New Tutorials on Youtube

Greetings All,
I am a professor who has created a series of Edge Animate tutorials, available for free on Youtube:
Adobe Edge Assets - YouTube
These are all 1080p x 24 fps. They contain all my keyboard chords and mouse clicks, so the viewer can stop, start, rewind and double check everything I do. They are designed to be played on a second monitor or tablet while the viewer works along side. I presently have 3 available, and while make more. Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.

Why can I no longer "share" news article and YouTube links to my Facebook?

In recent weeks I am no longer able to "share" links from online news articles and YouTube videos to my Facebook. Is this a Firefox issue or a Facebook issue? When I click share it shows the typical page, but does not process the task.

Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Lion, Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Snow Leopard, and Leopard Security Update 2012-003 disable out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player.
Out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player do not include the latest security updates and will be disabled to help keep your Mac secure. If Safari 5.1.7 or Leopard Security Update 2012-003 detects an out-of-date version of Flash Player on your system, you will see a dialog informing you that Flash Player has been disabled. The dialog provides the option to go directly to Adobe's website, where you can download and install an updated version of Flash Player.
Additional Information
If you need to re-enable an out-of-date version of Flash Player, you can do the following:
    1.    Navigate to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (Disabled) folder.
    2.    Drag "Flash Player.plugin" into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.
    3.    If the browser is running, quit and restart it.

On the freeze, never been to FaceBook, but...
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

Video Tutorials on YouTube Legal?

Is it legal to create and upload video tutorials on YouTube using Adobe Software that is Monetized for revenue?

Never been asked that question in relation to non-education versions of Adobe software.
The EULA wording is more about what you can do to the software rather than with it and it's more about explicit restrictions rather than permissions. There's no specific clause that I'm aware of which says it's OK to use commercially but it's been used commercially since the day version 1 was released.
I've always understood that how you use it is up to you, providing there's no license restriction to the contrary.
There a specific FAQ for using Student and Teacher Editions commercially.

New tutorials and export script

Hey All,
As much as I loves me .Mac account for its ridiculously easy iPhoto publishing, I've reached the point where I want to be able to have fun with server-side scripting (PHP, Ruby, etc.), so I've moved the tutorials and such to a new location:

I've got a couple of new tutorials there, as well as an AE-to-Motion position keyframe export script, for those of you desperate to move that tracking data. It's no-frills, but it seems to work well enough.

PS: Do you think it would be too hard for a non programmer like myself to customize the script? I would love to modify it to export Soundkeys or AE's built-in Convert audio to keyframes data to Motion! I mean, I could copy that data to AE's position and then export, but position has two dimensions and the audio level data is unidimensional....

Can't get the scrolling to work in the tutorials for iLife or iWork... Pick the app (like iPhoto) that has a lot of tutorials, and my scrolling of the list of lessons for that app won't work... have replicated with Firefox, Safari, and Explorer; and with Explorer on a PC... Anyone know how to fix?

Thanks for sharing your use case. I have a few questions if you don't mind:
1) What file formats are typically found within these compressed containers? For example, html, xml, txt, pdf, MS Office, etc.
2) Do these compressed containers ever have other embedded compressed containers within them? For example, a zip file containing other zip files within it.
3) If the intention is to process document files, do any of the document files have other document formats embedded/nested within them? For example, a MS Word document with a spreadsheet embedded within it.

Monetizing OS X and other Apple software tutorials on Youtube?

Hello community!
I have a howto video of OS X Lion up on Youtube that has reached almost 60,000 views and I plan to do lots more, because there often seem to be things that somebody hasn't done a video on and I simply like making howtos. Also, I'm a student, so any few extra bucks would be welcome.
Back on topic though, is it possible to monetize videos on Youtube that I have used OS X in to demonstrate how things are done?
I'm aware I must not allow the impression it's an official Apple video or endorsed by Apple, so beyond that, am I good to go?
And does this apply to all software Apple provides? I'd love sparing the forum asking this everytime I decide to record something new that might not be the base OS X install, but instead maybe an iPhoto tutorial or whathaveyou.
I tried searching the internet and the forums here, but to no avail.

This is my feeling, too, however I really don't want a bad Youtube account standing so I need something that I can show Youtube in the event the legality of my monetization gets questioned either by them or a 3rd party. (could be a troll, you know stuff like that is happening)
Thanks for the quick reply so far though, it's nice to know my feeling doesn't seem to be too off with what others estimate to be good to go.
And about "not using Apple logos or other copyrighted materials":
This is borderline impossible, as what I'm recording is basically going to show the Apple logo sooner or later (Menu Bar for example) and being a Youtube partner I'd love making a custom preview image for the video which would of course need to depict what I'm showing (e.g. OS X's logo) for obvious reasons.
Would that be okay?
I know I cannot use the logos as channel logo or anything, at least not the official ones. (Nobody could stop me from snapping a pic of a real apple and slapping that on my channel icon )

Brand new MacBook Pro & Youtube: Not working together

I just bought this new MBP and whenever I go to watch a Youtube video, it encounters some serious difficulties. The videos load up to just a few seconds in and stop. If I drag the slider to any point in the video, it will play from that point, but only for a few seconds before locking up again a few second again.
I ran a software update, I've tried goofing around with some settings, and I have reinstalled flash. Does anyone have any ideas? It would be much appreciated.

(1) Be certain that all third-party software you have added is compatible with OS X 10.6.2. Uninstall any that cannot be updated for compatibility and test to see if your problem remains.

If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, your built-in iSight still does not work, contact your retailer for help with your new Mac.

New iMac and Youtube = FREEZES

I just purchased a new iMac last week. It has Lion already installed. Everytime I watch a youtube video my screen will freeze. I have the use of the cursor but cannot click on anything. It is very frustrating! I cannot force quit any applications and am required to restart the computer to un-freeze. Please help!!!

New Operating System - YouTube App?

I just updated my daughter's ipod with the new operating system and she no longer has the YouTube app that Apple previously provided. Where did it go. Thanks for any input.

Open a new window to Youtube works in Chrome Firefox not IE

I have the following code which works in Firefox and Chrome, but not on IE:

''Problem:'' For whatever reason, NoScript is stopping Runescape Community Toolbar from working properly which freezes your first Firefox window.
''Fix:'' Uninstall the toolbar. Disable NoScript. Install the toolbar. Add your RS account to it and make sure it works, then Enable NoScript again.

You should probably contact RightNow to see if they have the ability to authenticate remotely (something like an LDAP interface). I know thatRightNow sites have a Web Service with the ability to send user name/password to that webservice. Although its not designed primarily as an authentication tool, it might suit your purpose.

Such selections at this point are fully controlled by Apple. So they won't appear unless Apple negotiates a deal and releases the equivalent of an App. I would not hold my breath! ;-(
However, rumor is that the Apple TV will eventually have an App Store of its own to add programs. At that point, maybe more sources will become available.

Hello, here is my problem: reading your mozilla support, I learned how to make Firefox open links in Google results in the same tab, that's the way I like it, but I still like to have my YouTube windows pop-up in a new tab (I participate in one forum, when I come to the YouTube window in some topic, I usually click on a small right-down button "watch on YouTube", and that always opens video it in a new tab; all until latest few updates of Firefox). Can this issue be corrected in about:config feature, and how? Sorry if my English isn't so glorious.

Hello. I have just tried this add-on you suggested, and no change.
And no, there was no some other add-on before, not that I know about it. Mainly, I need this option while I'm on a forum (IP board powered), it is not really something so important, but it's neat function for me.
So, to be more detailed - I read a certain topic on this forum, and some of the posts from other members contain YouTube screens (looking same as on the original YouTube page), showing the frame of a video.
In earlier versions of Firefox, I used to click on a small YouTube logo button (right side, down, between "watch on full screen" and "watch later" buttons). Clicking on this button automatically opened new tab, leaving forum tab as it is, and in new tab original YouTube page, with that certain video. In the same time, in Google search page, when clicking on a link, all links were opening in the same tab.
Now, after some of the latest updates of Firefox, I noticed that some default settings were changed - in Google search, clicking on a link always opens a link in a new tab. I have found out here on your forum how to set this back in about:config feature, and now I have again that links in a Google results page are opened in the same tab (that's the way I like it).
But YouTube screens on this forum are now also being opened in the same tab, and that is what I don't like, and trying to change back.
So, what I need: all links to open in the same tab after clicking, as I have it now, and YouTube screens (e. g. on this forum) to be opened in a new tab (by clicking on a small YouTube logo ("watch this video on YouTube").
Pedantic I am, I know that, and I know that this may look silly to some people, but if there is a way to do something, please tell me.
