New install, config files empty?

I just installed arch64 on my laptop and went to configure the system and all the configuration files are empty.
Is this a sign that my laptop is unable to run arch or a sign I just have a bad burn?  Im currently downloading a new cd now

Rebooting and re-running setup from the same CD worked when it happened to me... And well, we know it's a bad install cause all the config is missing
well, you got it

  • Pacman command to re-install config files to pristine condition?

    I've messed up my Apache config files under /etc/httpd/...
    Is there a magic pacman command that will restore those files to their pristine condition as if it was a new installation?
    I've considered uninstalling apache and re-installing, but that will also uninstall all dependent packages, and I'd rather not do that.

    If you re-install the package it should create .pacnew files for all of the altered configuration files. If that is all that you have changed then overwriting the altered files with the .pacnew files will undo your changes.

  • Can create new cache with new cache config xml to existing cache server?

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding coherence cache.
    currently there is coherence cache server running with its own cache config file.
    Can I create another cache with new cache config file?
    If so, do I need add my own cache config file and pof file to the server?
    so during cache server start up, it can load cache config and pof config file?
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards
    Julia

    Yes, when you want to load your own cache configuration you can use something like
    export CLASSPATH=coherence.jar
    java -Xms512m -Xmx512m -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=my-cache-config.xml com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServerby using the system parameter tangosol.coherence.cacheconfig you can add your own cache configuration. Note that
    the POF configuration is loaded when you are referring to it in your cache configuration.

  • Replacing Time Capsule - can I save my old config file to use with new one?

    I have a Time Capsule backing up 3 of my Macs. A couple of nights ago, I started receiving the following: "sparsebundle” could not be created error 22
    on all 3 Macs.Time Machine application fails due to this error and if I access the Time Machine in Finder, I can see the 3 volumes but cannot go any deeper. I get the same sparsebundle error.
    A few minutes ago, my wife called me stating that her MBP gave her a backup error stating that the backup Volume name changed, continue or don't backup. Something weird is obviously going on. I also noticed that the TM fan was kicked up into high gear. I'm suspecting a hardware failure of some sort.
    Thoughts?
    If I do need to replace my TC, is there a way to save the config file from my old one and import/use it on a new TC if I have to purchase one? Would save me from entering a lot of wireless access devices since I use MAC filtering.

    Yes you can easily import/export settings ( I have 6 base stations so do this quite a lot - in fact I always export the configs as a backup anyway)
    As to your TC can you connect it locally and run Disk Utils to see if it need some repairs?

    Hi to all,
    Is there a way to create a new directory or file in

    I want a xml file to be created with in the application

    I have used the following code snippet:
    var file:File = new File();

    file = file.resolvePath("assets");
    if(!file.exists)
    file.createDirectory()
    I am thrown an exception when using this .....Security

    The data is not being deleted automatically when the

  • Restore files from time machine after new install

    In my office one of my iMac's suffered a complete system crash.  I am reinstalling OS X Lion as I write this post.  The iMac was backed up to an external hard drive using time machine.  After the new install of Lion how do I grab my user files from the machine backup?
    I appreciate in advance your help.

    When you complete the installation and boot into the Setup Assistant use the opportunity to restore from a TM backup which will appear in the Assistant. Just have the backup drive connected. You can then restore from the most recent backups of your Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and system preferences.
    Restore will take a while, but when done just restart.

  • How do you install a file system on an empty partition?

    Hi. I'm running 10.3.9 on a B&W G3. I've formatted a 100Gb drive with a 40Gb partition on which Panther is installed (and which is running even as I type) and several empty partitions. I was going to install OS 9 on one of the empty partitions, but Disk Utility doesn't seem to want to let me do install a file system on an empty partition. Hence, the OS 9 installer can't find the empty partitions, and therefore can't install.
    Is there another way to put a file system on an empty partition?

    Matt--
    One suggestion: if you can't figure out how to put a file system on the empty space, you could clone your current partition to an external drive, re-partition the internal drive drive and then clone the external back. Like John, I've heard of utilities that can re-partition a drive without erasing your data, but I just can't imagine using one if I didn't have a clone anyway. So that's what I've done when I want to change a partition size.

  • HT3669 I only have a HP printer and why I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers 590MB??? if normally the size of my file should be 5MB.  some one could me help to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???

    Hi guys..!!
    I would like to know if someone could help on this:
    I just have a HP printer (HP Designjet 100) and for some reason I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers in total 590MB to be able to use my printer in my mountain lion???
    If normally the size of my files in the for previous software was more or less 5MB why now i need to install 590?
    Some one could help me how to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???
    Thanks

    If you go to http://support.apple.com/downloads and locate the HP Printer Drivers installer, you will find that it is 473.4 MB (for version 2.11). If you install this, it will install the full set of drivers for every model of HP printer that is supported by the drivers distributed through Apple. The disk space occupied once installed will probably be larger than the download, since the downloaded file is compressed.
    On the other hand, if you have an HP printer connected and you use Software Update (or the Update tab in App Store), that should offer you a much smaller set of HP drivers, which are only applicable to your printer (and possibly a few similar ones). These updates are typically only tens of megabytes rather than hundreds of megabytes.
    If Software Update doesn't offer you any HP drivers then it either thinks you have the latest drivers installed already, or the printer model is not supported by the drivers available from Apple.
    This article lists all of the printer models for which Apple distributes the driver:

  • Default install of config files

    By default in Vista, DW CS4 installs its config files here: \Users\username\AppData\Ro
    aming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration   My Adobe folder has grown to over 1 Gig.  This means I have 1 Gig of data that continues to get copied back and forth across our network.  This tranlates to very long login and logoff procedures.   Is there a way to force DW during install to setup their config files somewhere else or is there a better solution to elimate the slow network coping of DW config files?  Thanks

    Hi
    The dreamweaver user config files should not be so large, even with lots of extensions installed it should rarely be more than 200Mb, and not 1Gb.
    As your server admin why they are uploading your dreamweaver user config as there is not reason I know of to do this, even the use of a version control system should not require more than 20Mb of files to be transferred. Is it possible that they have selected video files to be transferred or other items and not just the log-on to server info?

  • Transfer old config files from old C150 to New C170

    I exported the complete configuration from the old C150  and emailed it to myself without masked passwords.  I copied the file to my machine and logged into the new C170. System Administration --> Configuration File
    Selected Load Configuration file from local computer.  I browsed to the file and seleted it and hit "load"
    It failed on so many lines that just seemed incompatible with the new XML structure I just gave up.  I ended up doing it manually but would like to know if it is possible to accomplish the original task of importing that old config file?

    The dievices have different port settings and there are some large differences in the code.  You cannot transfer the entire config file but you can do it in sections.  Such as export your HAT config and import that to the C170.
    How I did it was hook a laptop directly to the new C170 on the management port and opened a wireless connection via browser to the live C150 and manually set all of my network configurations individually.

  • How to remove empty tags from a config file

    Hi all,
    I have a task where we need to run a Java program to remove tags which do not contain ny information from the config files. The format of the file is as under:
    <roleManager>
         <providers>
              <add name="AspNetSqlRoleProvider" b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
              <add name="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider" PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
         </providers>
    </roleManager>
    <httpModules>
    </httpModules>
    In the above lines <roleManager> is a tag which contains some data, while <httpModules> is an empty tag and does not conatin any data. The resultant should be:
    <roleManager>
         <providers>
              <add name="AspNetSqlRoleProvider" b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
              <add name="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider" PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
         </providers>
    </roleManager>
    Please suggest how can we achieve this?
    Thanks in advance

    I ususally do that type of thing with a state machine... read a token, look for what is next, and if it's the closing token, I don't write it out. You have well defined opening token syntax and closing token syntax, so it should be relatively easy.

  • Mackeeper has left files....will a new install of Mavericks mean all Mackeeper stuff will be gone?

    I am uninstalling mackeeper but it seems there are files still left........will a new install of Mavericks mean all Mackeeper stuff will be gone?
    Or how do I get rid of everything related to it?
    Tx

    You may have to reinstall to completely uninstall. See -> How to uninstall MacKeeper.
    With the newset version, all you hsould have to do is to drag the MK icon from the Applications folder to the Trash. You'll get a warning to confirm that you want to completely remove the crud.
    No need to wait until Mavericks is released - get rid of it now!

  • Backup to TM - reformat/install - TM files to new install?

    I just bought the Time Capsule and am in the process of backing up my files via Time Machine.
    I want to then reformat my hd and do a clean install of leopard and applications. My question is, once I format/reinstall, can I pull specific files and settings from the TM image to my new install?
    After reinstalling all of my software and files, I am going to create a new image. This is probably a simple question but i've never used it... thanks!

    Welcome to Discussions!
    Yes, you can restore user files from TM after an erase and install.
    When you reboot from the install, migration assistant will come up, and you can restore user files.
    However, if you think there's some corruption, (this is my recommendation) use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone the full hard drive, to both be sure you have a full working backup, and that you can manually restore EVERY file you need.
    Good luck!
