this line by ingenio*/
    get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat);
              IF product = REPORTS THEN
              Handle_rp2rro_run_product(product, reportFile,commMode,engine,fileLocation,mparamlist_id);
              END IF;
    END;
    Its now working fine with PDF, RTF, HTML, Delimited formats, Not with EXCEL(spreadsheet) Im working in that.
    I accept any help.
    Thanlks

    I solved my problem editing the rp2rro.pll library,I debugged the library and I found the format sent by forms was missing, so I catch it and set it directly:
    GET_PARAMETER_ATTR(mparamlist_id, 'DESFORMAT',vnumb,vvalue);
                   setDesformat (vvalue);

  • Upgrading Oracle RAC from 10.0.2.3 to 10.0.2.4 on HP-UX

    Hi all,
    I have to apply 10.0.2.4 patch to Oracle RAC that running on HP-UX system. I'm inexperienced with this subject. What is your suggestions and recommendations about this? Can you share the your own roadmap and your experience?
    Regards,
    Alper.

    Hi Alper,
    a good starting point for upgrades are the Oracle Upgrade Companions for 10gR2 and 11g - they cover best practices and behaviour changes:
    Note.466181.1- 10g Upgrade Companion
    Note.601807.1 - Oracle 11g Upgrade Companion
    Kind regards

  • Oracle ODBC Driver adds bind variable when browsing whole table in Access

    Hi, we are looking for some reasons why we may see this behavior in the Oracle ODBC driver (10gR2 and 11g) when using Microsoft Access (2003 or 2007)...
    1) Link a table from the Oracle database.
    2) Double-click the newly linked table to "browse" it.
    Oracle sends the following statement to the server:
    {color:#0000ff}select * from linked_table where primary_key = :b1{color}
    It then proceeds to read the entire table.
    If I tell Microsoft Access that there is no primary key, the query gets sent as:
    {color:#0000ff}select * from linked_table{color}
    And the query comes back as soon as the first 100 or so rows are fetched which is quite quickly.
    ADDITIONAL NOTES:
    1) If the table has a primary key or unique constraint, Microsoft Access automatically assigns that as the primary key.
    2) We can stop the behavior in #1 if we wrap a view around it which prevents Access from discovering that information and then it prompts for a primary key definition.
    3) If we use the Microsoft ODBC driver, the bind variable is not added no matter what the primary key defintiion is.
    We're stumped and are looking for solutions and/or workarounds without having to wrap all of our tables in views to hide the fact that there is a primary key.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Thanks for the response, Greg.
    The specific question I am seeking an answer for (sorry it was not clear on my first message) is this:
    Why does the Oracle driver add the bind variable to the query only when the primary key is defined?
    The Microsoft ODBC driver does not add the bind variable with or without a primary key defined.
    You asked how I traced this statement and what I am doing is launching the query in Access and then using TOAD to view the V$SESSION and V$SQL_TEXT_WITH_NEWLINES views. All I do is change the driver. This is just for a simple browse table (double-click on the table) which should send
    select * from table
    However, whenever I use the Oracle ODBC driver (with a primary key defined) it sends
    select * from table where primary_key = :1
    If I remove the primary key on the table definition, the Oracle driver sends
    select * from table
    What is it about the primary key that could cause that behavior?
    I don't think it is the MDAC/Jet level because this is the conversion to the native SQL statement not the Jet version. I know the Oracle driver has to do that part because you have those workaround options like don't add the RULE hint, etc. That's not part of the Jet engine.
    Hope that helps. I'm just baffled over this one and wish I knew where to go next.
