New analysis XML customizedcriteria 11.1.1.5.0

Hi,
I create an analysis and I change subject area in XML with a presentation variable. So I have one report for different subject areas (Subject area's have same dimensions but different members, so my report works fine). Depending prompt it shows elements of one subject area or another.
When I modify my XML I can see that report changes: SimpleCriteria to CustomizedSqlCriteria in XML Code
If I create a simply conditional format in my report in one column with some filter like: FILTER(measure USING Scenario=Actual)
I see this error in my dashboard page:
Assertion failure: nFields == m_tPreknownMetadata.numFields() at line 78 of C:\ADE\aime_2\bifndn\analytics_web\main/project/webtable/preknownmetadatatable.cpp

I´m facing same problem at the moment. The main cause seems to be the conditional format.
My condition is based on a hidden calculated column which returns color codes based on a case when statement.
Calculated colum formula:
CASE WHEN table1.column1 > table2.column1 THEN 'green' WHEN table1.column1 < table2.column2 THEN 'red' ELSE 'yellow' END
My conditional format uses this codes to set the background color for the other column. This worked in OBIEE 10 without problems but not in 11g (11.1.1.6.0).
Conditional formats based on normal columns (without calculation/statements) work as expected.

New to XML and Oracle

Just trying to clarify some issues as I try and learn about XML, and specifically how it integrates into the DB.
1 - Is there a way with Oracle tools for me to get an XSD of an existing 9i relational schema? We are not currently using the XML DB, but our middleware developers would like to have an up to date XSD to use for their internal mapping.
2 - Is there any way that I can keep that XSD up-to-date automatically, so I get a new one whenever the schema gets updated?
3 - If I wanted to investigate storing XML docs within the DB in native XML format, I need to have an XML DB, correct? Is this DB construct maintained seperatelly from my "normal" relational schema? or are they kept in sync by Oracle?
I know these may all be real basic questions, but as I said, I'm new to XML and Oracle. I am reading as much as I can, but there are a lot of docs out there.

1. On my opinion such a tool doesn't exists. Some parts can be implemented elsewhere, but not as described by you... e.g. with XSU if you specify the parameter "withschema" the XSD of the executed statement is generated. Another example is to use DBMS_METADATA to dump the data dictionary in XML (but not XSD, of course you could write your own XSLT to do this transformation...).

3. If you use XSD-based tables the XSD and the relational model are stored separately in the data dictionary. Therefore if you change the XSD you have to drop/create the XSD-based table... no schema evolution yet.

New to XML+Java: which is the best API?

Hi,
I am new to XML+Java and I am trying to develop an application that will both read and write to an XML file. After reading some tutorials, I decided that jaxp, sax, and org.w3c.dom.* are rather low-level and very unfriendly.
After a cursory web search, I came to the conclusion (please correct me if I am wrong) that JDOM and DOM4J are the most easy-to-use free APIs. So I would like to ask which one of the two (or any other API) is the "best"? With "best" I mean larger user base, better documentation, more features, less bugs, active development community (i.e. if a bug gets discovered, it will be fixed). I don't want to start building my application, just to realise 6 months later that the API I've chosen is very limited.

Thanks guys. It seems that there is no clear answer as to which one should I use.
I will start using dom4j because it has more convenience methods and it heavily uses JCF, which I am very comfortable with. Although it seems that the learning curve is steeper (more complicated API) it is probably worth the effort.

OBIEE 11G weblogic admin user cannot create new Analysis

Hi,
I have deployed a new RPD and can log into the Presentation services using the weblogic Administrator account. I can see the dashboards and reports.
When I attempt to go to Answers (expecting a link for New -> Analysis), I don't see that link. Seems like this user does not have permissions to create new Analysis.
Checking on WLS, I found that my weblogic user is entered under the following three groups:
Administrators
BIAdministrators
BIAuthors
What am I missing ?

Can you try this?
1. Login to obiee and append the URL with Managegroups ( http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Managegroups)
2. Select the "Presentation Server Administrators" group
3. Edit -> search user and add it to this group.
4. Login with the user added and check if he can "Administrator --> mange catalog and permission".

How to add Saved Filter to my new analysis, not in left side catalog pane?

I have set up a set of filters which i have saved in the /Shared Folders/Filters directory (i created a Filters directory there). The analysis where i created this saved filter works just fine.
Now i start a new analysis and i try to add the filter by navigating within the Catalog pane in the lower left corner. But there isn't anything in there by the few top level directories. I don't see any other objects, including sub-folders, analyses, etc.
I don't understand why i do not see anything at all. When i use the top/main Catalog link, of course i see all sorts of analysis, filters, prompts, etc., which i have in my environment.
How can i add my Saved Filter to my new analysis if i can't find it in the Catalog pane, and why is that (or anything) showing up in that pane?

Thanks.Is the new analysis in the same Subject Area? Saved Filters are tied to Subject Areas so if the SA is different, you won't see it.

Hide New Analysis in Portal

Hi All,
I want to diable or hide the New Analysis button when a query is displayed. But I could not locate it in any iview templates under templates in Content Administration. Could anyone tell me the steps to make this button invisible in all my quey layout? (I just need to set the property Visible to False in the template, but can't find the right one).

Error Message when I click on "Roles" Tab in BeX Portal New Analysis.

Hello,
When I go to the BeX Portal -> BeX Web Analyzer -> New Analysis -> Roles, I get the following error:
"Components XXX (version A) do not exist on the database
Components XXX (version D) do not exist on the database
Components XXX (version M) do not exist on the database"
When I click on the messages, the screen that comes up gives the following info:
"Diagnosis
You have attempted to open query XXX from the Query Designer. However, this query does not exist in the database in the system to which you have made a connection.
System Response
Opening the query was terminated.
Procedure
Make sure that you have connected to the correct BW system. Note: The query may have been deleted by another user."
But there have been no query deletions after the Role tab moved in.
Please suggest what could be the reason behind this. And what should be done to resolve this.

Try using table RSZELTDIR
This contains details on queies and all elements that make up the query such as variable, key figs etc..
In the error you should be getting a string someting like: D19UMFAK5JTYJ31B30BRGSQEU
In this table I would recomend just taking the first 8 or so cahracters of this string followed by *
ie: D19UMFAK* - in the ID selection field.

No variable Screen when accessing web reports via "New analysis" button

I need some help or explanation :
I'm on a web report (Java) and i want to access another report.
I click on the "new analysis" button on the top, then i open the "roles" folder and select a report.
The new report start but without the prompt screen with the variable selection.
I also saw that the URL shown on Internet explorer is the old one (not the new querie URL)
This is the same problem with all my queries when accessing them via the "new analysis" menu.
Why is this screen squeezed ?
I need to have these variable entries !
I've tried some modification on 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN .... (porperties / variable) = no effect

Can't expand the folders under the shared folder in catalog new analysis?

When i am trying to create a new Analysis and in the catalog section when i expand the shared folder i can only see one level the folders under neath the shared folders cannot expand the folders under the parent folders. for example i have three main folders under shared folders Finance, Marketing and Customer when i try to expand the finance folder it doesn't expand and when i try to open marketing it expands by it doesn't show anything in those folders but when i try to open the folders directly from home --> catalog--> shared folders--> Finance--> ..... it shows every thing under those folders folders sub folders and all that stuff. I am hoping it is not something to do with permissions because i am able to open here. Please advice

If you do not have an object saved in the folder it will not dispaly the folder when you are in Answers navigating through the folder structure. Ensure you have saved at least one object (Prompt/Report) in the folder.

New to xml, simple communication

I'm new to xml and as a uni project i've been asked to get two independent programs to communicate via xml. Specifically i am looking to exchange data contained in the databases maintained by each program.

So, is your question "How do I read and write XML files" or is it "How do I communicate between two systems"? Either of those are really too vague to be answered on a forum, but the combination of both is hopeless.

NEW TO XML AND JAVA

hi, I'm new to xml, actually I'm taking a course in xml and I should choose a certain project related to xml.
I want to ask about xml and java
the things that I know about java is some classes ( I made a program of bouncing ball in java and changed some java game programs). but I need to know how to use java in databases and how to relate it to xml
Is it too dificult or I can learn it knowing that I'm ready to learn and already I'm learning xml.

New to XML - what can XML and java do thogether - brief examples please

I am new to XML and relatively new to Java, thought not new to programming. I am still trying to figure out what can XML do for me in practical terms and when I should use it. Thanks for any examples of when to use XML in conjunction with Java.

xml : Think of it in terms of business solutions, the way you would think of HTML for drawing fun web-pages.
java : If you know anything about databases you would know you can embed java with sql E.T.C.
Therefore because of the fast response times and the amount of constant interaction for business purposes you will need a database type that is strong to handle XML, therefore with such new technology you will be able to use xml databases with java too.
