New Install of MSCS for an Upgraded Abap System
We are currently on NW04S ECC 6.0 on WAS 700 in a MSCS, Oracle 10g. Our problem is that we are moving to new hardware and our current system uses the old MSCS (which is an upgraded system originally installed at 4.7 640 (perhaps earlier (4.6c)), which to me means that the Central Instance resides in the MSCS in the SAP Group. Our plan is to install a clustered system and do a DB restore or copy over to the new hardware. I have done the install and realize now that the ABAP MSCS install for NW04s ABAP creates the cluster a little differently in that it looks like the Java (Portal) cluster. Only the SCS and enqueue are in the MSCS and the CI and all Dis are outside of the MSCS. This creates a problem for me in that the SCS is using the 00 system number, that on our old system the CI had, so our gui is now pointing to what would be the wrong system number, as it looks like the gui must point to to the CI system number for connection to the message server. So, I guess this means a reinstall for me and switching the system numbers. I also dont know exactly how high availability would be created in this new setup unless you put an application switch in front of your CI and Dis, like you would with the Portal, to direct gui requests. With the old MSCS the cluster would know if the CI failed and move it to the other node, but since it resides outside of the cluster, you have to have some type of external director right?
Hello Jack,
even you have upgraded from 6.40 to 7.00 you will need to convert to new HA structure according the note 1011190 to avoid the problems with next upgrade. In 700 the CI and DI are not the SPOF (see also
<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0b8cd93-f1e9-2910-c186-86bfff3dac63">here</a>) and you can configure logon groups via the message server.
In case of hardware change better to take the system copy guide and install new HA architecture - it will save you manual conversion (SAP note 1011190).

Installing Java Add-In for an existing ABAP System -Error SQL compatibility
Hello gurus,
We have a system and it has only the ABAP instance! So my goal is install the JAVA iinstance. In this momment I´m reading the section "4.4.2 Installing the Java Add-In for an Existing ABAP System (Optional)" in installation guide "SAP ERP 6.0 SR3" (ABAP+JAVA). So, I want to install the JAVA instance which is the Java Add-In for an existing ABAP system!
So what I did was followed that instructions on that section in guide!
As you certainly know this process has three sequential phases:
1) Central Services Instance (SCS) Java Add-In
2) Database Instance Java Add-In
3) Central Instance Java Add-In
The first phase - Central Services Instance (SCS) Java Add-In - it already finished with success, but I´m faccing with a weird error in second phase Database Instance Java Add-In when I entered all required input parameters, SAPinst shows an error that says:
The database PRD has the wrong compatibility level. The database used for the installation of an SAP system must have compatibility level: 80 for MS SQL Server 2000 90 for MS SQL Server 2005 SOLUTION: See the MS SQL Server documentation on how to set the compatibility level for a database.
I don´t know what´s happen, in fact my database is an SQL Server 2008 (100), but I already change it at management studio, the compatibility level to MS SQL Server 2005, but still the error remains!!! I also tried to ran again the sapinst process, I restarted it but it still show me this error!!
Can you tell me why and how can I solve this problem?
Best regards,
João Dimas - PortugalHello Sunny,
I still have this error... I don´t know what do to more for this situation!
I found one not which report this error of compatibility - Note 1152240 - Setting Up Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (R2) - in chapter "VII TROUBLESHOOTING" which said to follow the instructions in chapter III - "Installing SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3".
When I read this last chapter (III) it tell us to do:
If you want to install an SAP system based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 on SQL Server 2008, you cannot use the Installation Master and Kernel DVD that you received from SAP or downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace. Instead, you have to do the following:
Patch your runtime libraries by applying the procedure that is described in note 684106 for your release and machine architecture.
Use a modified Installation Master DVD
For more information, see section "VI PROCEDURES" -> "Creating a modified Installation Master DVD".
Use a modified Kernel DVD
For more information, see section "VI PROCEDURES" -> "Creating a modified Kernel DVD".
I did everything that is said in the note (except the "Creating a modified Kernel DVD") because I can not access to the note 1480785 (it say: "The requested SAP Note is either in reworking or is released internally only")
Can you help me... can you guide me... please!?
Best regards,
João Dimas - Portugal -
Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system
Hi, Currently we are Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system.
Following the steps (Installation guide):
1) We sucessfully installed the Central Services Instance (SCS)
2) We sucessfully Installed the Database Instamce Java Add-In
Our problem comes in the third step
3) Central Instance Java Add-In
When the system prompts me the SAP System Identification (Select the central instance of your local host).
I have a combo with two values: DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV and DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV
(The same value)
I chose anyone, and click next.
The system send me an Input error and says "Caught EKdException in Module call: single select return more than on row"
Any help is appreciated, and I will reward points if helpful.
RegardsI followed an advice made for a sap consultant, and delete some profile files.
I had the following files
DEFAULT.1.PFL
DEFAULT.2.PFL
DEFAULT.BAK
DEFAULT.PFL
DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005
DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005.BAK
DEV_SCS01_bsomtymx005
START_DVEBMGS00_BSOMTYMX0
START_DVEBMGS00_bsomtymx005
START_SCS01_bsomtymx005
after to delete the files, I have the following files
DEFAULT.BAK
DEFAULT.PFL
DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005
DEV_SCS01_bsomtymx005
START_DVEBMGS00_bsomtymx005
START_SCS01_bsomtymx005
Then, I restarted the installation, and the sapinst allow me to continue with the installation.
I really do not know if the installation will be sucessful, but this issue is solved.
Thanks shanji, I was working in another tasks, but with your help, I will try to resolve again this problem, and found the solution. -

I have also confirmed the passwords in ABAP system/000 for SAPJSF, DDIC, J2EE_ADMIN, J2EE_GUEST.
We are getting the same error in both tries.
Kindly advice us to resolve the problem.
Thanks and Regards,
SrinivasAnanda,
you saved my day! I've been banging my head against the wall with this same problem during a J2EE add-in installation for SRM 4.0 on Windows, in preparation of an LAC 2.0 installation. I had tried deleting the schema first, but that didn't work. After I removed the sys\global\security folder as well, it worked perfectly.
Thank you. -

Errors installing BI Content for LES (Logistic Execution System)
I am on BI 7.0 SP17 and BI Content 703 level 09.
I am trying to install BI Content for LES - cube 0LES_C01. However there are no updated components for Datasources, DTP etc. Only 3.x infosources etc.
Does this mean that none of the BI Content for LES is upgraded for BI 7.0?
When I try the simulation, I get errors relating to the update rules - 'Error installing update rules'. These are 3.x rules anyway, should I ignore these errors?
Any advice appreciated.hi,
Make sure KEY1 Infoobject is available in your metadata repository or in RSD1.The transfer structure is looking for this field.
First install KEY1 and then try to install other business content.

Which fresh OS install method best for my slightly wonky system?
Background: Noticed that my CPU/fan/temp would go up very high, found out syslogd was causing the problem, white over 100%CPU. The problem happens when I use a music app that generally works well on a Mac so the problem seems local to my black MacBook. Tried all the syslogd tricks I found on Google including disabling/flushing/re-enabling syslog, but nothing works. Upgrading to 10.5.7 didn't work either.
So, it seems like the only solution is to reinstall the OS and hope that the music app works fine after that. Am I right?
What is my best option, Archive and Install, Erase and Install or Disk Utility to nuke the OS installation and then reinstall from scratch? Bear in mind that although I have an updated external bootable clone, my system isn't what I'd call stable.
Please, I could do with some tips from people who know more than me about this. Before you reinstall try creating a new user account then log into the new account to see if the problem ceases. If it does then there's a problem limited to your user account rather than with the OS. However, if the problem persists you can try doing this:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update. -
Install Java-Add in ECC 5 ABAP system
Hi all,
FYI.
I was requested to installed java stack (WEB AS JAVA) in same server but separate instance. As my current system is pure ABAP environment.
as DB instance, central instance was in single hosts*
Separate installation of the Java Stack & Communication with the ABAP stack will be done by remote function calls.
In any case,
i was doubtful that its required me to install JAVA Central Service before proceeded to Java stack installation, however, where should i placed JACA Central service?
thus i need to follow the following procedures for java add-in stack installation on separate instances but same host.
1.) Central service instance (where to placed?)
2.) DB instance (for JAVA - is that necessary?)
3.) Java instance
Please guide me regarding this.

Running sjsws7U2 on Solaris 10 SPARC
Did a clean install, messed up setting up a virtual server and now even though I un-installed the "entire" server, a new install now asks for authentication (username/password)
Access Control section (default and es-internal) show that it should be open.
No username/password requirement
How do I turn off the unwanted prompt for username/password
ThanksCan you send all the ACL files in <server-instance>/config directory. Can you send what request you send to the server and what response you get (using ssltap or ethereal) and can you run Web Server instance in log-level "finest" (modify in server.xml <log-level>finest</log-level>) and send relevant portion of error logs?

Good day.
I would like to ask, what are the steps that I'm going to do when configuring an EWA report for non-abap systems i.e portal. Do Ineed to install SMD agents on my non-abap systems and connect to diagnostic agent of solman?
Or do I need to install wily introscope agents on my non-abap systems and connect to diagnostic agent?
It is both? Which one?
It would be also great if you can provide me links/documents in relation to my queries.
Please do note that the current version of solman system is 7.1
Thanks in advance for the help
VirgilioHi Virgilio,
To generate an EWA report for Java stack system,
you need to do following:
1. install smd agent (diagnostics agent) on Java stack system
you can install this agent standalone, details see note 1234384.
The installation Guide is also attached in note 1234384.
2. finish Initial Config and Basic Configuration in solman_setup for
solman system, the setting about Enterprise Manager is also included
in these configurations, please ensure EM is running properly.
3. start managed system configuration for the EP system in solman_setup
after selecting the system type 'Java', please finish all steps as
suggested in which step. The Step 'Wily Introscope Configuration' is to
install Introscope Agent which is used for Java stack system. More infor
please read the installation Guide of Enterprise Manager and note
797147.
4. You should be able to see data in Wily Introscope and Workload
analysis via
Root Cause Analysis->End-to-End Analysis->select the system->Workload
Analysis
5. If the EP system is added in a solution, the EWA task for this system
should be shown up in solman's SDCCN.
Also check note: 976054"
Thanks

EWA on Non-ABAP System with Solution Manager EHP 1
Hi Experts,
We have recently updated our solution manager from SP Stack 16 to EHP1 (sp 18). we are now planning to set up EWA for non-abap components (EP 7.0). however, the only SAP note that i have been able to find is "976054 - Availability of EWA for Non ABAP components" but this is only limited up to SP 17. I have not been able to find any guides relating to EWA thru Solution Manager EHP1.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can refer any documents or SAP notes that would enable setting up EWA for non-abap components thru Solution Manager EHP1.
We have also gone through the note 1332428, but we have'nt found it useful. We are still struggling to generate EWA report on Non-ABAP system.
Looking forward to your kind help.
Thanks and Regards,
Sarthak SyalHi Sarthak,
Good!!
Please do the following:
1) include the system in the Solution and scheduled the EWA session.Logical component should refer to the Non-ABAP System with no ABAP instance as relevant under the SID definition in SMSY-systems.
2) Is the Non -ABAP ( assuming its java) has the Software component defined and is mentioned as relevant under the SID with the component name and type.
3) Having said that SMD - Root cause Analysis functionality is configured-> check whether you are getting the Details for the Non-ABAP systems in the analysis Tabs of Root Cause Analysis.
This should be good to go. Wait for the session to get completed.
Thanks,
Jagan
