Newbie: Coding's gonna kill me, one of these days

Question

I am creating a .fla in which a movieclip is inserted. I want
this movieclip to play once, and after it's finished, a text and a
button should appear. After 5 seconds, the whole animation
(movieclip, text, button, etc) should loop.
However, I'm stuck: such is the fate of a newbie. I've placed
a Stop action in the last frame of my movie clip, but as soon as
the movie clip ends, the whole animation plays again. Furthermore,
I am not sure as how to code the animation so the text and button
appear exactly after the animation has ended. Anyone willing to
give me a helping hand?
It would be great if you could post a small explanation of
the logic behind the coding, just so I can learn instead of just
following steps, but it's not a must. If you reply to my personal

this is a ok example of how things work.
as for implementation i would start by organizing my object space with objects that know there greatest depth.
that is add a method to your object space polygon class which tries through brute force to calculate all coordinates the polygon occupies and remembers the greatest depth.
drop your objects into a priority queue greatest depth first and loose the renderer
