NEW to J2EE----Class(within WEB-INF) can't access applet

I admit I'm a newbie. Situation: an applet can import packages or individual classes that are located in WEB-INF dir. Is the reverse true, that the same classes can touch the applet? If so, how do you implement this, tried to import applet class, no luck though. I figure the reverse isn't true. Just wanted some ideas for a work around and or confirmation of my question. Thanks

ok, security isn't an issue or concern since this is an intranet app. What I am trying to do is load and reload data to a JTable in an applet. The code that retrieves this data is located in WEB-INF. Is there a work around to make this work.

  • Custom classes in Web-INF/classes not recognised

              Can any body tell me why classes in WEB-INF/classes directory are not recognised by
              the WebLogic while importing in JSP??
              Thanks in advance

              Hi all,
              we were having the same problem - WebLogic not recognizing custome classes in
              the WEB-INF/classes directory. As soon as we removed the Class-Path entries from
              the WARs Manifest file (and placed the referenced JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory)
              everything worked fine. It seems as if WebLogic excludes WEB-INF/classes from
              the classpath in case Class-Path entries in the manifest file are present.
              Is there a patch for this? If yes, I'd appreciate your notice!
              Cheers

  • Is there a restriction on loading "javax" classes from WEB-INF/lib?

    I'm having trouble with a webapp in WL 10MP1 that is having trouble loading classes from the "jsr311-api-1.0.jar" in my WEB-INF/lib. Even though I have no trouble with it in Eclipse (no compile errors), classes from that jar fail with "NoClassDefFound" exceptions. I have a feeling it might be the fact that the packages in that jar start with "javax". Assuming that's the case, is there anything I can do to fix this?
    What's even stranger is that the errors I get are when I try to load them directly from the Spring context. However, if I remove the test references to those classes, there's other code that loads those classes later in the application startup (after the Spring context finishes loading), and they load perfectly fine (I turned on verbose class loading to verify this).

    Note that I've tried two other strategies that both result in the same failed state.
    I tried putting the "jsr311-api-1.0.jar" in $JDK_HOME/jre/lib/ext, but that causes a failure to find Spring classes. I then copied the "spring.jar" into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib, and then it fails to find CXF classes. After doing the same with "cxf-2.2.3.jar", it then fails to find "javax.servlet.ServletContextListener", which clearly tells me there's no benefit to this approach.
    Similarly, I tried copying the jars into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib, and that fails to find "org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory". I could continue down this path, but it doesn't seem likely to succeed. Eventually, I'll get to a point where it just can't find the classes specific to my application, which I certainly can't copy into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib.
    The first basic problem is that I can't put anything into a higher-level classloader that will eventually reference classes in a lower-level classloader, because references can only go up the chain, and the second problem is that WebLogic appears to ignore classes in WEB-INF/lib in the "javax.*" packages. I think there might be an exception for "javax.xml.*", but not for other subpackages. I tried adding a "prefer-application-packages" clause to my weblogic-application.xml file, but that had no effect.

  • Accessing classes in web-inf/classes within JSP

    hi,
    i know this is probably a very basic question..or nobody would ever do something like this..but I'mn curious:
    i have a class Car.class in the WEB-INF/classes directory and I want to access it from withing JSP : <% Car c = new Car(); %>
    the problem is that the server tries to load the class from the package : org.apache.jsp.Car ! when putting car into an own package like my.Car then it works.. but how do i get it working without putting it into a separate package?!
    thx

    You could try packaging it in a jar, and placing the jar in WEB-INF/lib... I have no idea if that will help, but when you're debugging, you have to be willing to try anything.. :)

              Hi,
              I meet a very strange problem.
              I use struts in my application.so I put struts.jar in web-inf/lib.
              In the .war file, the struts.jar can be found under web-inf/lib.
              my servlet configuration in web.xml is:
              <servlet>
              <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
              <servlet-class>org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet</servlet-class>
              <init-param>

              <param-value>StrutsProperties</param-value>

              </init-param>
              <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
              </servlet>
              when this .war file is deploy, the console not show any error message.
              then,when i visit a jsp page that has a <html:form> tag, the console will show

  • Access JSF Pages within WEB-INF directory

    Hi,
    I am generating a project using JHeadstart 10.1.3
    with the default setting for the UI Pages directory (/WEB-INF/page).
    This means that the generated pages are placed in the page directory
    within the WEB-INF directory.
    The generated pages use ADF Faces and the problem is that I can't
    get access to the pages in the WEB-INF directory
    When I try to deploy to OC4J standalone, the pages in the WEB-INF directory
    are not accessible.
    I read that I have to construct a index.jspx file that forwards to
    the first page (Home.jspx)
    This is my index.jspx:
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0">
    <jsp:scriptlet> request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);
    </jsp:scriptlet>
    </jsp:root>
    This works, but I now have the problem of not getting a valid FacesContext:
    500 Internal Server Error
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext

    What is the required way of setting up the forward (and having a valid FacesContext)?
    I know that this is a JHeadstart problem, but maybe you guys know how to solve it.

    I do something similar in my index.jspx file - but I needed to add "faces" to the url path. This will have the faces servlet process it and setup the faces context.
    Have you tried changing
    request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);to
    request.getRequestDispatcher("faces/WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);

    Do you have the activation.jar/mail.jar available in the WEB-INF/lib directory for this application?

  • Classes in web-inf/lib not being found.

    I'm having problems with a servlet app in which jar files placed in the web-inf/lib of the application are not found at runtime.
    If I put them in J2ee\home\lib they are found OK.
    This application has previously deployed and worked correctly, then I added another servlet and redeployed, and classes that were previously found OK stopped being found.
    On checking the server all the directories look correct.
    What could be causing this and how can I make my web applications deploy reliably?
    OC4J version is 9.0.3.0.0.
    Thanks

    Guys,

  • WLS 6.1sp3 classloader loads all archives within WEB-INF/lib/*

              Within the lib directory of my webapp, I have several different versions of myarchive.jar.
              In WLS 6.0 I would keep older version within the lib directory but renaming them
              so that the current release would get loaded.
              $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/myapp/WEB-INF/lib
              myarvhive.jar
              myarvhive.jar_bf_2.3release
              myarvhive.jar_bf_2.4release
              myarvhive.jar_bf_2.5release
              In WLS 6.0 this method of storing the previous archive version was safe. However,
              now after implementing WLS 6.1, I only can have the current archive release within
              the lib directory. If the previous versions are store within the lib, old methods
              are used.
              I do not understand the WLS classloader behavior and why is it different from
              WLS 6.0?

  • Debugging classes under web-inf

    Hi,
              I have been working with JBuilder 4.0 and wl 5.1\6.0 for some time now and
              was able to debug all of my code while it was in the weblogic classpath (or
              any other top level class loader).
              I have recently moved all of my web-based classes to the web-inf\classes
              directory, where they should be ... (I did that so a simple deploy\undeply
              of my web-application is all I need when I have fixes to my web-based source
              code, and of course to follow the spec).
              What happened is that now when I attach to the WL using the JBuilder, the
              JBuilder doesn't recognize any of the classes in the web-inf\classes. If you
              know JBuilder then it sets the breakpoint as if it never reaches the code
              (even if I ran it once before attaching).
              From this behavior I understand that JBuilder knows only the classes in the
              weblogic\jvm classpath.
              First I would like to know if this behavior is correct, or I'm simply doing
              something worng (which is quite likely).
              And second I'd like to know what can I do so I'll be able to debug them as
              they are (and please don't tell me to put the classes back where they were,
              up in the class loaders hierarchy, I gathered that much by myself).
              Thanks,
              Asher.

    Hi,
    i have the same Problem and i can't a solution anywhere.
    I have one ejb-jar successfully deployed on WLS 6.1 and copied alle ejb-interfaces into /WEB-INF/classes of the web application (no ear or war-files are used).
    For jsp-compiling these classes are found and used but at runtime the jsp's cannot find the interfaces and throw NoClassDefFoundErrors.
    I also tried to use the ClassPathServlet (described in http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/webapp/components.html#139205 ), but the classes are not found too.
    Please help. I thing it is inadequate to put the ejb-interfaces into the server's classpath too.
    Thanks
    Ray

  • Created new user acct. deleted old user acct. can't access old TM backups

    After changing the name on my home folder and deleting and creating a user account I can't access the old backups when I enter time machine.
    After creating the new user acct TM did a full complete backup that I can access
    Is this normal behavior or a problem?
    All of the above was done working with AppleCare
    Thanks for helping a Mac newbie.

    Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Users
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open with the home folders of all users as subfolders. Enter Time Machine. You should now be able to see your old home folder in the snapshots that were taken before you renamed it.

  • I had to create a new profile in Firefox and now, I can't access important data such as bookmarks which I desperately need.

    After two days of not being able to open Firefox, I found an article on this website which suggested that I create a new profile. I followed the instructions (which never stated that I should first backup Firefox or my old profile) After creating the new profile, Firefox is once again working fine but, I am unable to access important data such as bookmarks and history.
    I have followed several suggestion on this website but, I am still unable to find my old profile content.

    As long as you did not uninstall Firefox and remove personal data, your old profile still should be in the same location. Depending on how messed up it was, here are two options:
    '''(1) Use the profile manager to start Firefox up in your old profile and create a fresh bookmarks backup.''' If it didn't run, this won't be useful.
    To start in a different profile, Exit out of Firefox and start it up from the Start menu, search box, using
    firefox.exe -P
    Your old profile may have a name like default.
    Then you can create a fresh backup or export of your bookmarks (or both) to a neutral location (e.g., the Documents folder). These articles have the steps for creating these files:
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]] (note: does not preserve tags you have assigned to bookmarks, if any)
    Exit Firefox, use the profile manager to return to your new profile, then you can either restore the bookmark backup or import the HTML file. The difference is that a restore completely replaces whatever exists now, while an import adds to what you have now.
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * [[Import Bookmarks from an HTML file]]
    Success?
    '''(2) Restore an old bookmark backup.''' Firefox creates these files regularly, but it might not be perfectly complete.
    To access the old files, I suggest starting from your current (new) profile folder. You can open that from within Firefox using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window showing your ''current'' settings files. Using the address bar of that window, click up to the Profiles folder level and then double-click into your old profile folder, then into its bookmarkbackups folder. Copy the latest backup file to a neutral location (such as your Documents folder).
    Back in Firefox, try to restore the older backup. Note: this will completely replace your bookmarks in this profile, so if you have saved new bookmarks you want to save, please perform the optional steps in the following list:
    * Optional (preserve new bookmarks): [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]] - use Choose File to go to your Documents folder to get the old backup
    * Optional (add new bookmarks to the restored set): [[Import Bookmarks from an HTML file]]
    Success?

  • OCA admin web interface - can't access certificate management tab

    Hi there.
    This is very strange, a week a go I could issue certficate requests in the user web interface and then aprove them in the admin web interface.
    Now I can issue certificate requests in the user web interface but when I try to aprove the request by accessing the certificate management tab, the web browser stays a lot of time trying to access the page and timesout with a "cannot display this page" error.
    I've been looking at log files, but untill now, I couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong files?
    Does anyone had this problem before?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ricardo Vilhena

    When you access the admin page, does it ask to select the certificate you want to use?
    If don't, or you don't see this (in a windows with a list) they you may try to reset OCA, this happens when the certificate is lost or have been disabled, rejected or deleted, and as you dont have anything to use, you can't see the page.
    Hope this helps.
    Greetings.

    Windows 8 seems to still be waiting for bonjour..
    Open windows explorer and type in the TC address directly in the address bar.
    \\TCIPaddress or TCname
    Replace with the actual of course.
    If no go, ping the TC ip address .. still no go, then the networking on the windows machine is set wrongly.. never used win8 so no idea.. but turn off the firewall and ensure the laptop is in the home area, not work not public.
    You have to get ping response to open the TC.
    On the TC setup the guest access to on and full read and write access.
