New Vista Computer

Have copied all the itunes folders and files to my new computer running the latest patched version of itunes. Put in the public microsoft folder for sharing across my home network to other machine. Only see the few songs in my library that the new machine came with. New computer is authorised, and I have set pointers to the location of the iTunes files/folders. Tried <add folders> but that always fails after a few minutes. Can I either get my old library index from my ex.XP machine to be read or build a new index somehow? Don't see why this is so difficult. Can see the library in WMP without any trouble. Help pls!

After reading some of the other information exchanges, I tried importing the itunes .xml library file. Seemed to start importing but after several minutes stopped, with the normal "itunes has a problem message". Rebooted. Tried again, but alas same problem after a few minutes

  • Now that I have a new vista computer my labtop wont connect to internet

I just got a new HP computer with Vista on it. At first I was able to get internet connection on my labtop, now I cannot and if I leave my WRT54 G  Version 6  wireless router  plugged in I cant access the internet  on my computer as well. when it is plugged in it shows the reception on my labtop and even connects but the internet does not work I cannot view any pages.  I put in the startup disk it came with but it wont install all the way and I tried to download firmware but it wont open in PDF as a BIN file.  I think this is because of the vista. I have reseted the router and the modem but nothing works now. at first if I reseted them i would get internet access but now I cannot.  I would gladly appreciate any advice on how to solve the problem.
                                      Thank You

The .bin file is the firmware.  When you access your router and go to flash the firmware to direct it to where ever that .bin file then flash it.  I am guessing you have a cable modem?  Try pluging into the modem with a cat5e cable and see if you can get online.  If you can then plug the router back in then plug you pc in and rreconfigure your SSID/security/password  and the rest of the settings you need.  Then unplug you pc and try connecting with the wireless.

  • Transfering Amazon songs to new vista computer

I was successfully able to transfer all my music from my XP computer to my Vista computer using a copy over my home network. However, I have the ! next to all the mp3 that I downloaded from Amazon's store. Any ideas on how to find these songs on my new computer?
    Thank you!

Well, if you copied the files yourself, then the MP3s should be located... wherever you copied them to. If you set iTunes to make copies of them for its Library, then they will be stored in the same hierarchy as all other music.

  • Setting up Airport express with new Vista Computer?

I just bought a new computer with microsoft Vista. I have a netgear wireless router using WPA protection. I want to hook up an airport express as a client in another room where my stereo is. I had this working on my old XP computer but don't remember how I set it up because none of the discussions in the manual look anything like what I had. Does anyone know how to set this up?

Got it!!!! thanks to David NYC and tesserax. For other peoples benefit, change steps 1-5 on the above document procedure for Airport Admin Utility to the following:
    1. Perform factory reset (situational)
    2. Attach Airport Express via Ethernet to router.
    3. Invoke your router software and view connected devices.
    4. Identify Airport Express device id. It will be something like (192.168.1.3). You can tell which id is the airport express by looking for its MACD id on the list and comparing to the id printed on the Airport Express unit.
    5. Open Airport Admin Utility.
    6. Click Other.....
    7. Enter the device id from #4 and password (this will be "public" if you reset to factory in step 1.)
    8. Change settings to wireless (steps 6-13 of existing procedure)
    Thanks to all who helped.

  • Moving itunes to new Vista Computer

I have a new computer that uses Windows Vista. I want to move my itunes from an old windows 2000 computer to the new one. Under itunes help it says to back up your old computer itunes and restore to the new computer. Since I have a Vista system it does not recognize the cds that I have burned to restore. Does any one have any suggestions on how to get to the new computer. Thanks

    Fo you have an iPod?
If yes enable disk use (you can do that when you connect it to iTunes) and that way you can use it as a removable drive and just copy paste the music to the iPod

  • New Vista computer and WRT610N Router

Just changed the desktop computer on my home network to a Vista 64 bit system. In order to access the router's web based utility do I need to run the router setup process? If so, will this overwrite my existing router settings? Is there a file I need to copy from my old machine that will save my existing router settings so that I can update the settings after running the setup process?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, in that case, it appears as though your router has been modified at some time in the past (or at least the DHCP scope has.)
Try opening up a command prompt and typing in IPCONFIG on your PC.  You should get something that looks like this.....
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 3:
      Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : figga
       IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 172.29.154.112
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.29.154.1
If you have an IP address that starts with 168.X then you didn't get an IP address from the DHCP server on the Router.  Anyway, if you did get an IP address, try to access the Router via the IP address shown as the Default Gateway  (in my case that would be 172.29.154.1)  If you still can't get in, try prefacing the ip address with HTTPS://172.29.154.1  on the off chance that you  selected the option to only allow secure connections.  If this doesn't work, you may have to hit the reset button on the back of the gateway and start all over.
    Good Luck

  • Tungsten T5 and New Vista Computer

Okay--I believe I've tried everything--4.1 and 6.2--my computer recognizes something has been plugged in--but keeps calling it Palm One (in device manager and it has a yellow caution triangle with an exclamation point in it)--which it isn't it's a TungstenT5--I still cannot get a hotsync to happen and I can't understand half of what the heck everyone has written on this subject before...someone please, please tell me in clear language what my best bet would be to get things working.  I have been working on computers since the mid-80s, many programs, many computers--both MACs and PCs-- but this has got me baffled.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Does anybody know to authorize a windows vista computer with the new itunes?

does anybody know to authorize a windows vista computer with the new itunes?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • Moving Itunes from XP computer to new Vista Laptop

I attempted to use the Windows Easy Transfer function to move all my files from my old computer running XP to my new Vista laptop. The process worked, but my itunes library states that "the song cannot be used because they cannot find the original file". Please help!

The following article can be used as a basis for doing the transfer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?viewlocale=en_US
The article describes using an iPod to do the transfer, but once you have your music all together, how you copy the iTunes folder from one computer to another doesn't matter. You can use an external drive or network connection.
One you have transferred the itunes folder you need to set the permissions so your account has full control.

  • Multiple iPods on One Vista Computer

I just got a new 3rd generation nano and I'm trying to use both my 2nd and 3rd generation nano on my Vista computer. I want to have different music on each iPod but can't figure out how to do this. Any suggestions? Thanks...

You can set either or both of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish): Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used whenever you choose. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any either or both of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something to be aware of however when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod
You can read more about using multiple iPods on this page: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

  • Help Mac user help new Vista user - install QT Player or not?

My friend has a new Vista PC and he's not a skilled user. I'm a Mac person myself. He's having tons of trouble with it and I live 2000 miles away. I'm here on a visit and have been helping him get Flash player and Yahoo IM etc installed.
Is Quicktime Player a simple, painless, installation or does it require troubleshooting? If the latter, then we won't even try. Too little time for anything but install-and-play.
Your advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the link. It's downloading the standalone installer now.
Still need someone to chime in if QT will install without problems on the Vista PC. This bit (with my emphasis) from Apple at the download page isn't encouraging.

  • During migration of Firefox from Vista computer to windows 7 computer, personal profile was lost and I don't know how to restore it - Profile wizard finds no pr

When data were transferred from my vista computer to the new windows 7 computer, the profile on firefox was not transferred to the new computer. Because the profile wasn't transferred, profile manager or just typing in the default location don't give a result. All the info on the mozilla web site that I've looked at dealing with profiles don't seem to work. I can probably retrieve and make a copy of the profile from the old computer, but how do I find out where to put it on the new one??

  • How to move iTune library and iPod from old XP PC to new Vista PC

I am upgrading from an XP PC to a new Vista PC and would like to know where I can find instructions on what I should do to transfer my iTunes library and my iPod to the new computer. Thanks for any help.

I purchased Copy/Tran and, as you described, it was awesome in transferring all 2538 songs to the new computer.
The only problem remaining is that even though it transferred all songs including the 83 that I had purchased from iTunes, when I synced my iPod with the new computer's iTune library, I got a message saying it could not put the purchased songs on the iPod because they were "not authorized".
Any suggestions on what to do about that?

My new Dell computer with windows 8, when I open my iTunes and plug my iPhone 5 in the computer does not see my phony, why?

    Hi, Robert.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
