New year, new kid in town

Hi, New kid in town here just waiting for my first Apple server X within the next days,
sincerely I´ve no idea how to manage such machine, but I have a lot of courage ( je, je ) and a couple of clear things:
1- I need it for distribute and sell my pictures to my current clients and the new ones I´ll get all around the world,
2- I like challenges, I hope a little help from your huge wisdom.
but for now just let me say hello and wish all of you a very, very happy new 2006 year.
PD- I posted this message three times, but unable to see it, so, my apologies if it appears ...three times.
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   is anybody out there?

Hi,
I think system is confused due to the fact, that you are closing year, which is beyond the current calendar year.

    Quite... driven to despair by the state of the forums and sheer indifference of Adobe. There are some Adobe foks like John C and Kanguyen who are making a definite attempt. However, my feeling is too little, too late.
    Matters are definitely not helped by hosts arbitrarily locking and / or delteting threads. There was a moderator called Zoro or Zero or something... he vanished after a while and now we have 'Kid Deleter'...I posted a comment earlier about this and it just vanished. How much discount would a 12 year old kid get for MacBook Pro (13 inch)?
    He needs it for school and using iMovie.
    Please answer this fast as possible.
    Thank you.

    None.
    Why would you think he would get a discount?

  • I don't want to buy his products, it just incaution by a 3 years old kid, I don't want to buy his products, it just in caution by a 3 years old kid

    What are you talking about?
    If you are trying to contact Apple about a purchase, you are at the wrong place.

  • Are there discounts for our students? We are launching a new kids program teaching video production. We currently have Adobe premier elements.

    These kids will be the tech crew for our popular Rock School program now in its 12th year. The crew kids will learn to run sound, live recording, lighting, stage set up, video production, culminating in the big concert every 3 months where they will run the show. They will shoot the video, record the sound, and after, edit the video with the audio track recorded and mixed from 24 track recorder. We are a bit new to video and need help with the best way to go about this......software.....curriculum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Besides your contact with Adobe Customer Service as SG is suggesting, have you check out Adobe Education
    Educational software, academic software | Adobe
    and the following Contact link within the above link might provide some telephone number for inquiry specific to your program choice.
    At first glance, the above looks like it targets the higher end products. But, there may be Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements opportunities in there also.

  • New boy in town

    I have recently purchased a new camera, Good Friday 18th April, EOS600D. I am confused by the term "Rebel T3i",The box my camera came in has no mention of the  "Rebel T3i" neither does the handbook. The camera was brought as a 'bundle' EOS600D body, Canon zoom lens EF-S 18-55 1:3.5-5.6 III  58mm and  Canon zoom lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III 58mm.
    I see there is an update for the firmware, how do I go about doing this please, or will it not be needed?
    I have used a bridge over the past years, and I felt it was time to expand my interest in photgraphy. I have recently brought two UV filters as protection for the lenses and will be collecting my lens hoods on Tuesday. So far, I have found the camera faily easy to get on with, I am still climbing the learning curve, and have quite a long way to go. Once I am feeling compitent with the camera, I shall be looking into taking RAW and editing the same. My editing skills are what could be considered as quite basic. I use two programs, Photoshop Elements 10, and Serif  PhotoPlus X6. I sometimes use a specific program to perform a task, then switch to the second progrm to finish the job. I find that one program can make certain tasks easier than the other. RAW on the other had is a diferent kettle of fish

    For reasons known only to Canon's marketing department, Rebels are called by different names in different parts of the world. If you lived in the U.S., your camera would be called a T3i, and you'd see little or no mention of the "600D".
    I see there is an update for the firmware, how do I go about doing this please, or will it not be needed?
    You do it by copying the update file to a memory card and following the directions from there. Installing the update directly from a computer is (or was the last time I tried it) a confusing and error-prone process. I once had to send a Rebel to the Canon shop because I inadvertently failed to do the steps in exactly the right order. They fixed it under warranty and didn't charge me, but I may have just been lucky. Updating from a card is much more straightforward.
    Whether the update will be needed or I not, I can't say. But it's usually a good idea to try to stay up to date.

    Editing RAW is a different kettle of fish, but it isn't necessarily harder. At least with the editor I use (Digital Photo Pro), most edits are simpler and more effective when made on a RAW file. As long as you're willing to do the conversion to JPEG at the end, I suggest you start shooting RAW sooner rather than later.

  • Another new kid in need of a TINY bit of help.

    Hey everybody...
    Working on a project just like everybody else.
    I need to make a program that reads in a number, and spits it back out in reverse, and line by line. For example.
    Input = 12345
    Output 5
    4
    3
    2
    1
    End.
    I'm SO close I can feel it..but I'm literally one line of code off..and I know which it is..I've been searching forums and google, but can't seem to get the missing piece..and I know it's something stupid too >.<
    If I can be pointed in the right direction, it would be AMAZING. Below is The code I have so far. I know the problem has to do with the "charat" line, because it's an incompatable type (String an int). I just don't know which to do instead...
    Can anybody help me out? I'd be very greatful :)
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class numberreverser
         public static String extractNextDigit(String passedString)
         {    //thispart is wrong
              int looptime = 5;
              passedString = passedString.charAt(2);
              return passedString;
              looptime--;
         public static void main( String args[] )
                   Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in );
                   int fivedigit = 0;
                   System.out.print("Please imput a 5 digit interger: ");
                   fivedigit = input.nextInt();
                   String s1 = Integer.toString(fivedigit);
                   int loop = 0;
                   do
                   s1 = extractNextDigit(s1);
                   System.out.println(s1);
                   loop++;
                   while (loop <= 5);
    }

    Thanks for the help guys...but I still didn't get my question answered XD
    The question I had to do was with the bolded line of code
    I literally just need to find out what line of code is supposed to be used in place of "charAt", but used the same functionality... Can anybody point me in the right directions? I do a couple things weird here, but It's just the stupid rubric I have :/

  • As a family we have shared are itunes music for a number of years as kids grow up how do we transfer some of the music to them

    as a family we have shared music from one itunes account. now the kids are grown. how do we transfer some of the music to their new itunes account without them having to repurchase the music

    You can't transfer tracks from one account to another. My kids have libraries authorized to my account and strict instructions not make purchases on my account unless I say so. A library can be authorized for multiple accounts, each account can be authorized to a maximum of five computers and each device can hold content from a maximum of five accounts.

  • Separating multiple AVCHD clips on the video line

    Hello everybody
    I'm new kid in town and I like this forum as far as I read in other topics. And I come from Greece.
    I started recently working AVCHD small films and clips.
    When I say 'get file' I choose a file with extension *.m2ts from SONY and I put it down on the video line. That's the extension what I'm principally working with.
    My problem is that when I want to put a second file on the video line then it goes automatically with the first one in the same place and not separated. The same thing with more files.
    There is also a small sign on the top right side of the first clip (a small piece of film sign of blue color).
    Of course I worked before with other normal films about 2 years with Adobe Premiere and other Softwares. This is the third time I buy Premiere.
    Do I do something wrong?
    TY for helping
    Vladimir

    Vladimir, make sure you are working in the Timeline mode. Not Sceneline. This will give you more control over your clips.
    Also, make sure that your Premiere Elements project is set up the same of the video in your camcorder. In other words, since your video is AVCHD, make sure you are using a project with the AVCHD settings. Also, if your camcorder is using 5.1 audio, make sure your project is set up also for 5.1 audio or you will experience unusual behavior. For instance, when you try to put a video clip on Video 1, it will move to Video 4.
    Does that make sense?

  • Track sort order

    What does the song order (sometimes) change when I click on the Album column?
    Most of the time, my songs show up sorted by track number (I have the track # column displayed).
    However, for a few albums this is totally messed up. For example My copy of Hotel california shows:
    9 The Last Resort 9 of 9
    1 Hotel California 1 of 9
    2 New Kid In Town 2 of 9
    when sorted album by artist or album by year. But if I sort by Album, the order is
    5 Wasted Time [reprise} 5 of 9
    6 Victim of Love 6 of 9
    1 Hotel California 1 of 9
    I can sort them properly by track number if I selected the album in the browser then select track # for the sort. But I want all my albums to show proper track sorting when displayed in flow view.
    I'm also wondering what would happn if this was a "gapless" album and the tracks were out of order
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    I don't think you can do this becuase sorting by date added, actually date/time added, overrides everything else.
    When you sort by date/time added, the albums group together assuming the tracks were all imported together. Unfortunately, the track order doesn't always seem to come out right although it often does.

  • For the millions trying to use iMovie HD with Yosemite

    A good discussion got started in iDVD about using iMovie HD (a.k.a. iMovie 06) with Yosemite.
    I am attempting to relocate some of that information into the iMovie forum.
    From jboolean:
    Find iMovie HD.app, control click on it and View Package Contents. Open Contents/MacOS/iMovie HD. That seems to bypass the check.
    From:  hughmass:   ( says it works ! )
    I can confirm that if one right clicks all the way through, and doesn't close the terminal window, iMovie HD works as usual. I put a mp4 into it, put transitions and music, and exported.   Nice discovery as there are a lot of folks who still would rather use this application from 2006. You know, so long ago.
    Hugh
    From Old Toad:
    I tried that fix and it will open but won't work further than that. That method also opens the Terminal app which lists all of the bypasses and commands  iMovie is skipping.  If you close the Terminal window iMovie closes. The project file it creates is not a package as it normally is but just a folder.   It freezes up when you try to edit an audio clip.  Then when closed it won't open the project again.
    I suspect that there is some, “minor item” that is causing the iMovie HD problem with Yosemite.   Hopefully, some programming "super genius" will find a way to  lead the rest of us out of darkness.

    Karsten,   One of the things I really like about you is that even when others disagree with you about “best methods” you always have sympathetic answers and great explanations.  Your technical expertise, and good humor is appreciated by me.
    Quicktime will get obsolete. Now with Yosemite, the new kid in town is AVFoundation
    I'm all for these improvements.  I would be delighted, ecstatic, overjoyed, to change to a new movie editor if it was half as good as iMovie HD. As you know, the new iMovie can't even set chapters!      I use chapters with Podcasts and DVDs.   I also have Final Cut Pro X.   It can set chapters but it's got way more horsepower than I need.
    When I first started using iMovie 12 years ago I never read the manual.  Didn't need to.  Starting with iMovie 08, I spent hours reading manuals and watching YouTube videos trying to figure out simple tasks.  Sometimes I think I have a mental block because I started my video editing with real film using a razor blade and tape!
    Nobody forces you, to install Yosemite nor to buy a new Mac
    Eventually, you are forced to upgrade.   Let me give you an example.  For a number of years I was using a very high-end analog to digital converter from Grass Valley.  This device came with a terrific piece of software that would “clean up” old footage. I could do lightning and darkening, adjust colors, and filter out “Hiss”.   Well, that software was written for the old IBM processors, the company never updated it. So I was stuck using Snow Leopard (last OS to contain Rosetta) for a long time.
    As time went on, I would purchase new software that would NOT work with Snow Leopard, so I was forced to switch to Mavericks.
    However, you are correct in one regard; if you have a computer that is running the software and hardware that you like and you can dedicate that computer to that one task, yes, you can continue on, more or less indefinitely until your hardware breaks.  I know people who are doing exactly that so they can keep using iMovie HD.
    pretty nonsense to keep PROJECT-files
    I don't keep my project files either.   I do my editing with iMovie HD, then I use iDVD to create a DVD image file (about 4 GB). That is the only item I keep.
    My mind boggles at the multitude of video file formats available.  But I know this, 20 years from now I will still be able to play a DVD or at least view the DVD image file.

  • Screen-shot tools: root2jpg and root2xpm

    Hi folks (new kid in town...)
    Saw this sub-board in the forum & spent the next few evenings browsing all the very nifty projects you all have created, some innovative stuff so... I thought I'd add my own contributions to the mix =)
    Here are two routines to take screen-shots, the 1st outputs a compressed JPG, & the 2nd a pixmap in XPM format.
    But first an example... here's a JPG taken with root2jpg.
    These could easily be hard-coded into for instance config.h in dwm, or a script with xbindkeys where either called a modifier and say the print-screen key (XK_Print).
    Since I'm not yet running Arch, I can't roll up any packages (any takers?) At any rate, hope you all can use them!

    topcat-software:
    Welcome to Arch.  I hope you make the transition soon.  Your picture is a bit outside of our policy with regards to size.  I mostly concern myself with the byte count because many of our users are bandwidth limited.   As moderator, I would generally convert that to a link so that it is not displayed in-line.  But hey, it is the day before Christmas and I am in a good mood
    The preferred method is to create a link to the full size picture, and inside that link, in-line a thumbnail so that readers can see the thumb, and click through it, if they wish.
    Kind of like this : [ url=link to the big picture ][ img=link to the thumbnail [ /img ][ /url ]
    Without the spaces to "break" the BBCode (of course).

  • Playing guitar on keyboard

    hey I'm urgently looking for a realistic guitarsound plug-in, to simulate rhythm guitars on a keyboard (I need both accoustic strumming and all kinds of electric). So I'm not looking for amp simulators, but real guitarsounds.
    Of course they must be compatible with logic pro7.
    Thanks

    Stefaan,
    There's a new kid in town... this just released about 2 months ago

    Since I'm a guitarist, I don't go near this stuff, but admittedly, this product deals with some of the shortcomings that make samples sound like samples, as opposed to the real deal.
