Newbie: First time creating a form

I created a form using LifeCycle. I distributed the form. Now I have to make additional changes. Is there a way to replace certain pages with new ones without losing the fields and drop-downs I have already created. Also, once the form is distributed, how can end-users save the file. The form is not letting them make additional changes. Does is matter what version of Acrobat they have? The form is saved down as low as Acrobat 5. Any help would be appreciated.
Even though I create a copy this is the message I receive every time.

1) You cam move ald fields and drop downs by copy-paste them to new page.
2) To allow users save the form it has to be reader extended. In this case user will have activated menu Save.

Newbie: first time interfacing with existing site

Hi, first post here.
Our company has an existing website that was created several
years ago by someone no longer with the company. It is ColdFusion
based.
For the last few years, I have been in charge of site
management. I have no formal background or training as a webmaster,
so my experience growth has been awkward and unconventional.
I've been doing coding using a text editor to do direct html
manipulation. I then test "live" on our site, usually on a hidden
page. As my company grows, I have not had the time to keep up with
site expansion, and I have yet to date to find a reliable full time
or part time webmaster replacement for me (believe me, I've tried)!
So in the meantime, I have decided to see if I can simplify
my work using Dreamweaver.
So far, I am not off to a great start.
I have downloaded our entire site to our local networked
server in order to have a local architecture mirror. However, since
our local server does not have CF installed, I realize that I
cannot test locally.
I set up remote access to our web server, and Dreamweaver
connects successfully when I test in site management.
However, when I go to "remote view" or "testing server" and
accept the prompt to Get Dependent Files, I always end up with a
partially complete view of the page I want to see, with many
missing elements.
Am I asking too much from Dreamweaver, since in essence I am
asking it to come in and manage a very mature and extensively
developed site after the fact? Is the program able to fully
interface with any established site as long as its programming
language is supported?

Sounds like maybe you haven't told us everything. Does your
site use
Coldfusion programming? If so, you can always download the
free
developer version and test locally.
As far as testing HTML locally, you don't need a remote
connection.
You can download the files to your computer and use the
Preview in
Browser to test the pages before you load them. And yes, you
should
be able to scroll up and down and see the entire page if it's
coded
properly.
Or am I totally misunderstanding your question?

Times Ten Newbie first time Backup

First of all, everything can be scripted.
Times Ten doesn't come in a 10g version, so you may want to check and then consult the documentation for your version:

First time creating a web service ... help!

I work for a logistics company and I have been tasked with
creating a web service that will allow clients to feed in XML
packets and our server would then take the XML, confirm it's valid
and then process a quote and then return this quote back to the
client as an XML packet. Here is where my confusion arrises ...
what type of returntype is an XML packet? a "string"?

Basically yes, A long structured string. The cffunction tag

accepts a returnType of XML, I'm not sure which is best.

Sortingtable clears the forms when the column is clicked for the first time

Hi All,
I have text fields which will take the conditions for search and result will be displayed in the sorting table of the same form,
When the search is done for the first time the result is shown in the sortingTable, but when we click any of the column to get it sorted it clears out the whole screen and shows only the search text fields.But when we do a search again in the same form there after the sort works.it does not clear out.
This happens for the first search after the form is loaded for the first time from the workflow

Thanks for your reply, it did not work even after setting the sortEnable,
The issue i find is when the any column is clixked for sorting for the first time all the form variables even if it is under Expansion is lost, but when we do the search again (even with different criteria) the same page and hit the sort column again the form variables are retained

Can't change the label text for the first time of loading

I have some problem to change the label text in the prerender method.
I put a label on the form and set the text value to "Customer" on the text properities , and I would like to change the lable text to "Supplier" in the prerender method, I found some strange behaviour.
If I type nothing on the label text of the properties , I can change the lable text on the prerender method on the first time of the form load .
If I put something on the label text of the properties , the text label can't be changed on the first time of form loaded, the lable can be changed if I refresh the form or reload the form.
Could anyone help me to solve this kinds of problem ?

This is a tough one to explain. Here is one explanation from the Delving Into Components tutorial:
As with the JavaServer Pages implementation, when the server constructs a page from JSP source, the tag attribute settings in the JSP source take precedence over runtime settings. For example, if you set the text property for a Static Text component to "moon," the IDE adds text="moon" to the Static Text component's tag in the JSP file. Even if the page's prerender method has a staticText1.setText("sun") statement, the Static Text component shows "moon" when the application renders the page. If the page is rerendered, the staticText1.setText("sun") statement takes affect and the Static Text component shows "sun." If you visit another page and come back, the server once again constructs the page from the JSP source, the values set in the JSP tag attributes take precedence, and the page displays "moon."

First time ever attempting to create recovery media, so the questions may be numerous.
For the first time creating backup media for Factory Recovery image, how much space is required on the medium?
I would prefer to have it stored onto a USB stick because they are much easier to store and keep track of...

The Backup program copies the data in your Windows partition to another drive, so you need as much free space in your backup drive as you have used space in your Windows partition. It also takes a correspondingly long time to complete, so keep that in mind.
In order to make an exact copy of the whole drive, you need imaging software like Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, or something similar.

Adobe Form will not go through email the first time it's submitted.

I have created a simple fillable Adobe form that is placed on our local Intranet with a simple submit button at the bottom of the form. The settings on the form are to send the entire form to the email address (which was also entered on the button properties). The first time a new user of the form tries to submit the form it never goes through. The email shows its been sent from the local users Outlook but it never arrives at the destination email address. If the users tries to submit a second form everything works without any problems. Does anyone know whey the first time the form is submitting (basically emailed) it doesn't go through? Is this a problem with the form or with our local exchange server? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

First time form designer - duplicating subform

This is the first time that I have used Adobe to create anything. My background comes from Microsoft Access. I'm creating an order form and could use some help with whether or not to scrap this first try. The users will be saving each order and emailing them in as a pdf attachement. Sometimes they have multiple order that go together. In that case, I would like to be able to duplicate the design of the form onto multiple pages depending on how many the user needs. I believe I may have shot myself in the foot though by not using a table to set everything up. When I change my subform to "flowed", I lose all of my formatting. Also, I'm not sure if using text fields for all of the item names was the correct thing to do. Perhaps I should have used just plain "text" instead?
If I am going about this the wrong way, does anyone have a few helpful tips to nudge me in the right direction. LiveCycle is fascinating, but I jumped in head-first and now I'm floundering a bit.

No your design is fine .....first thing to do is name the unmaed subform that holds all of your content. I called it Page1. Now save the form as a dynamic PDF (file/saveas and choose dynamic PDF). Now highlight the Page1 node in the hierarchy view and in the Object palette click on the Binding tab. Click on the Repeat subform for each data item checkbox. Now your form is ready to duplicate pages. You can use the command
Page1.instanceManager.addInstance(1)
Typically I add a button so the user can indicate when they want to add a page (by clicking the button hence you can put the code on the click event of that button.

so when I run the form the Field should be disabled and there are no data inside it,and when I chose the creat button the fields should be enabled and I have to insert data inside it then I save.
So I have FinCompaniesInformatonView as view object based on entity object name FinCompaniesInformaton and applicationMoudul.

Hi.
It is possible with some restrictions. Let's say you agree there are max 5 columns in your LOV-s. That way you can easily create LOV to RG colums mapping (what Andreas pointed out).
For example :
1. in design time create RG with dummy columns (for example : c1, c2, c3, c4, c5)
2. in design time create 1 LOV with 5 predefind columns (for example : c1, c2, c3, c4, c5)
3. populate that record group with select (selecting 5 columns. If you do not have 5 columns in your table on which LOV is based just select dummy columns for the rest of the columns) aliasing them as c1, c2, c3, c4, c5 (same as in LOV from step 2)
4. asign that RG to the LOV in step 1
5. in LOV show just "non-dummy" rows form step 3
The rest you already figured it out.
The benefit of this approach is questionable as the same can be done creating more RG and LOV-s in design time. So I believe this is the matter of developer preferences. By the way the concept I described we use on daily bases dealing with LOV-s.

the first time you visit the page and submit the form, the same page comes right back, unchanged, with its default form values. If you try again, it works fine, for all subsequent attempts.
If you quit your browser and try again, the same errant behaviour is observed.
The application is very similar to EA4 jsf-guessNumber, which doesn't show this problem.
I've tried several browsers and several tweaks to the app without identifying the source of the problem.
Any hints where to look?

This is because the RI only keeps one component tree around, and throws away the one it has when it receives a request for a new one.
When you include a stylesheet with a URL that starts with "/faces", the request for the stylesheet gets processed by JSF. JSF believes it's a "real" request, so it throws away the component tree it just created for the JSF page that contains the stylesheet reference. On the next request, it has to build the tree from scratch again and doesn't process the request data. If the browser caches the stylesheet, you only see this on the first postback.
The solution is to use an absolute path for the stylesheet and place it somewhere else than under "/faces" in the URL structure, e.g.,

Went to Settings where?
If you want to use your exisiting Apple ID on your iPad, you need to:
1. Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign out the new ID, and then sign on the old one
2. Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account, and the sign back onto iCloud using the old ID
You still have not indindated why you are saying that using your old ID originally "didn't work". What do you mean by that? Did you get some sort of error when you tried to sign on with your exisiting Apple ID?

I have 4 blocks of Single Choice fields in order for the summary page to give me each day in the final report. But, I need the user to be able to make a selection of any day and time and that apointment to no longer be available to future users when they log in. Plus, when the user clicks on the time, they are unable to change their mind and choose another time. I'm afraid not. It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder. Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
<form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code. Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names. It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.
