New widget in Flash

I'm a Flash developer trying to develop an interactivities for a Captivate. The interactivities will test the skill of the user doing certain tasks, so we will need it to SCORM.
I -think- I have to do this using a Flash widget, but I am not certain if I choose an Interactive Widget or a Question Widget. What is the difference between the 2? Can I still pass a score from the Interactive Widget?
I was trying to work with the Question Widget, with ActionScript 2. When I go to publish my flash file, I get a AS2 syntax error, in the Captivate ActionScript. Is there a fix for this?

Help with Widget in Flash for Captivate 7

Hi,
I am trying to use the Widget in Flash function in Captivate 7, but I keep getting an invalid argument error when the .jsfl script tries to run in Flash Pro CC. The line in question is line 8 - fl.getDocumentDOM().exportPublishProfile('file:///profile.xml');. Can anyone suggest a solution or work around?
I've been looking forward to trying my hand at creating widgets, but it is an inauspicious start.

Widgets in Flash from Adobe Captivate 5

I have Adobe Captivate5 and Web Premium CS5. In captivate, when I try to insert a question widget (File, New Project, Widget in Flash, Question) it opens Flash CS5 professional and I get the following error code in the OUTPUT section (in Flash):
The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 39 of file "data-16401608588.jsfl":
importPublishProfile: Argument number 1 is invalid.
I am unable to do anything with the widgets in Flash......
Has anyone had this problem? How could it be resolved so I can create a question widget using Captivate/Flash?

This appears to be an issue with Windows 7 if you don't run captivate in administrative mode. It works once I restarted the program in administrator mode.

In flex3 we are making a component ex: <mx:canvas> and changeing that component to

Editing and exporting Widgets in Flash

Hello, I am very new to Captivate and action-scripting, and I cannot seem to find a tutorial that explains what I feel should be a fairly simple task:
I have customized widgets which usethe import com.adobe.adobe.captivate.widgets.* and import.adobe.captivate.events.* commands. These widgets will not work in Captivate, and will only import as animations.
I have added the appropriate paths to Flash's actionscript library, but during the publishing from Flash, I receive the following compile errors, describing lines in the widget's aactionscript, which I am sure are why it is not publishing properly:
5001: The name of package 'com.adobe.captivate.widgets' does not reflect the location of this file. Please change the package definition's name inside this file, or move the file. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\ActionScript\export\as3\com\adobe\captivate\widgets

What do I need to do to get the import to work? The files are present in the approriate directory,C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\ActionScript\export\as3\com\adobe\captivate\widgets, but Flash does not seem to recognize them.
Why is there no basic tutorial for using these Actionscript classes and events?
I looked around on the forums to see if this was answered before, so I hope this isn't a repeated question. I feel like the answer to this must be something very simple.

If you're serious about building Captivate widgets, you need to be using the WidgetFactory API and you need to be reading up on the Widget King's website blog:

Hi, I just tried to create a new widget in Captivate and ran into the following error as soon as the new file opens in Flash CS5:
The Output windows shows up the following message although I have not even run the file...

How do I uninstall an older version of Flash from my iMac 10.9.5, running Safari 7.0.5. YouTube tells me I need the new version of Flash. I've downloaded it 5 times but it won't install when I click on "Install Adobe Flash."

Safari 1.3.2 is the newest version for Mac OS X 10.3.9. You need to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4 to get a newer version; a G3's maximum OS is 10.4.11.

Problem with News widget embedded video

I have embedded a video in a news widget item and it plays but then if I move the cursor off the screen it stopped playing
and if the cursor happens to scroll over another news event even though I haven't clicked on another event.
This is quite annoying for the users -- Can this be fixed -- Thanks

Hello Bertine,
Could you please check if you are using Event as On click or on rollover in the widget properties?
You can check it by clicking on the white arrow in Blue circle which comes up at the top right of the Widget when it is selected.
The Event option should be selected as On Click if you want the other triggers to get active when clicked and not when roll overed.

[solved]kdemod 4.3.4: news widget opens kate instead of browser

Hi,
i'm having a persistent problem with the news widget under kdemod 4.3.4.
Whenever I click on one of the news feeds it launches kate and I see the html source code.
How can I change this behavior that the browser will be launched instead?
The browser is already set as standard application for html files.

Thanks for this.. I already checked that but now I stumbled over a strange behavior:
Kate was on top of the list of associated applications. Moving a browser on top was possible, but after pressing 'apply' kate was on top of the list again. Must be some kind of bug..
Anyway, I removed kate from the list and now everything is alright. even kate is in the list again, but on a lower position...

Can't add new Widgets to Dashboard on main user account

I recently switched to a new MacBook Air and after the initial intstallation used migration assistent to move my old data to the MacBook Air. All works fine except the Dashboard. With the old useraccount (which is my main account) I can't add new widgets to the dashboard. When I download and install a new widget I can see it in the /user/library/widgets section, I can see it in the widget list in the dashboard but when I click on it or drag it up to the dashboard it closes the dashboard again.
I tried adding a new user and in works fine in that new account.
Here's what I did to try and solve it sofar:
1. Repaired permissions
2. Deleted the two .plist's in user/library/preferences
3. Deleted the Cache in user/library/cache
4. Checked the folder permissions in /user/library/widget and compared that with the newuser/library/widget
5. Downloaded the 10.6.6. combo update and reinstalled
This behaviour is with every new widget I tried to install.
I tried to find similar behaviour using google but so far no luck. Any suggestions?

You have hosed preferences in the main user account. Create a new admin user account, log into it, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option, recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

I found eight broken links on the new Widget Gallery display page.
If you'd like me to list them I can, but first I'm more concerned (for all parties involved) about the link to
author Christoper Whatson. Multiple times the link had numerous redirects to multiple pages, including porn. Other times it works. May be my system so I'm running a full virus/malware/spyware scan right now but...
(finding the humor in it the url happens to be tripchrystallsyadayada..)
Also in SNL and Firefox the link to Adobe Muse Team ( http://[email protected]///[email protected]/ ) for Slideshow, Basic (Slideshow Widget) is giving me a phishing warning.
Google Chrome passes it thru with no warning to www.adobe.com
I realize that the new Gallery Widgets were just posted last night, so the team may still be tweaking, but this is the internet sooo..

Yeah, I clear my all my browsers caches every nano second when designing/changing/troubleshooting. So I guess it must have been a hickup.
