New (1.5) add(*) method does not always equal to getContentPane().add(*);
Just came across something people might not be aware of,
The add(*) method provided in 1.5 does not always produce the same result as getContentPane().add(*)...
Setting the contentPane (of a JFrame) to a JTabbedPane should mean that when you "add" a component (using the add(somComponent)) you get (according to the documentation) a tab whose text defaults to c.getName(). However, when you call add(someComponent) you get no tab text....changing the call to getContentPane().add(someComponent) brings it back...

How do I REMOVE an ADD-ON from my TOOLBAR, when said ADD-ON does NOT show up in my ADD ONS Manager?
I have been instructed to:
"When you open Firefox up in the left hand corner there is a drop down box that says "Firefox". Click on this and go to add-ons a new page will open with tabs on the side.
Click on ADD-ONS, use ADD-ON Manager...."
That does not happen that way. (I am on Firefox 19.0 for MAC.)
When I click on Firefox (left hand corner at top of screen) "ADD-ONS" does NOT appear.
I get "preferences" and "services" plus, of course ABOUT/HIDE/SHOW/QUIT choices.
Running through ALL choices in PREFERENCES (which was not included as a step in your description) I find NO WAY to "deal with" ADD-ONS in General, Security, Privacy or Advanced.
"services" says only NO SERVICES APPLY"
I KNOW that I have an "ADD-ON Manager" I can open that. The ADD-ON that I need to REMOVE/Uninstall/Disable does NOT show there.
It is an ICON on the lowest level of my toolbars showing above my window. Whether this is an awesome bar, or any other specially named bar I can't tell you, but: LOWEST section.
This creepy ADD-ON (that I never personally installed) is called PRICEGONG - and it is now opening up a pop-up on all my eBay pages and elsewhere -trying to sell me things.
It is wasting SO much of my time and I need to get it gone.
WHAT do I do now? The PRICEGONG company has explanation of what to do to uninstall, but (no surprise) THEIR instructions/steps do not match reality either. RESULT: I can't get RID of this thing and am wasting huge amounts of time now with it.
WHAT CAN I DO?hello, the addons manager is exactly the right place to look for it. please try disabling the addons that are listed there one-by-one (a restart of the browser might be necessary after each step). maybe one of them is bundling this kind of adware.

TDMS Excel Add-in Does not support new Excel 2007 Row Limit
First off I would like to say the TDM/TMDS format is really useful. It allows you to do all kinds of things that would be a real pain if you tried to do it with tab delimited spreadsheets. You can format data into excel sheets for analysis with seperate tabs and channel names over the columns and the whole nine yards. You can even throw error messages into the properties that show up on the first tab.
The problem occurs when the user is working with really large files. Excel 2003 and all previous versions of Excel have limits of 65,536 rows by 256 columns. Until the latest version of the TDM Excel Add-in if you tried to import files larger than this it would throw an error and wouldn't create any file at all. Now it imports a file and you specify the index, which is so much better.
Excel 2007 supports 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns! This is really useful. But the current version of the TDM Excel Add-In does not support the new row limit. Is there any way we can get a version of this for 2007 that supports the new row limits? It would be cool if the Add-in could auto-detect the version and change the import limits accordingly but that may be too much to ask. Has anyone else run into these problems?
My client would like to record hour long files at 200Hz all day long. Thats 720,000 rows of data per file. Yes, thats a lot but excel can handle it. The TDMS importer cannot. Of course there are work arounds and we will have to use one if a new version of the TDM Excel Add-in is not made soon. Is there a new version coming? Please say yes.

Go to Solution.I redownloaded the file. I couldnt figure out how to completely uninstall the verison of the TDM importer already installed, so I just tried to install the one i downloaded. The installer said "no software will be installed or removed" and I had to click cancel because there was no next option.
I tried to import the data again with the importer and got the same 'selective import' dialog box again, limiting me to the 65,535 rows.
Here is what I am getting.
How do I uninstall the add-in so that I may reinstall it?

A little more information about the tdms file
The data is 14 columns of single precision float and is about 720k rows. There are four sections (sheets in the same excel document) with the data converted differently in each tab/section. The data is the same amount in each section as well. There are also a couple sections listing the constants and scalars used to convert the data, as well as the typical first page of tdms information about the data.

My iPhone does not always send iMessages to other iPhones who have their iMessages on. Most times I text a new contact with an iPhone first, they show up as regular text messages. How can I fix this?
Yes to receive an iMessage the recipient would need an iOS device (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and an internet connection. This is a messaging serviceprovided by Apple so the recipient does not need to check emails. If the contact does not have internet access at the time the iMessage is sent then a normal SMS through your carrier can be sent instead if you have "Send as SMS" turned on in Settings>Messages.

Can I not add images to my itunes from Google images or other search engines as when I click get artwork it does not always work. I used to be able to do this.
The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

My iPhone 4 with the new OS does not always ring
Since I upgraded to the latest OS my iPhone does not always ring, and also the Ringer icon that comes up when you adjust the volume does not indicate if it's going up or down.
Has anyone seen this before and/or has a solution ?Ensure that Do Not Disturb is not on in Control Center.
If a Bluetooth headset is connected, all audio is directed to the headset.
Clean the dock connector with a soft, dry brush.
Clean the headphone jack and try plugging/unplugging a pair of headphones several times.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If none of the above resolves the issue, take the device to Apple for evaluation. -

Ok i did what you said to and it did it again, I am at work. Phone is on my desk. I clicked the home button to see if I had missed any messages and it would not turn on.
Starnge thing is this happened to my other 5S. Took it to apple. They replaced it, Now this phone is doing the same thing, Could it be the software?

For some reason when I call my containsKey() method on my HashMap it does not use my defined equals method in my defined key class. Do hashmaps have their own tricky way for establishing whether two keys are equal or not?

You can write hashCode to just always return, say, 42. It will be correct because all objects that are equal will have equal hashcodes. Objects that are not equal will also have equal hashcodes, but that's legal--it just causes a performance hit.
The value is that it's really really simple to implement: public int hashCode() {
return 42;
} So you can use it temporarily while you're concentrating on learning other stuff, or during debugging as a way to confirm that the hashCode is not the problem. (Returning a constant from hashcode(), rather than computing a value, is always legal and correct, so if something's behaving wrong, and you replace your hashCode method with the one above, and it still breaks, you know hashCode isn't the problem.)
The downside is that you're defeating the purpose of hashing, and any non-trival sized map or set is going to have lousy performance.

As you can see there is no sign of the actionListener... :(You may completely misunderstand something.
Don't worry even if you can't see the actionListener in the html.

When i download a new app on ipad it does not show up on iphone
I have icloud turned on on my ipad and iphone but when i download a new app on my ipad or iphone it does not always show up on the other. Its getting very aggravating and I have no idea how to fix this!!!!!!!!!
Make sure the app is supported on both devices. Some apps are iPad only. Also make sure they are supported by the iOS version on each device if they are running different versions of iOS.
Turn on automatic downloads on both devices:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Select items you want to download automatically fom the Automatic Downloads section -

CPlayerLib.js judge() -> showFeedbackCaptionAndDoAction() javascript method does not draw the Feedback Caption consistently
sometime the feedback does not appear, I see it in the dom tree but the canvas is not drawn, the Div capturing the click is always present. Strangely when I scroll the page a bit it shows up.
ThanksOk I found a way to fix it.
In CPlayerLib.js cp.show method in the for loop within the if (htmlItem) I added a setTimeout(function() { htmlItem.style.webkitTransform = "scale3d(1,1,1)"},100) and it now force the canvas to repaint.

The AVG Safe Search add-on has caused this for some, if you have that one try disabling it. -

Thanks so much for your reply but that won't help in my current situation. Maybe I didn't make it clear. The latest version of Quicktime as new as it sounds doesn't support screen recording on a powermac G5 Motorola chip with OS 10.5.8 which is the highest os I can go with that machine. If I can sync the two computers so I can get the application to record from my newer computer then I'm ok. I just don't have the recording application for audio that I'm using to demo for the website on the laptop as it's about 10,000 dollars. So, I have to use the older computer to do the audio presentation and try to get the newer computer synced to it so I can use the new version that works on snow leopard to record a screen shot that will hopefully appear on my laptop instead of the old machine. Hope that makes sense. It's a bit confusing but in a nutshell it's like this:
1. I am a Pro Tools Instructor which is the state of the art application and recording device for audio and movie scoring and I have a new job where I make small snippets of tips using Pro Tools which I'd like to record with quicktime on screen as they happen
2. the best version of Quicktime Pro available for the Power Mac, OS 10.5.8 will not do screen recording on it.
3. I can use the Quicktime application from my newer laptop but I need to sync it to the old machine
4. I'm hoping but I don't know, if I do this, that I can record Pro Tools in action from my new machine buy seeing it on this laptop screen and then recording it with the new quicktime.
5. If I can sync the two computers, I'm hoping this can happen but I can't use my ethernet connection as I have it used to connect to my recording console and can't afford to buy anything new like an ethernet hub yo connect the two so I'm hoping that there's another way to connect them.
