New flash designer

i have to objects in illustrator that i want in my flash
movie. some of these objects contain blends and illustrator
effects. is it wise to import the vector files, or should i create
bitmaps of these objects?

sometimes vector based programs ..like Flash ....when drawing
an illustration ...like a cartoon character lets say
will create vector points in places where you dont actually
need them
it's good practice to take your sub-selection tool & go
through the illustration
& remove as many vector point's as possible & use the
optimize option ...as much as possible
sometimes this can become very tedious ...but when you get
the hang of it
you will be amazed as to ..how much file size you save

  • News "FLASH"... Nancy O (the legend) ... i need help again

I am trying to put a banner on my website for my exam.... It will have to have an image with logos flashing across and stopping for a few seconds before carrying on.and out the other side.  I have looked up everywhere to see how this is done but with no joy. There is lots of info out there but it is not working for me.  In Flash i have no problem creating a banner image with various logos moving  from one side to the other or even changing the image from one shape to another or bouncing it up and down the stage from one side to the other. I can even stagger the timelines for the logos to make them enter one after the other. The one thing i can not get to grips with is making the images stop or pause after they have entered from one side before exiting  the other side. I have followed step by step many  youtube tutorials but the authors are wizzing through them too fast and despite folling every step second by second, i  am missing a vital step somewhere.   Would someone please let me know step by  step (and please assume i am an idiot when doing this) the sequence i must follow from the very begining to the last step when i publish.

Noooooooo........ When i saw your email notification i had high hopes of getting the answer i have been trying to work out for two days....but no problem ..your still a legend ha ha ... you got me out of a big hole in this project the last time... but thanks for taking the time to reply, i will try the other forum.

Sorry.  I don't do much Flashy stuff anymore.  As far as I'm concerned, when Apple iDevices quit supporting Flash, it became a dying web technology.

  • Newer flash player not opening SWFs

    Hi Everyone
I'm a teacher and am having problem opening student SWF files. I believe many of my students are still in Flash CS6, or perhaps CS5.
I have Flash CC installed. It looks like my Flash Player is 11.7.700.169. But I also have Flash Player 11.4.402.265, which from what I understand is the Flash CS6 player??
When I try to open their SWF to view, it just closes immediately. I can open the .FLA fine., although when this has happened it looks like students have used TLF text, and I get a message from Flash CC saying this is unsupported. But if they have done anything with fonts I don't have, I can't see their work as intended. This is an intro class, so they really haven't learned about embedding yet.
My hunch is that the TLF text won't run in the newer Flash player. But I'm wondering why the SWF doesn't then come up okay with version 11.4xxx.  Any ideas on what I can do ?

when you right click and click on the swf, you're using your stand-alone flash player.  most people don't keep those players updated.
if you wanted to updated your standalone player, you can go here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
and install the projector player for mac.
in any case, you cannot see any student's original design (that contains unembedded fonts) unless you open their fla in flash pro>and confirm there are no missing fonts detected by flash.
if missing fonts are detected open their fla in flash pro>view the list of missing fonts displayed by flash pro>download and install those fonts>restart flash and then open their fla and confirm there are no missing fonts.
you can now open their swf in any flash player you have installed (as long as you see no message about needing an updated flash player).

  • How can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website?

Can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website? My customer do not want the JSP UI. Instead, he wants a completely new designed Flash site. Is it possible to do it? How can I deploy a new portal to cover the current one?

If you have a look at some of the code examples which do the equivalent of site maps, you could in theory replace the whole portal desktop with some sort of Flash framework which reads the user's role structure at run time.
I think it is useful to remember that the SAP portal is primarily a business application launchpad. It does that very well. Trying to make it into a Flash launchpad will be challenging.

  • New flash version?

I heard Adobe will release a new version of Flash designed for animators? Is this true? Here in the studio we still use Flash CS3. In CS4 there are files that take 30 minutes to open. We had some issues with CS5 to when opening files created in CS3, like masks not working.. So I hope there will be a lighter version specific for animation, or we'll probably move to ToonBoom.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

They're soooo desperate to attract the best that the cheque book is

I posted earlier in a different forum about design
patterns. I was able to find one new source, and I
knew about the Head First Design Patterns. Please,
is there another comprehensive catalog that has Java
code examples of patterns like: composite/iterator,
observer, decorator, template etc..?Yes, Java itself has lots of these built into the language: java.util.Observer, java.util.Iterator.
    java.io.InputStream is a Decorator.
The java.sql package is all Template or Strategy stuff, right?

I am very new to this and appreciate your help sincerely. If you really understand the patterns you should start looking for them in your own code.

  • Urgent: Flash design in published html and swf damaged after few more steps

hi everyone, i really need your help and really appreciate your quick reply! my flash design crashes! i published everytime i finished few steps. first few publications in html/ swf were okay, but after a few new steps the things all went wrong: the button went missing, the whole did not stop at frame1 as in my action script, some of the images went missing... i then deleted new steps hoping to get the thing back to normal, but it remained. after every futile effort i did (restarted pc, republished, saved as...), i suspected that there are BUGS whether in flash or in my pc, i did an experiment by simply creating a new layer and inserting an image in the layer, i published, and this time all the images has gone! Can i send you the corrupted flash design for better explanation? I wish to hear from you soonest as i'm very urgent rushing for a project to pass up today! Thanks in advance!

Perhaps the best lesson you can learn from this is to save often and give the saved file a new name, fla_version1, fla_version2, etc.
You want to be able to go back to a previous version so you don't lose it all.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator

  • I can't install new Flash player on my Mac

problem with new Flash player installation on Mac 10.9.5 and Safari : it download, starts installing and stops at 81%.

Did you also try the offline installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg ?

  • I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player.  I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time

I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player.  I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time I try install the new player it is place in my Trash Folder and I can not get Player to work.  I did everything I was to install it correctly but it still does not install it correctly.  Can some help me.  Bob

Some MacBook Pro versions cannot be upgraded past 10.6.8; others are maxed out at 10.7.5. newer models can go all the way to 10.10. So it is important to know exactly what version you have--there may be close to 40 variants produced since the MB made its debut in 2006.
You can safely give us a snapshot of your model and its current config that will allow us to deternmmine your model and its upgrade potential, plus show it you have any software that may impede any upgrades. Please download and install this free utility:
    http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
It is secure and written by one of our most valued members to allow users to show details of their computer's configuration in Apple Support Communities without revealing any sensitive personal data.
Run the program and click the "Copy report to clipboard" button when it displays the results. Then return here and paste the report into a response to your initial post. It can often show if any harmful files/programs are dragging down your performance.
Remember that, on leaving OS10.6.8, you lose the ability to run older softare written for older PowerPC Macs (yours in Intel-based). Programs such as Office 2004 will no longer work (min of Office 2008 needed to work on newer OS versions), and AppleWorks will stop working completely

  • New flash player release breaks old installed flash player

    Hi there all
I work in a school in the UK and we have a very odd problem with flash player. When a new flash player is released it will stop the older flash player from working.
This happens on IE 7 and 8 (all XP)
For example on one of our PCs it states that "You have version 10,0,42,34 installed" if you go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ (latest version being 10.0.45.2 at time of post), but this has stopped any flash content from working.
On youtube it states "Hello, either you have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. "
On BBC iPlayer it states "You need to install Flash to play [name of video]"
We have given all staff restricted accounts and all students very restricted accounts so they cannot simply install itself.
We currently deploy the flash player via group policy but that doesn't help us when we have people baying for our blood because some teaching resources will not work
Anybody seen anything like this before? Could it be a group policy setting perhaps???
    Thanks in advance
    BMCC

    Hey to everyone
i found the answer in terms of allowing staff to upgrade themselves.
I have made a GPO with the following registry and file perms settings. I have given permission to members of office and staff sec groups which covers all of our staff. Then apply this gpo either the top level domain or to each OU where you have PCs that you would like staff to be able to upgrade flash for you.

  • Problems with the new flash version.

Turned on my computer (win 7, ff5) and found that both skype and youtube are crippled.
After some digging, it becomes clear that there has been a new flash version and im far from the only one with problems. I try to use the uninstaller - which works suspiciously quickly- and reinstall. I get a message saying that its already installed. When i try through firefox direct, it says an existing version may be in use.
So either the uninstaller or the installer is broken.
When on youtube for example, it alternates between telling me i need to update the plugin and to download  from adobe. I have now done this several times, following the instructions. No suscess.
Have tried to change the hardware accelleration off, but as i cant see anything thats flash.... its not going well.

    Is your Win7 32-bit or 64-bit?
    What files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash (32-bit) / C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash (64-bit) ?

  • Found 2 bugs in new Flash Builder 4.7

    Hello.
I've just migrated all of my large projects to the new Flash Builder 4.7 (from 4.6) and they all work well except for the 2 annoying issues:
    1. I don't know why, but FB no longer allows me to create "config" packages. It says "config is a reserved word in ActionScript and cannot be used." Wtf? I had lots of projects using such names in FB 4.6 and didn't have any issues with it. Is it a new rule in FB 4.7? If so - then why it was introduced and was introduced only now? ActionScript language and FB exist not the first year... Also after i migrated existent projects i see all "config" packages have non-standard "folder" icon in the source file tree (in the package explorer panel).
    2. There are strange warnings started to appear - "the import BLA-BLA-BLA is not used locally", but I am not blind - I see it is used just a little bit below in the code. What is wrong with this?
Please help as I am confused now about what to do... I waited for FB 4.7 for so long and now I think I will need to downgrade...

    Hi Infeter,
    For 1;
After the number of hours I have lost debugging issues where someone has inadvertently named a variable the same as a package that is on the root, so making it impossible for FB to discern whether I am talking about "aname.veryImportant" as the sub-package "veryImportant" of the package "aname" or the property "veryImportant" of the variable "aname", I welcome any and all new warnings of how a coder may inadvertently break Flash! So, if they are saying it is a reserved word, it is probably because there is a core class, variable or other such that will, at some point, bite you if you name something after it. This has always been the case with, for example "default" - default is a keyword that has real meaning for the compiler and you will not be allowed to define things as "default" because of the potential for confusion (are you issuing the "default" directive in a switch statement or are you referring to the "default" value in your class?). Given that FB has the frankly excellent "Refactor" function to allow you to easily rename packages, members and classes, I'd just be happy to rename the offending items and be glad to have saved myself several hours of painful debug later on.
    For 2;
I'm surprised you're seeing this warning for classes that are not used. I've found loads that were added in automatically over the years that simply are not used. I'm loving the way I can clean out about half my import statements now. The thing to do is to comment out the imports and check that everything still works. If it does, then you're laughing, you don't need them. If it triggers errors of not being able to locate the class, then I would put together a code snippet and add it as a comment to your bug report.

  • Adobe Support:  Please Read, New Flash Not Working

Adobe, please read this.  My Flash player is not working and I would be happy to help you troubleshoot.  I have a completely fresh install of Windows XP on a Dell Laptop and the new Flash Player is not working.  I am in the tech field so I will understand most of your requests...Here is my situation.
The problem began just after Christmas when I returned home from holidays and tried to watch videos, which I do all the time for both work and pleasure.  Videos would not play in a watchable manner...I could hear audio but video was completely choppy and unwatchable.  I researched and researched and implemented many suggestions but to no avail.  Thus, I COMPLETELY rebuilt my system from scratch.  (I needed to do this anyway since it had been 2 years.)
After the rebuild, on a completely fresh install of XP on a Dell D410 laptop (that was playing all videos just fine a week ago), I installed Firefox, went to youtube which prompted me to install Flash, and then had the exact same problem that I had before the complete reinstall of everything.  There are scarecely any variables here other than the Dell Laptop, a standard Windows XP SP2 build, Firefox and Flash.
I think I have narrowed this problem down to two things.  One, the new version of Flash.
It's choppy on youtube AND it's choppy on megavideo, the other place where I watch a lot videos.
I then tried on IE, which also prompted for the new version of flash, and also had the same problem.  Chrome--same result.
However, this problem cannot be a universal problem with Flash otherwise nobody would be able to watch any videos onlline.
This leads me to the second problem, which a complete hypothesis but it seems to be the only thing left:  my Dell laptop.
I have noticed that some of the other folks with reported problems, who mention their system type, are also using Dell laptops.  Mine is an older d410, but as I said, it was running every video just fine up until a week or so ago when all of the sites forced me to install the new version of Flash.  Most Dell laptops use a common video driver set and this is what is leading me to this conclusion.
So, could this be a problem with the new Flash and Dell laptops (or systems that use a common video driver)? As a reference point, my "display adapter" says "Mobile Intel (R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family".
Viewing videos is part of my job (and entertainment) and I cannot do anything right now.
Someone out there...please hlep.  Adobe, where are you?  We are here providing you with all of the information that you need....

Thank you for this response.  Apparently, Adobe does not provide support since this is a free product.
However, Adobe, I need your help.
In summary, I have a fresh build of Windows XP, SP2 on a Dell D410 and the Flash player does not work.  This affects at least 50% of the sites I visit.  Right now, I simply have the Flash Player uninstalled and can surf the net rapidly.  Once I install it, I am back to a crawl and still cannot affectively watch any videos (they all have extreme video choppiness but the audio is fine).
I need your help, Adobe.  Everything was working fine until 2 weeks ago.  It is unfair of you to distribute a product like this, force everyone to use it, and have it not work for some of us.
So far, this free product has cost me hundreds of dollars as a good part of my job is reviewing videos.
Many have suggested that I buy a new computer to fix the problem.
    Is this really necessary?
Adobe, I am a man in need...please help me...
(PS:  I am not the only one.  I have also entered my problem here http://www.google.pl/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=6039f438d085295f&hl=en&fid=6039f43 8d085295f00047c7e3182b625 to no avail.
And I have done more research than you can imagine.  Here are a number of sites where people are reporting problems with Flash:
Streaming videos are choppy all the sudden.... - CPUs - CPU-Components How do I resolve choppy/jerky video in Firefox? - YouTube Help Videos are choppy, Audio distorted. - YouTube Help DIYnot.com > Youtube stopped working "JavaScript turned off" youtube is not working - YouTube Help Flash sound stopped working. | Ask MetaFilter Anyone have problems with Youtube freezing? - Software - Non-Gaming - Discussion Forum | Eurogamer YouTube videos freeze after a second - Google Chrome Help My Comments on Video Problem Flash Player 10 memory leak!!   Graphics - Customized computer manufacturer graphics driver is detected AfterDawn.com: Guides: How to play FLV files Adobe Forums: Adobe Support: Please Read, New Flash... Obviously, I have still not found an answer to my problem.  Please help me.
    Thx,
    Richard)
