I have had btinternet email for years, and Thunderbird for a long time too and have been happy with both. Unfortunately, I am not technical enough to understand most of the help or instructions on the Thunderbird support/info pages, but did manage to get TB set up in the first place (ages ago) and it seems to have worked well since. However, on Friday both of my BT accounts (two numbers, therefore two sets of BT email addresses) were moved over to the new BT Mail from the old BT Yahoo mail. I was unable to log in to one of them, but the other one was fine - I had some 'screen sharing' help from a BT technical chap to sort it out. However, Thunderbird was unable to conect with the email servers. I told BT and the tech chap tried to sort it out on the screen share, but was unable to (and I was unable to follow what he was doing). Some months ago, I made some changes, as requested by BT, to enable the transfer to go smoothly (!) but the man changed some things on Friday, I think, as well. He was unable to fix the TB problem and I can't figure it out at all, and the lady from BT Tech help who I spoke to this morning (and who had managed to sort out my BTID log-in problem, thankfully) had a look and suggested that maybe I needed an updated/new/different version of TB or 'another email'. Well, I'd really like to stay with Thunderbird and was hoping someone here could explain it in plain english for me, please? I was wondering what would happen, supposing I need to download an updated/different version, if I did that and then sort of re-installed my existing BT email addresses (just as if I was starting again with Thunderbird)? I do hope there is someone here who can help - please - I'm rather fond of that little blue bird. Thank you.

There should be no need to delete or reinstall anything. Re-installing Thunderbird itself is rarely useful, since doing this doesn't delete account data. Don't delete the old yahoo-based account until you're sure that everything you need to keep is in the new criticalpath-based account.
CriticalPath is the name of the business providing email services to bt.com.

You'd think bt could run their own email service, wouldn't you? Yahoo was generally seen as a poor choice. I'm not sure that criticalpath is any better. -
New to JDeveloper/ADF, need to create a UI Mockup for a Version Control app

I have experience with Java/J2EE, however I'm new to both JDeveloper and ADF and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with what I'm trying to accomplish/start. We are working on a new application for a client and to kick start things I need to come up with a User Interface Mockup of a Version Control system we're going to create. It should be nothing fancy, and not very functional (for the time being) but should use some dummy data (preferably from a text file - just for demo purposes), be a one-page layout, and use Oracle ADF components (folder tree, datagrid, data view, xml view to be specific). Of course, it is requested that this all be done using JDeveloper/Oracle ADF. I was able to install both of these (it seems ADF is bundled with JDev), however that's about as far as I got. What steps do I need to take in order to come up with something simple like this? When I loaded up JDeveloper there are alot of options when creating a new project and I'm not sure what to choose. ANY help would be appreciated.Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for.
However, I'm having some trouble figuring out how to set up my Data Controls for the dummy data. I'd basically like to set up the entire page as follows:
A column on the left that displays a tree as follows:

The right side of the screen will have 3 "columns" or borders that will take up the entire screen, from top to bottom:
List of Versions (large column)

When the user selects a "File" from the tree, a datagrid will appear that displays all versions of the selected file with columns like "File Name", "Version", "Date", and a checkbox to select a row.

When the user selects a row using the checkbox, some relevant version info will display here. This info will come from the database when the final version of the app is written using various fields from the "Files" tables

How would I go about setting something like this up? Using the sample you provided earlier, the example just has main categories on the left. I'm confused how to set up a fell fledged tree and then to incorporate the functionality I described above.

I have a cd of New Yorker magazine cartoons which I got in 2004. It requires adobe 6.0.1 but my computer will not allow me to install that version as it is outdated. I have windows 7. How to I get this CD to open? -Bob
If the CD absolutely requires that old version, then it is basically obsolete. However, it might work with the current version ... have you installed the current version of Adobe Reader, and if so what does it say when you try to use the CD?

how to get access to my iCloud back up when setting up a new iPhone 5s which needs the newest version of iOS7 first?
Set up the new phone as a new iPhone (without using your backup), then update it to the latest iOS (7.1.2). Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. My mac is a version 10.5.8. I just downloaded ios7, and it is telling me I need to download iTunes 11 to connect to my phone, but I don't have a new enough version. What do I do?! I think snow leopard was the last update I purchased. Is there a way to convert my phone back? I need to be able to update it, but don't have the money for a new computer.. Help!
10.5.8 is Leopard, not Snow Leopard. Leopard ran on both PPC and Intel Macs, but Snow Leopard runs only on Intel Macs. iTunes 11 will run on Snow Leopard, though I'm not sure whether iOS7 requires a higher system (Apple seem to specify only itunes 11 and not an OSX system so you may be OK). However if your Mac is a PPC you cannot proceed; if it's an Intel one you can purchase Snow Leopard in the Online Store (search for Snow Leopard to find it quickly) - it's not expensive. It's not possible to roll your phone back to iOS6.

Mark thBuy the "AT&T" model iPad, not the Verizon one (which does not support SIM cards used most everywhere in the world). The ATT model comes with a SIM card, but you can then get one from a UK provider. Be sure it's a "microSIM" card, not the larger kind when back in the UK.

I've installed bootcamp 4.0 on my iMac 27. Everything works superb, but for playing need for speed run or battlefield 3 I need catalyst driver 11.7 or higher. How can I update my graphics? Is there a possibility except waiting for a new bootcamp version?
But how do you install the drivers if Bootcamp is running interference?
Bottom line, I'ev tried to install three different versions of updated ATI driver sover the last few momnths and on each and every occassion have ended up with the original Bootcamp driver. A number of current games are unplayable on a Mac running Bootcamp as a result.
And if I can't run the software I want, then Bootcamp is as useless as boobs on a bull. -

When i first synced my iphone it synced around 3000 photo's. It now wont ley me sync my phone at all as i need the new ios version but because of the photo's i dont have enough space but i cant delete the photo's because my phone wont sync. HELP PLEASE!!
Use iPhone as designed. Like any digital camera, download your photos to your computer and delete from the iPhone to create space required for iOS upgrade.

Hi, I have been trying to update many things on my 2009 white macbook. Everytime I do it tells me I need a different version. I don't know what versions I need or even where to begin or if I need to purchase new hardware? It says my version is 10.5.8. I have tried downloading 10.6 but not sure what to do. Everyone else seems to be updating there's and mine is way behind however it still tells me I have no software updates...Any suggestions?
You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was based on Power PC code and was written to be able to run on both Power PC and Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture. -
My old iMac and OS 10.4 will not accept the New iTunes Version 10 application and I can't get past the screen offering to download iTunes 10. This is wrong and I need help getting past this situation. Help!
Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least. If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer. -
