New and in need of help....

Dear all,
I am new to Java and am currently trying to program my first application. As it is my first 'real' project I have decided to keep it as simple as possible. The purpose of the project is to allow a user to view information about a particular person i.e. name, age, address, d.o.b etc... in different text fields. The information about each person is stored in a text file and read into several arrays for the program to use...
So far the program is displaying all the information in seperate text fields, each with an appropriate label. There is also a choice box which contains the name of the person. When a different name is selected in the choice box the other text fields are updated with the relevant, corresponding information for that person. So far so good..
However, I am now at the stage where I want to be able to edit the various text fields (and choice box..?) to allow information about people to be changed and updated. I would also like to be able to create new people and some way add them to the data storage text file. I would also like to be able to delete people entirely from the data file. This is where I am stuck, creating, updating, and deleting information, via the user interface, to be stsored back in the original data text file..,phew!
Does anyone have any good ideas?...before I go nuts..

The information in the data text file looks like this:
Name (tab) Age (tab) Address (tab) dob (tab) sex
Name (tab) Age (tab) Address (tab) dob (tab) sex
Name (tab) Age (tab) Address (tab) dob (tab) sex
Name (tab) Age (tab) Address (tab) dob (tab) sex
and so on....
where each Name, Age etc.. is an actual name.
The (tab) is just a tab space, which appears blank in the string. It is being used to seperate the string into each part i.e. name, age etc.. Each thing is then got from the data file. I was going to use String Tokenizer but this method is working so I dont really want to change it now.

New and in need of a lot of help

Hi guys I think i have G3 i don't really know what all that means but i still need your help. I have never even touched an apple computer before so bear with me please. I have a linksys SRX 200 wireless router and I need to know if I can get the apple to work with it. I really don't want to have run wires through the house just to get internet. Airport cards are expensive as they are in limited supply and USB dongles are unreliable (and if you are still using OS 9 probably impossible to find a driver).
I'd look at alternative technology like the Ethernet over Mains (much faster than even Airport Extreme and then you've got Ethernet supplied to every room in the house).

New to flex, need some help

Hello, I am a new user of Flex 4 and have recently gone thru the training courses available here (Flex in a week). I have been tasked with moving some of our firm's webpages that use jsp and spring to connect to a mysql database to a flex frontend.
I've been looking over the BlazeDS tutorial (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/spring_blazeds_testdrive.html) and it seems rather helpful, but I could use some help in how to make a connection to a mysql database on an external server-- where does the connection info go, user name, password, etc.
In a nutshell, the application I am to design would need to be able to go out to a database to first verify user credentials, then to upload csv files and store the data into a database, and finally allow users to retrieve the data in datagirds and display in basic bar charts. Thanks to the training, I have a good understanding on using the datagrid, but the connecting to an external database is where I'm having trouble.
Also, I have seen a flex webpage where data is displayed in a chart and the user can export the chart as a jpg or export the input data to a csv file. Is anyone familiar with this capability?

You need to create an Client/Server-application with 3-tiers client, application server (Java/Hibernate/Spring) and database server (MySQL for example).
Just buy a book over Flex and Java and read it.

IPhoto lost after leopard installation- new Mac user needs your help!!

First, let me state: BRAND NEW MAC USER- BEWARE!
Just got a new mac for Christmas (refurbished). It came with iPhoto. My first call was to technical support about issues installing Leopard. After we resolved those problems, iPhoto was gone (as well as several other less essential things like checkers, etc). Since I installed Leopard, do I now need to repurchase iLife or iPhoto? iPhoto was the real reason we bought the system- I'm dying to use it but it has vanished. I know so many people have posted questions about similar issues but they all seemed to have existing libraries that aren't working correctly. So forgive me if this is a repeat questions but I'd really appreciate the help. Take pity on a very new and very lost user... Thank you!

You need to re-install iPhoto from the system restore disks that came with your Mac. Choose to install the bundled applications only.

Recently i bought a brand new k7n2 delta L and i need some advice on how to overclock with this new mobo, with the km2m it was piece of cake but this is a little bit more complete. Are ports 1521 (for JDBC) and 2481 (for IIOP) open on your firewall? That's what my problem turned out to be.

I'm not that good with computers and I need some help....

I downloaded Adobe Reader 9.3.3 for windows 7 so I could print out sheet music (pdf file). When I try to open it using Adobe Reader, this pops up:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association for this program in the Default Programs control panel"
and I need to know what to do, to fix it. It might be a small problem, but I have no idea what to do. so could someone tell me in detail, how I'm supposed to fix this? thanks,

FF has an extention that can be used to increase the conection speed. Its called Tweak Network 1.1 I see a difference on my iMac G5. Its not huge but it may be a big difference on yours.

No, it doesn't have claim code. Only printers with ePrint enable/ready have claim codes.

I'm a very new user and I need some help!

I have recently started a new job and our website is managed through Dreamweaver, which I know nothing about. I was getting along until I was given a new computer. We installed a new version of Dreamweaver and when I launched it for the first time I was expecting to be able to see the local and remote sites, the way I could on the old computer. However, the remote site was not available. Please forgive my ignorance, and I did hunt for this info in the tutorials etc, but if I am communicating with the remote site, shouldn't all those files be listed without me having to put them there?

Hello, I just bought a MacBook, and it was an open box item that didn't come with any manuals or restore discs. I'd like to get a copy of restore discs to re-format everything since the computer was a display. Does anybody know how to go about getting them? I know the discs are very specific to what model MacBook you have. Thanks in advance for your help...

The manuals you can get online but the restore disks you will need to call the store. If that fails call apple support and tell them what has happened and they will advise you on what to do. If this fails you could by a copy of lepard and you can reformat the HD and reinstall lepard.
